China Pearl in Richmond upon Thames

I ordered a takeaway from here for the first time in a while, and sadly it was a disappointing experience overall. The most positive thing was the prawn toast as these tasted great and were cheaper than other takeaways in the area. They came with a pot of sweet chilli sauce too which was nice. I also ordered salt & pepper ribs which didn’t taste too bad, but there was very little meat on the bones and far more vegetables than ribs in the whole dish overall. The whole experience was completely ruined however when I discovered a long black hair which had been cooked into the special fried rice. This was really disappointing and absolutely puts me off ordering from here again. One other negative was the pot of satay sauce which I ordered as a side that didn’t look or taste like any satay sauce i’ve ever had before and was gloopy and pretty tasteless. Sadly the whole experience felt like a waste of £21.50.

I got food poisoning from this takeaway. The duck taste like cold liver and for some reason the special fried rice had a strong curry flavour I'm very disappointed and will be taking this further with trading standards.

Ordered food via deliveroo. My son and I are still suffering food poisoning Think twice about using this place - They didn't fulfill the order, they gave us food poisoning and don't pick up the phone. A really consistent and great Chinese! We have had takeaway from The China pearl quite a few times now and the ordering and customer service is so easy! The food is consistently good and great value for money vs portion size as well. Lovely local Chinese in Kew!

Pink chicken satay and unusual sauce. The chicken fried rice wasnt fried was whote rice with pink chicken and about 8 peas. The soup was ok but delivered in a sauce pot. Complete waste of money

/Asian takeaway restaurant/ We are in London for a few days and made a detour to this restaurant, close to the hotel. The person who welcomes is friendly and offers a map with numbers to make it easier to understand. The portions are (really) very generous and inexpensive compared to what we are used to at home. Fast service. Bonus: a large bag of shrimp chips comes with the order. 👍

Appalling. Ordered online, delay again and again. Wont answer the phone despite repeated calls. Order finally cancelled after 1 hr 40 with no explanation or apology. Awful restaurant. Be very careful before ordering from here.

Ordered a sizeable amount of food on Just Eat and it never showed up!! We waited over an hour, with about 20 minutes of that being told by the app the food is with the driver and nothing…we live a 5 minute drive from the restaurant so obviously it wasn’t with a driver. Tried to call the restaurant 6 times with no answer so now we are trying to see if we can get our money and sort something else out! Absolutely appalling

This place doesn’t even deserve a one star ! Ordered from here at 9pm , it’s not 10:30 pm there closing times and I have not received my order I have called more than 12 times this is disgraceful .

AVOID AVOID AVOID Ordered a large order from here yesterday and the food was bland far too much sugar used and pretty much the hole order went in the bin. There was no taste to anything the chicken balls had been cremated the sweet and sour sauce made me heave. The chicken curry was so sweet you cant eat it, the noodles and rice was stodgy. The guy was alone in the shop taking orders and cooking how are you meant to run a shop like that. This food is not fit for human consumption and should not be sold. It really was terrible.

Much better than time ago, the dishes are great portion size especially Chow Mein and soups delicious! I'm sure the pots could be improved for a better handling on the flavor the paper cups would fit the best, something like Kokoro or similar.

Picked up a takeaway as a Christmas eve treat, not had chinese food takeaway in years and from past experience it's always hit and miss to find a good one. This is a good one!! Delicious appetisers and the chow mein was 👌 definitely going to be a returning customer!! Thought it was a lovely touch with complimentary prawn crackers and an Xmas napkin. Only negative comment is packaging was too full and leaking through cardboard lids making my bag a mess, although that seems silly to complain of too big a portion.. 🤭 if possible would benefit from the plastic containers instead of card/foil.. packaging 3/10, food 10/10 😋

Great A1 service. Initially got part of my order wrong but fixed it immediately and added with a free drink as a compensation. Fantastic.

Recently when I went there with my family it was very good food and we all enjoyed it

After a 3 hour delay I called them and they gave an extra 20 mins wait that, of course, was longer than that. 4 hours and a half later the food was cold and with a weird back taste. Don't make the mistake of calling them or you will end up the day hungry and angry

I don't recommend. In my experience, food dry and tasteless. We also found hair in it.

Nice lady. Does not speak English well but is lovely. We had duck in ginger and onion souce. Relly nice.

Extremely unhappy. My first time ordering from them. I had ordered 5 dishes for takeaway. Picked up the food and brought it home only to find out that 1 of the dishes was missing. I called them to inform them that they missed one of the dishes. They accused me of lying and said that they gave me 5 dishes. They were unwilling to give me the dish I ordered and said I would have to pay for it again. I told them that it was unacceptable and that if they didn’t provide the dish I would never order from them again. They hung-up the telephone. Don’t order from China Pearl. Poor customer service and they actually don’t fill the order and accuse you of lying. No way to run a business. As for the food, not that good anyway. Too much sugar used in the dishes. Disappointing food. Don’t bother. Horrible experience.

Slow restaurant, long wait not enough staff members. Otherwise the girl is nice.

Please avoid this place. My order was half an hour late (midweek) My chicken wings smelled of old oil, had a texture like jerky and gave me an awful tummy ache. The prawn toast arrived soggy because they didnt wrap the order correctly and the sauce spilled. The driver blamed the restaurant, the restaurant blamed the driver. No refund, no offer for replacement. Appalling.

Have recently really upped their game. Much tasiter and fresher veg . Keep it up guys

Friendly family run. Have had no issue with the quality of the food. We have ordered several times from here. The one star reviews are nonsensical. Lovely folks and reasonably priced.

2 hour wait for delivery and food was really bad.

Food took over 2 hours to arrive and was not good. It hurts my soul that I spent money on this. I will never forgive myself for making such an egregious error.

Very poor takeaway from here. Large spring rolls ordered were soggy and not properly described. Rest of food was poor. Wouldn't order again, which is a shame as many people seem to have had better meals.

The food here is decent (I've ordered from here a few times as I live down the street from it), but, I have to leave a one star review purely because of the smell. As I said, I live a few doors along from here, and almost every night, at around 7 pm, the most god-awful smell comes into the house, causing our house to stink and our evening to be ruined. Even when the windows are shut and we've used ridiculous amounts of Febreeze, somehow the onion-y smell still seeps into our house. After the aroma has gone from outside, the smell still sometimes lingers inside, causing us to have to open the doors and windows to fumigate the house. If you live far away, then the place and food are decent, however if you are unfortunate enough to live nearby, the rank odours excreted from this place will haunt you.

I'm really disappointed that after using China Pearl for years and years that the first time ever I ring up to complain after receiving a terrible quarter duck with barely enough meat to feed a sparrow let alone me the man I speak to has no customer service skills at all. I've ordered a quarter duck for half of my life from Chinese restaurants and lots from China Pearl and I know what portion size it is supposed to be but this was nothing like usual , it was just burnt skin, fat and hardly any meat . I was a long standing customer but after them not being the slightest bit apologetic and not seeming to even care that a regular customer of 9 years had a complaint I will never use them again. I've since seen they have a Food Standards rating of 1 out of 5 too so just as well. Give your kitchen a good clean and get a better person to take calls!!!
