Busy place,very spacious and Sky sports,good layout and massive outdoor screen,service good,food was average,Madras was tame? Fries were raw? Nans and rice were good Big car park

I ordered yesterday and they forgot to deliver something from my order but i didnt realise that day due to me going to work, I called the next day and explained to them the situation and they were very friendly and understanding and they sent me out my missing item even though it was a very busy day for them, I've been a regular for a while but I am very impressed in there desire to please and the understanding they showed me. As well as that the food is amazing, good portions and very tasty. I'm not one to review unless I'm impressed and today the amount of understanding they had made just have to review.

We enjoyed the Set Menu for 2, great value! The food arrived promptly in about 25 minutes, piping hot. The Szechuan pork had a subtle kick, the beef in black bean sauce was unreal with tender meat and lovely peppers, and the sweet and sour chicken was amazing. The Prawn balls were excellent, light and crispy – a fantastic takeaway! Highly recommend, despite some poor reviews.

The food was amazing! The order was taken by a really polite and friendly man. It was delivered on time. fresh, hot and really tasty. I would highly recommend the Golden Gate Crispy mixed starter and the beef in black bean is excellent too. Thank you for your service tonight

The only thing worse than the disgusting dish they sent was their customer service! Ordered crispy shredded beef, and they automatically sent this horrible salt and pepper shredded beef. Apparently by "default" all their dishes come without ANY sauce and you have go out of your way to specify if you want any sauce. For example, in my case I should have went out of my way to say I want peking sauce rather than them asking whether I want it dry when I was ordering. I have made this order from at least 5 chinese takeaways, and I am never asked to spell out everything e.g. can you fry the egg fried rice. When I called to explain that no one asked whether I wanted it dry or with sauce, they said "well....I'm not a mind reader", and they were very rude and dismissive....borderline shouting. To add insult to injury the dish tasted disgusting, as many people have wrote on here. Save your money....

Food is amazing, always hot when it arrives portions are fantastic. Partner always orders a steak and it’s cooked perfectly. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for Chinese

Ordered food only half came took 40 mins to bring rest all cold phoned and complained was told (it was my fault) so I said I wouldn't order from there again.and the woman said ' please yourself ' don't know how they stay open.have now found a new place to order from

We all ate 2-3 chicken balls each before realising they were raw, including my pregnant friend. Called up was offered £6 refund for the balls with not much of an apology. Called back & said actually I don’t think £6 off a £42 Chinese is good enough when we have all been exposed to salmonella & potential food poisoning. Myself and family are very regular customers for about 10 years & I was told no they wouldn’t give me anymore refund, was argued with, hardly apologised to & was HUNG UP on. Disgraceful. Very upset.

Absolutely disgusting! £35 straight in the bin, bbq sauce was tasteless, everything tasted burnt, the only thing with any taste was the curry which tasted of vinegar! The only reason iv left 1 star is cuz its the minimum. Its cash only which they dont tell you when ordering. Dont bother ordering, save your money or go elsewhere!!

Usually good ratio veg to meat but we ordered the chicken satay dish. It had more veg than chicken.

We have always had our food from the Golden Gate and its always been amazing. Tonight no words it tasted like a box of salt had been put into the curry unedible went straight in the bin. Rang and put in a complaint.

You ask for food too your recommendation ordered three times and three times it was wrong they need too listen what people want ordered tonight very disappointed yet again won't be ordering again

Golden gate has gone right downhill, 3rd time now my order has been wrong which ruins our whole meal time, to then be told got no drivers come and fetch missing items, I have drove there once to collect it is not on me to drive to you again when the rest of my food will be stone cold by time I get back, very poor service and food has started going down in quality too now so time for a change as I wont be back now so shame on you golden gate as at one time you was very good

Waited for over an hour for order and it’s still not delivered, when I phoned them up asking for delivery update they informed me that I could cancel if I wanted or wait at least another 30-40 minutes, I was a regular customer.

My address is WV12 Coppice Farm Estate, a regular customer. Ordered a £30.00+ meal for delivery at opening time 17.00hrs, recontacted them at 17.55hrs to be told out for delivery finally arrived at 18.15hrs, food was so could it all had to be microwaved and even then most of it was thrown away. Contacted them to tell them of issues to be given the reason/excuse that they went really busy (straight on opening time?). Unfortunately this isn't the 1st time but I believe everyone deserves a 2nd chance, they've had it. Only got 1 star because I couldn't leave a review on none.

Salt & Pepper shredded chicken, Imagine getting lost in a desert for days no water, mouth dry to find some overcooked chicken strips, dry as the sand, no taste & no sauce. Box of mixed starters, spring rolls overcooked & all broken apart, bbq ribs just like the chicken, Wings the same, egg fried rice(no egg) just rice in soy sauce. Never again disgusting food

Food was late by 40 minutes when it arrived it was cold really disappointing

I've no idea how this place has traded for so long. The people in the area must not have any sense of taste, to not notice the obvious aftertaste of old/dirty oil, on the limp soggy chips. Ate 3 chips and chucked the rest to the dogs. Hopefully they'll still be alive in the morning

Fab food everytime my number 1 place for take away food

Been a customer here since it opened,always lovely food until recently. Chips are scraps,boiled rice isn't fluffy anymore its very sticky,special curry isn't its normal colour,very watery. Special chow mein is lacking in colour very pale Onion rings are brand and colourless Very disappointed as its our local one and never been elsewhere. Unfortunately we will be definitely going to try another Chinese as this is happening on every occasion.

Appalling service ,waited nearly 2hour still no delivery, called them i was then told it was on the way to the house.30 mins later still no sign i rang them cancelled the order and ordered from another chineese and it was delivered in half hour. This meant I was eating my tea nearly 8pm instead of five , I would never use this place again appalling, no professionalism to run a business ,poor customer care.

We have ordered numerous times from this Chinese over the years, over 11 years to be precise, never disappointed. During lockdown we have tried others, also due to the fact that this Chinese is not on just eat etc, convenience and all that. I decided today to order from website and allocated our time to deliver. They did not disappoint. The food arrived piping hot, and I have to say, we have missed you. The food is amazing, thankyou very much. I will not be ordering from anywhere else ever again.

We previously used a different chinese takeaway, but when the first lockdown hit our previous Chinese was not open, so we had to go elsewhere. We used Golden Gate and...... WOW amazing food, fantastic customer service and quick as well. Have not used delivery from them as I always collect but heard it is just as quick. 5/5

Awful. Food went on the bin. Usually have nice food from here but today was terrible. Basically a plate of batter as couldn't see any pork in it, prawn toast as oily as fried bread, chips stale & cold. Don't know what's changed but won't be going there again. Waste of money.

Tried Golden gate last night after waiting months for my favourite restaurant to reopen and finding out it wasn't opening. The food was great we had chicken yuk sung, satay chicken skewers, pancake rolls, chicken in chilli and garlic sauce.. It's was all delicious and so much of it I had enough for leftover tea tonight... Highly recommended.

Waited 2 hours for food. And delivered cold. Tried again a few days later. Made a mistake with order (my fault) called straight bk on redial and was told food had already left shop. It hadn't. . Won't be ordering again . Cancelled whole order.

Gave me wrong order and when I called to tell them the gentleman I called thought it was funny and laughed down the phone.Even though I told him I couldn't drive he asked if I wanted to go and collect another or wait for over an hour for it to be delivered.Exceptional customer service not!!!

Collect a curry dish with chips drove home which is only round the corner and found wen I had the chips they were hard and tasted like cardboard I should have known better as I have had chips from here before sum time ago and they were the same, thought the first time wos just a one off will never ever go there again they must think we’re stupid selling pre heated chips made me feel sick so threw the lot away

Must admit I had had mixed reviews of the Golden Gate (formerly the Gate pub) and it was my friend that talked me into going for a sit down meal. The food and service were really good and I had no problems. The selection was on par with other chinese restaurants and the service was quick, we didn't have to wait long at all for our food. *Update* You can order food to go, online (through bigfoodie.co.uk), over the phone or in person.

Rang up to check if the chilli ribs and the chilli wings were dry as I don't like wet spice to which I was told yes which is why I ordered from here not the best surprise when it arrived and both soaked with what I can only presume to be a cheap brown sauce, I rang to try and rectify the situation and the person the other end of the phone couldn't comprehend what the issue was after 5 minutes finally figured out what was going on and demanded the unwanted items swapped for the replacement which wasn't a problem ask I clearly wasn't going to eat them 1 hour and 10 minutes later they finally arrive after every 1 has eaten and on their way home and I'm sat with substandard food

I have been a regular customer for 12 years with only one problem before being I found a hair in my food, i took the food back and was cooked a fresh meal there and then with the full refund as a good will gesture as this had spoilt our family meal. So last night I ordered online at 6.40pm to not receive my order until 8.10pm then to find my order was all wrong. I rung the takeaway who then retook my order and sent it back out. I bagged up the incorrect order and waited until 9.10pm for my meal. I found that the order was wrong again. I called back and they couldn't do anything about this and the manager was going to call me at 10pm and what I was told by front desk they were to add comment on their system to have our next meal of that value £15 complimentary next time which was also reiterated by the delivery driver. I waited and no phone call. I have rung again this eveing to be told i can't talk to the manager as there is a language barrier, when I could clearly hear him in background to then be more or less told I was lying as they sent driver out with refund. I wouldn't waste my time and effort trying to get their customer service if I had it dealt with in first place. I am still awaiting a call to resolve this as 2 and half hours last night and poor customer service yeterday and today had left me fuming to say the least. Me, my friends and my family will never go back here again as the way I have been cast aside once they had the money was disgusting. I gave 4 chances to rectify this matter but with no positive outcome.

Placed a order along with chips and missed them off. Delivery driver then tells me I give a fake £20 note when I just got it out of a cash point today checked it over in the house it's fine!! Then to top it off I phoned the place up to question about my chips and was told i never ordered them and to say the driver accussed me of giving him fake money. Also the worst is I apparently give my old address to deliver it to and why on earth would I do that for!! Idiot!! Food doesn't taste that good either and now cold!! Would never recommend this place at all and I will be telling all the ones I know who eat from here about this experience!

Disgusting. Every single time I've ordered from. Doesn't matter what day of the week the chips are always stale and rock hard. I wouldn't even feed them to an animal. I bet the chef wouldn't eat them himself. Avoid

Chips were rock hard and weren't freshly cooked. Curry was tasty but on the whole it wasn't even Luke warm. Very disappointed as we've used the golden gate for years

Where to start. Used this takeaway for years since moving into the area, it used to be a nice treat. Food always used to taste great and rarely had any complaints but recently it's gone downhill. Not sure if they've changed hands over the last 12 months but the last 4 times we have had food from here I've been very disappointed. Fried rice has been very greasy and almost concealed as if re-cooked when ordering, the prawns in the curry weren't cooked enough and very slimey. They were the same in a mixed dish we had, which also had duck, chicken and pork in - all VERY dry, fatty and inedible really. I couldn't tell what meat was what - very bizarre experience - it was as though the cheapest cuts of meat have been used, cooked then recooked a dozen times. Someone in our group also had an omlette which they said was way too salty and in the end it went in the bin. Pains me to say after so many years of loyal custom but I will not be returning again. These business' need to realise that they aren't replaceable and by serving rubbish people will go elsewhere. Sorry Golden Gate.

rude staff wrong order but were arguing in chinese to each other wouldnt listen to me at all will never go there again

Very sorry but bought some fried onions and chips ,the fried onions were excellent BUT the chips were SHOCKING as hard as bullets this spoilt the meal.I would like to advise the owner of the business please sort this problem out and listen to your customers chips should be SOFT .i dont think i shall be coming back sorry.

Super fast delivery everytime and the food is always very hot and fresh. We normally order things off the menu but change them slightly from the normal and they always get the order right. The only place I'll use for Chinese food.

Ordered for 1st time Meat was dry. Ordered chicken dish - which contained prawns pork and some chicken rang up and was advised that this was the correct meal??? Will not use again.

Great quality food made with fresh ingredients, polite staff (over the phone, ordering at the premiss and at the door when delivered). Thats why keep on going back to the Golden Gate.

Nasty food and no people skills

Llamé por teléfono a mi orden en 8 10 limón patatas costillas de pollo y champiñones con mantequilla de repuesto aros de cebolla. Todo bien por ahora 8 50 llamó para ver mi pedido. Me dijeron que era con el conductor estar allí de inmediato. Conductor 9 05 llegó finalmente dijo que tenía sólo ha dado la orden de uno y otro. Abrió la bolsa de patatas fritas costillas estaban bien como estaban empapados de coca cola y los aros de cebolla y las setas. La mayoría terminó arrojando lejos de pérdida de 18 libras a utilizar este lugar de nuevo todo lo que voy a decir es su dinero y estoy en otro lugar absolutamente basura

Ha de tener para llevar chino en y fuera del Golden Gate por aproximadamente 7 años, debo decir que nunca he tenido una China como repugnante porque tuve anoche. Pedí el pato asado en salsa de ciruela y conseguimos pato en una salsa que maltratada solo sabía a vinagre. No tienes idea de lo que era, pero no era salsa que era para ciruela seguro. Me la llevé y la señorita era algo grosero, nunca se disculpó ni nada. Ella comenzó a tratar con algo más parte a través de nuestra conversación y luego nos ignoraron. Fue el conductor de la entrega que era el más disculpas y dije que me ayude. Absolutamente horrible, nunca más.

Been here a couple of times. Food is acceptable in the evening but at lunch times it just seems to be a poor mans eating place - not much choice and not much of it.

I went here to order what i thought would be a strait forward take away meal it was anything but strait forward. I placed my order before another couple only to be told after they recieved there meal that they thought i wanted it deliverd to my house i looked at the woman and replied to her by saying why would i be standing here waiting for my meal if i wanted it delivered to my house then i saw her take my order ticket into the so called chef this was after waiting 25mins then i had to wait another 20 mins for my meal to be cooked no apology no nothing. And to top it all off she handed me my meal and said thats £7.40. At this stage i was about to tell her were to go. But i kept my cool and told her i had already paid for my meal when she took my order again another error and again no apology. well as for the meal it was tastless and the fried rice was all dry. i will not be going back to this absolutly discusting place again and if you look at my other reviews a place has to be bad for me to give such a horrible review Would i return NO i wouldent 0/10 think yourselfs lucky it is a minus score.
