Service was shocking and none existent The food was okay nothing to flavourful and portions weren’t massive

I went for a banquet with 3 friends and it was great! The food is delicious and quick, the servers are very polite and friendly, and the atmosphere makes anyone feel fancy.

OK. Let's get the gripes and moans out of the way. It's not the most inviting place you'll ever walk into. The entrance was tired and could make some think twice about carrying on up those drab steps. Thankfully, once in the main room, things perk up a bit and you are met by some very attentive staff who seem intent on making the entrance a distant memory. The place is nice enough, albeit a little rough around the edges. We had a dead fly on the window sill at our table. Some would see this as the worst thing in the World, but we used it as a source of amusement. It really didn't matter. The chairs could have been a bit comfier and for our personal taste, they felt way too low. The buffet menu is easy to follow and is explained well enough. Again, staff are never too far away and remain attentive, but never over bearing. Our soups were excellent. Neither of us thought twice about ordering more. The 'starters' are a simplistic selection, but done well. Thick prawn toast, the seaweed was my particular winner. Again, we had no qualms ordering a second helping. The duck course was everything you'd expect. For us, the duck could have been slightly hotter, but again we had no trouble polishing off the lot. The mains were a nice selection that covered most bases and the portions were ample, but again not over facing and didn't put you off wanting to try more than one. The weakest of our choices, was the sweet and sour pork. My personal winner, was the curry. One of the tastiest I've had. All in all, the whole experience was really good. A little bit tired around the edges, but the core elements, the food and the hosts, made sure we left knowing we'd probably walk up those tired looking steps again in the not too distant future. Obviously, if that fly is there next time, I'll probably kick off........

Superb, had a family meal on a Monday and the food was exquisite 👌🏼 every course was on point, service was top class and a lovely family atmosphere to the place. My Dad even asked to take a menu to promote 👏🏻

Food amazing, really well cooked and presented. Went for the eat all you can buffet option, portion sizes reasonable and offered more of each dish, apart from mains, expect we could have called someone over for another portion but they seemed to avoid our table after the main course, when we asked for the second portion of appetisers, the lady asked if we were sure! Was slightly awkward. Understand that it’s probably due to cost however would be happy to pay an extra amount and eat all you can!! Friendly staff and atmosphere, until the end of the evening, did feel that it let the night down after the main course, as it did feel like we were being avoided and not asked if we wanted more drinks or food. £63 for two people and 4 drinks which is great, would have happily paid more and eat more too!!

I was disappointed with the style and ambience of this venue. I felt like it needed a makeover. It didn't feel like the place to go for a pleasant evening in nice surroundings and certainly not the place to linger and have an after dinner drink. The buffet menu seemed popular and so that was what we both ordered. The staff who served us were both helpful and pleasant. However - the food could only be described as "ok" certainly nothing to make us want to return - which we won't. It seems to be popular with families with young children encouraged by the special offers of reduced prices. Perhaps just not ideal for couples..............

Absolutely spot on. Food was fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. staff were very pleasant and accommodating. As a vegetarian there were plenty of options for both vegetarian and vegan. My husband absolutely loved the starters and duck. We will definitely go again. 10 out of 10.

Unfortunately, the only decent Chinese left in Bury

Bought a takeaway earlier this evening as Zugafun in Ainsworth village has sadly closed. Ordered sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, barbecue spare ribs and Singapore fried rice. Total = £29.60. Four ribs with hardly any meat on them, overcooked and no sauce just a lot of oil. Singapore fried rice was nothing of the sort, sticky mess with a few very small bits of meat, shrimps and one king prawn. Sweet and sour was ok, nothing special but again the fried rice was not fried, just a sticky mess. I’ve dined here before with friends and it’s always been very good but this was a disaster and has to be the most expensive Chinese takeaway in Bury. On reflection, I should have gone back and demanded a refund but got involved with a family emergency. Needless to say won’t be returning. Makes you realise just what great value Zugafun was…..

Has to be a joke People actually recommend this place a so called buffet that isn’t a buffet ! But a tiny portion of tasteless gloop pretending to be authentic Chinese … the only thing Chinese about this place are the staff ! You actually choose what you want and are charged £25 each for a tiny bowl of sweetcorn soup which was devoid of chicken ! Asked do you want more ?? So that’s the actual con they give you tiny tasteless portions and ask you want some more ! Next the so called mixed platter chicken wings ( microwaved) crispy seaweed ( fried cabbage) awful greasy spring rolls devoid of any filling and prawn toast that was yuk ! Again quickly removed “ you want more ? “ I left what you brought me ! Next shredded duck pancakes small cold lukewarm tasteless microwaved duck that looked grey , only thing fresh was the cucumber… awful again picked at “ you want more ? “ this is getting tedious but mains to follow surely they can’t mess that up ! Yes they did a kiddies portion of chicken in some gloop sauce tasteless nothing Chinese about this I was still hungry asked for more rice and another extra dish … got the are you sure quizzed look as if I had asked her for a kidney !! Second tiny chicken dish came again tasteless gloop heavy in msg thickener all picked at . If anyone giving rave reviews to this place think they know food they haven’t a clue it’s awful at best . Lukewarm microwaved gloop that is more akin to spicy baby food than actual Chinese I dared not try the prawn variety or pork as I am not sure it was fresh as next 48 hours I was ill on the loo ! Truly bad and surprisingly I won’t be back , if the owners read this do you actually feed your family the same food ? I bet you don’t , group of 4 paid over £100 for nothing all complained was told you can order as much as you want ! What if it’s not edible ? Not Chinese , tasteless gloop ? Has to win the prize for worst meal I’ve had 2024 so far

Great choice for a banquet! All fresh hot and delicious. Big restaurant so great for groups. Beautifully dressed tables, and good value for the banquet. Repeat customer and always leave happy.

If you love chines food ,this is a good venue to visit..lots of free parking out the back.

Great quality Chinese food. Generous portion sizes of takeaway food- sometimes we share one dish. I've also eaten in the large restaurant area which is good but lacking in atmosphere for me.

Booked in advance (recommended) The staff are 50/50 here some are nice and friendly and some act like they don’t want to be there and can be quite rude. My partner ordered 3 samosas and prawn toast turned up. When my partner said sorry I ordered samosas the waitress argued with her and said “no you didn’t” Quite shocked at this. The food itself is excellent though no complaints about that. We had the buffet which is good value for money and has a good range to choose from. The restaurant is nice and clean , there is a lift to access the restaurant as well which is very handy Will visit again as the food is very good

We won't be returning here again we had a very grumpy waitress serve us infront of my children 2 and 9 Yr old we asked for another starter on a banquet we had 1 prawn toast left on our plate that my child was still going to eat as he's a slow eater he's 2 by the way! she then took the plate and said you haven't eaten your first so cant have another! She was very rude poor service really and it wasn't very busy at all I then asked if I could take my left overs home and was told no! I paid for that food! They also tried to over charge me for drinks which i had to correct them with, they dont seem to be organised at all. I had been coming here for over 7 years never will I be back this is the second bad experience I have had now in the space of 2 months. It isn't worth the money to have an ignorant rude waitress with an attitude and have things added to your bill very poor experience. Its stressful enough going for a meal with a toddler and young one I don't need the added extra of attitude and refusal of food we paid for I will never set foot in here again I complained about the attitude of the elderly grey haired Bob women aswell and just got a laugh in return as the woman i complained to clearly didnt understand me, joke really. Very horrible stressful evening out which I won't be repeating. All you can eat but it has to be within the building is how they should advertise.....if you pay for a starter a main regardless if ita a banquet and have left overs you should be allowed to take it home it's not like you can give it to another couple is it......or is that what you do?!? Shocking.

Visited as part of a large party on a busy night. We had all you can eat menu The food was delicious, and the service was fair for how busy the restaurant was. We just had to wait a little between courses. Would visit again.

We went for a meal on Saturday 9th December 2023. Excellent food had the salmon dish and a chicken dish plus egg fried rice. Excellent service and very nice staff. The best Chinese Restaurant we have been to. Would recommend.

If you feel hungry and love Chinese food, this is the place to go. I would recommend a party of friends to go (3 or more) . The selection you get is good and they keep coming with the food. Overall God valve and food is good.

First vist to China Rose after reading all the 5 star reviews saying how tasty the food is. Starters were good, the disappointment was the bland tasting main courses. Not sure if it's a bit hit and miss but we won't be going back any time soon.

Utter rubbish food! Couldn’t eat it! Asked if the shredded chilli beef was crispy , answer ‘ yes’ however it was a disgusting soggy overpriced mess! The same with the sweet n sour chicken balls sat in a pool of tasteless sauce ( we asked about these too prior to ordering) .. sooo disappointing.. not cheap at £40+ .. seriously the worst takeaway I’ve ever eaten , or not eaten in this case

It was so nice x I went with my family and got a bouquet or something like that and the food was so delicious the duck was so nice the service was brilliant the workers were so polite I think if you were going out somewhere posh choose here xx

Really friendly and helpful staff.Special thank you to the lovely young woman who went above and beyond to help our elderly frail parents up the stairs when they refused to use the lift then provided a cushion for extra comfort. The food was very good and service friendly and attentive. Small gripe would be we did not realise we could have ordered from the main menu too as well as the banquet as this was not offered. Everything clean and well presented, including the toilet facilities. Lovely gesture for Mother's day was all Mother's recieved a little gift wrapped mini bottle of wine, biscuit and sweet..

This was a great venue for a party of 12 having a family celebration. We took advantage of the buffet and it was both good value but more importantly quality food served by friendly staff. Loved the appetisers dish which came after the soup. Will definetly try again.

First ever visit and went for the ‘all you can eat banquet’. Absolutely fantastic - ignore the negative reviews. The chicken wings are on the salty side..but they are salt n pepper chicken wings so what do you expect? Certainly the best we’ve had and we eat out a lot. I definitely recommend the beef in black beef sauce. Very good value for money. The drinks bump the price but that’s expected anywhere. We look forward to going back.

Been here a few times now. The all you can eat buffet is great. Food is very good. They bumped up the prices to £35 a head over Xmas, so gave it a swerve then. Going back next week, so hopefully prices have gone back to normal again. Recommended

I always enjoy the China rose I have been many times, the food and service is great, I have had a table for 2 and had a table for 28 and still food and service was great, my favorite is the banquet but I have eaten many times of the menu too. Very much recommend

Had a beautiful dinner here with the in-laws at the start of the month. We chose the set menu option and had more than enough to eat - the crispy duck with pancakes was awesome. It was also lovely to try different things. Mum needed a cushion to boost her up a bit (she's only little) & that was brought without delay, then she had an amazing surprise as she'd been telling them what a lovely birthday she'd been having and they came out with gorgeous piece of cheesecake with a candle in it, singing to her! And then another surprise as they presented her with a bottle of wine in a sparkly gift bag! Such lovely touches which ensured we will definitely be back! You'll need to go, you won't be disappointed 🥰

Ordered barbacue spare ribs, chips and BoBo chicken. Ribs and chips ok but BoBo chicken unedable. Burnt to the point of being carbon and covered in sweet and sour sauce. Cardboard would have been tastier, avoid like the plague.

Had a lovely evening at my 1st visit to the China Rose celebrating my 60th Birthday with my family, Mr Eric and his staff went out of their way to ensure our evening went well from the initial discussion a few weeks ago to the evening itself nothing was too much trouble all the staff very helpful and polite and the food was excellent and was freshly cooked to order and more importantly we all left full Thanks for a lovely evening we will return soon for sure..

Had the Banquet, Soup was very nice, downward spiral with the rest of the meal, it all seemed to be microwaved, did not taste fresh and some parts lukewarm, expensive for what you get,it states all you can eat , struggled with the courses we had not enjoyable at all.

Here is great food, some a little on the cheap quality but I've definitely had worse. We have been a few times (when it was cheaper) but I personally don't think its worth the money now! It's quite expensive considering there are limited options on the 'all you can eat banquet' and you pay extra for king prawn or steak on the main, I think for £21.45 each it should definitely be included.

We both had different meals than usual, king prawn chow mein and sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice. I'm not usually keen on sweet and sour dishes but his was absolutley gorgeous not too sweet. Staff and service excellent

I took some friends who have learning disabilities and are on a budget. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We were only given the banquet menu at £21.45 each. I thought this is all they had to offer so we had no choice but to go with this menu. It was only when the next table asked for the main menu did I realise we’d not been given the choice. One person on our table has a very small appetite due to her condition so was unable to eat what was served (we never asked for more food which you are able to do on this menu). When it came to the main course she was unable to eat it. I asked for a box for her to take it home but was told we wasn’t allowed to take a doggy bag....it was going in the bin (I hope!) otherwise! Seems ridiculous. Wouldn’t go again

Go in for the banquet quite often which consists of choice of soup then a dim sum platter and crispy duck and pancakes all of which can be reordered again and again, after which you get your main dish. For between 15 and 20 quid I think it's a bargain and the food is great quality.

Never ever leave reviews. After coming here randomly due to the Chinese we go to normally in bury town centre being closed. Google brought us here. OMG I'm so glad it did. Lovely food and lovely service. Food 10/10 . Beautiful.

Decided to give it a try, but I couldn't honestly recommend it. Went for the all you can eat menu, however this is not a help yourself buffet, waiter service, when you finish one course a waiter serves the next, which in theory is OK but you are at the mercy of the waiter, and having to wait up to 1/2 an hour for waiter to come to you then serving warm (not hot) food leaves a lot to be desired. I have had both Chinese and Indian buffets in the past, and I am afraid this one does not rate amongst the best.

Always consistently good restaurant with quick takeaway service. Never had a bad meal. Just a shame that there’s no delivery service.

Honestly this is not nice at all. The food is not buffet and cooked fresh but tastes worse than if it was in a buffet. Really low quality food to the point where the meat tastes watery. Would never eat here again.

We called in for a midweek meal. It was fairly quiet so no booking required. The food was delicious & staff very friendly. Prices were reasonable & there are plenty of tables The restaurant had been recommended by a number of people & we weren’t disappointed.I imagine it has a good atmosphere when it’s busy.

Fab Chinese Restaurant this, entering it through a little door at the side of the Coop you would be right in wondering where on Earth it would take you, upstairs it opens up in a huge restaurant, food is amazing here & the staff are very friendly & helpful.

The China Rose is our local Chinese restaurant and we visit pretty regularly. The banquet is good value and alcohol is pretty cheap too. My girlfriend and I visited the other day and it was only £50 for the banquet and two drinks each.

Went on Sunday it was brilliant food was great as was the staff would definitely recommend going here will go back

Menu was confusing and the staff were certainly not overly friendly. 15 of us celebrating our grandsons 18th birthday. The food was ok , but the service was very slow !! Having two children, three oaps, and others it took over three hours and the kids certainly became board as did the rest of us.

Food wasnt great took ages to get served probably not enough staff due to being mothers day but for what you got its overpriced

We visited on a week night. We usually go on a Saturday and we’ve never had a bad meal there. However last visit was a bit disappointing. We had salt and pepper chicken wings to start absolutely delicious then duck pancakes which also were amazing. Then for main we ordered chicken garlic and chilli and chicken fried rice with a curry sauce. The curry sauce and rice was perfect however the chicken was awful. It was very rubbery in texture as if it had been injected with water solution?? It really spoiled it for us, we’ve never had it taste like that before we couldn’t eat it. Such a shame as the service and all over meals were so good. We’ll visit again as it’s usually so nice there and can’t fault the service but we’ll probably avoid a chicken dish.

We had the banquet and it was great. I am vegetarian and they were more than happy to do a vegetarian banquet. Great variety of vegetarian mains and starters food was all delicious and you can ask for seconds for any of the courses in the banquet. Service was quick and friendly.

Went to China Rose on a Friday night with my wife. We had heard about this place off friends and thought we’d give it a try. I don’t really like all you can eat food but this place is a real gem. For a set price you can eat as much as you want. All freshly made and served to ur table . You can order each course as many times as you want.

Been numerous times with my partner and children. Can’t moan at the food can have as much as you want for the price. However there is a staff member that lets the other team members down. Goes by the name “Eric”. He is lazy, stares at you when you have plates on your table that need to be cleared, hides in the back, never smiles, doesn’t look like he’s happy to be in the job and to be honest we dread having him as a server. Tammy is excellent she is very attentive and welcoming she’s always a pleasure to see. Would be great to see tony back in there as he was also an asset to the business.

my friend booked for a party of 6 people as a friends reunion. we ordered a bunch of starters, one of us is a big fan of the crispy duck as that was the second time she visited here and she just couldn't deny how much she loves it. salt pepper chicken wings are so good that we ordered twice to share. me personally fancy the creamy king prawn, wrapped with butter mixed with sort of sweet texture. for the main course, we shared all together, and the sizziling fillet steak recommeded by my friedn is definitely spot on. staffs are quite handy by the way, and no rush for our meal. we had a great night out. although this is my first time been in this restaurant, but defintely will make my way back..

Where do I start ok here goes got shown to a table after we had pre booked and we ordered drinks, the shandy came as a pint of bitter, the larger came as larger & lime and the lime & lemonade didn’t arrive. One of the party wanted a all you can eat buffet but they said no it’s for a minimum of 2 people then insinuated that we would share it around the table. We ordered and then the soup came the chicken and sweet corn was just about hot enough but the hot and spicy soup was tepid to say the least, then was the turn of the spare ribs and spring rolls, you can’t go wrong with a spring roll really but the ribs in OK sauce were cut into very small pieces the sauce was beautiful but the meat was disgusting all dried up. Then the salt and pepper ribs had a nice crispy outer but where was the meat I’m not being funny but there is more meat on the bones I give to the dog. The aray of main courses came and the special fried rice with NO PRAWNS came with prawns the chips were hard and over cooked the chicken skewers were under cooked one of our party bit into one and there was blood. The majority of the mains were mainly vegetables with small amounts of meet in them. The next round of drinks were ordered and yes you guessed it wrong again. The service was terrible to say the place was less than half full and it’s safe to say we will not be going back especially now I’ve just been told two of our party have been vomiting since going. As for value for money it’s an expensive meal for what you get and the service is not good.

Was there this evening... Booked table for 7.30...11 of US...Food was Delish... Serve really poor... We were there for 3hrs. Plates were cold. Waiting for different courses and fitting it wrong. Food ended up cold. Git drinks from the bar and recieved change in Euros....Not good enough... approach staff.. two of us separate and they were NOT Interested... They have list 11 regular customers!!

The banquet on a Friday and Saturday is terrific value with tasty, well-presented dishes, any of which can be repeated at no extra charge (except for the duck pancakes for which there is a charge). The large upstairs room is well-appointed yet retains the feel of an actual restaurant in Beijing. The service is friendly and helpful. The only issue for non-locals could be parking in Tottington. Overall, a terrific local restaurant
