Chung Ying Chinese Takeaway in Birmingham

DISGUSTING! Lol, dont even bother. I ordered a chicken curry and the chicken pieces were literally in cubes and tasted more like cheese than chicken. Chips had no salt. Also the woman serving was so RUDE she was moaning about me giving her 10p in coppers. Never going here again. Same for my extended family. I have told them (we have just moved to the area)

Great food, large potions, beef curry and chow mein had loads of beef pieces, delivery within 40 minutes, nice spicy curry sauce, free crackers and spring rolls

They didn’t deliver part of our order and then blamed the poor delivery driver who said that the Chinese knew our food was missing so sent him back 40 minutes later and when I phoned, the receptionist pretended she didn’t speak English and put the phone down on me! Money wasted and won’t be returning.

Used to be 5 star but it changed owners and now it is very bad! Do not recommend!

The food is pretty good but 3 out of the last four times we've ordered from here stuff has been missing. Once they came back three times! Once I didn't bother to tell them. It's a bit of a shambles now.

Chung Ying Chinese Takeaway is a reliable choice for a chinese takeaway meal. Their portion sizes are generous, and the flavors are good. I enjoyed the Singapore fried rice and crispy duck. If you're looking for a place with tasty dishes and satisfying portions, Chung Ying won't disappoint.

Love this place! Nowhere can beat it. The salt and pepper chips and the salt and Pepper chicken are to die for. I regularly have the beef in satay sauce and my boyfriend has Singapore chow mein and they are delicious. Won't go anywhere else!

Really disappointed that you changed your spring roll to a generic (frozen?) one. It tastes awful and the price is nearly double? Bring back the battered style one. New chips are horrible too CHANGE THE NAME CAUSE THIS ISN'T THE CHUNG YING EVERYONE KNEW FOR DECADES

My mom and dad have used chung ying for the past 27 years and has always been good food the previous owners became friends of my mom n dad however on friday i used this place for the first time since the new owner had taken over i had a special curry which disnt look nice but still thought id give it a go only eat a quater the rest was thrown away there was no flavour to the food just a funny taste wish i didnt try any of it as the special curry left me having a special night with my toilet have had severe stomach ache for the past 3 days this place should NOT be called ching ying any longer as it is not the same place it was for all those years previously

The best Chinese takeaway I've had since moving to Birmingham 5 years ago. And I've tried many.

We have ordered here for the last 5 years my family the the past 15 i can only echo the review below, prices have shot up, portion sizes have shrank and the food quality is out the window! Sad to say whoever has taken over is determined to drive it into the ground, after 15 years of using this establishment i will now have to take my buisness elsewhere Atleast change the name of the buisness so the previouse owner can avoid the shame of what this has become

This place was brilliant for 24years and now the main man, whose name I am ashamed I never knew, has stepped aside and it looks as if family have taken over. Prices have shot up, portion sizes decreased and the quality of the food has plummeted. For the first time that I can remember we threw away enough left over food for lunch the next day because it was so mushy, stodgy and samely tasting. Gone are all the separate pepper slices and beautiful fillets of battered chicken to be replaced with inferior cuts of meat coated in batter and chewy as can be. What a waste of money and a horrible heaviness in my stomach all night after that stodgy plate of eurgh. Last time we visit Chung Ying and that makes me sad.

Rang at 10.55pm. Says closes at 11.30. Nobody answering

Seems like this place has changed ownership 😞 travelled a fair distance to get here food order was wrong missing items so had to go back to shop to get the missing bits the other items I ordered were not what was asked for crispy chicken in honey they covered chicken in golden syrup not honey and a plain chow mein had no beansprouts in just noodles which tasted like aftershave not ever going back here it's a shame as last owners food was always spot on avoid here I say find a new Cantonese

The worst Chinese I have ever had. Rude women on the phone taking the order, missed part of the order and didn’t bring the rest round. Spent over £40 and not one thing was nice

Took an hour 45 minutes to arrive, when I called she said it was because of Valentine’s Day when I said they should prepare for busy seasonal occasions she changed her mind and said the driver was on his way but was stuck in traffic at 9pm. The food eventually arrived, the chips and curry sauce were amazing and my partner enjoyed the prawn chow mien, however the chicken was very over cooked and tough, and the duck was just basically chunks of fat in sauce and was not edible. Overall we paid over £30 for chips and curry sauce which took nearly 2 hours to arrive. Definitely will not be using here again.

Me and my boyfriend went here for our anniversary and loved this Chinese, is one of the best Chinese I have ever been to. And im from Yorkshire, and I would travel all this way just for this Chinese.

Me and my work colleagues having been Coming here for over a year for most of our socials. We absolutely love it here. Food is amazing always, staff are lovely and friendly and menu is reasonably priced. Large variety for the vegans so perfect to bring large groups of people. Will pay another visit shortly. It was my first time ordering from this takeaway. I generally avoid Chinese takeaways as it's more western Chinese food than traditional. I tried salt and pepper chicken with egg fried rice. It was full of flavour and not too greasy like some takeaways can be. It will definitely be my go to place now for an occasional takeaway. Owner is extremely friendly and was willing to chat with me in Mandarin. Definitely worth a visit. 很高兴！

Ordered the beef in black bean and satay this evening. Food was fresh, hot and the portions were more than adequate.The beef in particular was cooked to perfection. Was greeted warmly by staff member upon entering the premises. Updated on my order whilst waiting on site. Good sense of devotion to providing an excellent level of customer service. Have not enjoyed a Chinese takeaway as much as this in a while. Will be back. Thank you Chung Ying.

Excellent food and service! Tried a few in the area and we always go back to Chung Ying! Salt pepper chicken is to die for and the curry dishes! We had black bean beef, salt pepper chicken and King do ribs last night, could not fault it! Quality is always top top top! Thank you to all the wonderful staff at chung ying, and see you next week!

I used to love the food at this takeaway, even recommended to friends and acquaintances as well as giving positive reviews, but for the last few months the standard of food has dropped from excellent to mediocre to now horrible. I decided to reorder again last night for 3 people and this turned out to be the worst food I've ever eaten at a Chinese takeaway. All the ribs were dry and flavourless as if they had been marinaded a few weeks ago and then served. Chicken wings at best were mediocre, the curry sauce was terrible and lacked any flavour whatsoever. The rice was sticky and again flavourless. I realise that it's difficult to constantly keep high standards where I'm ok to accept a drop in standard here and there but now after having given enough chances for them to get it right they have disappointed time after time to the point of ruining my evening. Such a shame, I loved this place.

First and the last time at Chung Ying! I ordered BBQ Spare ribs that were swimming in fat and crease Chicken curry which taste like Fairy liquid Egg fried rice was as dry as sand and chowmein tastes dry probably reheated over and over again AVIOD AT ALL COSTS DISGRACE! !

Don't often feel the need to leave poor reviews, but this was the worst take away we have ordered. My son found a large piece of plastic in his meal, which was not only disgusting but also dangerous. Poor response. Really disappointed.
