Had my daughters 30th birthday here last night, food was really good and plentiful but most of all the staff are excellent and have the best customer service I’ve seen in a very long time, they engaged with us and had a laugh one of them pretended to push my daughters face in her cake which was hilarious, excellent food and excellent staff will definitely be back soon and definitely recommend to others

As soon as I stepped into this establishment I felt very welcomed & look after. All the food & drinks are of a high standard and the food was hot & had excellent balance of flavours. Jack the owner is very caring & has customer service excellence. Upstairs is next level & the karaoke rooms (have to book in advance ) are one of the best I seen. Highly recommend this place for all round entertainment experience! X

Found a little gem! From booking a table, to ordering food and wine, Fai was an amazing gentleman who has attention to detail, a sense of humour and really fun! The food was the best Chinese food I’ve tasted in many years. Will definitely go back!

Group of 6 for a birthday meal whilst here for a weekend away. Matched our favourite Chinese at home. Absolutely delicious and would highly recommend if you’re near Coventry. Quick efficient service. Polite and accommodating waiters.

I’m a proper fat lad fresh and let me tell you proper live and real this Chinese is the business. Proper. Bosh. Live fresh real. Food comes out red hot staff are friendly sound geezers. Great menu. Love that the food is red hot and fresh to eat.

Booked a Karaoke room to celebrate my mums 80th so there was family there from age 5 to 80 and we all had an absolutely fantastic time. We opted for the buffet with the room at £25pp and the food was amazing, a mix of starters and mains. For me those tempura prawns were to die for :) The staff were also incredible and made sure everyone was happy and brought our drinks right to our room. I can't wait to do it all again. My nieces are going to be taking there friends there too.

It’s been a couple of months since last coming here but the staff acted like it was last week. Ask the staff are cheerful and the food excellent again. Our go to before The Empire!

Came in here on a Fridays night before going to a concert at The Empire. No problem getting a table and the staff were very friendly and happy to get interact. The food was incredible , my girlfriend said the best Chinese food she has tasted for a while. Have been here a few times in the past and definitely would recommend.

We attended China Red Karaoke bar for a friends surprise birthday celebration. We could not fault the place and had the best time! The food was delicious, fresh and flavoursome, the service was outstanding and our comfort and happiness was their priority. Jack and his staff had even decorated the room with banners and helium balloons to give the room the personal touch. The set menu was run past us first and Jack was happy to amend and adjust the menu to meet dietary needs and preferences. Thank you China Red, we had an amazing time and highly recommended this little gem!

Visited here with and I can not believe that this is not a top star restaurant. The food was exceptional and the service was the beat I have received in a long while.

Attended my daughter's 40th birthday celebration in the function/karaoke room upstairs. Couldn't have chosen a better venue for the small-ish gathering (around 20 people). They decorated the room with balloons and banners and provided an excellent service throughout the evening - nothing was too much...

Worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant ever. Shredded duck was green!! Over fried food covered in salt and sugar. Paid for the wine but left that as well.

Awful service from when we walked in. We requested for a table away from the entrance as it was cold and our grandma was with us. We were told rudely by the manager if we wanted a nice table we should have booked. The staff told us to "Just Sit down!" We said no, we would like to sit further in, he told us again to "sit down" like we were animals, because his excuse was he didn't want to clean the dirty table for us! I asked the manager why are you guys talking to us so rudely? His answer was: No we're not! I said yes you are, which is why we're going to walk out! No apologies nothing! Poor attitude, staff all needs training or is that the piss poor standard we should expect to be treated at your restaurant?! Disgusting!!!

Food was not great drink were over priced and was made to feel I was an inconvenience to them because it was quiet in there Salt pepper food is nothing like it is in any other Chinese - be careful!!!

The bar downstairs was serving pints from the tap. As members of a large party we weren't allowed access this facility, and were made to buy expensive drinks upstairs served in very small bottles. The place itself is nice. We were served what looked like iceland style chicken pieces, and they were covered in salt. The Karaoke was mostly in Chinese, very few songs in English to choose from, and bar staff were rude and abrasive throughout the evening. It was a good job the people we were with in the party were great people, because these guys wanted us to spend as much as possible, and leave as quickly a possible. I didn't feel valued as a customer!

When visiting china red we were directed up 3 floors to use a private booth for our party of 17 people. For 20pound per person plus expensive drink prices on top it was rather expensive for the 3.5 hour visit we had. The food was delivered in buffet style and large plates on table of what can only be described as cheap 'chicken' pieces smothered in salt and batter. All the food was immenseley high in salt, mostly visible with breadcrumbs or batter dishes as the salt level was like sugar to doughnuts from a vendor at a fair. It was immensely intense salting which we all refrained from eating as it was obvious they wanted us to drink more and more. The karaoke itself was pretty dyer with only your very old graphics and classic kareoke songs on there. The main mic stand was broken on the staging and the screen was in chinese and was rather confusing to operate for english guests. The room was booked for 10pm finish. As we were wrapping up at 950 the men were cleaning the room early just as they had been doing to take the plates away throughout the night. They took drinks that werent finished when tidying and generally were very stingey on the measures in the 2 for 12 pound cocktails...and even made you walk down a floor to the bar everytime you wanted a drink and then you walked back to the booth room empty handed whilst they made you a cocktail out of site! Overall i will not be going back as the food was very average, drinks were bland and a rip off and customer service was cold and rude at the end of the night to the whole of our group.The best thing was the heated smoking area but the floor plan of the building is a UV lighted nightmare. Dissapointing.

After reading the recent reviews I was unsure what to expect here but we wanted a restaurant where we could pick at different foods and although this is a served at table place we could share dishes easily. People have complained about the rudeness of the staff and I can see where some people may get that impression. The gentleman serving us has a fairly strong accent that made him sound abrupt. He was in fact extremely nice and funny, yes he told us "we can't have curry without chips or rice" but in a funny way and with his accent he had us in tears. No we weren't laughing at him, we were laughing with him. He was great and we really enjoyed the service he gave us. I'm sure that if some of the people that have complained about him weren't so quick to assume they'd have seen he was really a funny guy.The food was lovely and came in reasonable portions, enough to share a bit but not so much you couldn't try other dishes too. Overall, would I eat there again? Yes I would and I'd look forward to it too.

Came here to eat for dinner kids were starving it’s an eat all u want Chinese however it’s not aBuffet its order cook from fresh eat all u want which I find much better Adult prices £17.90 and children under 140cm (I think) is £7.90 food was lovely not too big portions just right bit gutted didn’t do sea weed but never mind service very friendly and helpful The only thing I didn’t like was the chicken satay however I’m used to the peanut sauce this was more of a runny sauce The duck was lovely with pancakes that I will recommend and the salt and pepperRibs r lovely as well Kids loved the spring rolls again not to fat or too many so all in all I’d come again without a doubt

I booked a table for a work meal at China Red for my Birthday.On arrival the owner before saying hello said that he has been emailing me all day about my booking and considering I never gave my email I found very strange. Once the whole party had arrived the owner came to the table to tell us that we had to pay 10% service charge so our total would be £18.60 each and if we wanted to pay separately we had to go to the bar to order drinks because they would not split the bill. Three members of our party where unable to attended so there was nine of us in total, when we said we where ready to order the manager said we did not need a big table and went on to a rant. I told the manager I thought he was being extremely rude to which he went on to an even bigger rant walking towards me shouting "You have woken up on the wrong side of the bed" and "Tell me how i am being rude." The manager told our table we could stay or go he was not bothered so we left.The manager of China Red needs to get some customer service training.

Walked into the restaurant and rather than being greeted the owner had moaned at us saying he had been trying to call and email all day. No email address was even given and no missed calls on phone. Sat down and demanded we all pay a service charge. Then told us we had to go to the bar to order our drinks. Went to the bar whilst serving me he was talking to staff (rude). Explained we were ready to order. He then started to complain there were only 9 of us not 13. I said that this was a last minute thing and we had only just found out they weren't coming. My friend then said that he needed to use some manners as he was very rude. The owner then started to get very abrupt and aggressive. Shouting "you got out of wrong side of bed". I explained that this was not an appropriate way to speak to his customers. He started getting closer and closer to my friend repeating the same thing over and over again. We all stood up and walked out. Another friend started apologising (for his own behaviour- shes just like that) and he started getting abrupt and aggressive with her! Never had such rude customer service from anywhere. Will not be setting foot in this place ever again. I would advise everyone else not to go their either! There was also only two people in that restaurant so he had no reason to moan at 4 people not being there! Absolute disgrace- need to get yourself on a customer service training COURSE

Although in the outside doesn't look inviting, is a pleasure to eat here. Awesome staff, incredible food, fair prices (£17 all you can eat). I recommend the salt and chili Tiger prawns!

I hadn’t been here before but my grand-daughter said she wanted to go for her birthday. We were very impressed with the food and the staff were attentive but not in your face. The main guy suggested they bring out a variety of starters which were great but I think after several helpings some of our party hadn’t left room for the mains. Very enjoyable evening. We will definitely be back.

Went with friends last night for the all you can eat Buffett, but if you expect a long line of plate clutching diners loading up plates from huge vats of food you will be pleasantly surprised. Each dish is ordered separately and you can just keep ordering as much as you like..the duck pancakes are complimentary and the prawn crackers are the best I’ve ever tasted.

Really tasty food from the all-you-can-eat menu, very generous helpings and superbly tasty food, made all the better by the friendly and helpful staff and the manager who took my allergies incredibly seriously, checking each individual item with the chefs (see photo) This cosy restaurant serves as a positive and stark contrast to the other Chinese restaurants in the area, very impressed!

Booked in advance for a party of nine. The table service was awful. It took forever for the food to arrive, and then there was a dish missing. Manager came over to argue that we had mis-ordered. Finally got a waiter to take our main course order, half way through the main course the promised 'pulled duck' arrived when it should have been at the beginning of the meal. Absolutely chaotic service. Part way through it looked like food from a takeaway was arriving through the front door. We will not be going back.

This was my fourth visit in the last 3 months. Normally the complementary duck is delicious but on this occasion what little there was, was far from edible. This was followed by King Prawn in Peking sauce. The taste was fine albeit it contained exactly 6 prawns, considerable less than in previous visits.

I visited this restaurant for an evening meal. It offers 'all you can eat' buffet, ordered to table for £16. Few areas that I feel need addressing:

Tried this for the first time in a while and won’t be back any time soon - the duck is now one portion per table and it’s less than two wraps each - upon asking for more was shouted at and the menu thrust in my face that it was one complimentary portion. They need to be careful with that - if it’s complimentary then there’s nothing to stop you going in and having the duck and walking out! as it’s complimentary!

Met up with a couple we met in China this seemed quite fitting.

This is an all you can eat restaurant, but instead of a buffet, you order from the menu. The staff are friendly and will advise the best things to eat. The starters alone were great with the usual favourites of prawn toast, spring rolls, ribs. I ate in a large party and we also had various soups. The main course selection is also excellent with something for everyone. I played safe with sweet and sour chicken, but was not disappointed. Decor wise the place is as you would expect it. It's not the chicest place you could ever visit, but if you are going for the food you won't be disappointed.

I rarely go to town, so I am not aware of what's where. I was in the mood for Chinese food and found this restaurant listed. It has a good 1960's retro look to the décor. The service was excellent & efficient. The menu was an all you can eat buffet but all cooked fresh to order. it had a takeaway style of dishes, but that is perfect for the British tastes. Will definitely be going back..

Al entrar en este restaurante nos dimos cuenta de que habíamos encontrado el lugar correcto porque la mayoría de los clientes eran chinos. Había un "todo lo que puedas comer" por 16 libras por cabeza, pero la diferencia es que pedir lo que desea en el menú y es recién cocinado. El personal era muy servicial y nos sugirió que no pedir demasiado a la vez, ya que las porciones son bastante grandes. Teníamos 4 platos diferentes de arranque y 3 platos principales con arroz y a pesar de tener grandes apetitos podía comer nada más. La comida era excelente y muy buena relación calidad-precio. Sin duda recomendaría este restaurante a todos los amantes de la comida china.

So this is an all you can eat but cooked to order restaurant for £16 a go. When I went although quiet there were a number of Chinese folk eating here. Service was friendly by comparison to other chinese restaurants I have used. The all you can eat menu is limited but adequate. You order each course which is then brought to your table. The issue with the food is the amount of salt in all the dishes it really is overpowering and totally unnecessary. Be sure to get plenty of tap water if you eat here! Shame really as the food could

Last time we went the service was Poor. We went back all the food we had was Very good and the service was much better I would recommend

It seemed like a good deal . . . an eat-as-much-as-you-like Chinese buffet where every dish was individually cooked, rather than kept hot under lights for hours. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered a mushroom starter and a King Prawn Satay, but after a few minutes I was told the mushroom dish was not available. I ordered vegetable spring rolls as a replacement, but they served the satay before my starter. While the serving was plentiful, it was clear the satay sauce had never seen a peanut and tasted like it was out of a packet. When the spring rolls came they didn’t seem fresh and the “vegetables” were like a paste. I tried for mixed veg in a ginger and spring onion sauce, but it arrived Luke warm and tasteless. I gave up at that point. I won’t be returning to this restaurant.

I love China Red, as the title suggests i have visited it many times over the years and always leave satisfied.

Great food! Lovely buffet, however you used to be able to have as many duck pancakes as you wanted and it is sad that this has changed. You can order as much as you like, they just ask that you finish what you order - which is fair. There seems to be another menu in Chinese, that seemed to have much better food on it - next time we will attempt to order from this.

Can not fault the food but the service was awful from start to finish, When we walked in the man behind the bar was shouting at a waitress. We order our starters which took 40 minutes to come out which was not due to them being busy there was only 3 other tables and 4 staff. 3 times we asked for our food , if the staff and kitchen was more organised then I would of give 5 stars as the food was excellent

Booked a table a week in advance for four people. We arrived right on time and the owner (who i had never met before) greeted me by name. We all felt welcome and at ease from the first moment. We were seated at a beautifully prepared table and quickly served drinks. The food buffet was the perfect choice and meant that we could all have what we fancied as well as trying a bit of each others! Everything we ordered was served quickly and was prepared to a very high standard and piping hot. I look forward to visiting again next time i am in Coventry. Staying about 20 minutes outside Coventry, we ventured south to check out COSMO, but the receptionist was sooo rude there we walked out, like beyond rude! I am so glad that they didn't have any space as we found China Red, its a bit tucked...

Qué puedo decir, aparte de esta es la joya de la corona. Qué pequeño lugar fantástico. La decoración es mínima, pero no dejes que eso te desanime. Elegimos el buffet, todo lo que pueda comer. Y mi bondad. El principal hombre, sólo puedo asumir que es el gerente, estaba prácticamente empujar la comida hacia nosotros. Qué hombre tan encantador. Siempre dispuestos a compartir una broma, especialmente en el cliente que pidió popadoms. Había una pareja de jóvenes chinos en la esquina, uno con una guitarra, una con un violín. Y qué voz. Un toque encantador. La comida, qué puedo decir. Fabuloso. Delicioso. caliente y abundante. Si alguna vez estás en coventry y pase este lugar, pop. No le decepcionará.

Sadly our recent meal here was not good at all. We have been here several times and always had a good time and meal. Two friends were visiting and we decided China Red would be a nice place to take them for dinner. The guy in charge (had some kind of top knot) was very pushy from the moment we were seated. The food was not up to usual standards and I got the impression they just wanted to get us fed and get us out as it was a very quiet Sunday evening. One of us was drinking draught cider and this guy asked if he wanted another as he was half way through his pint, he said not at the moment and the guy went away. After about 20minutes he asked for another pint to be quite rudely told “I asked you if you wanted another drink and you said no, the lines are now being cleaned so there’s no draught”. He did not say there would be no more draught served when he asked so we had no idea what he was doing.

Saying the food is average is not doing China Red a disservice. It was not excellent but was very good.

I have been coming here off and on for about four years and yesterday was the worst visit yet - probably my last. The food has always been reasonable but never outstanding, but yesterday's serving was very mixed - some strange sauce on the chicken skewers that either slid off in lumps or congealed on the meat, far too many onions on the prawns, and over battered chicken pieces, in addition to tasteless spring rolls. The duck pancakes were fine. What really spoiled the whole lunch was the manager who needless upset one of my four year old twins who was playing harmlessly with his chopsticks, and then tried to over-compensate by repeatedly and intrusively appearing and talking very loudly, even insisting we look at photos on his phone of his grandson. Concentrate on improving the cooking and the service, and leave the child care to the parents!

We were actually the second diners at lunchtime so were served very quickly; the manager was very friendly and took our order, the drinks were brought quickly and the food soon afterwards.

This is an all you can eat a la carte Chinese restaurant in the city center of Coventry. The atmosphere is nice and the food tasty. The portions are relatively small so make sure you order enough food. Their duck was one of the best ducks I ever had. Sweet and sour pork was nice as well. It is also worth noting that someone who is vegetarian can enjoy nice dishes at this place.

Great family meal out at China Red. All you can eat buffet , each dish cooked to order. Special dishes for vegetarians catered for. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Value for money. Recommend to anyone.

An overnight stop to watch the rugby at Wasps led us to this hidden gem of a restaurant tucked away in the corner of a shopping precinct. It was late on a Saturday night and on offer was an all that you can eat buffet fixed at just over £14 per head. They were busy with a birthday party booking and a number of couples, a number of which were Chinese .A lively and demanding atmosphere didn't stop the owner coming over for a chat as we hadn't been in before. He was very friendly as were his staff who delivered a very efficient and friendly service. Small detail matters to me; attentive staff, clean and unimposing surroundings as well as freshly prepared food. This venue ticked all the boxes for me and I would highly recommend it. Nothing 'flashy' just excellent food in excellent surroundings and at a very reasonable price.

Well cooked food with good quality materials! Nice place with romantic music. Though first time here, the Spicy chuan Chicken amazed me a lot, very authentic Chinese food. Cantonese Dim sum are good as well!

The concept is good - all you can eat but ordered fresh so nothing sits under heaters for 3 hours but is prepared in the kitchens from scratch. The reality is a bit of a car crash. The food is fine, nothing exceptional, but decent enough. The service though is appalling; simple orders like boiled rice take 30 mins to come, more complex dishes take three quarters of an hour or just don't appear (despite several chasers).The waiters don't really know what's going on - dishes you order get sent to the wrong table and so you have to pass them on yourselves. Ordering a beer takes 25 minutes of your life (you need to go to the bar). The manager has been to the Fawlty Towers school of training and if something is wrong then it's your fault!Best to avoid even though the food is half decent (starters more so than mains)

Last Sunday my partner and I visited Coventry and as we were in the mood for a Chinese we stopped at the China Red restaurant.Very bad decision.The food was horrible. We could barely taste it. The waiter did not even care. I have never seen so bad food and so bad service in my life.I would have scored them with 0 if i could.

Rude, food was not fit for a dog, service awful, manager was a disgrace, value for money was a disgrace, did they care? NO!!!!!!!! OVERALL ALL YUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

So, where do I start? We arrived to sit down to a really wobbly table and ordered drinks. Turns out the restaurant also sees itself as Coventry's top venue for mediocre singers and insists on them continuously singing. We, unfortunately, were sat directly under a speaker which meant we could only hear the singers and not each other. We ordered our first round of food - soup (spring rolls for one person that didn't fancy soup) and a plate of duck. The soup came out and the hot and sour soup was like spicy bisto - worst hot and sour soup I have tried. The soups came out together but the spring rolls were not there. About 10 minutes later we saw them being taken to the wrong table. The duck then arrived which was a small portion for 5 people and was a bit soggy and bland. As we could not hear each other we eventually had to ask for them to turn the speakers down. When we asked it went down for about 30 seconds and then right back up. We, over our time there, asked for this 4 times. By the fourth time of asking without any luck we had been there for an hour and a half and had only had the soup and duck (both ordered at the same time) and had not been asked for our next order. At this point we decided enough was enough, the evening was not enjoyable and we were going to leave. We went to the bar, explained the issues and that we wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. The manager started getting aggressive, shouting that we had eaten food so we said that we would pay for what we had eaten. However, when he tried to charge full price per person we said we would not pay that as we had only had soup and the "complimentary" duck (as it says on the menu). He started getting angrier and angrier and when we tried to speak to him about issues we had had he said he did not want to listen to us and repeatedly shouted "no" over whatever we tried to say. Eventually his tantrum peaked when he clearly realised the tills could not just charge for soup and he started shouting at us to get out. I have never witnessed anything quite like it. Awful experience and despite trying to pay and give feedback the manager was aggressive and rude. No one should ever go here and if the manager was not the owner as well I recommend they get rid of this man immediately as it felt like an episode of Ramsey's kitchen nightmares.

Absolutely awful, which is a shame as our last visit a year ago, it was pretty good and I always preferred it to other local chinese resaurants. 4 of us went and although the price is £15 per head, the food quality and quantity is disgraceful. We decided to share starters and we ordered mini spring rolls and chicken satay sticks. 3 of each came out and the spring rolls were almost empty of filling.The yuk sun was barely recognisable as yuk sun and small chunks of ripped lettuce leaves instead of iceberg cups. The final straw was when we ordered crispy Won ton. 5 pieces came out and were completely void of filling. We mentioned it to the manager who explained that, if they put any filling in, they wouldn't make a profit....5 pieces of greasy fried Won ton paper. £60 for food for 4. Shocking. We're affraid we'll never go again.

The staff welcomed us with smiles. The restaurant was very busy. You has to go to the bar to order a drink. They did not accept card payments for less than 10£.The drinks arrived after at least 20 minutes. The waiters were struggling to cope with drinks;they were yelling at each other quiet often. The food was quiet poor, no much taste! Prawns tasted water, same for most of the food! Not that cheap for that food. I will never go back!

We visited mid afternoon on Saturday and the attentive service began at the door. The staff were very welcoming and helpful towards us, especially my friend who is in a wheelchair. We chose the all you can eat buffet. So nice to have the food that you want freshly cooked and not messed about with by others putting stuff back. We thoroughly enjoyed the starters and mains on offer and even cooked a dish that was not on the menu for my friend. Staff were eager to please and the food delicious.This was my first visit but definitely won't be my last.

We chose the buffet dinner menu and everything is cooked to order.The food and staff were excellent and at long last we have a great Chinese restaurant in Coventry
