Chop Grill & Bar in Aberdeen City

Scottish Salmon was an absolute sensation! Relatively quiet evening, not too busy. Waited for a while to be seated, but my server Maria was very courteous... asked me questions and patiently helped me with the card machine when paying. I eat salmon a lot and this salmon was cooked to perfection. The crushed baby potatoes were soft and buttery, the sauce was extraordinary! Would have like a little bit more asparagus, and puree... but that is all down to beautiful plating, as opposed to quantity 😉 The cesar salad was a bit weird, but it may just be that I was so wowed by the salmon that I was expecting something different and my taste buds didn't agree. Hence the 4 stars and not 5. My drink was lovely and cold, seating was comfy and everyone I saw eating seemed to really enjoy their food. Will definitely visit again when I am in Aberdeen.

Very stylish bar / restaurant with sport on TV too. Excellent, friendly service with special mention to Caitlin. I ate there 2 nights while staying the hotel. Loved it.

I have recently visited Aberdeen and I was thoroughly impressed with the Chop Grill and Bar. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Especially Callum, who was extremely kind and generous. He made us feel at home. All the staff were attentive and friendly, making sure we felt welcome. As for the food, it was fantastic and delicious. Also, the cocktail Callum made for us was fabulous, just perfect to end a very special night. I highly recommend that lovely restaurant. I can’t wait to go back! Cheers!

There is no words in terms of gratefulness to that lovely cold night (06 October) when me and my girlfriend went recieve by the amazing night staff at the bar, what I can say about my friend and brother Callum and our long time colleague and friend Aoibheann who proportionate to us not only an amazing dinner but the hole experience to be at Scotland, as our first time at this country it couldn’t be more wonderful definitely making us feeling as true king and queen, I need to mention the high good quality level of food and drink matched with the receptivity by all these brilliant people, my IPA was served by Seoras (I call him Jorge) making me drink a scoth honey in shape of beer, I guarantee I gonna come back bringing more family members because this city and place is inside my heart, everybody gonna know that I was served by not only a simple cocktail but the fusion between Brasil (Yes, with S) and Scotland when I’ve tried the ultimate signature scotch-brazilian cocktail by the hands of Mr. Davie makes me feeling with the samba at the feet and the bagpipe at the mouth, thanks so much is not enough to say what I want to say, but by the way… gie’s a bosie, cheers! - ARRUDA Lucas

Excellent atmosphere for a Monday night. Staff superb. My complex dietary requirements were met in an excellent non stressful way. The food was amazing 😋

Was staying in the Sandman Signature hotel last week for a quick work trip and went to the restaurant onsite for both days. I was promptly greeted at the door by the lovely waiting staff before getting a table in their bar and lounge area. This was perfect as I could watch the football matches and enjoy my dinner. Superb drinks selection, the local BrewToon draught beers went down a treat. Menu is varied and has a great selection for everyone. The steak bites starter was incredible and could have eaten a giant portion of them if on offer! Had their smoked ribeye with onion rings for a main course it has to be one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. Beautiful smokey flavours and a quality bit of meat. Service was quick and friendly despite being busy. Extremely impressive for being situated in a hotel. Will be returning when I’m next in Aberdeen.

Came here during the latest Aberdeen Restaurant Week. Great food deal with £10 main course and £5 dessert. I must say the white chocolate brownie was extremely tasty!! Atmosphere in the restaurant was great and was busy, nice ambience. Service was excellent and not too intrusive. Felt looked after throughout our night, special mention to our waitress Elena who was so attentive and kind, nothing was too much for her. Opted for some cocktails as an after dinner treat and these were delicious. First time visit but will definitely be back again!

The Food was very very delicious and on high quality. But the service. Well. When we have finished we waited more than 15 Minutes that we could pay. Even the drinks were empty at this time. We sat directly in front of the bar and the staff seems to try not to look at us. One time one of them saw me. I raised my hand. She too. Then she walked away and came no more. Very bad service. So we didn't let a Tip.

Despite being very quiet service very poor. Waited 20minutes for starter and my grandson didn't get chicken that should have been on his starter. Then waited for our plates to be cleared and another 15-20minutes for our mains which were cold. They were promoting Aberdeen restaurant week this was our 1st visit and we will definetly not be returning you except to wait when the restaurant is busy but there were only 2 tables very poor.

We had a dinner here for a family members' birthday and then came for breakfast the next morning as we stayed at the hotel. My starter was the lettuce wraps and I couldn't finish it as the sauce was just full of sugar and soy sauce and it tasted awful. Unfortunately I ordered the ginger beef for a main course and they had obviously used the same sugary sauce for that as was used in my starter. It was really awful and I couldn't eat it. I was going to send it back but my father offered to swap dinners with me so I had his burger instead which was poor as well, a dried up meat puck with no cheese and a stale bun. Service was slow and we sat there for a long time with young kids who got fed up eventually having to wait so long hope their main course. My nice ordered off the kids menu- pizza fingers which were actually just cheese on toast. She was up in the night with stomach problems after that. Breakfast the next day was also a disappointment- undercooked sausages, watery filter coffee, smelly dried up bacon. It was all such an expensive disappointment. A nice hotel that was completely let down by the nastyfood and slack service.

First time and will be back, well looked after excellent service thank you Calamari - really nice, interesting combination with the peppers and onions Ribs - Delicious be prepared for sticky fingers only wish is that the ribs were a little warmer.

First time visitor to watch the football. Food was first class, service was outstanding and atmosphere was brilliant. Only downside was I wish I had known about the football being shown on big screens. If I had seen this advertised I would definitely have booked for a large group of us. Will definitely be back!!!

Simply, great food.. possibly slightly on the expensive side for what you get, but it is fresh, tasty & enjoyable. Service was impeccable... We were staying in the hotel so our deal included breakfast, I'm not 100% sure if Chop themselves are the providers, but breakfast was also great, good choice of buffet, kept reasonably topped up and hot.

Really disappointing. Our starter appeared promptly and was delicious. We then waited over an hour for our main to which we were told "it's because you ordered your steak medium well, it takes longer" the waitress was very rude. When it came the steaks were burnt, we still hadn't recieved our drinks (from ordering after our starter) and no sauce which we requested upon our meal finally arriving. It was inedible. When we asked to speak to management we weren't even asked what the issue was and no apology. Very little positives to say about the experience which is ashame.

Mostly it was really nice but I didn't find the staff very attentive. Even a smile and a nod when you arrive would make a big difference.

Cool place for dinner or drinks, was a mix of feelings, had an up market feel with a large wine rack and lovely toilets but there was also lots of TVs playing sport, so it was a bit confusing as to who the clientele was geared towards. Service was a little slow and not very attentive. Good was good but a tad expensive for what it was.

Awful service. Waited ages for meal after being told place was full, yet I could clearly see free tables. Staff in restaurant not attentive to diners. Waited over 40 mins for a pint. Then another 40 mins for meal. Manager ended up sorting everything after I had to stand up and have a word. Wouldn't dine here again if I could avoid it.

I had to put a star, but my experience was not worth even a star. The food wasn’t good, my friend ordered a pint of beer that took more than 40 mins!! I asked for some sauce and l am still waiting for it. If you are hungry or want drinks, go elsewhere! Or fast!

Meal a let down , bar quiet food no nice at all …. Been before a year ago and was lovely but not nice at all … would not recommend any more

Really surprised how good it was. Located in the Sandman hotel our first impression was that this will be a bar meal but it was lovely and so well presented. Staff were very attentive and gave the ladies good advice on cocktail selection. Food was piping hot and not too expensive. Will definitely be back again. By the way the car park is round the back and it really tight to drive your car into.

Everything was Amazing. Service impeccable. Took into account my lime allergy which just Added to a relaxed meal with family.

Lovely food and exceptional service.

We had a reservation at another restaurant that closed the kitchen early. Tired and hungry we asked the kitchen at the hotel (Chop Grill) if they could accommodate us (10 people) at 9pm on a Friday, it was not a problem. They fixed a table for us and served superb food. Service was attentive and fast, food was excellent! We ended up eating here two days in a row. Good selection of beer, nice seating and great for watching sports. Their attention to our friend with special dietary needs was exceptional!

Good first visit here. Came for restaurant week, service was extremely quick. Food was delicious, steak cooked exactly as asked. Very busy, would recommend booking a table.

Excellent restaurant (nous y avons dîné 2 fois lors de notre séjour de 2 nuits à Aberdeen), très bonne cuisine et accueil parfait. Le bar est top aussi et les cocktails très bons. Mention spéciale à notre serveuse Elena qui a été très attentionnée, c’est d’ailleurs en partie grâce à elle que nous sommes retournés le 2 eme soir !

great atmosphere and good service

We were staying at the Sandman signature hotel and this is it’s attached restaurant. We were tight for time when we arrived as we were off to a concert so decided to eat here rather than take a chance on one of the restaurants in the city. I’m glad we did! The food was lovely (I had the beef bites as a starter with the chicken burger to follow. The portion sizes were great and I could not have managed a pudding even if we had had the time! The bar is well stocked with a good selection of drinks. Well worth a visit if you are in the city for a meal.

Food was disappointing , the worst ceasar salad, dry and tasteless. My granddaughters chicken fillets were almost black, she refused to even nibble one. My sons steak sandwich was cold. The only upside was the lovely staff.

Service was slow and inattentive and man behind the bar had a body odour problem. Starters and pudding were good but was let down by the mains, expected more for the price we had to pay. Will not be back and wouldn't recommend.

Best steaks in Aberdeen by absolutely miles and we are all M&C regulars!! Drinks were also first class as was the service. Think we've found a new regular spot for sure!!

Great food and drinks, great service

The Chop Grill & Bar is inside the Sandman hotel so it was reasonably busy with guests on a Saturday night. There were also a few students in the bar area and then there were some external hotel guests which was a good sign. The staff were friendly and responsive though the service, especially the bar, was very slow. The starter steak bites were excellent, beautifully cooked with horseradish and Dijon dips. The ginger beef rice bowl looked like a dogs dinner but was OK but the chicken burger was overcooked which was a shame. Did anyone ask about our meal – no! Would we have complained – no! We were happy to eat up and move on. We’ll put the Chop Grill down to experience.

Nice place, superb food. The only bad thing was the person sitting across from me kept talking to me so there was nothing to speak about in the car home. Only joking she talked the whole way.

Travelled from Canada and met up with my Canadian friend who lives in Aberdeen who wanted a bit of home so we visited this Canadian restaurant chain in Aberdeen. Menu is a perfect blend of Canada and Scotland! Food is 10/10 delicious. They made me a Gin Fizz that was perfection. The Bar Manager, Callum, looked after our table and he was a wonderful host. This is a must visit for locals and visitors alike.

OK dinner, but "vegetable lettuce roll" was not a tortilla with grilled vegetables and crunchy lettuce, but more of a thick vegetable stew, with the idea that spoonfuls would be placed in the lettuce leaves and wrapped. The stew itself was very fine; the idea was odd. Slow service. Breakfast buffets were fine.

Every time me and my partner have been or even with mates the service is so so slow where they serve management and linger round their table before attending to us or anyone else. Had to go up everytime and ask to order food as we just get stared at but never approached ? Been ignored when standing at bar. It’s a shame as it’s our local and we love the food and love the atmosphere but the service just lets it down every single time - especially for the prices and I work in hospitality so I’m aware of impatient customers but this was baffling me

Really friendly staff and service. The food was better than average. The booths have the feel of an American diner / sports bar with large screens pumping out constant sports scores and interviews. In the centre there are cocktails being made, shaken, stirred all in. So overall really good experience. My guest had Calamari and then Classic burger and they were both excellent according to his aggressively omnivore diet. I had veggie options. It always makes me laugh when people assume I'm the meat eater out of two. Wasn't over keen on the sachets of sauce, for the price. I'd expect a small vessel laden with the best quality sauces. The beer was too fizzy. Not sure that's a criticism! Overall a good, solid experience.

We visited CHOP for Sunday lunch to celebrate a family birthday and were not disappointed by the food served. The service was also very friendly and attentive. However we were the only patrons in this restaurant at the time. That is a shame as there are few places in Aberdeen as good as this one. We will certainly come back here.

The design of the restaurant is beautiful. The hostess who welcomed me at the door was welcoming and efficient. I was shown to my table which she cleaned for me before I sat down. Waitress came took my drink and food order. I chose a strawberry mojito which was very tasty and the Chop burger minus the mushrooms. It said it came fully loaded with streaky bacon and cheese but I was disappointed to receive one small price of bacon. You could tell the quality of the burger was excellent although it was a little dry. I are my meal my plate was cleared and I waited to be asked if I wanted anything else. Twenty minutes passed before the waitress approached and said could she get my anything else I asked to see the dessert menu which she seemed surprised by. I ordered the white chocolate brownie and it was delicious so moist and tasty. Waited again for the waitress to return so I could ask for my bill. I dined early the restaurant was busy but not packed there were plenty empty tables so don't feel this excuses the level of slow service.

Never have I been treated so unfairly and poorly in an establishment. It was my friends 50’s birthday and the team and staff were extremely rude and Unhelpful to us. From the start, the manager Russell spoke to us rudely but I just took it as he must be having a bad day until a good number of guests started complaining and said the same thing. When it was time for the meal, he literally told his team to just drop the food on the tables and move because a few people were trying to search their phones to remember what they chose. The lack of patience or even customer care was appauling. The food itself was horrible and I have a very good palate for good food. I could not wait to leave and it’s a shame because the celebrant spent so much money to give her guests a good time. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone if you plan to give your guests a wonderful experience. Absolutely embarrassing.

I attended an event over the weekend at Sandman Signature Hotel Aberdeen. It was a really terrible experience. The Manager Russell was so rude to some of us guests, raising his voice and speaking rudely to us. Food was appalling and the team was far from courteous. I won't recommend and definitely not using that venue for any event

Situated inside the hotel the restaurant offers more than the standard range usually found in hotels. The food was very good, efficiently served and good value.

Out with the family as part of the local restaurant week we went to the Sandman for our first visit to the Chop Grill , the setting is really nice and the young staff were friendly and efficient, drinks were quickly served including the impressive Mexican Bulldog .
