Really good Chinese with very tasty dishes and good service. They have a separate bar and some high tables for people who want to eat small plates. Free parking behind the restaurant. Recommended.

Visited with friends on a Sunday for a birthday meal. First visit for me. Good a la carte options and the set menu we had was excellent value for money

First time diners here, (it was a Wednesday evening) .. First impressions upon entering, great decor, tables were nicely spaced out..We received a lovely and friendly welcome.... Good attentive service by all the staff, particularly Steve, nothing was too much trouble...thanks for your patience. There is an extensive and well described menu, and more importantly, the food tasted great. We will definitely return and highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends. I don't understand what some reviewers are saying about portions sizes being small and prices expensive, we found the portion sizes were generous and the bill was extremely reasonable... by the way, the biscoff cheesecake was divine! See you again soon guys, and thanks for a wonderful dining experience.

Its a nice place but I've been twice and it always feels like they're in a hurry. Our booking was for 6pm, arrived a few minutes before that, perfect!, shown to a table and before I've taken off my jacket, the waiter is already putting menus down in the places at one minute past 6 we were asked what drinks we wanted and aless than 5 minutes later , were we ready to order? (no). When we did order, the waiter was finishing my wife's sentences and it all feels a bit rushed for me , took a look around and it was little more than half capacity so I wouldn't like to go when its at full tilt because they presumably serve the food with a catapult. One saving grace was that a younger waitress took the time to explain to my 9yo son how they keep track of the orders, tables, bills etc as she heard him asking us - Nicely done. Apart from that, the food is decent enough, prices don't come as a shock, good location, car park over-subscribed however, I prefer to walk after parking a little further away.

This place was actually recommended. The amount of food was embarrassing. Ive never seen such a small amount of food on a plate in my life. The amount of salt and pepper chips was the amount ive seen left over on a plate and they were frozen fries. Just shocking for a rearaurant.4 of us actually came away hungry. I usually go into Manchester China Town and trust me when I say I will be going back there and never back to Manchester 8. Big let down and would never recommend. Ive had better takeaways.

We visited recently as a party of 5 having never been before. On arrival the place looked very nice and the atmosphere was great. The menu was a bit less descriptive than I would have liked but I appreciate that there was probably too many dishes for lots of detail on each. Food was fast to come out even though it was quite busy. The chicken in the sweet and sour chicken was a tiny bit chewy but otherwise delicious. Portion size was ok. Staff also seemed a bit tired but on the whole it was a good experience, thanks!

Been here twice now. Once we had the Sunday set menu, which is great value and the food is really good with a great selection. The second visit we chose off the menu, whilst it was a little pricy, the food is really good and the environment is lovely so it is worth it. Will visit again.

A beautiful building and nice staff made for what should have been a fabulous experience. The place was packed so clearly the restaurant is doing something right. I was grateful to get a last minute table for two and we ordered cocktails as soon as we got there. I order Kung Bo/Po chicken and my partner ordered a vegetable chow mein. We had dim sum for starters and I have to say , they were fantastic. The main course arrived pretty quickly. My dish had a sweet and sour sauce with some chilli in it and the veg chow mein was totally tasteless. The familiar red plastic sauce on mine was disappointing and not like any Kung Po dish I’d ever had before - like chippy sauce The chow mein was so bland , even the tinned button mushroom sauce couldn’t save it. I told the maitre d (when he asked) that the dish was really poor. He thanked me for my feedback and that was that. Other people I know rave about the place but they’ve perhaps never eaten at the Rice Bowl in Manchester.

I came here just after it opened and thought it was fantastic. Came back two weeks ago and thought the food was bland and tasteless.

Came here last night hadn't booked in advance. Staff were welcoming and friendly providing excellent service. Had chicken in satay sauce, and beef with mushrooms food was tasty and large portions. Will be returning

Please don’t bother with this place the food was worse than our local takeaway a lot worse tbh the potions was small for the price the service was poor waiting to order drinks for over 10 minutes. The starter was cold. Honestly ruined our anniversary night out. The place looks nice and that’s the best thing about it. It’s a poor takeaway that’s dressed up to look nice. If you want a good Chinese restaurant go to little Yang sing in Manchester on another level to this place.

The fillet steak Cantonese was amazing ! Excellent quality food , very friendly excellent service from staff , lovely atmosphere . It was my first visit but I will definately be going back ! 10/10

Booked for New Years Eve with 4 friends so it was a premium price and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Starters was ok but the platter was cold and very disappointing. My main course of sweet and sour chicken was half cooked, the chicken was red in the middle, and the accompanying soft noodles were cold. Away from the food there was a DJ who played music that could barely be heard and never spoke, they might as well have played a CD with background music to keep the cost down. We booked for 8.15pm, we were out of there along with many others by 10pm as the place was emptying fast. Needless to say I will not be going again and will certainly not be recommending to anybody else.

It was very quiet when we had a Chinese Sunday lunch, I expect the atmosphere would improve on a busier time. However, the quality of the food and service were brilliant and made it a fantastic birthday experience.

A Chinese is a Chinese but this place is a luxury Chinese

I visited here with my partner on Wednesday night. The restaurant was busy for a Wednesday and there was a nice atmosphere. We didn’t have a reservation but the helpful waitress managed to find us a table. Service was excellent - we didn’t have to wait long for drinks or food orders to be taken, and the food came very promptly. Everything we had was delicious - we shared the deep fried platter to start - the steak rolls and sauce were particularly good! I then had the fillet steak in garlic and chilli sauce and my partner had the crispy beef, along with egg fried rice and salt and pepper chips. Again, both dishes were delicious. I also thought the overall price was very reasonable. We will definetely be back again soon.

A very busy Saturday evening, but we had a reservation. It took a little while to be served drinks and get a menu, but no complaints about the rest of the service. We had a mix of starters - giant prawns, chicken satay, deep fried squid and fried chicken salt and pepper. All very tasty. Crispy duck for mains was excellent!! Really a good portion to share. We overfilled ourselves with lemon chicken and some vegetables. The best Chinese we've had for a long time.

Table booked for 8pm but not ready when we arrived. Sat down at 8.15, didn’t take our order till 8.45. It was a v busy evening and only 3 staff on. Although they tried their best the service was very slow. Had chicken and sweetcorn soup to start although it was all sweetcorn and no chicken. The main courses were, to be fair, very average quality and small portions. The spare ribs were actually awful. Overpriced, mediocre food and slow service. Will definitely not go back.

First time here and what a place! The food and atmosphere was great and the level of service just topped it off. Really friendly and welcoming place.

The food was delicious, but when we wanted to order dessert we were told we couldn't have fritters!! So we ordered profiterolls mine were fine but one of our friends were frozen and we weren't offered to have them taken off the bill.

Had the set menu on a Sunday night. Food very nice, portions not huge but very tasty. Issues were...initial service very good but became less attentive the more the restaurant emptied! Had to ask for the dessert menu, the ladies wanted banana fritter (9.45pm) told the kitchen is now closed so only cold deserts (what??). One person's profiteroles were frozen, as in still frozen and solid (inedible)! May return but definitely no desserts.

Nice decor, good service, and decent food, but I don’t see why I should be forced to pay an extra 10% on top whether I like it or not. Asked the waitress if we could remove the service charge and pay a tip separately, and she simply refused. Well you may have got an extra few quid from us tonight, but you won’t be getting any business from us in the future. Won’t be back.

Possibly the best Chinese restaurant we have been to, and we have tried a few! Food was exceptional, the hot and sour soup is exactly that. For the main course we shared Szechuan chicken and sea bass with ginger and spring onion, again both were excellent and well seasoned. The chef obviously has a magic touch with the deep fryer, spring rolls and banana fritters were cooked to perfection, not in the slightest greasy and the batter was as light as a feather. Every member of staff treated us like royalty, offering advice and excellent service. We will return soon

Nice dining space with friendly, attentive staff. Food is nice, service a little slow but portions are TINY. We have only ever ordered rice between two of us wherever we have eaten (in spite of my partner having a big appetite) but here you definitely need two rice and possibly something extra besides. Would definitely eat here again but would order more now we know what the potions are like,

We were celebrating two family birthdays and the decor, Chinese food plus service was TOP NOTCH. A great place to chill, relax and fine great food. The Sunday £16.50 3 course deal will definitely prove a great taster to the restaurant. We will definitely be visiting again. Great credit to proprietor Haf Haris plus staff like Tommy and Wendy. Keep it UP ALL.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants outside the City's China Town. All staff are very polite and attentive. The food is excellent, and the surroundings are plush yet comfortable.

Wonderful first experience! Great atmosphere with incredibly friendly staff, very happy with the service! The food was absolutely delicious and the cocktails were better than expected! I highly reccomend the duck in plum sauce and the mojitos! We will definitely be coming back! 10/10

We came here as a party of 4 for my Nieces birthday, firstly the place looks amazing and is really clean, cosy atmosphere. Young girl who was working was very attentive and friendly. After 20 minutes we had to ask if someone was taking our order one of the men (not Steve) took our orders. My daughter was served the wrong dish but was quickly corrected with no problem. The 3 of us had the same dish beef chow mien for me other 2 chicken chow mien. Well I can say it didn’t stay down for the rest of the night 🤢 I messaged the girls who also confirmed they too had been up all night. Unfortunately I wouldn’t return or recommend, hopefully this was an isolated incident. My Sister has been before and enjoyed it. Prices are reasonable too. Portions are good sizes.

Just went for their Sunday lunch Menu. Got there at 1pm and there's only a couple of other tables with diners. The place looks very nice and it's clean, service was attentive as others have said. However, the actual food was extremely average. I found the soup very bland. Nothing really wrong with main course, just nothing that amazing in taste. Ie - Had nicer from various takeouts from the other local Chinese takeaways. In summary, for the £17 Sunday lunch menu, nice restaurant and service but didn't leave feeling I had a great lunch there.

Have dined here twice recently and the food and service is excellent, Steve and George in particular are true professionals and couldn’t do enough for us. The menu has some brilliant options with lots of choices for everyones taste, particularly enjoyed the XO sauce dishes and great seafood choices. Inside has been refurbished tastefully from an old bank to a high standard which creates a nice layout and atmosphere, would definitely recommend. Well done, you all do a fantastic job. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First visit here, the place is spotless and deco and furniture throughout was top class. We were Warmly welcomed by the staff. Food was amazing, ordered starters-salt&pepper diced crispy chicken, duck spring rolls and dim sum. Mains were fillet steak in black bean sauce and a sweet and sour chicken. Absolutely tasty all of it. The best I’ve tasted so far! Finished with a cocktail and a drink each. Bill was around £93. Definitely would recommend this place for a splash out

Went here for a meal with the other half and her mum as it wasn't too far from her mums place. We parked the car up next to the restaurant and were impressed with the look of a grandeur building. Unfortunately the service and food certainly didn't match the impressive building. The three mains all turned up at different times 15 mins apart and one of them was stone cold when it arrived. When we asked for it to be warmed up the staff were visibly annoyed. Two weeks later we get a parking charge for parking on the road next to the restaurant, which apparently is a private road - owned by the restaurant. When I went to the restaurant to say we were eating at the restaurant and not just parking there for the metrolink station or using any other shop nearby they were not interested at all, said it was nothing to do with them - even though they own the road - and can't do anything about it. This, I know is codswallop. Even if the parking is monitored by a third party the owners can ask the third party to rescind the invoice. I guess the restaurant gets a chunk of the invoice. Make the most of it - you won't be getting a penny out of any of us again!

Foods always great, we've eaten here afew times and my daughters who are 8, 12 & 16 all find something they like as do me and my partner. Lovely decour and ambience, This night, the restaurant overall was relatively quiet, but that didn't affect our experience, probably our favourite place to eat in Whitefield.

Excellent service and made very welcome even though we hadn't booked. Really nice snacks, wine menu, starters and main. Something for all tastes as the Sezchuan Chicken had a right kick whilst the prawns were sublime in a sweet and sour sauce. The General Manager was visible, professional and visited every table. Well worth a visit and they carry out too.

Family of 16 having a xmas get together. We had a really bad experience. Service was very slow, staff were arrogant, with the exception of George. Food not arrived that was ordered butCharged for . Will NOT be going back again. Spoilt our once a year get together. Thank you for nothing. Also deposit paid and not taken off bill. A bit of a pigs breakfast really. Also too much attention paid on takeaways instead of concentrating on customers in restaurant resulting in us still eating starters an hour and half after sitting down. BAD, BAD, BAD 👎 IT Wasn't even that busy in the restaurant.

I do not leave reviews very often but I have to for this one. We came for a Christmas Eve meal in a beautiful setting. From the food all the way down to the service, they go above and beyond to make you have the best experience. Food is bursting with flavour and filling. Had some of the best service I’ve ever experienced here, staff are kind, friendly and fantastic with the children. I cannot fault anything with this restaurant at all. Thanks for a lovely evening. We will definitely be back soon!

En fin de compte pour bien manger en UK, il faut manger chinois. Je plaisante (quoi que...) le décor est sympa, feutré et amical. Le service est au top, ils sont tous aux petits soins, et enfin les plats qui sont très bons. Les prix sont corrects (à part le prix des vins, mais je suis français) Globalement excellente expérience...

Around 40 of us booked three tables for a birthday party 🎉 it was packed when we arrived but on time our tables became available service was excellent the food was lovely and we all had a wonderful night.

I went to 8 Manchester with my husband and sons. We have been many times and all our meals were delicious as usual. We had the sharing platter for 3 and one lot of duck spring rolls and they were also delicious. If you enjoy Chinese food I would highly recommend the restaurant. The staff are very nice and the service is excellent. If you want to go by tram it stops in Whitefield close to 8 Manchester.

Great food good service a really good night

Walked in without a reservation and were given notice of an hour for the table which was appreciated, food was quick as we only had an hour but it was still lovely, Highly recommend the share platter to start, an experience to share with the table

My experience was far from enjoyable and completely inedible! All three dishes I ordered, unfortunately were terribly made. Duck was way too dry and tasteless, seafood soup tasted like water with apparently unfrozen mini prawns(event takeaways do better!) Mushroom omlet was oversaulted, couldn't eat even a bite. Cappuccino was decent. Never again

Amazing food and service at 8! A good range of food on the menu, including excellent vegetarian Tofu options 🌱👍🏻 The restaurant is modern, clean and well presented. The staff were extremely helpful and professional. I would highly recommend visiting.

Over the last couple of years the standard of food and service has fallen to the point that we will no longer return. The last couple of visits this was very noticeable. On the last visit, my wife booked with a group of 6 friends. Called to confirm the booking and was told only cash was being accepted (lucky they checked). They were then seated at a table only just big enough, with no space for their drinks. There were larger, empty, tables available. After putting up with the ridiculous situation of balancing their drinks on nearby tables they left immediately after eating. At the same time, food quality has declined. Gone from being "expensive but worth it" to "not at all worth it". Such a shame.

You have to pay separate for rice with your mains that already cost around £13 just for the sauce. The food wasn't spectacular but was OK. We could have got 3 course meal for 2 people, a bottle of wine, cocktails, beers and liquor coffees at another restaurant nearby for less than it cost us for 3 courses for 2 people and a bottle of wine at this restaurant. The staff are friendly though! Will not be going again.
