China Garden in Merton

This is the second time I have had food from China Garden. The first, was an all you can eat, dine in. This, was a takeaway for 2 people. We were both craving a carb filled treat but were not satisfied… To keep with the veggie Jan them3, We ordered: Prawn balls - more like tempura prawns (very small) Veggie chowmein - steady Egg fried rice - steady Chips - soggy and a very small portion Satay sauce - steady Curry sauce - weak and uninspiring Overall, this whole meal was bland and not up to what I was expecting. Such a shame as my previous dine in here was great !!

It was delicious, the staff very friendly and helpful. The decoration could be a little bit more loving.

Set price per adult of under £25, covering a wide range of favourites. Fast service and tasty food. Staff are friendly too. Drinks aren’t included in set price, but have a range of wines, beers and soft drinks available.

We use this restaurant at least 7 times a year for Birthdays and for team meals. The staff are so friendly and the food is pleanti9and delicious. We are all looking forward to being able to go back this year.

Food was great and well priced. The restaurant would do better if they played music during the night. We were majorly put off by a family of 2 men and 1 elderly woman with a child about 6 years old who urinated and did something else in a potty in the middle of the restaurant. Absolutely disgusting but not the staff or restaurants fault.

Love this place. However it’s really annoying they don’t advertise when it’s closed. Twice we have been waiting outside a big group of us and they come To the door and say it’s closed today. Even if they put it on the door. But food is great

We showed up at this restaurant as my brother (the birthday boy) had seen online that they did a Sunday Buffett. Initially we were surprised as the place was empty and we weren’t sure it was open but it was and we had a lovely meal. Nice fresh buffet , all cooked to order , crispy food, lovely Peking duck. Smooth house wine and excellent service . Such a shame that this restaurant isn’t more used by local folk. Lovely token when they brought my brother a birthday dessert for us all to share.

Bought a take away whilst my kitchen is being refurbed and found a hair. First and last time I’ll go because when I took it back they said it wasn’t theirs. It was short and black and I certainly don’t have that kind of hair!

On my birthday, my partner & I were taken here by my Father. He'd booked a table & had intended to use the buffet menu, but as we weren't offered it, only the "regular" 1 we assumed it wasn't available on a Saturday evening. So we chose to have the "Set 2, for 3 people" (various set menus to be chosen from for a minimum of 2 people) as I tend to order the "classics", my partner isn't over keen on Chinese & my Dad likes to "experiment". We chose that option as my bloke had tried "Mongolian style lamb" the day before, enjoyed it & that was on this list. The rest of the meal was fairly standard stuff for a "Classic" Chinese, but the lamb was really interesting. It was served between starters & mains, & shredded, a bit like the duck with pancakes, but you were given whole, fresh, lettuce leaves to wrap it in. Not a concept I'd come across before. The other thing that took me slightly aback was when my bloke asked for a jug of tap water for the table we were each brought a (pepsi) glass full instead. The meal was fair quality for a fair price (according to Dad) but the 10% service was added automatically, which he wasn't impressed with. But he's not sure whether you could ask for it to be removed if you'd had a really bad time. We doggy bagged the leftovers & had them for supper 2 days later(yes, there was that much left)

Great food. Arrived quickly. The chicken balls were excellent with plenty of chicken. Totally recommended.

Could do with a lick of paint and new loo's but none of that really matters because the food is fantastic. Eat as much as you like, £20 on some nights and £15 on others. Last night we chowed down on every starter on the menu, followed by the duck, we were so full we didn't have room for a main course. The best garlic butter prawns, deep fried squid and lightly dusted deep fried green beans. Really good value, superb food and a friendly service. Can't wait to go back....mouth watering as I type There is parking right outside the restaurant and a car park 2 minutes around the corner

My partner & I were in Morden & decided on the spur of the moment to dine out. After much codgitation we agreed on the China Garden as a new experience. They offer a set price - eat-as-much-as-you-want, but not buffet style, each dish would be cooked to order & served to your table We had a lovely meal, I had 2 starters, soup, veggy noodles & meat-w-sauce. My partner had 3 starters, rice & meat-w-sauce. We also shared a duck-pancakes. The staff were all courteous & smooth footed. There was a large family party as well as 2 other tables & yet we didn't feel at all like they were hurrying us. We're looking forward to doing it again soon.

We ordered a take away for 4 people, quoted 40 minutes for delivery and it came within the given time. It was hot and we all enjoyed it, the portion size are good and value for money, I would defiantly order again.

Despite the dubious reviews of others on here I was cautious about dining here however I found the experience excellent - service was very prompt,very friendly and polite- we ordered a set menu and added soup - it was delicious not one complaint for me or my partner - may visit again during my short stay.

It seems this place has gone to the dogs. Ordered twice recently now and each time delivered cold unappetizing food. Curry didn't even come with rice and they didn't tell that to me on the phone when I ordered. Also promised some prawn crackers that never arrived. Joke of a place and staff actually don't care I found. Very expensive for small portions. Ignorance is the only reason why I suspect people still go here. Tries twice as it USED to be good. I suspect different owner now..

Food okay, service a bit slow on my visit but were short staffed. Duck and pancakes were lovely could have had more.

We ate here some years ago and wanted to treat a friend for her birthday so booked at China Garden with a table for four of us. Very hot outside and the only fan was switched off as it was rattling so very warm inside too.

Two starters and a main course for lunch at less than £8.00! Not only good value but great food! My favourites are the spicy chicken starters plus honey spare ribs followed by Singapore noodles. And the deinks are all good value too!

If you are looking for a great all you can eat Chinese buffet then look no further. China Garden Morden...

Absolutely freezing it's like sitting in a freezer and full of dust not verry clean will not b going again it's colder in the shop more than out side

Very friendly service. The first time we visited we were just about full up after the starters! We now skip the starters and order just one main dish per person.

New menu launched and they have removed the 10% discount for collection - everything just got more expensive for a Sat evening takeaway. Not the usual warm welcome either?? New Set menu portions are large - perhaps too large?

Been using this restaurant for years. It's seen a change of staff over the years but always friendly in my experience. Generally food is always of good quality and no missed items; not saying it never happens but very rare. Good menu choice. My experience is of the takeaway although we have dined in on a few occasions. Reasonable pricing.

We always order from here and for a few times we have they have got the order wrong 4-5 times and when we ring to tell them we then have to wait another 40 mins to get it all again!!!!

Very nice Chinese takeaway. Ample menu, good service and reasonable price. Rice could be better and portions a bit bigger. But, all in all a good place

We have ordered three times with them and on each time they have got meals wrong. And when you ring them up and say there is no sorry there is no rush to try and get the food out to you. When they take your order they are to busy rushing everything through. So I will not be using them again now. Such a shame as it was good at one point !

Added 25 minutes to an already 40 minutes wait time, and then was 25 minutes late on top. Phoned up to ask when or if the food was coming, got a very uninterested, matter of fact reply that it was on its way, just have to wait. Can't really comment on food quality as it may have been nice if it had been hot. Didn't enjoy at all.

We have been back to the China Garden many times and will certainly return again in the future. The food is good and the service is with a smile.

The food is usually better than this. The Thai green curry very cloggy and thick- not the fresh, light, flavourful curry it is meant to be. Special chow mien was very dry, and the ribs shrivelled and overlooked. The chicken satay was generous and spicy, and the prawn crackers light and not oily which was a lovely free addition and much appreciated.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT!!! Waited over an hr for our food.. then when it came there was 6!! Short BLACK HAIRS in our beef chow mien.. absolutely disgusting. Didn't eat any of it... phoned up to complain and get my money back and all they kept saying was are u sure?? Absolute disgrace!!

Had lamb pancakes and salted chilli ribs. Both were tasty, the crispy lamb was a bit too crispy and seemed quite fatty. Arrived quickly, about 10 minutes earlier than expected. Would use again.

It was ok but the shredded beef was more onions than beef and quite chewy overall it wasn't that tasty unfortunately

They were here 20 minutes early which was lovely! They gave us free food as a thank you for ordering above the minimum delivery amount

Driver was bit of a grumpy so and so and we didn't get prawn crackers which defo upset the youngsters 😂 but honestly food was lovely-especially crispy wontons and beef in oyster sauce would use again without hesitation

Fantastic food as always. It's just a shame about the delivery driver. He was very rude and this is the 2nd time he has come to my house with a total attitude and I do not expect that from someone delivering my food. Please review your delivery staff or I may start to order elsewhere, which would be a shame as I love the food.

Food is good and the East as Much as you Like menu is reasonably good value at £18.95 per head (we do eat a lot). Wine is reasonably priced. However, the place is very tired now, even threadbare in places. The service left a lot to be desired, especially when we were the only table left. More attention was paid to cell phones and chatting to family members who, it seemed, were itching to sit down for their evening meal. The corner table was reserved for their kindergarten. These days it’s fine for a quick meal but it’s not really a night out venue any more, I feel.

Spicy spare ribs were so small... Bit disappointing and the chicken in black bean sauce is getting smaller week by week.... Not sure what has changed :-(... We will see

An hour and a half since i placed the order to be told the driver is downstairs. Went downstairs and no driver. This went on for 10 mins with the driver calling the chinese rather than me and then passing on the message. Decided after 10 mins of hearing excuses that the driver was outside i cancelled and ordered somewhere else. If the driver cant find you...why cant he call me direct instead of calling the chinese each time to pass on the message. Jokers!!

The set price is a bit of a con. There's no way you can eat enough to make it worthwhile. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but the service can be a bit hit and miss on busy nights.

Ordered afew times from here and must say very dissapointed this time, special fried rice was lacking in all ingredients and just like boiled rice. Crispy chilli beef has way to much onion&veg in it.

Food was OK, but we got wrong dish. We asked for it to come at a certain time as travelling home, but it was early. Very rude driver tried to charge us.

Ordered duck with plum sauce but got pineapple instead. Otherwise it was really good and very quick delivery time.

We have visited this local restaurant on numerous occasions and always find that we receive good food and a friendly service. Restaurant is somewhat dated in appearance, but this does not detract from our overall good opinion of this restaurant. Parking available outside the restaurant after 7pm.

Awful. So much grease I expected John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John to pop out the container and do a number. Crispy beef was as about as crispy as a packet of Walkers you left in the back of the cupboard in 1992 and opened expecting something. More oil overall than the U.S has leeched from the Middle East since the early 90's. Not a fan!

Good Food, Tasty, Crispy in the right places. They didnt look at the special notes as my order said "no prawns", how ever the kind lady sent out a fresh batch of rice and chow mein, so excellent service. Would recommend, just order by phone ;)

Really dissapointed today. Always use china garden, usually lovely however today not only did they not look at the allergy notes (ordered no veg or beanshoots in chow mein as i always do and there is always the odd time they dont look which means spending half hour picking through my noodles) but today the food was not hot when it arrived and not crispy. Not a great meal in all honesty.
