Eastern Dream is an absolute hidden gem! The pad thai stood out with its perfect blend of flavors, offering a wonderful balance of sweet, tangy, and savory in every bite. The Chicken Lollipops were irresistibly crispy on the outside and tender inside, making for the perfect appetiser. The Sushi was fresh and beautifully presented. Eastern Dream truly delivers a memorable dining experience that I can’t wait to revisit!!!

Second time visiting and it was just as lovely. The chicken lollipop remains my favourite dish. Our group shared a range of starters, sushi along with some pad thai. Truly a hidden gem.

Very average food. There was hardly any sauce in the Massam curry. Duck was delicious. £5.95 for two pieces of chicken satay! Sushi was unreal.

We were here last night for a last minute meal. Found by chance and what a find it was! Excellent food, everything was fresh, 10/10!! The highlights were the sweet and sour pork, sushi was so fresh and delicious! The portions were generous too! The service was also excellent. My husband and I visited for an impromptu Thursday tea and decided we wanted to try somewhere new. After looking at the positive reviews, we thought we'd give Our Eastern Dreamz a go. When we arrived, we were promptly seated and given menus which had a wide offering, something to suit everybody. We ordered half a dozen starter dishes and a couple of plates of sushi. Everything arrived piping hot and fresh, everything we ordered was really delicious, especially the chilli prawns and the chicken lollipops. The gyoza were cooked to our liking (fried). Following on from our starters, we had three different types of sushi rolls and each one was delicious. You could tell they had been made-to-order and hand rolled. The veg inside was delicious and crunchy and the fish fresh and tasty. Would recommend to anyone!

I was back here again really enjoyed my food, everytime i come back here they surprise me with their taste. Even the restaurant looks quiet it’s very special staff and yummy foods. Will visit here again🙏🏽

I had a wonderful night dining at this restaurant with my family. With polite staffs and a great service, the atmosphere was very welcoming. The dishes are extremely delicious, each bursting with unique flavours. I would definitely come again with friends and family to experience these delicious spices all over again and again :)

We used to eat here for special occasions. Went tonight for Valentines Day. So disappointing. Service was very lacking, we waited for ages to order a first drink and gave up trying to order top ups. Food was bland with no real taste and the chicken balls were so over cooked they were hard to eat. Didn’t even wait for the fruit platter! The bill of £52 was so,overpriced. We will not be going back.

We have been going to the China Moon for 15 years, usually whenever we have had any of our grandchildren visit. The staff always used to make a fuss of them and they were mesmerised by what they called 'smoky fruit' - a (free) plate of small pieces of fruit that came on a bowl of water with a scoop of dry ice. Whilst the food continued to be good sadly the standard of service deteriorated in recent years, to the extent that when we went in the summer of 2019 we vowed we would never go again. However, 2 of our grandchildren were visiting and persuaded us to go What we didn't know is that the restaurant had changed hands since our previous visit. The food was excellent and the service even better - the staff could not have been more obliging. We got extras of all the things we (well the children, aged 9 and 11) asked for - more prawn crackers, more pancakes etc to go with the crispy duck, even a second helping of smoky fruit! It was brilliant!

I know it's hard to say but it's actually better than the last owners more tasty less greasy, outstanding!

We visited the restaurant as a gift from work colleagues. It has recently been take over by new owners. It was early Thursday evening the restaurant was quiet but the takeaway was busy. We were taken to our table and given some prawn crackers with dip to munch while we decided what we were having . The restaurant was clean and had some nice decor . We ordered our food that arrived on hot plates on food warmers ( we like hot plates) . Our starters were delicious vegetable spring rolls and capital spare ribs. We ordered some sizzling dishes and these arrived sizzling and where also delicious. Unbeknown to us after our main they brought out a plate of fruit on top of a bowl of dry nice the cascaded over the table a real wow moment we won’t forget. We were told about their Sunday buffet where they cook your dishes to order so they are not left out all afternoon . This was our first visit to the restaurant we will be back to try The takeaway and Sunday buffet . The service was first class as well and the lady that served us you could tell she wanted us to have a great time.

We have been having take aways from this restaurant for a few years. Recently changed hands. Duck dishes are lovely. Some of the usual dishes we have eaten are not as good as with previous owners. Seem to use pineapple in satay skewers dish, not necessary.Salt and pepper ribs were awful but we had these the week they took over.

The food was excellent and a great price. I wish the owners a great success with there new business. This has always been my favourite restaurant.

Went for my mums birthday with all the family. Food was beautiful and plenty of it. We had the buffet on the Sunday well worth the money. Very friendly people and made us very welcome and made my mums day. Nice surprise with the birthday cake. Definitely go back.

Stopped here again when returning from holiday for the Sunday buffet, it’s brilliant value for money and the staff are very attentive,we arrived just after 1pm and it was quite busy, got sat quickly and our drinks and starters arrived very quickly,over 200 dishes to choose from ,all food is cooked to order and you can ask for small dishes if you want so you can try as many as you can,defiantly recommend this place and look forward to our next visit

For 17 quid person this Chinese restaurant represented great value for money. Dont be put off by the exterior; the interior was very nicely appointed. The owner was extremely friendly and ensured you felt at home with excellent service. The food was wonderful and you were encouraged to have as much as you liked. Also you weren't fleeced for drinks as sometimes happens with all you can eat establishments.

Called this restaurant for a take away yesterday . The young lady I spoke to was extremely polite and helpful with my order. I asked if I could collect it at a particular time . No problem at all.

We booked this based on trip adviser rating and were not disappointed. There was 7 of us that booked fairly last minute. The restaurant is a good size with good parking and the food was very nice. There was a very friendly lady who served us and even gave the children some extra sweets to take away with them. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Stopped here on my way back from holiday on a Sunday, passed here many times and always wanted to stop but always been at the wrong time, it was the Sunday buffet which was on and it is a fab price and eat as much as you like, food is cooked fresh for you and it was beautiful,defiantly have the duck it was fab really crispy and full of flavour,staff very pleasant and I will definitely return again.

Celebrating our son’s birthday, we recently booked a table at China Moon in a busy Saturday Night. Service was really friendly and efficient and on arrival our table had been set with birthday glitter and a happy birthday banner, a thoughtful touch. We ordered a banquet and really enjoyed all of the courses. The duck was particularly good crispy on the outside but with soft meat inside - perfect. We had a lovely evening with great food offering really good value.

A wonderful Chinese restaurant. The food is excellent. With a complimentary fruit finish to cleanse the palet. It arrives theatrically with clouds produced by dry ice rolling over the table. The staff are all charming and helpful. Coming originally from London where there is great competition this ranks as my favourite Chinese restaurants outside of China town. Do try the Cantonese roast duck and the teriyaki chicken (not strictly Chinese but a delicious flavour).

Stopped here enroute home, about halfway in our drive. Surprised at how good the food is and service is very friendly. Eat here on a Sunday when between noon and 3 it's as much as you can eat. All freshly cooked and not a buffet, hence the food excellent. Will stop again.

A nice restaurant with very tasty food. Service is very good and staff were very friendly. However, the portions of food and drink could have been slightly larger, given the price.

Don't be put off by the location and outward appearance of the China Moon - it is a great Chinese. We went following a recommendation from a friend (unlikely to have gone there otherwise) and we've been back on numerous occasions - even taking our parents there (praise indeed!).

Went here for the first time with family on New Years Eve. What a fiasco! We arrived at 1730 as there were children in our party and left at 2100. Service was terrible - a snail would have been able to provide table service at a quicker pace. Food was non descript.

We live in Wokrsop and travel down the A1 to the Tuxford / Lincoln turn off to visit the China Mooon a few times each year. The buildind does not look the most inviting but the interior is nicely decorated.

We were always a bit sceptical given it's location but it was absolutely superb. We went on a Sunday evening, the restaurant was quiet but a really good ambience. There was a steady stream of Take away customers highlighting its quality. There is a buffet from 12-3 on Sunday but we went A la Carte in the eveing. We used to live in Manchester and were regularly in China town and this restaurant matches anything there! Definitely make sure you go!

the food was amazing, we recently tried the all you can eat menu on a Sunday, and it was great value for money, nothing was to much trouble for them, we even asked for extra starters as the child we had with us didn’t like the main meal we ordered for her. Turned up without booking, they managed to find us a table. Food is ok and pleasant atmosphere . Had set meal for 4 and two mixed vegetarian dishes. Portion sizes of the main courses are a bit smaller than say a takeaway meal. But everything was eaten, with exception of the bowl of rice, needed a side of sauce or a curry dish.

We visited with my parents and teenage son. I checked the reviews beforehand so expectations were reasonably high. It was a really nice experience with good food. Well worth a visit.

China moon is a little wooden building sat at the side of the A1 just outside of Retford. To all passers by it looks empty and unused, but wow!! This place is by far the best Chinese I have ever had. Before visiting China moon I was very particular about what I ate from a Chinese, and this place changed my mind. The chicken and green pepper in black bean is delicious and the portions are huge! I would definitely recommend a trip!

I visited with my wife and teenage grandson while staying round the corner at Travelodge. Although the outside in unprepossessing in appearance, the interior is nicely decorated.

From the outside this out of the way restaurant looks a little tired. However, the menu and food was far from tired. Flavours burst out of the dishes one of the best Chinese meals I've had including Hong Kong!

First visit, nice quiet location with ample parking. Welcoming staff, comfortable restaurant . Beef with vegatables, and lemon chicken were both very nice, served with fried rice. Nice clean loos, a nice place to eat, I would visit again.

I grew up near China moon and it rapidly became our regular when it opened. Everything in the menu is mouth watering. If you like spicy, try the Thai chicken

Visited here for my wife's birthday with our 2 young children,had normal meals not really excessive, still our bill came to £70. Expensive really to say can get better food at our local takeaway for £20. We can say we've been, but probably not again.

Visited on a Sunday and dissapointed ,food still tasty but portion size decreasing faster than the polar ice caps.Special Curry was good but hunt the prawns.Dissapointing ,need sorting and fast.

Took our friend for a meal out to celebrate her 82nd birthday. The vegetarian food was good, as always but our waitress so so rude. Asked to take some food home that was left over to be informed we weren't allowed as it was to eat in the restaurant only. We had paid for it. A smile and simple manners wouldnt go amiss either. Younger waitress seemed fine, ours, the older one had a bag of attitude about her that ruined our evening.

We usually call here when visiting Clumber Park. The food is always amazing. A good selection and always consistently well cooked. Can't wait for our next visit.

In the area for the weekend with my wife and 4 close friends (Couples), staying at the Travel lodge on the other side of the A1. We didnt arrive until after 2100hrs on Friday night. Out of convenience we thought we would try and get a table at the China Moon. After a long journey from Somerset what an excellent choice it proved to be. Very polite and friendly staff, fast and efficient service, well presented dishes, outstanding tastes and a nice touch at the end with a selection of sliced fruit on a bowl of dry ice flowing across the table.

Food was pretty average, vegetarian dishes were below par. Did not receive the complimentary fruit platter as the other tables did and my partner, who is black, put this down to racism.

Unable to book our usual Chinese restaurant so went here following recommendations from Facebook friends. Had crispy duck and minced chicken lettuce wrap starters which were so tasty. For main we chose four dishes including sizzling fillet steak in black bean sauce and I have to record that this was possibly the tastiest Chinese food I've ever eaten. Although the restaurant was quiet and the car park practically empty, please do not allow this to put you off eating here. The staff are so polite and courteous it really deserves to be a lot busier - try it - you will not be disappointed.

Don't be put off by the external appearance of the old Little Chef. The staff here are very pleasant and fun. The food is very authentic and produced and presented to a high standard. We had the set meal for 4 or more at £25 a head. They have a range starting from £20. This place is very good value and will be a regular for us.

We visited China Moon on a Wednesday evening and we really enjoyed the experience. The staff are very friendly, however what makes this better than other Chinese Restaurants is the top quality of the food, and its presentation. We loved the experience and will go back because we found the price to be reasonable. This surprised us because other reviews stated that it was good quality but more pricy than other places. We found this not to be the case.

My husband and I were travelling home on Sunday afternoon down the A1 (South bound) . We wanted a meal but the service stations were all busy. We saw this and decided to call in. It was 2.40pm but we were greeted with friendliness and good manners. We had their eat all you can Sunday Buffet. There was a good choice with everything cooked to order. The food was hot and full of flavour and well worth the money. I can easily see we will be calling again!

Came here to see what it would be like and will definitely be back again! Staff were friendly, polite and accommodating, We Chinese our food from the set menu and we wasn't disappointed, it was perfect, loads of flavour and excellent presentation.The fruit at the end of our meal was perfect! I'm surprised that the restaurant wasn't full when our party of four arrived although it was a Thursday evening. It has such a good local reputation. The waiter was really helpful and friendly. We had a variety of food and drink including dessert and the total cost was just under £100. I believe that this is good value for such tasty, well cooked food. The spectacular fit-based finale is impressive. We'll certainly visit again.

This was our first visit to China Moon and we will not be going again unfortunately. We had booked for 6 o'clock on a Saturday evening and it was quiet when we arrived so the staff were quite attentive, if not particularly welcoming or enthusiastic, but by 7 the place was busier and getting any service at all proved a challenge. We waited half an hour for the table to be cleared despite requesting the bill twice. The food was average, but expensive. The wine was unimpressive. The soundtrack was horrendous shopping centre music, and the décor was uninspiring.

I visited the restaurant with my son and his two daughters at 7.00 pm. We were greeted and shown to our table and asked if we were happy with where we were sitting. The waitress promptly delivered drinks to have whilst we were choosing our meal and asked if we were using chopsticks or did we require cutlery. My granddaughters made the decision to try out the chopsticks and a practise run was tried whilst waiting for the food. The youngest one managed to get it right declaring she had cracked the 'pork sticks'. Much merriment ensued. There were other children eating in the restaurant and it was nice to see the interaction by the staff to make them feel welcome. The food was delicious with chicken in satay, crispy fried chilli beef, Peking duck and sweet and sour chicken being the choices made. The rice is served in a big bowl - dependant on how many order rice. I think this makes for a good sharing experience. The Peking duck was on the starter menu with the choice of quarter, half or whole. I had the quarter served as a main meal and can recommend adding the sauce and duck to the rice. The was friendly, polite banter with the staff and there was no hurry for us to finish the meal. Reasonably priced at sixty six pounds for both the meal and two rounds of drinks. There is also set menu meals that can assist with cheaper eating if required. Recommend for a relaxing evening out with food of excellent quality and friendly atmosphere.

The food in this restaurant is of consistently good quality and service is good. It is slightly more expensive than other local Chinese restaurants, but it is a good venue for large parties. Worth a visit. The fruit platter which finishes every meal is very special. There is always ample parking, and it is easy to find.

We were staying at the Travelodge opposite to this restaurant. We decided to to have a meal had our old favourites which were excited to the highest standards the meal was exceptional and after eating we would have left quite happy but then the icing on top of the cake they brought out some sliced fresh fruit on a large white plate this had been placed on a large glass fruit dish which contained warm coloured water on reaching the table the waitress poured dry ice into the glass dish and covered in with the plate the result was a white mist of water vapour or should I say thick fog which covered the table. The fruit on plate was cooled but what an experience. Then the bill arrived we had two starters, three main dishes two portions of rice and drinks well £44 doesn't seem expensive all really fantastic to be honest. We started to leave after settling our bill and the waitress approached my wife and gave her a paper flower see attached photo. A good meal accentuated by a the dry ice experience followed by the flower turned this meal into an exceptional experience and I really hope anybody reading this gives it a try and adds to this review. Well done to the owners and staff a fantastic experience though my enjoyed by us both.

Visited the China Moon at the A1 Markham Moor roundabout last night with friends and we were all well pleased with the meal. Our table for four seemed a bit lonely at first but other diners came in and there was a nice atmosphere.( By the end of the meal we couldn't understand why it wasn't' packed out) The food was delicious-our soup starters were all better than the average- the hot and sour was the best I have experienced for a long time. All the main courses were packed with flavour, beautifully cooked and well presented. We didn't expect the plate of fruit in a bowl of dry ice mist but it was a spectacular finale to a most enjoyable meal which was voted a big hit by all four of us

We have visited this restaurant on a few occasions and both me and my husband love it here. It doesn't matter if it's busy or just a few people in the staff are excellent and are always about to refill you drinks and get anything you need. The food is of good quality and very tasteful

Been here a few times and the food is simply amazing. The best duck I have ever tasted! Atmosphere is great and it's a lovely night out. It is slightly prices for certain items on the menu such as rice and noodles but apart from that it's a wonderful place to treat yourself!

Me and my family ate here for my birthday, the food was good, friendly staff, the food didn't take long to cook.The only problem is really after our meal they brought a fruit plate to us without asking and they expected us to pay for it which was overpriced, there was hardly any fruit on the plate and we got charge alot.

We had a table for six last night arrived at 7.00pm. Most of the tables were already occupied with large groups. We did have a long wait until a member of staff arrived with the first course. They were so busy I am afraid they should have employed more service staff. The food was very good just not enough to cater for 6 people around the table.The price was £25.00 pp. We felt we could have had a larger portions of the main meal, we should have asked. We did ask for more rice and that arrived lovely and hot. It was a lovely evening and the Lion Dance was fun to watch.

We were really looking forward to eating here but unfortunately we can only score it an average as one of our meals was fantastic and one of our meals was inedible. We had prawns which were absolutely beautiful but my friend had the birds nest with chicken and it was awful. The waitress did offer to change it so fair play but we are confused as to why the quality of food was inconsistent . We would not return I'm afraid after our experience but had we both ordered the prawns this would be a glowing review.

Usually high standard but what a let down! Service was extremely poor, we were told to come back to collect redeem in30 minutes when my husband arrived Tom ol left, he then waited a further 30 minutes. Once we got meal home it was cold and looked and tasted completely vile. Awful!

Stayed overnight at Markham moor the other weekend at the Travelodge. Asked the receptionist if she could recommend anywhere good to eat. Without hesitation she said if you like Chinese food "China Moon". At 19.45 on a Saturday night it was virtually empty so we were a little bit worried. By 21.00 it was packed, and I'm not surprised. My wife and I chose a set menu for two which consisted of four courses. All beautifully prepared and presented. Some really good dishes. Although some of the staff sometimes struggled a bit with the language they were very friendly. Cost was reasonable, but more importantly great food. Definitely worth another visit.

I love my soups, and the mark of a good restaurant is the chef's ability to coax flavours out in the broths.The five of us ordered the crab/ corn or chicken/ corn soup. The taste was dismal, to say the least. The soup was watery and tasted more of corn starch than anything else.We also ordered sweet and sour pork chilli chicken, egg fried rice and XO noodles.Of the lot I must say the noodles were the best. And probably the only thing I will order if I ever went back again.

This is a beautiful restaurant. The food is delicious and they also do it to take away. On Sundays they offer a "buffet" lunch for an all-in price, but it's not really a buffet in the sense that there's tureens of food, it's more of an "all you can eat" affair, where you can pick what you want from the menu and they'll cook it for you fresh. How nice is their food? Well, today we rang them to ask if they were open on Boxing Day (they aren't) but that should tell you something!

We have been several times and are never disappointed. Service is friendly and speedy. The food is literally mouth-watering! Good value for money. We can highly recommend. Infact , I think we might try a China Moon takeaway tonight.

I am absolutely disgusted with the meal and the service that I have been offered tonight. The attitude of the staff was disrespectful and the quality of the food was very very poor. They didn't approach our table for about 15 minutes and then eventually asked us for drinks. We then had to wait another 30 minutes before being served 3 bowls of rice. 15 minutes later and we then had our main courses brought our which by now our rice was cold. The main courses were very minimal and didn't feed more than about 3 people. After then complaining to the manager at the end there was no sympathy given and there was no apology at all. The response from our fair complaint was not taken into consideration what so ever and the manager was very rude when answering us. I will not be visiting that place again and would not advise anybody to either.

Love the food at the China moon well worth the drive out of Retford, only dinned inside the restaurant (usually have take-aways) once however it was a lovely experience. Nice decor and lovely staff however some of the staff's English is weak which after a few drinks is a little taxxing. Highly recommend

Food was very poor nothing was fresh soft drinks was flat restaurant was cold and the lady that worked behind the bar maybe the manager had a attitude problem with my 3 year old daughter constantly giving her evil looks for dropping rice or making noise also not cheap bill came to £30 for 1 main course and 2 drinks

I've eaten here a few times now with friends. It has never disappointed. It is worth mentioning, if you live locally, that the full menu is available as a takeout with a good discount.This is not a "curry shop" but rather a dining experience, best shared with a group of four or more. Little bit pricey, but as they say, you get what you pay for.

It is the first time we have eaten here but it won't be the last and extensive menu with set meals that you can change. I am dairy free and they catered for me very well. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was a quiet night for them but we were still able to eat at a nice steady pace the for was exceptional. Well done.

We have eaten here as a family for many years, the owner is superb with our children and always goes the extra mile to chat and fuss over them. They are hard working and proud of the food they serve, which is always excellent, best Cantonese around.

Having visited the China Moon a few times I can say this is one of the most pleasant eating places in and around retford. Attentive staff who are friendly and always make you welcome. The food is varied and always well presented and very very tasty. A great place for friends, family or couples to enjoy a meal in pleasant surroundings.

Food good service good but drinks were a real let down flat, warm and pricey. It is mentioned a lot as a problem but seems to have not been dealt with.

China Moon is the best ever Chinese restaurant that i have been to.Thestaff really look after you and will help you with the menu if needed.All food is etremely tasty.Very refreshig fuit served after your main course which is delicious.Well worth a visit, especially for a special occassion.Booking essential.

Visited with family, made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent. We had starters and these were delicious, spring rolls and ribs. Our mains were equally good and everything was served very hot and without a wait, even though there were quite a few tables in. Our children loved the carved animals made from vegetables, nice touch. The fruit with the dry ice is great also. The staff are very friendly. Would recommend a visit. It isn't cheap but well worth the extra.

We went here for a meal recently and the choice in the end for people in Retford is Fred's or the China moon. The food has been excellent at both on our last visits. The surroundings at China moon if I am honest are a little tired. We opted for a set meal - the Peking Banquet for around £20 pp. Well balanced and very good value we thought. Left feeling we had the right quantity of well presented and cooked dishes. Service was very good including the free jelly babies at the end. Will return.

The food here is good and service is efficient, restaurant is nicely laid out but food always seems expensive.
