Chippy Joe in East Devon

What can I say. Arrived in Honiton a town i know well, but not my town of residence. On a cold January evening, just gone 6pm. Decided for ease, Fish & Chips would do. Entered their establishment, 3 screened counters, 2 staff & one customer. Ordered immediately to stand outside, as only one person allowed on at a time. Paid 10.50 for Fish, Chips & Sauce. The young girl served me, who was pleasant, while the own slumped over the till deep into her phone. Rude! They were over cooked, rubbery, had a strange taste as if the fat was old. Could not finish them, had to throw them away. For a proprietor who owns there own business, she had zero customer respect. Which is why they own & always will do, a sleazy chip shop on a sleazy street in a small town. Not a place to visit or even give them the grace of your hard earned money.

Blink and you would miss it as it is an entrance at one end and leave by the other entrance. I am disabled and use a scooter and the server came out, took and fulfilled my order, which was very kind of her. It is a takeaway premises. I use it at lunchtimes mainly my meal was of a good quality and the chips are hot and plentiful.

Easily the best in the area, generous portions good value for money.easy to park as car park opposite.always a que so be prepared to wait.

This chippy is excellent. There is a car park almost opposite, and i often take a group of a dozen or so from Southampton to Dartmoor, and if I don’t stop the minibus here for fish and chips i am in real trouble with the guys.

Worst chippy in Stanley by far horrendous food taste nothing like it should nothing like anywhere else, really awful food went to waste in the bin. Wasted money.

Food was ordered for 8.30 delivery, arrived 45mins before the requested time. So when people arrived home their food was cold and missing the chips which were to be included in a deal. This is the first wrong order we've had and will be back

sent curry sauce instead of gravy but other than that everything was lovely ☺️

All food lovely, only one small issue - “thin base” pizza that I ordered was not exactly thin based, it was quite thick. Otherwise I would definitely order again.

Incorrect order delivered and when informed told sending missing items straight down. Still waiting hour and a half later. Given these guys so many chances but not anymore, will never return.

Usually ok but fish fritter the potato wasn't cooked and don't order chips anymore, but can't find a decent chip in Stanley

absolutely terrible I asked for a large mixed wrap and got no kebab meat on it it was tiny mostly chips with a little bit meat I ate it because I was hungry but never going back

Ordered chicken wrap might as well of ordered a chip wrap was only about 7 pieces of chicken in whole thing and chips where awful :(

I ordered 2 cod and 1 large chips, they wrapped one cod and chips together and the other cod must have been wrapped in paper immediately after coming out of the fryer because the batter was soggy and stuck to the paper.... obviously I didn’t end up eating this (the other one was ok..) we also ordered the black pudding fritters and a hot chilli dip.. the fritters I couldn’t fault but the dip was layers of chilli and garlic... like if I wanted garlic I would have ordered it... the first couple of dips in the chilli sauce were delicious but completely ruined by the garlic which was just a really obscure.! Sad times... glad I bought cake on the way home for pudding or I would have gone to bed starving!! Delivery came early, and the food was hot when it arrived... it’s just a shame the fish was still coated in grease and the chilli sauce was stupid! :(

hard chips and greasy, wrap was far to full to much garlic. Kebab was awful.

Food arrived early, was piping hot and very enjoyable. We will definitely use Tanfield Chippy again.

The delivery was late. The food cold. Fish stuck to paper losing half the batter. Usually far superior service and food than tonight. Only saving grace was the driver was friendly and apologised. It will be a while before I order takeaway from here again. The snowballs in my hands last were hotter.

waited an hour 30 minutes for order it arrived and luke warm! pita and sauce missing from order and the chicken was just full of fat and bones!!! what a complete waste of money! the whole meal landed in the bin! disappointed as we always use this takeaway but won't be using it again!

food was late but for more than an understandable reason considering the weather. it was piping hot and they were doing all they could to get it to us as fast as they could. food also was amazing. brilliant service

I i ordered online stating for a 8pm delivery.8.15pm still order xalled told its on the way.But i used justeat.co.uk and ordered at 6pmish so they had plenty of time.Food arrived cold and to be honest not with a oenny let alone £16 stay away they take your money but don’t deliver

The chips was reheated and the chicken burger was very chewy won’t be ordering again as I like fresh food and the wait was ridiculous for such a little order, annoyed I’ve spent 15 pound on food I’ve binned as the kids won’t eat it and neither will I

I knew they’d be busy but when we called up (20 min after the delivery time) it hadn’t even left the shop which kind of annoyed me since the estimated delivery was only upped by 5 min

Have ordered food from here on numerous occasions and never had a complaint. However today the food was late and when it arrived it was freezing cold and totally inedible, only place for it was the bin. Contacted restaurant via just eat and was told if I wanted a refund I would need to return the food absolutely no way I was going in the bin to retrieve the bits of fish and chips suffice to say I won’t be ordering from here again

Ordered a 14inch pizza turned up hour early wrong size and burnt so rang and received a new one which was better but still bit burnt not worth the money.

Shocking easy placed order at 7.30 shows up at 9.20 and can't even get in touch with shop

The wrong order was delivered however the staff were helpful and this was rectified in less than 10 minutes which was great, food was amazing, chicken wrap was huge and the pizza was very good, will definitely use again 👌

Pop tasted funny so checked the date. Expired 31-1-17 Nearly a year out of date :0 And delivery was 35 minuets late again

Food here is really good but let down by delivery service, 70% of the time it’s late. And tonight it was half hour late and brought the wrong drink no one at home drinks Diet Coke full bottle wasted :(

poor service yes we did have weather conditions but I ordered at 6pm and it arrived at 9pm no communication very disappointed in service and the food it was cold and unedible never order again

Food missing from order oredered mixed kebab and only sent chicken

just had my food didn’t eat much of it I know the weather is bad but the pizza base was like it was from yesterday felt really stale and pizza had no taste at all. kebab meat still had a pulse just didn’t look cooked at all.. used abit In the past don’t know what’s happened to the place. won’t be back in a hurry. disappointed

Very tasty food with good portion sizes too. Even something that was ordered ‘small’ was still adequate. Yum yum spicy chilli sauce!

I ordered 4 pizzas with chips for myself and family The order was bang on time and we enjoyed our meal but we had to heat our pizzas in the microwave as it was nigh on cold. Pretty poor considering we only live less than a 3 minute drive away!!!!!

pizzas, kebab and burger were just say warm only thing was hot was the chips.. kebab meat was a bit rubbery. Ive never had any complaints about the food from here before until now.

absolutely disgusting no food was eaten when we unwrapped it, I arrived through the doors at my collection time which was 12:25 to see them only starting to make it one of the things I ordered was bolognaise chips and cheese, I looked over and seen one man bring out a kids cups that had clearly been microwaved and pour it on to the cheesy chips, it was like blended up beef absolutely vile to look at I wouldn’t even give it to my two cats, we ordered onion rings which must have had next to no onion in as we couldn’t find it, I will never use this take away again and would advise all that see this to stay well clear!!!! absolutely disgusted waste of money and now have to go out to get something else.

Food was cold when it arrived, the poor delivery driver was very apologetic but it’s not his fault it’s very bad organisation from the shop. Wouldn’t order from here, food was ok nothing to rave about, had to warm it up in the oven - defeats the object of getting a takeaway?!

Cold and half cooked chips , first and last time ordering

Ordered a wrap and chips. Usually very good, but this time the wrap wasn't even wrapped up, so all fell out the bottom. Got about half a portion of chips, despite ordering a large. And to top it all off, everything was cold.

Ordered a few things, the garlic bread special was just a plain garlic bread, when I rang they first said they had no record of the order then tried to say thats what I ordered when I was looking at the order on just eat and knew what was on it, told me the boss would ring and when he did he just said I will send a portion of kebab and a tub garlic sauce. No chips, and the pizza for the kids was too thick of cheese could not taste anything else, the actual plain garlic bread we ordered came with cheese which nobody likes. Will not order from again as not only was most of the order wrong but wasn't very nice either and we all left most of it!

I was disgusted with my order they sent a plain garlic bread when I ordered a garlic bread special and when they fetched the right order after ringing them the portion was disgusting for the price I paid so I will never order from there again

Order came late and driver said theyve forgotten thw bottle of pop drop it off next time in the area ? Chicken kebab cold and needed reheated , pizza had a burnt base so that spoilt any taste it may of had , chips clay cold overall terrible wouldnt reorder

Awful awful awful. Went in the bin. Burnt greasy pizza and fatty chicken gristle with old chips. Probably the remnants of someine elses leftovers! Avoid like the plague.

Ordered salami 12 inch pizza and chicken kebab with chips. Where to start... pizza was swimming in grease, no flavour and bottom and edges burnt to a crisp. Chicken kebab costing £6.50 consisted of a 1/4 bag of chips which were floppy and old. Chicken?? More like chicken skin, fat and gristle! Bland and clearly the cut offs from the dogs dinner. Absolutely vile. Save your money and go to a different take out. Waste of £16.50!

good food if it wasn't cold on delivery

Rang up about food being late girl on phone was very pleasant , unfortunately food was late but the delivery driver apologised straight away great customer service . The food was very poor to say the least our chicken kebab was not real chicken was very fatty and it looked as if it was put through the washing machine when we got to it. Overall for the price of £17 for 1 kebab, chips and a bottle of pop we were very unsatisfied and will not be ordering again

Ordered a large kebab chips & gravy very disappointed in the portion size for £9.50 it was a shambles . Certainly wasn't a large you should state it all came in the same tray , basically got a small tray of meat with a few chips . Sorry folks i'll not be back .

Driver rings me and tells me I won't get my food because I didn't answer the door and accuses me of 'doing this all the time' He was trying to deliver the food to the wrong address. Food over 50 mins late and obviously cold.

Not happy as it said orders over £20 got free garlic bread but we didn't get this!!!

My chicken burger was "off the rails" and the pizza was nice too. Yum.

Only every tried the Fish and Chips from this shop and they are 100% spot on - Seaside tasty good. The cod is real cod and large - perfect batter mix and the chips have that tradional chippy fresh taste.. They are generous on the portion sizes and presented in large fish chip box. Have tried other chip shops in the area and they just don't compare to this place. Will be back for more - Delivery time was perfect - This place deserves very high KUDOS - i am real picky - Its so nice to finally found a decent chippy

Food arrived 45 minutes late which was nearly 2 hours after ordering, order was also wrong but wasn't going to call back after waiting already.

There was something missing from my order and the delivery driver was lovely. He apologised and quickly returned with the missing food, great service!

can't get the order right or deliver on time

First few orders were good but has steadly gone downhill lukewarm and not fresh would not feed them to the dog.

food arrived over 45 minutes late totalling 1hr 30 minutes, which is unacceptable. Adding insult to injury they also messed the order up after both texting via the app and ringing them. will not be using again!
