Chisou Sushi and Izakaya in City of London, Westminster

The place was so authentic and you feel your in Tokyo. We ordered several types of nigiris but the Wagyu was unbelievable and worth to try.

The food was pretty ok but there are better Japanese restaurants especially if you're happy to spend that kind of money. We had one great server - very sweet lady and then when she went on her break she was replaced by a woman who was playing the game called "let me tell you to get lost without using those specific words" and also pretended not to have the sake that we wanted. They definitely had it. I mentioned to my friend they had run out because I know he would also like that one and coincidentally was going there for dinner, but when he went for dinner they miraculously had it back in stock. I suppose it was the end of her shift and she was tired but having spent close to £700+ on a pretty quiet lunch for 4 of us with hardly any drink (I literally had one glass of sake) it was pretty unfriendly behaviour from that member of staff. Perhaps she would like to retrain in a job that doesn't involve working with people? I did enjoy the Wagyu steak though. The Sashimi was not the best I have had especially at that price point. The lamb chops were so over spiced that it killed any other flavour of food. I will avoid this place in the future.

Our server yesterday was Owen, he was extremely kind and helpful with recommendations. He recommended things which ended up being my fave items on the menu. The chefs are incredibly skilled, I loved the quality of the food and the green tea ice cream ended everything perfectly. Thank you to all staff!

Honestly, you can’t go wrong. My safe spot for consistently good sushi. Really enjoyed everything on the menu.

Braised eal nigiri was delicious

Truly amazing Japanese food. I have had a lot of Japanese food in London over the years but I have to say this is probably the best I have had. Every single meal was delicious, sushi and sashimi extremely fresh. I would definitely go back. Service was super kind, quick, and comforting. Manager also extremely polite as he was actively checking up on his guests. 10/10 highly recommend

It's very good but really expensive. £5 for a bottle of tap water, the same for a small bowl of rice.

Delicious authentic Japanese food.

Food was outstanding quality and authentic. I got the sushi bento lunch set, octopus and also a dessert assortment. Servers were really lovely and attentive, and seating area outside was great. Highly recommend.

We’ve been loyal and very happy customers of Chisou for some time, often spending around £100 per person when dining there. Unfortunately, our most recent visit on 1st May left us deeply disappointed. Despite the restaurant not being full, we were squeezed into an uncomfortably small space. When I politely asked the gentleman at the reception if the empty table next to us could be adjusted slightly, his response was simply, "It is what it is," with no explanation or apology. The interaction felt dismissive and unnecessarily rude. We’ve visited Chisou more than four times in the past month, but sadly, this experience has made it our last. I wish them well, and hope that one day they come to appreciate the value of loyal customers.

Mediocre sushi, tonkotsu maybe ok. Have better places elsewhere

Lovely location and staff was really nice, the tempura prawn udon broth was really clean and light, sashimi and soft shell crab roll was also really tasty, would recommend for a special day out.

Worth the price in terms of the portion given if compared some of the japanese restaurants in Birmingham. They have great selection of Sashimi. Will definitely come back.

Hands down the best Japanese restaurant in London. Fabulous food and impeccable service. Their set lunch menu is incredible value for money, not least because then food is exquisite and authentic. The ingredients are of the highest order. It's my regulat spot for clients, family and friends. I have never been disappointed as they have maintained their impeccable standard throughout.

Lovely experience for a birthday dinner for my partner. The service was lovely and everyone was really friendly. The restaurant was really busy in the evening and it could get quite loud and hard to hear, but one might say that such is the true Izakata experience! The sushi and small plates were lovely. The sushi rice did fell off on two occasions so perhaps they could have pressed it a bit more. I liked the authenticity of adding a bit of the wasabi in between the fish and the rice like you would in Japan. You don’t get that often here in the UK. I’ve enjoyed my meal here and would return to try more stuff on the menu.

We went to Chisou for my partner’s birthday. I booked and completely forgot I mentioned it was his birthday - chisou gave us a beautiful dessert to celebrate the occasion, which really made the evening. The sushi here is delicious, and the servers are very knowledgeable about what’s on offer. We really liked the octopus! Portions were bigger than expected too. Highly recommend

Chisou Sushi and Izakaya is a fantastic spot for authentic Japanese cuisine! The fish was incredibly fresh, and we enjoyed every dish, especially the uni of the day. The horenso salad was also a standout—simple but delicious. We left with full, happy tummies! Highly recommend reserving in advance, as this place is definitely worth a visit for a great sushi experience in London. 🍣✨

We had a great experience at Chisou - high quality, fresh fish, one of the best places in London (also, reasonably priced!). We tried maki selection for a variety of fish, but yuzu ice cream and horenso salad are not to be missed. Staff was very helpful and made sure we had a great time. Will definitely be back! Advantage is the location, very central but hidden from Oxford Street noise.

What a lovely, cozy & great place to have delicious and premium nigiri and sashimi. Many options of all sort of tempura as well (I did not try). Excellent selection of Sale. A lust try !

An exceptional dining experience! The black cod, green tea mochi, and matcha brûlée were a perfect balance of rich and delicate flavors. The aburi sake toro melted in the mouth, and the kani karaage was crispy, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Every dish was beautifully presented and executed with precision. Highly recommend!

If you are looking for an authentic japanese food experience, this place is definitely the right place to chose. We had some incredible tasty sushi along with several side dishes and enjoyed every one of it. The staff is very friendly and professional. We will hopefully make it back soon.

Soft shell crab is so delicious, you must eat it! The tempura, sushi, fried tofu, and eggplant are all delicious, the service is very good, and the atmosphere is good. I've had lunch set before, this was my first time eating it for dinner, highly recommended.

Sushi is great, you can hardly find such a good quality Japanese restaurant in Central London with this price point and serves high quality of sushi + variety of sake. The only issue is that the staff was a pit impatient, we just sat down for few minutes and he already asked 2 times if we were ready to order (but still in polite way), and they seem to be in a hurry of getting our table cleaned when my friend and I just finished the sushi, we both had a feeling that they would like us to get the bill and leave asap, which we hesitate to be back next time for dinner (not sure if it’s better to come during lunch?)

Great food and very warm service. They went extra miles to find us a perfect table. Lychee martini and black cod is a must try . Very decent price for the experience we received tonight.

Service and atmosphere was great as usual however, when we had ordered Chirashi, the sushi rice portion was tiny! Even my mother who don't eat that much was complaining at the lack of sushi rice! For the price of £41 for Chirashi, I would certainly expect more sushi rice for the money. It seems the establishment are very stingy when it comes to putting more sushi rice in the Chirashi which is bizarre because sushi rice is the cheapest ingredient within the Chirashi... I am having second thoughts about coming back here unless they address this issue

Pretty good place for having sushi, located very centrally in London. Having been here a few times now, the experience is quite consistently good, with high quality sea food and good service. The servers are nice and pleasant, and will happily help you with any questions or provide recommendations for deciding on the food and drinks. They have a great selection of sake, both served warm and cold. Definitely a good place if that is something you like. The interior and atmosphere is nice enough, which overall makes Chisou a solid place to eat and drink. Would not have any hesitations about visiting here again.

Great place Service is perfect Quality of sushis is like in Tokyo restaurants (hum the extra fatty tuna). Everything is very good and the sake collection is unbelievable. Of course this is expensive but you are in London Mayfair and this is a high standard restaurant

Lovely and authentic Japanese food! Celebrated my birthday at the restaurant and the food did not disappoint. The sashimi was super fresh and came with thick cuts. Price for a sashimi platter was reasonable too for what it is. Crab roll was decent - I would say the crab was overpowered by the other components like the salmon and even the cucumber inside the roll. Would prefer for the crab to be more prominent in the roll. The miso cod was cooked perfectly, and it was less oily than other iterations I’ve had in other Japanese restaurants which is a nice point. Restaurant even provided a complimentary fruit and ice cream mochi for my birthday which was a nice touch. Overall would recommend if you’re looking for a superb Japanese restaurant in London!

This is my favourite place for sushi in London, the taste is the same of the one I had in Japan. I recommend to seat at the sushi bar so you can see the chef at work. The service is outstanding and I love the place in general because it’s not too elegant and easy to reach.

I have to admit that I haven't eaten chirashi like this since I went to Japan. The quality is excellent, the place is very nice and I recommend booking because it is always full of people at any time. Prices are high. But for a special lunch or dinner every now and then it's worth it

Atrocious greeting! I traveled over an hour to come to your restaurant full of expectation. There were people dining both outside and inside. On entering, I was met by a waiter who was unsmiling and when I said I want to eat lunch he said “we are closed” just after 3 pm. then I pointed out that your website clearly states you are open until 4pm. At that point he just walked away and then a woman came and asked if she could help and I again told her I would like to have some sushi and cocktail. And the same conversation ensued. Even they didn’t offer take out. And then they changed their mind and said they have private event but I can see just 2 people sitting inside and 3 people was sitting outside and having lunch. It was awful customer experience. Avoid! There are many better options near by. Fine restaurant shouldn’t be just decoration or giving ads in Condé Nast.

This restaurant is amazing. We found it based on proximity to our hotel and reviews. It far exceeded any and all expectations disregard any negative reviews those people are not good people. We came without a reservation on a Tuesday evening. My wife and myself, from the kirin ichiban, to the house brand sake, both hot and cold through the wagyu nigiri the spicy tuna, the miso soup, the tour of Toro that I treated myself to at the end. I cannot stress how well taken care of we were by the staff and the chefs. 100% will endorse will return thank you for an amazing evening.

Food was spectacular and so was the service. We ordered omakase which was fresh and so good. The highlight for me was the seared salmon belly. Melts in my mouth. My partner loved the black cod. It was worth the price

Sashimi and sushi are fresh and good quality. Miso black cod costed £26 with big portion. Don't bother ordering deep fried as it's not worth it. Rice was small, could have been more generous.

Causal Japanese restaurant, most of the dishes were quite authentic Japanese, sashimi was fresh.

Truly a 5 star sushi! Such amazingly prepared, soft fishes, and great, unique sushi pieces. One of the best I've eaten! Also, shout-out to my waiter, who was very friendly and professional.

I have been here a few times to celebrate things and every time the food and service have been impeccable. There were a couple other people at the table and we ordered the lunch deal and some items off the menu. The lunch deal is reasonably priced for the quality and quantity you get, when we went it was around £30 each. We also got some sushi in addition and it was all incredibly fresh and high quality. I got the matcha crème brûlée as a separate dessert from the lunch deal and it was amazing! Not too sweet and very flavourful. The service was great and they were very polite and friendly. Depending on how much you get this is definitely on the pricey side but I would definitely say it is worth it.

I had a food poisoning at this restaurant. I started to eat sashimi salad, yakitoris and kaki-frys and 45min later, I felt so sick and my stomach started to hurt. I rushed to the toilette and I threw up everything I ate. Restaurant did investigation and this incident happened at the restaurant on the spot and they said they are not to blame for this food poisoning. I checked this google review and I could see quite a few people getting food poisoning here. I reported the incident to Food Standard Agency. Don't go here.

Authentic Japanese Restaurant in the heart of London, nearby Oxford Street and Bond Station.

Walked in here for dinner without and reservation and the hostess seated us outside and inside was already full. The food and service here is outstanding! The food also arrived quite fast considering how full and busy the restaurant was. We particularly liked their signature salad and the miso black cod (just like at Nobu).

I got there at 21:20 and they said the kitchen was closed. I consider this unprofessional. If you put 21:30 as your closing time it doesn't make sense to reject people at 21:20 by saying our kitchen is closed at 21:00. If that is the case then put 21:00 as your closing time.
