Chung Hwa in South Cambridgeshire

We’ve been coming here for a while and normally the food is great. However the reason for giving 3 stars is based on the one order we received yesterday. As part of the order we got Sweet and Sour chicken balls. Upon biting into the chicken balls we realised that the chicken was completely undercooked and still pink. We checked pretty much all of them and they were all the same so had to throw them away. Like I said this is the first time this has happened and hopefully will be the last.

Great place. I've travelled and lived in China and eating meal from Chung Hwa made me feel like back in Chineese province again. Very good menu, great service.

Surprisingly large portion, healthy style: not too oily or salty as you could expect from Chinese takeaway, and reasonable price!

Just here for a night, short of food options so opted for a Chinese. The best Chinese I've had in many many years incl. sit down restaurants. Great portions. Chicken Satay and Tofu with ginger and black bean sauce exceptionally good, authentic taste.

Staff have always been very friendly and welcoming. Food has always been very quick and the staff are really helpful in helping me pick and try new dishes 😁

If you like mystery meat, this is your place. Sad to say not a good meal by any standards. And we have travelled/lived in China. Good luck folks ...

Excellent value for money, with prices remaining stable and a commitment to using authentic ingredients, ensuring no unexpected substitutions or additives.

Prices have increased by up to 50 pence per item I find this a little to much and had one ifeb 2024 and they are now putting bloody jack fruit in there dishes

The food we ordered was ready in 15mins. The guy at the counter was very attentive. We loved the food! Everything was done very well, it was delicious! The fried chicken was on point! Would definitely order again from this place!

We ordered from this Chinese takeaway and we were delighted by our experience. The host was very friendly and made good recommendations. The schezuan ribs and beef in black bean sauce that he recommended was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were very good and very reasonably priced. They also gave us some complimentary prawn crackers & fortune cookies. All is all a great experience and will definitely dine again.

Amazing food great service price and quality

Been there twice when visiting Cambridge, and this is the best takeaway I've ever been to. The food is fantastic, the portions are generous, and the service is good. Thoroughly recommend ordering sweet and sour pork (Hong Kong style) with vegetable egg fried rice, spring rolls, prawn bread and pork ribs for a sizeable meal for two. Haven't eaten out at many better places. Thoroughly recommend!

Had many other Chinese elsewhere but however this was different gravy quite literally every dish tastes elevated and not to mention great customer service. Thank you chef!

Have been coming here for a while since I look for authentic Chinese food, the original owners have come back and the food quality has not disappointed. The interior has been refurbished and hygiene makes me comfortable eating here on a regular, not greasy, unlike other Chinese takeaways. Best Chinese food in Cambridge with friendly staff, highly recommend it.

They dish really good food, full of flavours. Not had any bad experiences and I keep coming back every week. Nice staff and they always have the food cooked and ready in record time. Highly recommend!

Recently paid a visit here, first time since under new management. Was very impressed with what we had; Duck Pancake rolls with sauce; mixed vegetable Udon noodles - not greasy or salty at all; chicken in satay sauce - fresher chicken & better taste than before. Very reasonably priced too!

So pleased to see tthe owner who has run the takeaway for many years came back. Not only all favorite dishes back, but also some new delicious dishes. Can not wait to try again.

They have 1 star from us because they were open. The chicken was inspid couldn't taste the difference between the chicken beef and onion. Pawn balls overcooked and hard . We ordered 10 dishes of which one was ediable. The prices on website well out of date too

Absolutely awful, will never use again, prices on website not the same as in the shop, £10 difference on one order alone, bland, tasteless, out of 10 dishes only one was edible enough to be finished. Only given a star on the rating because I had to.

We've been using this takeaway for years and it's always been very good. Last night we were one of the first orders and the food was unedible! The chips were clearly re-heated from the night before and the mushroom chopsuey was tasteless - it was literaly beansprouts, mushrooms and sugary water! The other dishes were equaly poor. I won't be rewarding that with more money.

Amazing food, been a few times, if you get a large meal and rice it can feel expensive, but it easily feeds 2 people.

One of the very few Chinese Takeaway in Cambridge which do know how to cook Chinese food. We ordered Fried rice and fried rice noodle. They are delicious and surprisingly without the “too oily and too much sauces” issues we experienced with most other Chinese takeaways. Decent portion at reasonable price and the female boss (老板娘）is very nice and friendly. The shop is clean and tidy, no hygienic issue at all.

My favourite Chinese takeaway in the UK. Fresh, spicy, good value. Crispy beef, spicy squid, Singapore rice recommended. Add 10 minutes to estimated preparation time. Social distancing in place since it reopened mid March 20.

One of the best Chinese takeaway places for miles around.

Delicious food, generous portions and quite inexpensive too. Even got a free bag of prawn crackers with our order that was ready in 15 mins on a Saturday night. Wish I was local so I could get food from here more often .

Food is pretty decent but waiting time is sometimes out of hand. Standard long wait on a Saturday night and generally if you phone an order through it often won't be ready at the prearranged collection time.

I found a bit of metal in my food!!!!!! Worse when you have metal fillings!!!!!

Cannot understand why it was so busy when the food is so very poor in quality,without a doubt the worst Chinese meal I have ever had, why do they insist on a cash payment?. Containers should surely be full,but half full at best.not a problem though dog enjoyed most of it.never again refund would be appropriate

Decent Chinese, quite cheap, they don't have a website, but they have most of the usual stuff that Chinese take aways usually have.

Absolutely delicious chicken curry and the rice is cooked to perfection. I've not tried many dishes from here but thats only because I'm addicted to the chicken curry!! They also do their best to accommodate requests such as a half portions for example. Very polite and friendly staff. Highly recommended - these people need to replace wokswagon in Cambourne!!!!

Would be a 5* review but WHY HAVE THE SPRING ROLLS SHRUNK? THEY USED TO BE ENORMOUS AND WONDERFUL BUT ARE NOW SMALLER!!! As a matter of fact, this single reason explains why I have not visited this otherwise outstanding Chinese for six months. Sort this out and I will come back. I'm not even joking. Every Saturday we get a takeaway but these days it is generally fish and chips (from Viking in Cambridge) or curry (from Cottenham Curry Palace).

Always good food and very friendly service only downside is it can take awhile to get your order especially at busy times I have had to wait up to an hour and that was with calling ahead.

I ordered from here recently and my partner said it was the best Chinese meal she had ever eaten which is high praise indeed. Price was very good and quality excellent.

I used to dine from this takeaway quite a bit and always found it well above average. I was always surprised by the quality for such a small village shop. They have recent editions of the Cambridge News available to read so you can catch up on local news while you wait for your order. Chung Hwa does a good "House Special Fried Rice", and the batter on their chicken & pork balls is really nice.
