Food is excellent, best takeaway for Chinese in my opinion

This was, without doubt, the worst Chinese takeaway I have ever had. The chips looked like they were very old and had been reheated multiple times. The bbq spare ribs were certainly not in a sauce that I would describe as bbq. The pork in the special fried rice was very fatty, and it all lacked flavour. The curry sauce was all heat and no flavour. All in all, it was a very disappointing meal, we will never be going back.

Don't know what has happened as this takeaway was always good. Ive not been for a while, but it was inedible. Rice smelt really funny and was sticky and tasteless. The tray wasn't full, neither didn't really matter as the whole meal went in the bin. Ribs were soggy and tasted like they'd been boiled. Never again!

Busy place which is a good sign. That said it was my partner childhood takeaway from some 20 years ago so I'd been told how good it was. There was expectation to be met and it did. The only complaint was that special chow mein isn't in a round tub like it used to be. I told her you don't eat the tub 😄 We both enjoyed the food and will return to sample more of the menu.

Satay in chicken and prawn was very watery didn’t taste like satay at all and the prawns were rubbery . Beef in black bean was nice . Salt and pepper ribs were stringy tiny portion of rice compared to other Chinese . Very very salty . Afraid I won’t be using again

False advertisingThey say they shut at 10:00 so I rang up at 9:45 to order some food they can't make it because they're closed but nite be4 I rang at 9.50 and they made my order Absolute joke Friday night you can't even get a Chinese in your own area Because staff want to go home early

Starters are never wet yet they chicken wings are saucy and just make the batter awful and soggy. No where on the menu does it state the starts are wet. Maybe add it on the menu. Also the food was all bland from the starters to the mains. Problem with having mix and match sauces and meats is the meat doesn’t sit in the marinade so you can just instantly tell the meat gets added to the sauce so your just eating bland meat with sauce. Food for local scummys. If you want real Chinese food I’d go to TANG.

Excellent restaurant quality Chinese Food

As regular visitors to Mr Lams restaurant in Preston we were heart broken when it closed. But thankfully the takeaway has fulfilled are Chinese meal fix. Great food great service, the combo boxes are to die for!!

Ordered a couple of curry and fried noodles plus a portion of what I thought was chip! Curry and noodles was ok BUT the chips.... What can I say... (leaving photos so you can make your own mind up)

Been going here for years. Always been previously happy. Thats why I kept going there. They've been closed for a month or so. Wanted to re-order. Ordered portion of chips with the main course tonight. Usually these are scooped up as you collect your main order, nice and fresh, but this portion was in the warmer. It was old chips from the previous fry, I presume. Several brown chips, several hard chips that are really inedible. Order collected 21.30 on 25/02/2023. Also the smell of the oil was unpleasant. Still got that smell on my fingers. Ironically because, from the sounds emanating from the frier, a fresh fry was in progress. What has happened? Please get back to your former glory or was this some sort of one off?

The best chinese I've ever had! Amazing service, extremely clean, great prices, everyone is so lovely and the food is amazing! I wouldn't go anywhere else after tasting their food and highly recommend the combo box :)

Quite simply the best Chinese food in Preston, it's not even close.

I haven't had a Chinese for about 7 years. Till this gem was found. Clean and none clutter takeaway. Very lovely people. Now the food was curious. Feller said just try and chicken curry for goodness sake. So I braved it. Chicken curry and boiled rice. Wow. Actual chicken. No grease or fat. And perfect rice. The only place I will eat a chinese/Cantonese sorry. Only place I will eat from. Perfect.

Not sure what the food is like.ordered a takeaway at 7 pm should have been ready at 7.55. 20.30 and still waiting with little idea how much longer.unless the food is out of this world I would not use again.

This used to be my local Chinese takeaway, which i visited on a regular basis. But not as much these days. The prices are getting higher each year now - far more than it used to do. And to cap this, the portion sizes aren't! Seem to be more skimped on and not as much to go round the family dinner table, forcing you to buy a large portion!! Bit naughty! Compared to the gpod old days, when a portion of lovely salty chippy chips, was just that - a portion - not a handful. Mainly though,my one gripe is that you HAVE to pay in cash only and no card payments allowed 🤔 mmm, never experienced that before in any other takeaway I've been to. I'm sure they gave good reason obviously but i wonder why? It would be so convenient if card sales were finally a go ahead. But it is really inconvenient. If you forget cash or are on way home you have to mess around finding cash machine. Doh...I want my tea lol not messing about! They are not going to enforce it either from what i gather.So take your pocket change sorry, I mean, notes. Don't envy their accountant though when comes to doing their taxes....Their books must be a right pigs ear lol! The food quality is good, yeh, ok from what I've tasted over the years. Salt and pepper chicken wings ate what I'd recommend. Fresh, tasty and not hit too bad with the rise and still reasonable. Plus spicy as hell which I love. Accessible parking is a no no. If your lucky there are about three spaces at the front of the property, on Blackpool Road, outside the hairdressers more on the curb. Ok fur quick stops etc but can be full on a regular basis. It's just the prices rises that occur often, and cash only policy that bugs me. Oh, and the portions of lovely chippy chips depleting more and more into the abyss. Overall, not bad for a local takeaway.

OMG the food here is fantastic, really big portions to, if you already haven't tried, makesure you do, you will not be disappointed!

Always a good meal from here. New menu without the numbers so not as quick to order. Would have been 5 stars but they don't deliver. Oh and free prawn crackers for orders over £30

Average Chinese takeaway. Disappointing as I love Mr Lam in town. The food is nowhere near as nice. Plus they don’t accept card and don’t deliver.

Has this place changed our food was really late and the ribs in barbecue sauce were not enabled we had just come back from our hols how is it every where we went on hol the food was really good yet you come home to the usual rubbish will not recommend this Chinese to any one with a good palate

disappointed completely... sauce from plastic bottle, super sweet , no trace of any chef job or anything, beef was not a beef, it was something i just could not recognise, like a fried plastic straws in some black emulsion, no chance to chew... can`t believe this chef can serve this to people, i would love to see him eating it... it went strait into the bin... quite big portion of chips we got ... but again,.. they were soggy, wet and just bad...i would prefer less and properly done.. and my brother Chow mein was oily, tasteless, lack of vegetable, not a fresh dish, you would expect from Chinese cuisine. i am not a fan of writing this kind of comments, but i took it as an offence to receive this kind of food and i hope the owner will open his eyes, or will start eating in his own shop to find out, what they do...

Have been a 3 times now and once waited 50 minutes longer than the stated time, the second time they gave my order away to someone else, my partner always gets the salt n pepper chicken which is lovely so I thought I’d get the salt n pepper ribs, they handed me this portion of ribs I have no idea what it was but clearly not snp as the chicken is spot on, took it back and complained and got attitude saying ‘this is how we do them and they are wet’ I showed them the chicken and said THIS IS SALT N PEPPER, they said so do you want it dry? I waiting for a new portion and it looked like they had just scraped the sauce off the original awful ribs! They were disgusting I ate one and threw the rest away, it’s also ridiculously overpriced, I won’t be going again.

Not had a takeaway for ages and was looking forward to this, the trays are so small and the chop suey was not even filled to the top of the little tray. Very disappointed and it will be a long time before we have another one.

First time coming to this Chinese and i cant fault it, everything was puka, definitely going back.

We’ve coming to this takeaway for years. Always good food and quick service. Best to ring in advance then your meal will be ready n waiting. Chicken fried rice is always good. Chicken chow mien is too. Really good Chinese curry sauce. You get a good fair amount of chips too.

We have had food from here for over 20 years , haven’t been for a few months as last couple of orders had things missing and had to drive back and staff attitudes wasn’t great .Fancied fish and chips but was very disappointed , only live 10 mins away , chips where cold had to warm up but then they dried up .. fish batter was to thick and fish tasteless .Will not go there again such a shame Queen Vic chippy is so much better and better priced

Expect a little extra wait on your original timeslot, (as they are always very busy, which inturn proves popularity). It isnt the cheapest of places, but the food is always top notch.

Discussting spent £40 on food that was terrible waited 1 hour and 20 mins despite it was a telephone order also the blond lady who serves was very rude not just to me but to all other customers I’m not one for making a bad rate but this was terrible I will never eat here again the food went in the bin it was that terrible

I just have beef curry n rice its okay not the best I have had. with prawn crackers and fried rice, son had salt n pepper chicken he enjoyed it

Great food but the delay for it was a total disgrace. I telephoned my order on saturday night and was told it would be one hour till collection. I arrived an hour later to find 15 people waiting for telephone orders. I sat in the shop for a further one hour and didnt even receive any free prawn crackers as a sorry for the wait. Some customers who ordered and waited ages said forget it and left. Its a shame as the food is good but if your in a rush on a saturday night for x factor think on!!

This is certainly the best Chinese takeaway I’ve been to and I will not go to any other after going here, they just don’t compare. The food is always of a high quality and full of flavour, no cheap crap! And they also do proper chippy chips too which just tops it off for me. Highly recommended

Consistently good food. Do English chippy food too. Can sometimes be quite a wait for telephone orders so worth asking how long the wait is before ordering

I rang and placed an order to collect. I was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. So I turn up after 55mins just to give them an extra 10 minutes to make my chow main which im sure doesn't take too long. An hour and a half after I rang I am still sat in the shop waiting for my meal... are they flying it in straight from China!! UPDATE!!!.... To make things worse. A woman walked in 5mins after I got here. Ordered the exact same as me and has now left with her meal. Her overall wait time 15mins... mine 1 hour and 35mins and counting!!

Terrible timing for this place, whatever waiting time they say double it and then go and collect. Been given a 45 minute waiting time and still here an hour and a half later, won’t be coming here again, even if it was the last place on earth

Been eating from this place my whole life and I've never tasted better food anywhere else.

I went here because it had good reviews but was very disappointed. The sweet and sour chicken was a few chicken nuggets with a weak sauce that had no content and the chow mien was a tasteless sludge of noodles containing some overcooked chicken and topped with a few beansprouts. Won't bother again.

When ordering a takeaway add about 20 minutes to the time they give you to collect your food. It always takes longer than the time they tell you. It will save a long wait in the shop.

Alway have same chinese food!! Sweet sour chicken ball and chip Beef curry and boiled rice Partner and I share half half!! We love it there!! It is not far from us!! We still going there!!!

Esto no es de ninguna manera barato, mejor pasrt de 10 libras con arroz frito pero es excelente si quieres un curry muy, muy caliente y lleno de carne. . . Esta comida no está en el menú y para solicitar que se hizo. . Vale la pena el dinero. .

Many Chinese takeaways tried before finding Chiu Kwan and although we live about 5 miles away, we wouldn't hesitate in popping out to purchase our Chinese meal from here. Chiu Kwan provides the best takeaway Chow Mein Special ever.
