Unusual to find a Chinese restaurant with this quality outside a big city. The owner worked in one of the best Chinese in Manchester which explains why it is so good.

We’ve been to China Cottage many times, it hasn’t changed for years, to be honest it could do with a bit of a spruce up, but the food is always good. The Sunday buffet is excellent value, freshly cooked and tastes delicious. We’ll definitely be going back

Let down by the newly re-opened China Buffet in nearby Bury - apparently it is no longer a serve-yourself buffet; but you now get table service and MUST order by smartphone app. None of our party had a working phone with them, so we were turned away. Great welcome at China Cottage where we turned up on spec. Excellent food, piping hot, strongly recommend the mixed Dim Sum starter selection, good sized portions and nothing is too much trouble. Will return soon.

Visited on Sunday evening for dinner with friends. We chose the al la carte menu as opposed to the cheaper Sunday set menu. Dim sum combination starters were good but the main meals were not as good as we have had previously. Service was slow and staff were not attentive. Also the restaurant is looking very tired and unclean. The staircase (we were sat upstairs) is really quite grubby and the chairs we sat on we all ripped and torn. Not pleasant at all. Sadly we won’t be returning.

Dined alone in an empty restaurant. Duck was lovely, and large prawns in chow mein. Unfortunately the rest of the chow mein was gooey and too wet. Also, the staff decided to bag all the prawn crackers in the restaurant so the entire time I was there all I could hear was very load plastic bag scrunching and rustling and the kitchen door banging and squeaking every time they went in and out, which was a lot for an empty restaurant! I eventually asked for my food to be takeaway as i wasn't enjoying all the noise. Also my 3 dishes and soft drink came to over £40, for 1 person! Wouldn't return unfortunately.

Visited as a family for the Sunday banquet. We have been going for many years but felt the food had gone downhill. The Dim Sum was very bland and we didn’t order any seconds of the mains. Leo is fantastic and very welcoming as was the other younger male serving us but the lady with the pony tail is very sullen and not what you’d expect at ChinaCottage (though she has been there years) The price has dramatically increased which I can understand based on ingredients costs and lockdown but the drinks are quite expensive

Good food attentive staff good atmosphere the only downside was both the desert that we ordered had sold out but will still return.

We dropped in here as we suddenly found ourselves with a spare couple of hours. China Cottage is highly rated locally so we thought we'd give a sit down meal a go rather than a takeaway. Service was great, efficient but not over bearing, you could have you meal as you wanted. The food was pipping hot and well presented. This food is British Chinese its as Chinese as a Chicken Tikka Masala is Indian, but thats a given. In all honesty I found the food bland and under seasoned. Not something you often say about Chinese food. Its clearly mostly bought in pre preped and cooked off. Again like most Chinese food. The portions were on the small side. That said the prices were fair. It was pleasant but I've had better and I don't think it is as good as the hype. If getting a takeaway id drive the extra 5 miles for better.

Had visited this restaurant in the past. Dropped in on speck as was passing. Had a really tasty and nice meal. The staff were very pleasant and attentive to our needs. Will definitely be visiting again.

A family party of 8 for my 88yr old mum birthday bash, including a 4 and 6 yr old. We were well seated on the ground floor. The food and staff were excellent. Sunday buffet great value. They surprised mum with a birthday cake supplied by us but they gave us containers to take it away portiond as we were far too full to eat any if it! We had a lovely visit. Thank you everyone. 😊

We decided to go here for a birthday meal and I have to say, I’m glad we chose to eat here.The staff were very welcoming and were prompt, even though it was busy. They seated us quickly, gave us the menus fast and we had enough time to choose something and order it.(I have to say, there is a large range of food to choose from, including a vegetarian range).We went for a duck pancake starter, as well as marinated chicken skewers (teriyaki sauce) and marinated chicken (mango sauce). They were all very appetising, and these were also served promptly. As a main, I went for the chicken chow mien. They were all very big portions so we decided to take the leftovers we had home to eat on a later day. There were side bowls to eat from, so we could all share what we had ordered. The atmosphere was great too. Very neatly dressed tables with folded napkins, knives and forks and chopsticks. So I recommend this place in the picturesque town of Ramsbottom.Thanks China Cottage. Leo is the perfect host whether eating in or ordering a takeaway.Saturday night we had a selection of his dishes.Soups,spare ribs,spring rolls and then fillet steak Cantonese style,beef satay,chicken sweet and sour plus rice at less than £40 for 4 of us.Almost perfect but for Cantonese sauce being a touch thin.Chinatown quality food at takeaway price.Top class

Having read the previous reviews I was sorry not to be able to agree. We should have known something was wrong when we were able to get a table in a half empty restaurant; usually it is packed. The starter was just awful and the main meal of beef was pure gristle. The toilets were filthy and the staff more interested in taking selfies than serving food. Definitely won't return. Never once asked our meal was okay?

Usually a pleasure to visit but a bit let down with the food particularly the starter which appeared to have been re heated Maybe this was a one off as the place was very busy

Went for my 30th as a large group of 19 people. Luckily we had the whole upstairs to ourselves. Sunday Buffet is amazing, they bring it to you. You have as much as you want of each course and then move on to the next. Lovely staff, lovely decor. Great price in a great location! Accommodated our large group with no issues, even allowed us to give names for seperate drink orders instead of bulking it onto one bill. Will be back over and over, it's just great!

Following a shopping trip at the Trafford Centre I decided to brave the very heavy rain of storm Eleanor to head to Ramsbottom and the China Cottage and I am so glad I did. The warm welcome and uncluttered tasteful decor which included lovely starched linen table clothes and napkins was the perfect start to what was a perfect meal. I really can’t fault any of the dishes I had and I sampled a great many: fried squid, ribs, lettuce wrapped minced chicken with hoisin sauce, butterfly king prawns in sweet and sour sauce, scallops with ginger served in their shell all for starters, then ......sea bass with ginger, special chowmein, crispy chilli beef, bamboo and water chestnuts and then a wonderful chocolate soufflé. If I had to pick a favourite then the sea bass which was presented whole and was filleted at the table would just make it. All in all a wonderful relaxed experience that I have paid twice as much for in larger towns or cities.

The food was superb as always. My husband isn't keen on fish but his favourite dish of the night was the Seabass.

Best Chinese around by far. Great service and friendly atmosphere. We visit quite often and also get the occasionally take away.

I am a frequent visitor to the China Cottage and am always made welcome upon arrival by Leo who makes an effort to meet and greet all of his guest making everyone feel as if they are his personal friend. The Staff are very attentive and always willing to offer advise about the menu if you have any questions. The food itself is excellent and consistantly of a very high quality and well presented. The Sunday Buffet menu is excellent value with a wide choice of set meals available with each as much as you like policy. This is a must visit restaurant and is always at the top of my list for an evening out and a meal.

Went for the Sunday buffet today 05-11-17 as a group of 4 adults, we have been on 6 occasions after discovering this little gem. Read an earlier review before we went, don't know why, I guess it's just to see that their high standards are being kept up, obviously shocked to read the review. Decided to go anyhow, so glad we did. We had fabulous food in spotlessly clean surroundings at an excellent price, all four of us really enjoyed our meal. Me and my family have eaten at China Cottage since it opened. This is my 3rd review over the years. Always loved it, I cannot tell you how many meals we have had from here, at least once a week for years and years.

I ate hear with 3 friends and I recommend booking. It is busy and I am not suprised because the food is delicious.

This was a last minute decision booking and we were lucky to get a table. We had the Royal Chinese Banquet and it was excellent. We've had this before and it never fails to impress. Delicious. The staff are very friendly and it's a lovely atmosphere.

Sunday afternoon is all you can eat, but cooked fresh & brought to table. Soup, 3 dim Sun, Main meal, coffee & icecream. You can order more of each, but be careful not to over face yourself or you will ruin a fab lunch. The sweet & sour pork & chilli beef are the best I have ever tasted, My daughters favourite is the pork charsui. The staff are very friendly & attentive. Normally 8 of us go and share off the lazy susan.

Pedimos comida para llevar anoche por primera vez en meses y he de confesar la sal y la pimienta eran francamente horrible fichas/empapadas con mínimo y ningún parecido de aderezos sal y pimientos patatas fritas. También pedimos tres porciones del pescado frito en salsa negra chow mein bean que era increíblemente grasienta, con muy poca salsa de alubias negras - parecía más una sustancia aceitosa sin sabor. Como resultado de esta experiencia, lamento decir que no volveré en el futuro.

No impresionado por Casa China. Nos lo recomendó un amigo que dijo que el buffet era genial, pero fuimos un viernes por la noche desde el menú estándar y estamos muy impresionados. La comida era buena, el vino era promedio y la cerveza era pequeña para el precio. El restaurante es pequeño y está decorado tremendamente (tan anticuada) y la camarera que nos servía era lamentable y volcamos la mirada en nosotros cuando pedimos un par de minutos más para elegir en el menú enorme. Mi pareja también nos gustaría que nos pareció ID era ridículo porque estamos a mediados de los años 20 y apenas mirar peligroso o irresponsables. La mayoría de los restaurantes son permisivos y no te hacen sentir avergonzado tan pronto como llegue. No me gustaría Y ESTOY ID me alegro no porque si hubiera tenido que haber hecho habría dejado y cancelamos nuestra reserva. La comida llegó en menos de 3 minutos de pedir y el menú de postres era un pedazo de papel que estaba asqueroso con manchas de humedad. También había música un grupo de mujeres cantando y gritando de arriba. Si la comida era peor que yo era poner este comentario como 'Terrible'. Había un montón de pedidos para llevar mientras estábamos allí, así que quizás la comida para llevar es una mejor experiencia? No lo recomendaría.

Mi esposa y yo visitamos la Casita China por recomendación de un miembro de la familia.

Hace poco visitamos la Casita China para una noche durante la semana. El lugar siempre está excepcionalmente limpio, ropa de mesa, muy tranquila pero eficiente personal especialmente Leo que es encantador y no agresivos. Pedimos una sopa caliente y amarga, pato, gambas tortitas con dulce y amarga y el chef plato especial de cordero. Todo estaba delicioso, caliente, bien presentada y servida con el mínimo alboroto. Este restaurante está limpio, agradable y la comida es excelente a un precio muy bueno. Altamente recomendado.

Fuimos a una tarde de martes y había seis de nosotros y nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. No habíamos reservado, aunque se llenaba más tarde, así que tuvimos suerte. La comida era excelente y un menú muy amplia y extensa. Tenemos la intención de volver.

Precioso entrante caliente y sopa amarga pero tenía las lonchas de ternera con pimiento verde y salsa de alubias negras como comida principal y algunos de la carne estaba un poco grasos y hacer que no gusta. El servicio era bueno y es un buen lugar. En general, 7 / 10.

Me pregunto dónde ir para una comida familiar el domingo de Pascua, y decidí llamar a casa China véase A. Si se abrió.. Si tenían espacio C. Si aún estaban sirviendo su buffet de domingo. La respuesta a todas las preguntas fue afirmativa, así que reservé una mesa para 8 personas. Al llegar notamos que el restaurante ha tenido una. . Una decoración encantadora y fresca.. Nos llevaron a nuestra mesa que había establecido con ropa blanca y adecuada las servilletas. El buffet consta de sopa de pollo y maíz dulce, dim sum, elección de principal, helados y café, todo por 8 libras. 99. Todo es servicio de camarero, te traen la sopa, una vez desaparecido, pregunte si quieres más. . No, lo que nos subió a bandejas de dim sum. Este consistía en rollitos de primavera, kebabs, costillas y crujiente de arroz. Una vez comido me trajo otra bandeja. Tras esta es la principal, tuve de pollo en salsa de frijol negro, otras tenían cerdo dulce y amarga, picante de carne y verduras y carne, había otras opciones. Tienes una opción de arroz o fideos y pedimos tanto entre nosotros. Después de esto se le pregunte si quiere otro principal, 4 de nuestro grupo hizo. . Sin cargo extra!. Por supuesto final es helado y café. Muy completo en el final de la comida. Absolutamente delicioso. El servicio era bueno. . No hay largas esperas entre. campos. Bebidas, sólo botellas de cerveza sirve así funcionar muy caro 3 libras. 30 una botella. Sin duda reservar de nuevo. No apareció como el domingo es ocupado por el buffet. . . . previamente concertados. Excelente comida, excelente relación calidad-precio!

Fue tratado por nuestra hija a un cena. Conociendo nuestra debilidad de comida china, nos llevó a este acogedor restaurante. Fue maravilloso, muy bien decorado en un estilo moderno. El servicio era muy bueno y la comida excelente. No había platos chinos tan bueno como este desde pasar ocho meses en el Lejano Oriente hace muchos años. Fueron muy amables al nuestra nieta de tres años.

Tuvimos una comida aquí de paso y el interior del restaurante está muy bien decorado. Sin embargo, es muy pequeño y tienden a mesas de cram en juntos. En un momento de la noche vi el camarero llevar rojo caliente de burbujas sartén comida. Él tenía que apretujarse entre 2 mesas que estaban cerca juntos él estaba tocando tanto como pasó. Si él había bajado la placa de al menos uno puede ser dos personas habrían sido mal quemados. Si el HSE llegó, sin cerca que hasta me quitaron algunas de las mesas. Dijo que aunque la comida era buena. No demasiado buena pero aceptable. Además de los puntos mencionados por el servicio fue rápido y eficiente. Medianamente razonable.

Asistimos un domingo por la tarde por la oferta de banquetes, éramos un grupo de 5. El personal era muy acogedor y vinieron rápido con la comida, fantástica en la reposición de lo que queríamos más. Cada plato era delicioso, y que sin duda conseguir una buena relación calidad-precio!

La comida es muy buena aquí teníamos una combinación dim sum y sum sum gambas albóndigas separada, albóndigas de carne todos los eran muy buenos. Para principal elegimos sizzling bistec y huevos fritos de arroz, que era preciosa. Aunque había mucha gente ya que era la noche de fin de año el personal era muy eficiente.
