My favourite Chinese takeaway in Brighton. Who loves a cheeky takeaway treat, me 🙋🏻‍♀️!! What’s even better is the affordable prices. The portion sizes are quite large, so no need to over-order, freshly cooked and very tasty !!! 🫶 I always have the same dishes: Crispy smoked chicken (Deep fried in light crispy corn flour coating) and Chicken Chow Mein 👍

I had the chicken curry with boiled rice takeaway, good sized portion and really tasty 😋 Well packed and was piping hot when I got home. A small portion of complementary prawn crackers was an added treat 🦐 I will be coming back to sample my other favourites from the menu 👍

Order took 90mins to arrive. When I called they said order was on the way, twice. When the order eventually arrived, the food was cold and missing items.

I like it here, a good solid Chinese and the food is nice. Nothing crazy on the menu but everything you'd expect from a Chinese (and good vegan options). Comforting, easy, well-priced and quick :)

First time ordering from China Star, the food was really tasty and arrived still hot. Delivery was quick and will definitely order again from here. I recommend the Malaysian satay.

We have been regulars of China star, unfortunately the food we received this evening wasn't up to their usual standards. Everything was flavourless, the Kung po prawns had barely any spice. The dumplings were soggy and unpleasant. Really disappointed

Website was easy to use and food was ready quick. Egg fried rice was smaller than expected but still good to eat

Gave me and partner food poisoning even though we only ate small amount as was disgusting. I ordered for 7.15pm as partner was back at 7pm. They showed up 6pm I sent away then they returned and as I feared had kept the some order sat there for an hour reheated it and sent it back to us. It cost £41 and most went in bin as it tasted so oily and dry. Won't probably order Chinese ever again as was then up all night throwing up.

I ordered a meal at 5pm for delivery at 7.30pm . It arrived at 5.15pm! I clearly told the driver I look forward to seeing him later. He apparently told his Boss we did not want it so they cancelled my order. I reordered the meal at 7pm which they emailed me had been accepted. Then they emailed me again to say the order had been cancelled. Please don't use this company

The Singapore Noodles and the Crispy Smoked Chicken were really tasty and reasonably priced for the large portions. Will return given the opportunity.

My favourite Chinese. I've been enjoying China star for years. Recently I have had to go dairy free. I called the restaurant before I ordered to check my dietary requirements. They were really helpful and provided me with the info I needed. Once ordered the food arrived on time, hot, fresh and so tasty.

Great service. The veggie duck pancakes arrived without the salad bits however they very kindly brought it immediately and even threw in some free prawn crackers. Tasted great everyone was happy and went on an oriental journey of flavour.

I ordered a duck chef special from here not expecting much (because of the reviews) as it was close but to my surprise the service was immaculate. You can tell its a family run business because he had his kids running the front desk. They were more customer facing and reasonable than most adult staff Ive had dealings with! The food itself was bang on for the price you pay and collection is a 30 minute wait, if that!

Unfortunately my Wife ordered food from here. chicken curry was so watered down the chicken was swimming and when put on to the dry rice it just absorbed into it leaving no trace of the curry sauce. The rest of the food was also dry. (Beefchowmain. Sweat & sour Hong-Kong style). Including the chicken balls that came with no sweat and sour sauce. I took a picture of one. Obviously trying to make some money back but forgot about customer satisfaction, I will not order from here again.

Don't bother, had several orders cancelled without warning close to scheduled arrival whether direct or via Just Eat etc. Never again will I try. Shame as the food is nice but your service is terrible. If you re too busy maybe think about stopping taking orders rather than leaving people stuck. Avoid avoid avoid

Brilliant food! No clue what the other reviews are saying to be honest. Normally after a Chinese you feel a little greasy, but not with this one was amazing! Definitely coming here again!

It's a shame I'm having to review this place. It was always my place to go. But unfortunately this was the last time. It's gone down hill badly. Go somewhere else . Read you're customers complaints. You're restaurant is failing!!!

I do not usually write reviews, but this is The worst Chinese takeaway I have had!! The chicken curry was extremely poor, it tasted like a ton of pepper had been dumped into it with no other flavours, and the vegetables with cashews was utterly tasteless; we left most of it. When I took the meal back the next day and complained, the manager started shouting at me that I had eaten most of it. I replied that the rest is in the bin and I can fish it out for him if needed. I will never order from here again because of the awful food and equally awful customer service, and I’m incredulous at all the 5 star reviews; are they real?

Food ordered and ready on time. Honey spare ribs which were chewy and tasted watery crispy squid was not crispy.Egg fried rice chicken chow mein and stir fry noodles with veg which looked reheated but tasted ok.Disappointing as sone of their reviews are good.

Ordered somewhat regularly from this place for a few months. Most of their food was not great... for instance, vegetable fried rice had weird assortment of vegetables (lots of water chestnuts and beansprouts) that made the texture gross and unappealing (and I'm a vegetable lover!). The Thai spicy fried rice is listed as "vegetarian" but reeked of seafood. In general, their rice is just not good. But, through trial and error, I found a few other things I liked and, since it was near my house, I found it to be convenient for when I needed a quick bite to eat. Unfortunately, last time I ordered (couple weeks ago) I found some kind of dead insect/larvae at the bottom of a dish I'd just finished eating! I didn't get sick or anything, but needless to say, I was not happy to see that... and now I am no longer confident in their kitchen hygiene. I will not be returning.

I payed 17.95 for way over cooked BBQ spear ribs sweet and sour pork balls that where fatty and pink in the middle meaning under cooked and beef chow main that tasted wired and the beef was chewy so desusting !!!!!

Awful....delivered order partly wrong..tried to phone for 20 minutes and ended up going to the shop. Was told that they would just cook me some rice to go with my dish I asked for a fresh meal as the main would be cold by the time they’d finished and I got back home. My original meal was just put in a keep hot bag...presumably to be warmed up next time someone ordered it. Got home and it was like salt gravy in a pot with a few chunks of duck and Chinese leaf.

Quick delivery but the food was dry overcooked the seaweed was stale. And the duck was more bone than meat . we didnt even get what we ordered ... my dog turned his nose up at it

china star is by far the best chinese and i have tried pretty much all of them. some of my favourite dishes from there are the homemade chinese curry, sweet and sour prawn balls or chicken the batter is very soft and light. satay sauce is very tasty and the rice is always yummy everything’s always so fresh. i also like the fact you can pay by card over the phone. i will never go anywhere else from now on it is heaven!!!

salt and pepper squid absolutely disgusting i tried two bits one so dry and hard went for a fatter piece it was mushy and wet more like cuttle fish picked off the beach after high tide really you must have contempt for us locals to sell us such junk if i lost the money on a bet i would have had better value avoid this dump the food was an insult not even fit for my dogs straight in the bin one star purely so i can post this shame on them

Its our local Chinese take away and have used it periodically for 20+years.Always been pretty good overall.

Tried to order on just eat but my order wouldn’t get accepted. I called in and the customer service was really smooth, she took my order and arrived in under 30 mins. My friend and I enjoyed most of the food, although the crispy noodles were questionable.

Ordered on just eat. Waited over 1 and a half hours. Starving. We Had email confirmation China start had received the order. Called the restaurant as the order never came. They said it wasn't their problem and that I had to get in touch with just eat. I asked them to contact just eat and they refused essenially saying it wasn't their issue. despite just eat confirming it was their transmitter that wasn't working). Eventually they told me to take my cash somewhere else. Shocking customer service and a disgraceful way to be treated. I was so disappointed as the takeaway was a treat for me and my girlfriend.

Staff very rude, dropped my change in my hand as if i got some sought of disease, and chilli beef and rice was ok only thing i enjoyed was aromatic duck, wont bother again,

Foods not the greatest but then I think that can be expected! Perfect for a hangover with great portion sizes! Really friendly people! And they often give you free cokes!

I cant believe that place is rated so high and their food and service are so bad . I went with the rating on google and ordered chicken showmein and meat spring rolls and salt and pepper squid! The spring roll when i was eating it the oil runs on mu fingers and hand , it was so so so oily !!! And tasted so bad . Then the squid was not fried it was over cooked and soo so chewy , finally the chowmien nodlles was over cooked. All in all bad experience
