China Red in Wyre

We visited China Red last night to celebrate my sister's 60th birthday. The staff were extremely courteous and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of it! It is excellent value for money at a time when so many places give less for more! We had a lovely time thank you China Red and please carry on as you are! Best wishes Helen

Great menu especially for my veggie partner...great food and friendly staff

Family meal - 4 people - sons birthday, spoiled by £150 card payment sharp practice. After the meal I paid the £150 (Inc tip) bill by debit card, the pop up on my phone saying payment had gone through. Restaurant said payment hadn’t gone through and produced a “void” payment receipt. Not wishing to make a fuss at special occasion I reluctantly ran card through second time. Two payments of £150 now in my account pending and next day both showing as paid! £150 down, I visited restaurant early next evening and was stonewalled- first member of staff poor English, second member of staff referred to by first as manager supposedly phoned the actual manager who was not on site but “stuck in traffic” but still able to allegedly say they’d only received one payment of £150. Left my phone number for manager to phone me, no call received so progressed double payment via my bank! Beware of paying here by card. Food was average, all ruined by paying twice!

Ordered a delivery from here, took over an hour and half to arrive and never had Chinese food so bland in my life! Salt and chilli chips, no chilli in sight, bland and plain. Crispy shredded chilli beef, again no chilli or spicy. Mixed meat chow mien has prawns in… that seafood not meat, thank god I don’t have a seafood allergy!

First time customer here,just want to say fantastic food delivered to us last night ,it was all amazing, delivered within 40mins at a peak time on a Friday night which I thought was very good, most takeaways take up to a hour and half on busy nites.Also very generous with freebies if you spend over certain amount. Order over £30 free chicken wings (big portion) and Prawn crackers this is fantastic, especially when some chinese takeaways no longer give prawn crackers free anymore for any amount you might spend,because they say oil to fry them in is too expensive and the gas to cook them is too expensive so no longer free,keep up the fantastic work chefs your doing a great job.

came for for tea tonight we all had the Chinese banquet hot and sour soup one had chicken noodle soup both lovely then we had the mixed starters all fresh hot lovely then duck and pancakes always pur fave dish then mains rice noodles garlic chicken beautiful one had beef black pepper very nice can't wait to go back

After finding a long hair in my bowl of prawn crackers and explaining this to the waitress, with the comment, really and then just walked away. The best was the final course when they they did not bring any rice to go with the main course, when advised to the English waiter he showed no compassion and just pulled a face of get on with it, when we finally caught some attention to obtain some rice we were told they were still cooking it !!!! By the time the rice arrived our main meals were cold. Shame as the food was good just need new waiters !!!!

We visited China Red for a meal with friends. The restaurant is well decorated with lots of good touches like the koi pool and spacious dining area. There are lots of food options available on the menu and also a really good value for money set menu option for sharing. I had the crispy chilli chicken with egg fried rice, and it was really tasty and perfectly cooked. Often with crispy chicken dishes, other chefs can go overboard with the oil and sauces, and it becomes a big soggy and chewy but not at China red it was just right.

Completely different to how it used to be 10 years ago (when I last went). There was no rushing you from your table, the food wasn't cheap, brightly coloured flavourless. Very pleasantly surprised, food was really good and would definitely go back

Food and service was good but the five of us were the only customers on this Thursday evening therefore low atmosphere rating. In years gone by, this place was very popular and for whatever reason, it would appear to have lost favour: what a crying shame as there is nothing wrong with the food or service. 👍

Love coming here but this last time wasn't good food was still good just doesn't feel the same no table cloths it was very cold in there doudt I will be back its a shame as it was my favourite place

This is a fantastic takeaway and restaurant, always had great service from the staff, the food has always been cooked to a very high standard and they can seat a lot of people in their restaurant.

No way to treat new customers. Because Jade Gdn was shut for holidays we tentatively ordered a selection of meals at for take away and opted to collect instead of delivery. With us living in Singleton delivery here was unlikely anyway, or would have taken a very very long time to arrive. So I make the drive myself, which including parking and collecting on foot it is at best a 25min round trip. I paid and took the food home, only to find out the bag of food we were given was for a different order. A member of staff phoned up at the same time we realised and, to his credit, was very very apologetic. Now mistakes happen, I get theat, so I offered to return the food and collect my actual order in person, another 25min round trip thinking this would still be quicker than waiting for them to come here instead (which they should have done to be fair, and with hindsight I should have insisted on). When I eventually get back to China Red for the second time I'm presented with a bag which contains our food, and the same staff member tells me that I hadn't paid enough the first time around, and the price difference for the 1st bag of food against our actual bag of food was £13, so can I pay this before leaving !! Fair enough they made a mistake the first time, but then seeing as I made the gesture of personally coming back with it, from Singleton, I suggest we split the difference seeing as I had been so inconvenienced and none of this was my fault. He goes off to the kitchen to ask the Owners, coming back saying that they say "no" ! His message to me from the Owners was that the only option is to pay the full £13 or nothing. For me it's not the money issue here, £6.50 or £13 I couldn't care less, but the manner in which things played out that annoyed me. The Owners didn't come to apologise, just a blunt demand for more money from the very person that went out of their way to help them sort the original mistake out. We get Chinese food for the whole family at least 2x a month, though pretty much exclusively from Jade Garden. I just don't understand the mentality of a business that treats potential new customers this way. Are they not trying to win business away from their direct competition on Poulton ? On principle now we will never spend money with China Red again. If that's how you willingly treat your local customer base I think it only fair to share this experience with others. On top of all that, the food was honestly pretty poor. Not a patch on what we normally get from Jade Garden though it wouldn't matter if it had been the best food ever, I don't ever want to give them any more of my cash !

Always amazing food with great portion sizes. Wonderful, friendly staff and a great, relaxed atmosphere. One of our "go-to" places for a family meal.

This was always a solid Chinese banquette, I’ve eaten here many times over the years. After tonight I won’t eating here again. The quality has gone and the place has totally lost its vibe. Never again. Waste of money.

Its a long time since I have eaten inside at this restaurant (I have had many takeaways and always fab!) We went for my daughters Masters Graduation meal. We all had the all you can eat banquet and it didn't disappoint! It was fabulous service and fabulous food from start to finish! There was absolutely plenty of food, we were all full - all 19 of us! We even brought some home with us! The staff couldn't do enough for us, very accommodating! The management even gave us a couple.of bottles of bubbly on the house to toast my daughters success! Would recommend to anyone! Thank you ❤️

9 of us went for a meal here last night, 8 had the buffet option and one didnt. The food was amazing and every course was hot, fresh and tasty. Best sweet and sour that i have found on the flyd coast so far. The staff were friendly and even gave us the leftovers in boxes to take home Will definitely go back.

Friendly, efficient, attentive staff. Comfortable seating in a booth. All the food was delicious, hot and very well cooked. Chicken and sweetcorn soup, crispy duck with pancakes and all the trimmings. Beef with green peppers and black bean sauce, pork and chicken curries, sweet and sour mixed, noodles, chips, egg fried rice. Thanks to chefs and front of house staff for an enjoyable evening.

Been several times last year always very good and enjoyed their menu. First time this year, had banquet, soup OK, warm not hot, mixed started, so much grease on plate, chicken tough, duck spring onions not the best and pancakes only warm. Chicken sweet and sour tasteless and bland, sizzling beef not sizzling, no flavour or taste. Could not eat much as it was making us ill. takes a lot for me to complain we live in a strange world, kept saying everything was ok until main course then had to complain. Only just made it home before I had to dash to toilet, feeling unwell still. Gave discount and not sure now if we want to give it another chance. Fine all last year, something has changed, sauces and dishes bland, taste cheap quality food and poor quality sauces.

Visited this lovely restaurant for the first time with two friends. On arrival we were made very welcome by the friendly staff. The service was excellent and the food arrived quickly. When we go out for a meal we always give marks out of 10. Here are our marks! Friendliness of staff 10, Cleanliness of the restaurant 10, Speed of food arriving after we ordered 10, Quality of the food 10, Taste of the food 10, Temperature of the food 10, Value for money 10. We will certainly be returning to this superb restaurant and would highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed.

Food and staff were fantastic. The restaurant was just a bit quiet so the atmosphere was also. But we went for the food and as always thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Not very busy as it was early but food was good, reasonable and freeze prawn crackers!

Service was polite but slow. Food wasn't up to standard at all for the price. I ordered fillet steak and it was ok but I would guess rump steak at best, possibly even frying steak. Salt and pepper chips were rubbish. No seasoning on them except for onions. My partner had duck in plum sauce and it looked inedible. There was no veg in the dish and the sauce looked like dishwater. Wouldn't recommend

Not been in here for a few years attended for a birthday. Really disappointed. There were 40 of us and it was quite chaotic. Buffet menu has gone very expensive and the service was really slow taking 3 hours. Plates arrived warm but we're cold by the time the food arrived. Staff were very friendly and it may be better with smaller numbers. Food was OK at best.

Been a few times an had a lovely experience but sadly that was not the case….. under 10 were charged an adult price food were awful soup was warm! Food was dry tasteless we will never go back a waste of £145…

Ordered home delivery, food arrived cold so had to microwave to make edible, spare ribs dreadful quality, just dry and overcooked with no sauce, salt and pepper chips where just chips with 2 bits of semi raw onion on top, duck wasn't bad but clearly not cooked by a qualified chef. Never again. Avoid.

I love this place usually but tonight I had a delivered green curry and it was disgusting it was not in the least bit edible, straight in the bin it went, followed by me been put off them now.

We have been going to China Red for years our go to restaurant for all the family, birthdays, graduation party, engagements, the food is plentiful and delicious as always, would recommend to anyone, staff friendly as always, we do realise that prices have gone up but the buffet has gone up a great deal, less people in now and unfortunately we will not be going as often as we would like.

Friendly staff that indulged me with my daggy questions about the carp pool, etc. Ordered the wonton soup starter — the broth tasted as if MSG had been added. Duck pancakes duck meat was very dry but the quantity was generous so more than 2 could share. Our son ordered the Kung Pao chicken which wasn't spicy as expected, but was very sweet :-(

The Best China food I ever ate. Staff very friendly and efficiently. As you enter inside you can feel the atmosferę of China.

All the food was brilliant and good value for money, staff are friendly and helpful. Only down side is the dessert menu is small but our group was full and satisfied without a dessert.

We had booked a table for 4 to celebrate a friend's birthday and we know the food is always good here. As usual, the food was delicious and the service extremely good. It was completely spoiled for us, however, because of an extremely large party, which took uo the whole width of the restaurant, celbrating a 30th birthday. We couldn't hear each other to have a conversation, which is part of the experience of eating out and, to be honest, we couldn't wait to leave. Such a shame because, normally, this is a really good restaurant. Hope it was worth it, because it is unlikely we are going to repeat the experience.

We adnt been for a while but went last night It was always good but was better than ever The food came quickly lovely and hot well presented and the staff so friendly we will be going more often .A great night.

Rude, poor service, and food that was ok...

Heard some good things recently, having not been here for many years after moving away from the area in 2015. I'll get the positive out of the way first, service was good, the two women we came across were friendly, polite and helpful. We didn't have to wait too long for anything, including drinks, courses etc. The starters we had, all different, were tasty and fresh. But then the mains came, again all different. One of the three was nice - we all tried each others! But my Crispy shredded chili beef and my mum's Duck in Plum sauce were not that good at all I'm afraid! Plenty enough portion wise, but we both agreed we'd rather had half the size but twice as tasty!! Both bland, mum's duck was fatty as hell, and my 'beef' was so crispy and I'm sure they forgot to add the beef. This is my fave Chinese dish by the way, so I certainly am comparing it to others. This is my least favourite version by far I'm afraid. Oh and we were charged nearly £6 for 2 large Lime & Soda's - which you'd pay around £2 - £2.50 everywhere else. The visit was just ok. Definitely not wowed by the experience. And for £25 per head for 2 courses and only one small wine on a quiet Tuesday evening I'm afraid to say it'll probably be another 5-10yrs before I try the place again.

We ate here the night before we went on holiday two weeks ago. We had the set meal for two which is was great but way too much - soup, mixed hors d'ouevres and chicken and black beans and Chinese curry. Excellent service as well.

Perfect meal eight sitting for a family get together

Went on Friday for a family meal (my 30th) service and food was 10/10 It was rather quiet in there which was unusual, possibly since the menu change. We managed to get the banquet as we was a big group otherwise it's just a normal menu. I would come back but only when the banquet is available.

No change to the environment. Service was ok Food was poor. Ordered the sizzling prawn & sizzling steak, both were slimy & underseasoned. Fried rice was ok Mixed entre was ok. In all it was ok but nothing special. There are much nicer takeaways. Sadly this used to be our go to place. Won't be back

Was looking forward to this as I thought it had a good reputation. A busy evening which they couldn’t cope with. Cold plates, I had mushroom foo yung (mushroom omlette) a few of us had to ask for knives to cut our food up. My partners veg was Rock hard. £5 for 2 orange juices. Overall, not the quality laity and enjoyment I was expecting. Such a shame!!!

Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary last night, it was perfect, 8 of us. Staff were fab, informative when i asked about menus etc, allowed family and friends to decorate around the table. On the night the food was all delicious, we had chosen one of the menus, no-one was disappointed. If we are visiting family again, we will return Thanks❤️

The rest of the table were fairly happy with their food, but I opted for Mushroom Foo Yung, which was watery and certainly didn't look appetising at all. I just wish I'd taken photo of it. Our local takeaway cooks this dish like an omelette, whereas China Red just mixed it up like scrambled egg.

Two out of three ok one not so good

Have been going to China Red since it opened in Poulton and always enjoyed the food and service. Went with friends last night and was very disappointed, since the change of management, the menu has changed,and unfortunately not for the better. Some food was lukewarm and in cold bowls and quality was was not up to the usual standard. Sorry will not be rushing back to what was a favourite place to eat.

Great food! The mid week offer is amazing value. It was definitely too much food for me to eat but it was all good quality and the service was fantastic. I would definitely recommend eating here.

Soggy cold inedible chips that had more carrot in for some reason than onion or chillies? The seaweed wasn't even cooked properly and was swimming in grease, wasn't even crunchy and was another inedible part of the order, the curry sauce was so watery it literally just looked like brown water. The fried rice was barely warm and was only just edible. Not seasoned though and had no flavour whatsoever. This order came in the door and after being looked at and tried went straight in the bin. Not only was this a complete Waste of money it was almost entirely inedible and easily the worst Chinese I've ever ordered from anywhere. Avoid this place unless you like throwing away money on food you actually can't or certainly won't want to eat. Ive posted a screenshot of the online receipt so the restaurant can't claim this is a fake review.

Far too rushed. Booked online git confirmation email then didn't have our booking. Them rushed us wanting us out quick.. Bloody rude. Not going again and yes it was the right restaurant China Red

We went for a birthday meal last night, having not been since it changed owners and we was very happy with everything, friendly staff, lovely fresh tasty food, the buffet was our choice and they even offered to box up what we had left over to take home 😊 wouldn’t hesitate to return.

We celebrated our golden Wedding Anniversary as a family party of 19 last night at China Red Poulton , we all had saver menu so we all got to try many of dishes on the menu .The food was excellent !,all dishes served up beautifully and plentyful portions .The staff were wonderful(nothing too much trouble) which made it a lovely family outing. We would all like to say well done and thank you all at China Red !!!

I booked here for a special birthday meal, there were 24 of us. We all arrived between 7 & 7:15pm as arranged. The waiter was very stressed and impatient when taking orders. Starters came reasonably quickly and was very nice. Then the GREAT LONG WAIT for mains! It was around 9:30pm by the time the first lot of mains came out of the kitchen (I had been to asked where food was several times to be told 10 minutes each time.) But not all parts of the mains were served some people got their curry but no rice and some got rice but no curry some of the missing foods were another 20 minutes. Children were extremely hungry by this point. The second table finally got served albeit in parts as the previous table had. The food was gorgeous and I can not complain about that, BUT the service was shocking! There were takeaways being brought back through the restaurant with customers complaining. Other people in the restaurant were waiting just as long. I feel takeaway comes first and those in the restaurant are left waiting and given poor excuses when questioned. The restaurant have really let themselves down lovely food, shocking service and a grumpy, stressed waiter. I did complain as did other members of the party. We were offered a 20% discount off the bill. Would I go again? Probably not, sad to say.
