China Palace in Doncaster

Excellent food, service and surroundings!! This is by far the best buffet chinese in doncaster! Everything we ordered was tasty and well worth the price!

So we pre booked a table for 12 people for the buffet for my partners birthday. There were 3 extra people who came last minute and they were great and gave us another table straight away. The table was booked for 6:30 we orders starters around 7pm it took them 40 minutes to bring them out so we ordered the main pretty much straight after we ended up paying for the buffet but only had 1 starter each and a main as we had kids with us it was 9:30 when we left and didn’t have time to order more, they only bought out 1 noodles and 1 rice for 12 people to share so had to ask for more but food was cold by time they bought them out very disappointed and will not be visiting again!

Nice meal but very average, decor feels very 1995 especially with the music from top of the popz HK Service a little slow too

Very quite on a Friday lunch time, as soon as you walk in just feel like back to the 80’s (decorations, music & everything), dim sum came quite quickly and most of them are ok, there isn’t any other choices in the city at all, I’m surprised there isn’t another Dimsum restaurant in Doncaster

Great lunch menu, loads to choose from. The food was spot on, no complaints at all. Lovely clean place, will definately be going back for another meal xxxx

I’ve been coming here for years, for as long as I can remember. The service and food never let us down! I recommend this restaurant to all of my friends and family and they say the same, It’s a 100/10 place! P.S. GET THE BUFFET MENU! Keep up the great work folks!😊

Went for a meal yesterday,service was slow,place was absolutely freezing,food was not clever at all.all felt warmed up.not gone into work today as I Carnt keep of the toilet i would strongly advice people to give it a miss

Visited for lunch with my partner. We had such a wonderful time. The restaurant is beautiful and has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The food is amazing and the jasmine tea was so nice. Also, the restaurant offers a takeaway service, which is nice addition. Can't wait for the next visit.

I will be honest we went here after walking around Doncaster looking for a Indian restaurant, they all seemed closed or had poor reviews so ended up here. Well the service was excellent The food was freshly cooked and was very nice. We asked for extra chilli in a dish and they chopped up fresh ones were quite often if you ask that they just add dried or sauce. Portions were large and the price was cheap.

I have been going here for years and it’s by far the best Chinese in South Yorkshire. Service, food, value for money 10/10 consistently.

Highly rated by others so I was excited to try. The staff and service and location are all incredible but for me, the food wasn’t the one. A Chinese is either incredible or ok and this was, ok. I wish I could say better but I wouldn’t go back

if this restaurant is down at 89th best restaurant in Doncaster then i need to move there!. Went Wednesday night, the place was busy with diners and there was a party upstairs. Service was speedy and friendly, Menu was BIG. All the dishes were tasty and well cooked and e could'nt fault a thing. Will definately return if that way again.

Went to get a take away Saturday night 8.0pm ordered special curry and chips. The curry was watery and tasteless hardly any meat all onion s. The chips were cold and were not cooked through 4 out of 10 won't be back.

We have visited the China Palace on Silver Street in Doncaster many times throughout the years. Having not been for several years, we decided to pay a visit for a date night in January. The positives are that the food is still good and the service from the staff is exceptional, they cannot do enough for you. The negatives are that this used to feel like a high end restaurant but now sadly has that cheap all you can eat Chinese buffet feel, which is sometimes reminiscent of sitting in a school dinner hall. Great if you want a cheap and cheerful lunch at dinner time but would probably avoid if your looking for something more sophisticated for a special occasion or date night etc.

This was our first time visiting after hearing lots of positive reviews. For £18 each it was definitely value for money! They gave us complementary aromatic duck and prawn crackers to start, then we ordered appetisers from the set buffet menu followed by the mains....

We've been here before when Chinese people use this place for a wedding or christening meal. It is the main place to go to in Doncaster if you're Chinese because it has a menu that is more than what you'd get in a standard takeaway....

Visited today for lunch, 2nd visit this month!! Have been here before many moons ago. The whole restaurant is immaculate, including the toilets. There is a fairly extensive choice of dishes on the lunch menu. Which has a set price. The servers are so pleasant...

Very disappointing! - we haven't been for a while, and what a difference? - the quality AND quantity of the food had dramatically changed,the choice of dishes on the banquet menu has been reduced,( Not one mushroom dish!) The all you can eat menu for £18 per person was great! Order as many starters and mains as you like. Great quality food, all hot and fresh. The staff were all lovely and very attentive.

I booked in advance for my birthday. We always come here for meals and occasions. But this time we was disappointed. Our table wasnt ready, dont think they understood what we was saying. Food took ages to come, we was there 3 hours in total. There was 6 adults and 6 kids. There was hardly any waiters around to ask for food and drinks. Service was poor. Food was nice, when we eventually got someones attention. It wasnt full.i messaged restuarant but no response. Usually when its a birthday they give you free drink or dessert and play song. But nothing no happy birthday or nothing. Wont be coming here again.

I visited this restaurant with some friends. We only had main courses which were all excellent. I was jealous of my friend’s selections! But best of all was the very friendly service. We were well looked after.

Family meal out and I can honestly say it was the eBay Chinese we have ever had.. we’ve had Chinese in Chinatown in London and New York and neither are a patch not this. Everything was so tasty and hot. No rush with service which was a bonus as we had lots of time to relax and chat.

Went Saturday night 11/05/2019. Had to return starter due to same being cold in the middle. On main courses arriving these were tasteless and rice stuck together in lumps. Asked for more black been sauce to give meal additional taste and this was facilitated, on this arriving it appeared to be a different colour to the sauce on the meal and also tasteless. Reported meal to staff which they could only apologies for, but did not appear surprised. Manager bid offer to cook meals again but by this time we had gone off i idea of having a Chinese and went home and had a crisp sandwich instead. Received on rebate or further apology for meal so might as well have thrown money down Silver Street. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

My boyfriend & I came here a couple of weeks ago for a surprise date night which he had planned. The manager was very attentive and made us feel more like part of the family than just customers. My boyfriend is never full and half way through our main he ordered himself 2 extra courses and to the staff, kitchen staff and manager they were more than happy to do this for him. the food was incredible, full of flavour and so "more-ish". Will definitely be returning! This resturant is the best chinese food i have ever eaten.

Took visiting friends from abroad to the only authentic Cantonese cuisine restaurant in Doncaster.

Been before when we were the only ones in there and was decent, but tonight with a full restaurant they just couldn't cope. 45 minutes until first drinks arrived (after pestering), 90 minutes until starter and 120 minutes until main. Was an all you can eat buffet but not waiting another hour for another course, had something else at home instead...

Surprised. I tried many Chinese restaurants in UK outside London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, and York. I found the roast duck is superb with cracking skin and juice meat. The custard bun is very good too. I recommend these.

Visited on a Sunday night after a FA cup game, the restaurant was just around the corner from our B&B.; It was quiet and we didn't expect much but we were really impressed by the quality of the food. Good sized portions, every dish we chose was tasty and cooked to perfection. Our favorite was the fillet steak in garlic and black bean sauce, delicious and worth every penny. Very reasonable price and highly recommended.

Found this restaurant by accident. The staff were great. I ordered from the main menu and my food was excellent! Deep fried salt and chilli king prawns with hot sour soup to start. Top notch! Beef with green peppers garlic and black bean sauce for main course. Washed down with 2 glasses of house red. All in all very satisfied with the food and service. Thoroughly recommend a visit and will happily return when I am in the area. Thank you to the team that looked after me so well!

Booked for a large group 2 months in advance so expected everything to be sorted on arrival. Arrived to find they had sat 11 people to a table which in itself was very tight. There was only 1 person servicing at the bar so had at least a 20 minute wait to be served. When we did get seated we was brought out starters 1 dish at a time with only 1 item per person and a 10 minute wait in-between. At one point we had a plate of ribs delivered with 11 ribs on it! The main course didn't even start til 10pm. I noticed several tables leave after ordering as it was taking too long and to be fair had we not already paid for the meal we would have left as well. When we complained to the head of house he could only apologies and inform us there was not enough staff. , There was no gesture to try and compensate for our delay just an apology that was being repeated at every table and an excuse of no staff. Considering we had paid nearly a £1000 for this booking I felt this excuse was a disgrace. This wasn't just a walk in they had been given 2 months notice that we would be dinning. I certainly will not be visiting again and would prompt anyone with a large group booking to avoid at all costs.

Came with a large party of 59 which was booked with plenty of notice. Arrived to 1 staff member serving drinks which meant it took nearly 30 mins to be served and if you went to the bar you missed food.

Lovely service, freshly cooked food and greay value. . Uch better than the usual buffet style eat all you like as you order fresh each course you want.

Dined here on the evening of 31:12/18. I used to eat here fairly regularly around 20 years ago and it was the place to go for Chinese food in Doncaster. Nothing's changed, the decor, the menus, the furniture, the carpets, the bar area and I think I even recognised some of the staff. When I say nothing's changed, I mean that the whole place is in need of some TLC and an update as it looks quite tired. It used to be bright and have a vibrant atmosphere but now it's a little gloomy. However, the good thing is that the food hasn't changed, either. We ate from the banquet menu, you choose your starters and mains for a set price and each dish is cooked fresh and served to your table, you can have as much as you like and you are given crispy aromatic duck, pancakes and vegetables between your starters and main courses. Everything was delicious and seemed exactly as I'd remembered it, I gave the four stars for the food alone. Alas, the service was terrible, our wait between arriving, receiving our first course and further courses was way too long, I think anything up to thirty minutes each time. The restaurant was drastically understaffed, the bar area was a disgrace with stacks of glasses piled up everywhere and just one member of staff trying to manage that and helping the waitresses to serve. No matter how hard you tried, you just could not anyone's attention to order extra drinks so I gave up. Ironically enough, once we received the bill (outstanding value for what we ate) and we got up to pay and leave, a waitress appeared like a ninja from nowhere and guided us to their debit card reader at the fron of the venue. If only they could employ the same attitude in their service. In a nutshell: really good food served by the Keystone Cops. My tip would be to try it on a quieter midweek evening as the food is really worth sampling.

Visited China Palace as part of a birthday celebration group of 15, a mix of ages ranging from a few months old to early 50's.

Stopped in on the off chance. Were shown straight to a table and asked about drinks. There was a lunch menu available which had a great selection and a very reasonable price. The three of us really enjoyed the meal. The food was freshly cooked and the portions were just right. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will certainly go back

Visited this restaurant on Friday night, entered the restaurant at 10.10pm was told by the girl at the till they close at 11pm , asked if we should leave but was shown to a table.

Booked this restaurant for 14 people, I didn't realize it was a buffet style restaurant - my mistake - we were greeted warmly by a very nice gent who was very attentive and explained it was 20.00 per head for the all you can eat, we were given starters which were very nice and then ordered our main courses, one of the group cannot eat ginger and was given her dish with ginger so could not eat this, all of the main courses were very mediocre. We found this a very expensive place to each the bill for 14 people came to 420.00, so taking this to 120.00 for our drinks after taking off the 20.00 per head for the meal. I personally would not be going again.

Lovely lovely food. We went for the banquet option £20 per head and all you can eat. It was delicious! The staff are so attentive and quick. The manager seemed to be a lovely man who was very chatty with his customers which was nice to see.

Visited here with a party of 6 adults and two kids. Quiet during the day but nothing was too much trouble for the staff. There are several different menus available and you need to ask for the lunchtime special deal or the Dim Sum menu. Lots of different food ordered and all looked good, however the Dim Sum I opted for was excellent. The final bill was very resonable and everyone left with full stomachs. Will be back.

Super night and they cooled our food to order as one person had allergies. Super nice, interesting food and a lovely setting. I was surprised this existed in Doncaster. They have a cheap lunchtime menu too.

We used to love coming to China Palace for authentic chinese food, then for a time, it seemed to struggle with quality. I am very glad to see that quality is back. We have had some lovely food, and in particular, lovely dim sum recently. Long may it continue!

We visited as part of a big group for our friends birthday. They had two big tables pushed together they did orders separately for each table even though we was one big group so one half of the table got all their food first and they had all finished before our side was even close to getting ours, the staff were rude and clueless and thought the situation was funny all they could do was offer prawn crackers. The food came and it was cold I had the special curry and it was just full of salt my wife had chow mein which was stone cold and very dry.. I wouldnt let my pets eat at this place it is discusting..

I have visited this restaurant a few times and it is always a highlight of a trip to Doncaster to get the chance to come back here.

The welcoming host is very friendly and makes people feel very welcome.

Local favourite takeaway has closed down, so followed recommendations for the restaurant and thought we'd try their takeaway. Please ensure you check your receipt when you collect, the girl had added 2 extra meals and an extra portion of rice which we didn't order! Luckily we queried the price before we set off home, the girl had the audacity to tell my partner that's what I'd ordered when he had sat next to me when I rang, and heard her repeat the order back! A shameful tactic to increase customer's bills (how many people check, and how many wouldn't bother to complain once they've got home with their food) which is a shame as the food was good.

We were drawn in by the 5 hygiene rating and were not disappointed. Both starting with the soup then sharing 3 main dishes with rice, we were pretty well full by the end! The one slight error was the veg dish brought was not the one with cashew nuts, but this was soon adjusted on the bill. The manager worked the tables well and his crew were efficient and friendly! The menu included some hotpot dishes. We will have to try them sometime!

Me and my fiance went while we had a few baby free hours to ourselves. The restaurant wasn't too busy as it was a Monday so we got seated fast. The food came pretty speedy also and we had ordered the 3 roast with rice, extra veggies (pak choi) and wonton soup. There was a crazy big bowl of soup with lots of wonton and veg in it, the pak choi tasted great but there wasn't a lot of rice or a lot of meat, maybe we are too use to the Chinese restaurants in Manchester doing bigger portions but we could have done with more as the price is the same as previous places we've been to. Saying that though the quality is still good and we would definitely go again. The staff are very welcoming and the restaurant is very clean.

Four of us recently visited the China Palace and we had such a lovely evening there!We were greeted by the manager who was so welcoming and friendly!We had the £20 banquet menu which was very good value and the food was excellent. My friend absolutely LOVES this place and honestly talks about it all the time, once in Doncaster shopping we decided to go for lunch! I was pleasantly surprised! The lunch time menu is £7 for 2 courses and a big bowl of prawn crackers to share!!! The dishes were both (i had lettuce wraps for starters & chow mein for main) beautiful!! And presented nicely too! I cant wait to visit again and now i see what my friend was always raving about!

Excellent quality food in large portions, the delivery girl (Wednesday 28th June) was exceptional, cheerful and chatty and very efficient making the process of buying our meal all the better, a pleasure to have food from this Chinese take-away, I only wish we were staying in the area longer so we could use it again.We had the BBQ Spare Ribs which were large not like the normal skinny ones most take-away's serve, lot's of meat on them and a nice sauce, we also had the Sweet and Sour Chicken balls which were of excellent quality too, with that we had portions of boiled rice, an egg fried rice, seaweed, and some excellent meat spring rolls with free prawn crackers. All in all, perfect throughout.

We opted for the eat all you can option which is well worth the £18 each.The staff are exceptional and the food was just what we expected. Good quality and plenty of it. The staff were quick to top up our selections with a friendly smile.

Called in here while up in Doncaster on business. All I can say is it was an excellent evening. Food was superb. We had the all you can eat for £20 and the portion sizes were fantastic. Great service too. Would definitely go back when next in town.

Me an my 11yr old son went on a sunday afternoon so it was the lunch time menu ,there was only two other tables been used food was nice but nothing to shout about we has a starter and a main an a drink each for £18 which I thought was good value it next time I would go on a night.

We went in a group of 8 for a business lunch. Everyone really enjoyed their food - me vegetarian, meat eaters and one celiac. We were very happy from the atmosphere, food quality and final bill.

Spur of the moment the hubby decided that he wanted to try the banquet menu here. I've been before a while ago and really enjoyed it but hubby hadn't been before. Booked that afternoon for four. Restaurant wasn't overly busy for a Friday night but we did go early on. Banquet menu was great. It is all you can eat but not buffet style. You order what you want and then can order extra dishes as many times as you want. You don't have to have the banquet menu you can order individual items from an a la carte style menu if you prefer. Good quality Chinese and friendly staff. Thanks, we'll be back.

Walked straight in without having to book and was shown to a nice table after a few minutes wait.There are 2 menus the a la carte and the buffet option. We opted for the a la carte and a couple of starters. Everything was nice but the big disappointment was the prawn toast which priced at over £3 was a complete waste of money in fact I don't think they had any prawns in but the rest was good and an ok selection of drinks for a Chinese restaurant.Price was ok but I've had far better meals for less money so would probably try somewhere else on our next visit to Doncaster although I don't think there's a big choice in the town itself !!The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

I love experimenting. And this place is one huge experiment. Not only is there an extensive menu of delicious "standard" chinese food, but there is also the stuff the chinese eat that you don't see in other restaurants - hotpots, jellyfish, taifun, oysters in batter, pork hock, big bowl noodles, tripe(yum - yes really!) dimsum, my minds agog (and so is my tum sometimes). This restaurant has become my overall favourite here in Doncaster over the last few months. It is a large place, so no real worries about booking, the staff are brilliant, the food is fantastic. A place worth visiting for both a meal by yourself or a full blown celebration. A good recommendtion is seeing Chinese people eating in a Chinese restaurant and there are always 8 or more when I go in there.Well recommended.

Absolutely superb all round. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, the service was second to none. Husband wanted dim sum which wasn't on the menu they brought out. But when he mentioned it, a menu was brought straight over from which he could pick anything he wanted!!Wine was good and reasonable. Overall bill was so cheap we checked it twice!! Efficient and friendly customer service. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Will definitely go back when in the area.

We called in early tea time for a quick meal before an event at the minster, staff were very friendly, place was clean and well decorated and the food was excellent, will definately return for the all you can eat banquet when we have more time.

Have been many times over the years..for friends or family birthdays and works xmas meal.Our family works night out at xmas has been here for 8+ years now..thats a full endorsement in itself !!!I find the main waiter to be friendly and professional , your greeted at the door and he oversees your dining experience...other waiter/waitress staff are less personable but efficient at serving etc..Bar is small but does offer draft options.Wine selection is good.We have always had the banquet option with duck...we always look forward to going back..excellent value for money.Clean and tidy restaurant.Wc upstairs..Best Chinese in doncaster.

Came up on the train from London today booked lunch a couple of months ago , after looking at the reviews which looked good. Service, friendliness and food was perfect just what I was looking for, as my mums favourite meal is Chinese and I do not know the area. I was so impressed that they remembered when I booked that it was her birthday. After the meal they came out with an ice cream with a candle and sang happy birthday and gave her a glass of wine on the house. Would highly recommend and wish there were more places where I live that offered the same service , friendliness and food. Also very reasonably priced.

Went as a all you can eat but it was so busy they didn't come to the table very often so even if we wanted to re order we had to hunt a member of staff down. No spring rolls on the starter. And the ribs came out a good 20 mins after the rest of the started. took 1 hour from started to mains to arrive. The main guy and the food was lovely but just not happy with the service speed
