Chiquito - Portsmouth - Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth

Visited on a Sunday afternoon so it was very busy with families. We asked for a quieter table for two and were tucked under the states in a perfect little spot. Good was good and we enjoyed our visit.

What a disaster!!!! Picked the lunch special , never waited so long ever for food . Could hear other diners complaining about wait , raw burgers , wrong orders. When serviced with main course asked if we wanted sauce , and never got any. Restaurant wasn’t even busy. Gave up on dessert as already been there 1 1/2 hours and couldn’t wait any longer. Avoid this place if you want an enjoyable experience. Food was ok , and I mean just ok . Wish we went else where.

I ate lunch at this restaurant yesterday. I had an e-mail stating a 40% discount was available. However, my server said that only a 30% discount with a cinema ticket was available. My wife has just received an e-mail from Chiquitos stating a 40% discount is available. I feel I’ve been hoodwinked, lured into their restaurant with the promise of a discount that wouldn’t be honoured, I won’t be visiting any Chiquitos restaurants any time soon.

The tables where tiny, Always a Que at the door even through there are free tables. The food came out in under 5 mins It was worse than Wetherspoons Small portions everything looked like it was out the microwave or boil in bag The added extras where literally one folk of the selected item Over priced, pre cooked kept warm food Don’t bother

I generally really like this resturant and enjoy the food but I'm really dissapointed by my recent experience, both at the resturant and after. I went here for my birthday at the beginning of July - all started okay, service was pretty quick and polite but towards the end, there was just so much smoke in the resturant that myself and two others on the table were fighting againt an asthma attack! Nothing was done about this at all, not even offered water or recieved any acknowledgement that anything was happening. This added to the rather small amount of food I recieved in comparison to other trips was disappoining. To make matters even worse, I was charged for something that I was offered as a usually free aextra, without being informed it would be at an extra cost. However, I couldn't raise it at the time given the fact that I was still fighting the smoke. I have since tried to contact Chiquito through their feedback form and via direct email to the branch and nothing... pretty bad customer service really.

Worst place ever! The starters took more than 30 mins to come, the mains were taking longer so we politely asked the waiter how long it was going to take as we had booked cinema. She said she didn’t know and if we were in a hurry we shouldn’t have ordered starters. She was extremely rude. We missed our cinema session for very average dishes, terrible service and left the place smelling like fried food as the ventilation on the place is non existent. Stay away!

We had a family meal here and the restaurant were excellent with our two toddlers providing high chairs and crayons etc. They bought their meals up first which was really helpful. Unfortunately they messed up our orders and service was slow and the food was mediocre.

We were spoilt for choice and decided to have a sharer with sides instead of a main meal. Food was amazing. Fast service and good value for money. We had a bottle of wine which was priced reasonably. Outstanding staff member was Louie, friendly and professional. He is a credit to the team.

This is the second time we have lunch at Chiquito. We have learnt from our first experience that it’s best to book a table which we did today. It’s no surprise it’s always busy and customers on the waiting list happily wait for a table. The ambiance is so joyful, nicely decorated. The waiters are so kind and professional. The food really tasty both visits. A big big thank to Liam our super helpful waiter today helped with recommendation and all was good. Liam even checked on us few times and followed our order up without us even asking,made sure we’re happy and served with a big smile! And that’s with the restaurant packed! Liam managed to keep all the tables he served happy. We’re definitely going back.

Great mexican restaurant with a really wide selection of food We had the loaded nachos to start with chicken and chorizo, which was delicious, followed by the shredded beef chimichanga and a texas burger with sweet potato fries. I absolutely loved the food but was absolutely stuffed after 😆 A huge shout out as well to our lovely waitress ( Caroline), who was very friendly and helpful. She made our dining experience a great one 👍🏼

What a fantastic place! Kieran was an excellent server - he was so friendly and really helped us enjoy our meal on a day when we had just turned up without a reservation. Really lovely food, great speedy service and reasonably priced. Great awareness of allergens and very attentive. Thank you to all the staff but especially Kieran.

We went without booking on my husband birthday (we unexpectedly had to spend the night in Portsmouth). Despite the restaurant being full, Aguistino found us a table and made sure we had a memorable evening. Thank you so much for a fantastic evening!

Our server Kieran was awesome. Fantastic food...great service and friendly atmosphere. Also liked the servers StarWars tattoos and advised him against a JarJar upgrade, which I'm sure he'll be thankful for in later life.

This is my first visit since December 2020 and i was very pleased with the service and attention we had from the guy who served us . I think he is Italian and his name is Agostinho. He made our evening very special and all our requests were met . The team seem to have been well schooled by the Italian guy to put the customer first. Even minor things like a table clearer dropping a knife on the floor is met by a quick glance from him to check whether customers have been inconvenienced. 10 of 10 , we will be definitely back !
