Chit'n'Chaat in Manchester

Found plastic strip inside the Kutchi Dabeli. I have reported the incident to Just Eat as well. Last week, I left a detailed review about this establishment, thinking perhaps I was the problem and deciding to simply avoid visiting in person and order online instead. However, it now appears as though my name is being singled out. I will not be ordering from this place again, and I will strongly advise my friends to avoid it too.

I got plastic strip from the food (Kutchi Dabeli) and Puri was broken as in the form that we cannot have.

I've been visiting this restaurant regularly for the past three years and have always appreciated the food, which is consistently good. However, I feel compelled to share my experience today, which left me quite disappointed. After finishing our meal, we requested the remaining food to be packed for takeaway — something fairly standard. To our surprise, the staff simply handed over the boxes and bags and expected us to pack the food ourselves. When we politely objected and expressed discomfort, they did not engage or offer any assistance. Instead, they continued with their tasks, ignoring our request entirely. I found this situation quite awkward and unprofessional. As a loyal customer, it’s disheartening to feel dismissed and unsupported — especially when such basic service should be part of the experience. Out of principle, I chose not to take the food home and left after paying the bill. Frankly, the level of disrespect and apathy was shocking. This isn’t a self-service mess hall. What happened today was lazy, careless, and completely unprofessional. I genuinely hope the management takes this feedback seriously. It's not about the food — it’s about respect, attentiveness, and a minimum level of hospitality that all guests deserve, especially those who’ve supported the restaurant over the years. I ordered dosa at Chit N Chat, Rusholme in Manchester, but it arrived 40 minutes late. The sambar was watery and tasteless—just masala in water. When I raised the issue, the staff responded rudely, saying it was complimentary. Deeply disappointing experience; not worth the time or money. Would not recommend.

I have been coming with my friend to the chit n chat, we had a couple of bad experiences, especially with the staff. We regularly visit for tea, for somehow, we were not considered as a customer and said to leave the 4 seated table. It was quite rude. Yesterday, we had a very bad experience, my friend ordered food and requested them to pack the food and they agreed to. But when we said them to pack, they just said that they will give boxes and the worst thing was, staff didn't wait to listen what we we were saying, she came and left the boxes on the table.

Had a terrible experience at Chit and Chat, Rusholme. The food seemed frozen and barely edible, served late with no apology. When we politely asked about it, the staff reacted rudely, showing clear disrespect in front of others. Absolutely disappointing service and poor food quality. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

One of the worst experience I ever had at this branch yesterday (Friday) at afternoon, we traveled all the way to try their biryani but unfortunately it wasn't in the menu and when I asked for the same to the staff over there she abruptly replied saying it's in other branch you can go there, that was so rude...and she were sharing this thing to her feiend at reception and they both were laughing at us...and we ordered kothu roti and masala dosa...kothu roti was very nice & authentic but masala dosa there was no salt in dosa and no salt both the chutneys and sambar as well....and sambar isn't hot and masala as well...the lady staff who was there didn't bothered to ask about the food taste....very bad experience and didn't expect this from chit and chaat being such a big brand....

I have ordered twice but why don’t you provide untensils when I mentioned. How can people eat without spoon when they are not accessible to have their own 😠

Small friendly restaurant. Order taken quickly and food arrived pretty fast. Excellent quality and very tasty. Definitely recommend the Massala Dosa.

The food was amazing and very authentic. The staff were super friendly and told us how to best have the food. The price of food is very good. Highly recommend this place if you want proper indian food. Get the Masala Chai and Dosa!

The food was so so amazing! The best indian food i have had. Dahi puri was my favourite! The masala chai is to die for! Ordered it twice! Mahima was our server and she was so attentive. She made us feel so welcome. Great staff and amazing food. Would defos recommend to others and come back.

Dropped by here tonight and have been previously the food is always amazing. Really really tasty food just wished they did food like this in Glasgow. Please tell me whats in your chilli chips they are so good!!

Calm atmosphere, and the food was very good, I would definitely recommend the Dahi puri for a burst of flavour and the chilli chicken is always good.

Fantastic spicy food that was cooled down with tow mango lassis! We had kottu roti and lamb mince dosa. It reminded me of Sri Lankan food.

Foods amazing, staff are lovely, prices beyond reasonable. Lots of Veggie options. Real, authentic food. Slightly smaller option ls than bifger sites, but everything mega fresh and fast. The masala dosa is to die for, even our 2 year old had something she liked! Can't wait to come again

Went in for a quick bite. Ordered pani puri and nimbu pani. Whatever was in the nimbu pani was off. The water, mint leaves, was off. Tasted disgusting.

We got pink chai, but it was watery. It's not made with milk, but the manager came and replaced it with karak chai which is milkier. Really great customer service.

Hemos estado dos veces en el último mes en el restaurante Deansgate Square. La comida era excelente. La facturación más alta va a las chuletas de cordero que eran tan buenas como en cualquier lugar. El servicio fue excelente. El único punto a tener en cuenta es que el restaurante se sentía frío, así que toma un puente. Bien vale la pena una visita por la buena comida india.

The chicken in the Hakka noodles some pieces was tough and rubbery. Shown it to them, they made it again but was still the same texture baffled that breast chicken can be like that. Either redone it with same chicken pieces or the batch is bad or overcooked when boiling. Been there 3-4 times had same food no issues. Rest of the food brilliant. Service was cheeky given 10% off then added 5% service charge? Basically given 5% discount. This reason for review, hopefully this is one off. It has put me off from having the chicken Hakka noodles. Rest the food fine.

We have eaten at Chit n chaat innumerable times, both delivery and dine in.. their food is awesome too. Our all time favourites are Dabeli, vada pav, pani puri, chicken momos, saag and makai di roti, samosa chaat, aloo tikki, pav bhaji, sev puri. Dahi puri.... I have never tried dosa their, so, no clue!! The staff is amazingly friendly. The ambience is rustic and feels like home :-)

The boss is amazing and well catering and helpful, chefs cook amazing quality Indian street food, regularly visit, speed of service and the soft tones and great atmosphere to eat and feel the spice from the food.

Era un sábado ocupado sentado inmediatamente. Esperé unos minutos para pedir bebidas y comida, pero ambos llegaron a tiempo.

Bonito lugar, comida muy sabrosa, personal amable, mi única queja es que es bastante caro para los pequeños tamaños de porción que se obtiene. Estábamos muy sorprendidos. No regresaremos por esa razón.

La comida estaba sabrosa, sin embargo, diría que podrían hacer un poco más con las porciones que sirven (o tal vez solo tengo un apetito más grande). Had good food after a long time. We had halwa puri from their breakfast options. The halwa was delicious and sweet. The highlight was veg momos with the red chutney. Mahima was really helpful with the choice selection and friendly. Their masala chai is a must try to warm up the cold.

We was visit today. But just waist of money and time. No tadt of food. Samosa chat, pani puri just normal, karak chai and Masala tea is fully rubbish. Tea cup is very small for 2 years baby. You can not hold the tea cup. I never recommend anybody to go there for eating.

I tried only a few dishes. Except misal pav is all good. Misal pav is entirely different from what we get from North India. Few seating capacity. Parking we can get 5min walking distance.

Atmosphere of this restaurant is like an India. And the food is so good. They have various types of food from india. When we eat there we feel like we are in india. I visited with my friends and I will visit this place with my family too. I will recommend this restaurant to my friends and some british friends because they can enjoy indian food here in manchester.

Well located in the famous Curry Mile in Manchester. The restaurant is small but cozy. We loved the ambience. The Momo tasted great, just like I had in Delhi! The Gulam Jamun was definitely the best I have had in the UK so far! (Again, just like you find it in India). Bhelpuri was ok (I would have loved it to be more spicy). Dosa was great! The staff were very friendly and the place felt like home. So, if you are up for trying some indian street foods, I highly recommend it.

A few weeks ago my wife ordered veg samosa with chaat. It was tasty and the customer service was good as well and very welcoming. However it was a bit pricey and there was a % fee on addition as a fee for service (i think 5 per cent).

Always such a great experience. Quick, delicious, and super friendly service. Menu is well indicated for dietary requirements, though not for allergens so you need to ask for the allergens list.

I liked the pani puri and I didn't like the fish pakora.

Chit 'N' Chaat is one of my favourite restaurants on Wilmslow road. Very decent prices and top quality food. Their chaat is on another level, the aloo tikki chaat being one of my favourites. The masala dosa is another crowdpleaser. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The only potential issue is that the interior is relatively small compared to other restaurants, so if you were going as a large party I'd probably call up in advance to discuss seating.

Dosa was good with two chutneys and sambar and the masala tea is so satisfying. After long time had perfect breakfast
