Chisou Sushi and Izakaya in City of London, Westminster

This is my favourite place for sushi in London, the taste is the same of the one I had in Japan. I recommend to seat at the sushi bar so you can see the chef at work. The service is outstanding and I love the place in general because it’s not too elegant and easy to reach.

I have to admit that I haven't eaten chirashi like this since I went to Japan. The quality is excellent, the place is very nice and I recommend booking because it is always full of people at any time. Prices are high. But for a special lunch or dinner every now and then it's worth it

Atrocious greeting! I traveled over an hour to come to your restaurant full of expectation. There were people dining both outside and inside. On entering, I was met by a waiter who was unsmiling and when I said I want to eat lunch he said “we are closed” just after 3 pm. then I pointed out that your website clearly states you are open until 4pm. At that point he just walked away and then a woman came and asked if she could help and I again told her I would like to have some sushi and cocktail. And the same conversation ensued. Even they didn’t offer take out. And then they changed their mind and said they have private event but I can see just 2 people sitting inside and 3 people was sitting outside and having lunch. It was awful customer experience. Avoid! There are many better options near by. Fine restaurant shouldn’t be just decoration or giving ads in Condé Nast.

This restaurant is amazing. We found it based on proximity to our hotel and reviews. It far exceeded any and all expectations disregard any negative reviews those people are not good people. We came without a reservation on a Tuesday evening. My wife and myself, from the kirin ichiban, to the house brand sake, both hot and cold through the wagyu nigiri the spicy tuna, the miso soup, the tour of Toro that I treated myself to at the end. I cannot stress how well taken care of we were by the staff and the chefs. 100% will endorse will return thank you for an amazing evening.

Sashimi and sushi are fresh and good quality. Miso black cod costed £26 with big portion. Don't bother ordering deep fried as it's not worth it. Rice was small, could have been more generous.

Food was spectacular and so was the service. We ordered omakase which was fresh and so good. The highlight for me was the seared salmon belly. Melts in my mouth. My partner loved the black cod. It was worth the price

It was OK, we had a mix of nice and average food (the special was not to my Wifes taste), but the price for what we had was a little excessive. The dish selection for a couple wasn't that varied as the main dish my wife wanted was for 24 pieces and she is only little

Causal Japanese restaurant, most of the dishes were quite authentic Japanese, sashimi was fresh.

Truly a 5 star sushi! Such amazingly prepared, soft fishes, and great, unique sushi pieces. One of the best I've eaten! Also, shout-out to my waiter, who was very friendly and professional.

Food and service top. On the bill it was an optional +15% for service. This new practice isn’t correct. Stop it please !

I have been here a few times to celebrate things and every time the food and service have been impeccable. There were a couple other people at the table and we ordered the lunch deal and some items off the menu. The lunch deal is reasonably priced for the quality and quantity you get, when we went it was around £30 each. We also got some sushi in addition and it was all incredibly fresh and high quality. I got the matcha crème brûlée as a separate dessert from the lunch deal and it was amazing! Not too sweet and very flavourful. The service was great and they were very polite and friendly. Depending on how much you get this is definitely on the pricey side but I would definitely say it is worth it.

I had a food poisoning at this restaurant. I started to eat sashimi salad, yakitoris and kaki-frys and 45min later, I felt so sick and my stomach started to hurt. I rushed to the toilette and I threw up everything I ate. Restaurant did investigation and this incident happened at the restaurant on the spot and they said they are not to blame for this food poisoning. I checked this google review and I could see quite a few people getting food poisoning here. I reported the incident to Food Standard Agency. Don't go here.

Authentic Japanese Restaurant in the heart of London, nearby Oxford Street and Bond Station.

Walked in here for dinner without and reservation and the hostess seated us outside and inside was already full. The food and service here is outstanding! The food also arrived quite fast considering how full and busy the restaurant was. We particularly liked their signature salad and the miso black cod (just like at Nobu).

I got there at 21:20 and they said the kitchen was closed. I consider this unprofessional. If you put 21:30 as your closing time it doesn't make sense to reject people at 21:20 by saying our kitchen is closed at 21:00. If that is the case then put 21:00 as your closing time.

Lovely people, reasonable prices, and high-quality food. Not a trendy or cool place but a perfect a lunch place for a busy business person.

Favourite Japanese restaurant in London

I ate mostly raw food, so it’s hard to judge the dishes, but the overall quality seemed really good. The sea urchin was rather expensive, but if you like it then I would highly recommend. I had never tried Mozuku before and thought it might not taste good, but it was delicious as well. I ordered one piece of Wagyu nigiri and immediately regretted not ordering more. The pork belly with kimchi was more “kimchi with pork belly.” You get very little pork considering it’s a main dish, but at £8, I should’ve expected that. The servers were great and very accommodating.

Great place, they have a gluten free menu and gkuten free soy sauce aswell. Great, soft fish/sashimi and sushi selection.

I chose 9 pieces of omakase and ordered a roll as my main! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to eat sushi!! And they also gave us Maki (?) in the last photo as a service :) The rolls are a bit small, but if you go with a friend, it would be nice to order sushi as a main and share it. And the drink was a cocktail. It had plum flavor and the floating rose was annoying but delicious👍

Love the Japanese decoration details at the first sight, tasty sashimi and tempura. We have ordered the sashimi set and special sashimi tempura set for lunch, the amount of food is just right for us, but would love to have a bit more variety choice of sashimi such as yellow tail for the sashimi set. Very friendly staff and they make us feel like we have traveled to Japan in no time, definitely will visit again, thanks for the service.

My partner and I love coming here for lunch. The service, food and atmosphere make this place. We always choose to sit at the counter. My favourite dish is the grilled black cod on the lunch special menu. They make a mean cocktail too and this time I tried the Margarita!

Good food and quite Japanese atmosphere, but unfortunately my dish arrived extremely delayed vs. the one of my girlfriendIt quite disrupted my experience. At the end the service excused themself and offered 10% discount, which I found nice from them: hence 2 stars instead of 1.

It was my second time at Chisou Sushi and Izakaya. I made a reservation online but I also made a mistake when selecting the dining area. I asked if it would be possible to move to another table, and I was pleased about the attention and the effort to make that possible. After a few minutes, we were sitting in another table. Also, I was celebrating my BD, and I was gifted with a BD dessert at the end of our meal. The quality of the food was over the top. We were recommended 2 different types of delicious hot Sake too. The attention and service provided by the staff was 10/10. It was a great evening! Thank you!

A regular favourite. Great selection of sushi and asahi on draught. Can recommend the truffle snow crab in particular.

Had a quick lunch whilst shopping around Bond Street. Service was efficient, we were in and out within 45mins which suited us. Lamb chops were especially nice. Ideal for a lunch if you are local to the area and wanting sushi.

We ordered the Lunch menu at £29.8 the sashimi set and a special sashimi set The special sashimi set comes with tempura It comes with salad, miso soup dessert and a bow of rice Everything is ok to the price. Just the rice is not as good as the others. If they could use Japanese rice it will be better. It’s a normal rice not the sushi rice which normally less hot and with favour The service was ok and once you arrive they will ask you for sparkling water or still water £5.9 and I wish I did ask for tap water

Great customer services, delicious ramen.

We were greeted by 2 exceptionally kind and outgoing staff who explained our menu and what to order.The room was quite packed and awkward which put us off slightly.We were heavily dissatisfied by our main courses of tempura udon as they had put a giant shrimp in the broth making it off putting and giving it a soggy texture.The other dishes were nothing special as well but the salmon teriyaki was quite nice and I would recommend it.The last straw for us though was when we were served a cut-up orange with a single grape in it as a “dessert” and it was not worth the money.

My wife and I used to be loyal customers at Chisou - while we understood that it is a fusion restaurant, we still believed that it is leaning towards an authentic Japanese dining experience that we love. Unfortunately, 2 weeks ago we experienced a very bad food quality at Chisou. My wife ordered sashimi set and it was not fresh. Additionally, my iberical katsu pork was looking more like a schnitzel than a proper katsu cutlet. I am not being mean - if you ever tried a tonkatsu from Maisen, Saboten, in Japan... you will immediately know what I am talking about. It should be chunky not that flattened!

From Japan to the plate, simply perfect!

We had the best raw fish and the best time. The sashimi and nigiri was really fresh and delicious. We booked a reservation to be seated at the bar so we could watch the chefs prepare the dishes which I would recommend if you’re like us and love to watch. The price is a bit high which is reflected by the high quality fish. I would still totally visit again as I still want to try more of their menu. The staff were lovely and I love the wooden interiors inside. Such a beautiful restaurant. I’ll be back soon hopefully!

Went on a Saturday. We were greeted and served by the lovely staff. We had nigiri, maki and few more dishes that I only recall the awesome taste. Highly recommended.

The service was great and most of the sushi was good albeit a little dry, but I was a bit disappointed by the uni. While it tasted fine it was weirdly watery, not a texture I’ve seen before, so it was a bit too expensive for that quality. The fatty/fattest tuna could have also been a bit better, the colours were quite dark and tasted more lean than otoro and chutoro should be. The matcha brulee was very nice though.

Always a good experience here, it's one of my favourite Japanese restaurants (that doesn't charge the highest prices!). I've come here for dates, team meals. Lunch or dinner (they do good lunch sets at good value). I've sat at the counter before which is quite fun for 2/3 people to watch the food being prepared. 1 Feb 2024 treated my brother for a birthday dinner here and had the 4 person sashimi omakase and nigiri set, soft shell crab and tempura set. All delicious as per usual! 😋😋. I went on my own once on a Friday evening after a late working day (walk in). Restaurant was fully booked except outdoor. The outdoor seating has heating and they offer blankets! Service still good although as they were busy I had to wait a bit to get my bill. Food: Sashimi always good quality and nice thick cuts. Really delicious!!! Especially my most recent visit on a Friday evening. Nigiri - neatly and nicely prepared. Will continue to visit again and again 😁

***Best Otoro in London*** After extensive research by my relative, a professional chef from Belgium, looking for the best sushi place in London that offers both Otoro and Uni (sea urchin), she selected this place, and oh my goodness, was she spot on! First of all, the staff are super friendly and professional. The atmosphere of the place is superb. We opted for the sushi bar seating to have a full, traditional Japanese sushi indulgence experience. Watching the sushi chefs (chef Ye in particular) prepare the food was amazing. The precision and passion he portrayed were exceptional. We ordered:. 1- Kimchi Fried Rice, which was lovely and refreshing. 2- Aburi Shime Saba (fillet of marinated mackerel seared tableside), which was surprisingly tasty, as I'd never imagined raw mackerel could taste that good. 3- The special dish of the day, Seabass Sashimi with yuzu and truffle, which was fantastic. Very smooth and packed with flavour pieces of fish drizzled with truffle goodness. This was exceptionally yummy. 5- A selection of sushi rolls and nigiri, mainly what we came for: the Otoro and Uni. It was also my first time trying them, and I was mind-blown by the texture and richness of the Otoro. *Like buttery velvet melting on your tongue, it was the epitome of melt-in-your-mouth perfection.* My relative, who has very sophisticated taste buds due to her profession and passion for high-quality food, was also quite impressed with the quality of the fish cuts. *She declared it the best Otoro she's ever had, and trust me, she's had her fair share!* The hero of the day for me was the Uni, which I'd anticipated much about. The second this food hits your tongue, you'll be transported to the beach, tasting the freshness of the sea and the sweetness of its unique flavour. After a brief discussion with Chef Niko praising his and Chef Ye's mastery skills, he recommended another form of Uni served in a spoon, topped with salmon eggs and caviar. This was a mouthful of heavenly goodness that literally blew my mind like nothing before!!! The details and care put into preparing these explosions of seafood deliciousnes were transferred through my mouth to my brain, creating a memory of unmatched flavour. I can definitely say this has been the best sushi bar experience I've ever had. At the end of a very special night, were extremely delighted with entire experience from the delightful staff, high skilled chefs, specifically chef Ye, to the fantastic dishes offered here.

I know that many people wouldn’t check the item on the bills. Their optional service charge is fixed at 25%. And my experience is that the manager not let me go unless I paid 25% but not my choice. As when we arrived the restaurant, the manage let others cut the queue, I’m absolutely not happy with this. The staff was not satisfied with the amount of service charge I willing to paid I, and I confirm term of the Service Charge is OPTIONAL. The staff refused it’s optional and asked the manger, recapped that it’s not optional and I could not leave until I paid the 25% service charge. I strongly believe that It’s a fraud.

I visited the restaurant by accident. There was a backdoor, and my friend and I entered from there. We went upstairs, and after waiting for a while without anyone serving us, we decided to sit at one of the tables. While looking at the menu(15 mins later), a blond-haired female approached us and asked if someone had directed us to the table. I explained that no one had, and I politely requested to be seated at the table we had chosen. Surprisingly, she said "NO" without any explanation. She insisted we come to the reception, and despite my repeated requests, she refused to let us stay at the table we initially took.

I have both dined in at Chisou Sushi and Izakaya and I have also ordered takeaway in many occasions and I can honestly say that my expectations are not only met, but they are always exceeded! The quality of the sushi is superior…. So fresh and delicious! The other food items that I have ordered are also amazing and the presentation is beautiful! Top notch sushi!

Simply amazing experience. We googled this place & though this looks like a cosy restaurant to go to. On the arrival we didn’t had a reservation for the table & there was no empty tables, so we accepted a table outside which had a lovely heaters, after 5 mins the lady named - Keren came and said that they’ve got a free table for us! So we thought this is amazing, but after that everything just got even better & better. All the staff was so attentive & so kind, but we had a special care from - Elijah who was just brilliant, very polite, attentive, the timing betwen aroun dishes was so well thought. All the Sushi & seaweed selection was a too quality, was just simply melting in the mounth… & the atmosphere made us feel like at home…Thank you so much! 🤍🍣💯

Some of the best quality fish I’ve had in London. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and detail oriented. We had the omakase which was excellent, the fish is cut with precision, and the taste is clean and flavourful. We also had shrimp tempura (delicious) and an assortment of desserts, I highly recommend the home made matcha brûlée. I recommend sitting at the sushi bar to watch the chefs work. Fantastic place and will be coming back again!

Chisou is the perfect place for a lunch break in Mayfair. The sashimi platter is a very generous portion and the quality of the fish is excellent. I also really enjoyed the spinach salad. The service was excellent, our waitress was friendly and very helpful with the menu. I would recommend booking in advance as this is a popular spot for lunchtime!

Pricy for mediocre udon soup. Broth, noodles and 2 slices of thin tofu. Looked sad. But the staff are nice and the interior is beautiful. And £62 for wagyu steak that was literally 6 or so pieces. Sad.

December 27, the sashimi seems not that fresh. They looked good, but I suffered three hours of puke and diarrhea at night after eating. Been Chisou lot of times, but disappointed me this time. Other than sashimi, everything else was great

Food was ok. I really liked the aubergine dish but the rest was really not special. The salads were not good, at all.

Delicious food (we tried a few different sushi dishes and the black cod - latter especially was exceptional). Very friendly service. Tables are a little tightly packed but you don’t really mind. Dress code is pretty casual. More selection of wine by the glass would be ideal but again you can make do.

Service is good but food is disappointing. Sushi rice is dry and hard(not rich in texture), sushi fish is just okay(not as fresh as expected), and no fresh wasabi provided.

Apparently menu for 2 people cannot be served for two people but only for 4 if that's the table size? Absolutely unpleasant customer service. For a restaurant of this calibre I did not expect this unreasonable service.

Very authentic and friendly I had some nigiri , salad, some sashimi and a crunchie roll. 2 ice cream and a drink, £70 m. Not bad.
