Is China China still open? I went down there with a business friend two Saturday’s ago- peak evening time - and the restaurant was closed. I called the China China number just now and the message was Number Unobtainable. One of my favourite, fun restaurants in town. Hope it’s only a temporary closure.

My last meal here was very slightly below their usual standard, but I've had SO MANY great meals here at very affordable prices that I will still give them 5 stars. My favourite is sweet and sour fish, or prawns with ginger. Succulent prawns, fresh delicious vegetables. The service is outstanding, the only exception being when I was served by a gentlemen who looked as if he owned the place (he probably did), and treated my request to have egg fried rice instead of plain rice, but at less than the requested £4.50 for the upgrade, with contempt. You're wondering again why 5 stars? It's just so often so very good. Usually loads of choice for seating, when it's busy the other diners seem civilised oriental food enthusiasts, and you'll almost always leave feeling you've been to a little haven of tranquillity and value-for-money.

The menu is vast and terrifying containing elements of pig intestines, chicken heads etc. The fried rice wasn't, neither were the prawns. The waitress found English challenging at best and was unable to understand questions about the menu. Hence our stab in the dark choices. Prawn fried rice (it wasn't) and egg fried rice and Kung Po chicken. I had the ghandis revenge shortly after so money well spent - not.

The staff seem very friendly and the food was good, I had one Chinese beer, a chicken and sweet corn soup, chicken chow mein and a Chinese chicken curry. The food was good but not sure it was worth the price tag over over £31.00 but that is just my opinion and I know you pay more down south than in the midlands. I would recommend going as it is good food and they seem to attract locals which is always a good sign too.

Spontaneous visit as the Thai restaurant nearby that we had hoped to go to was closed! The menu is quite different to your average Chinese restaurant and felt more authentic (not that I'm an expert!). The wine list is "red or white" but they also do Chinese beer. The staff were really friendly and the food was delicious! I would happily go again.

Had a really nice meal here, soup starters, spare ribs, crispy chilli beef, enough fried rice to feed two, and topped up Chinese tea. Nothing too much trouble from the friendly staff. Will use again when in Brighton.

Ordered 2x whole roast ducks to find out there are MANY missing pieces (so it was NOT a whole roast duck) and chopped very poorly. Use to always get 2x whole roast ducks and this is the first time there have been missing pieces, very dry meat (not fresh) and just filling the tub to look like it’s full. Very disappointed for the price I paid and will not be returning.

Popped into here on the off chance as it used to be a great place to eat as China China. The prices are astronomical so we decided just to order 2 plain chicken chow mein and 1 egg fried rice and 3 cans of coke for the children to share. £31.50! With plastic plates. If I’d had known I would have gone to China garden at the end of the road. We definitely won’t be back. This used to be a Brighton institution, not anymore.

Having recently re-opened after lockdown, the management have decided to significantly increase prices, some by 50% or more. One of the dishes we used to like has suddenly become a “chef’s recommendation” and gone from £6.95 to £11.90. I’m not surprised the chef recommends it for that sort of money! Furthermore, you used to be able to swap the included rice for a more exotic accompaniment, such as egg fried rice or noodles, for a £2 charge. This option has now been removed, so if you want plain noodles with your dish, you’re looking at £4.50 on top of the recently-inflated prices. At the end of the day, you can now easily pay double for the same meal you enjoyed just a few months ago. The charm of this place was that they used to offer a varied menu of simple Chinese food, served in a no-nonsense environment at sensible prices. You can’t raise prices so dramatically, give people less choice, still serve up the same food on the same plastic plates and expect people not to feel like a once-great restaurant has fallen from grace. Let’s hope they see sense and go back to what once worked.

This was once my favourite restaurant and I guess lockdown has destroyed it plus they haven’t done themselves any favours. so of course the first thing you notice is new menu new higher prices then you see a downward spiral on quality of food and if it couldn’t get any better the food tasted awful in fact I could not eat mine it was that bad. So the outcome is they have definitely shot them selves in the foot and we will never be going back again , such a shame...

Food quality was horrendous. The portion sizes were near an empty plate and the price was ridiculous for the portion sizes. They also add extra charges onto the bill without notifying you, and when I questioned them they said the prices have changed from the menu but nowhere does it state that for proof. Wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

We went for an early dinner before going to a gig. Friendly staff, very quick and efficient. Food was good and very reasonably priced. We were surprised that there were no disabled toilet facilities as we had thought that this was a legal requirement? Also taken aback at the *cash only* policy, just managed to scrape together the cost of the bill, but didn’t have enough for a tip. Seems a bit odd in our *cashless society *! This place was clearly very popular with the local Asian population, very busy.

What drew us in initially was the fact that a lot of the local Chinese community were eating in there, which turned out to be a great indication of good food. I can't think of anything negative about the food. It's what you would expect from any Chinese or Cantonese restaurant. But maybe a bit better than the average one, in my opinion. Only things that didn't make it perfect was; 1) payment is cash only. So we had to waste 15 mins beforehand in finding an ATM. 2) the table surfaces were wooden and we're really sticky like they hadn't been wiped properly in ages. Like those you'd find in Nandos. But not a biggy just don't touch the surface! We would definitely go back again next time we visit Brighton and feel like a quick Chinese meal.

This is not a place for a romantic meal, but the food is great the service is with a smile. I love their har gau and aubergine with salt and chilli. Good value. Wine choice is limited to red or white.

We recently tried China China for a quick take away dinner. We got several kinds of noodles (Singapore were my fav) and everyone was very happy with the results. The spring rolls were also a huge hit!In addition, the service was fast and friendly. We may be trying this again before we leave Brighton!

This is where the local Chinese community eats that's how authentic this place is. The prices are fab for both food and drinks given that the 'posh Chinese restaurant' at the bottom of the street charged double !! The service is fab the cleanliness fab and the food sooo good ! We dined twice and if I was local would deffo be back..

We arrived in Brighton on the hottest day of the year, and therefore we didn't feel hungry until late. My girlfriend wanted a chinese and after suggestions by the recptionist at the hotel we walked to Preston Street and found this little gem.Eventhough they were shutting in 15minutes, the waiter welcome us and sat us down somewhere cool & breezy. He allowed us time to choose and when he came back with our dishes, he asked us politely whether we would want anything else as it was last order. The food was decent and very authentic, good portion size and great value for money. We left happy and we went back for dimsum lunch the next day, and was greeted like an old friend! Well done and thank you!

I vaguely remembered coming here some years back and vaguely remembered it being good. Either the memory was faulty or it has slipped considerably. On the positive side, the people working there are very nice and the appetizer--a roast duck with pancakes and hoisin--was acceptable. But oh my the Szchuan dry chicken with whole peppers was soggy and awful. The meat was not really recognizable as chicken--something with a texture between fish and tofu. Nasty. I paid and got out as soon as I could.

Maybe im being nostalgic about the earlier days of this restaurant but the last few meals Ive had here are, in my opinion, have beenl less than acceptable. The quality of the meat (mostly fat) and general taste of the food has been poor, I remember when the the salt and pepper chilli squid was the best I had ever had, these last fews time it was greasy and cold and the portions of all meals have definately got alot smaller. This is no longer the place to go for a great chinease for me im afraid. The staff are still pretty atttentive though, so ill give them a point for that, otherwise it would have been a 2.

Dropped in for a quick meal with a few friends. Did not notice the cash only sign on the door but it worked out ok, the menu was vast and we went for a number of vegetarian and vegan options. The food was of average standard and the atmosphere is more like a canteen which also is representative of the price, which is relatively cheap.

been twice with my daughter and friends recently and it's been a bit of a mixed bag. some dishes have been utterly delicious, some nice, some ok and some just awful. Service is quick and efficient and the food itself is inexpensive but i think in future we would rather pay a bit more and try somewhere else where the quality of the food is more consistent

We popped in here for a light dim dum lunch, service was prompt and polite. Not too much choice for dim-sum, would probably be better for a full lunch. Tasted ok, would recommend for something quick but not the best we've had!

We, 9 thai, try this restaurant because menu in the front with low price. We orfer roasted duck, honey pork and 3 more dishes for share and the tease is very good to compare with other chinese restaurant we ever try. The service is excellent. They forgot one dish and the kitchen was close so they give us some free drink, more than our expectation. Finally the price for 9 people with 6 dishes is only £54.

We only tried a few starters because we arrived late and were tired. The lettuce rolls were good and scallops and seaweed were lovely.

Went there for lunch and decided to have the two dishes my daughter liked. Honey barbecued pork rice and pork crispy noodle priced at £6.95 per dish. A can of coke for £1.45. Portion wise was that we were stuffed. I asked for lean meat char Siew but 50% were half fatty. About 15 slices of pork - different sizes. Fairly tasty! Crispy noodles were very crispy and saucy but the bits of pork were mostly scrappy and had fat on it. Normally I am not that fussy but I had to eat round the fatty lumps. Vegetables that came with it were Bak Choi and two or three mange tout. What are the positive bits about the place? Welcomed by a nice man and said please take a seat in Cantonese. Waitress took the order spoke to me in Indonesian. Atmosphere is like the Far East. Cash payment only and the best bit is no service charge added to the bill. Tables are wooden with no frills. Chef is from East Timor! There you have it. I quite enjoy the nostalgia of home but it is a cheap and cheerful lunch.

Visited this restuarant on Saturday night and was very impressed. As the main courses were so reasonably priced we thought that we better have starters which were excellent (hot and sour soup and ribs). The main courses then came which were massive and of really good quality. Had canned drinks yhat again were reasonably priced. All in all fantastic value for money.

Unless you like grease avoid the laksa soup , it must have had a surface of an inch deep, sent it back, 2nd one came out just the same, inedible. They tried to charge me for it too... Lol !I've tried this place a few times , the staff are rude, the waiters just stand staring at you, but cannot speak English and the food is very bland, gloopy msg mashup

China China is one of our favourite restaurant in Brighton. We go there at least once a week and our 2 years old son is loving their food too!The staffs are very friendly and always make us feel so welcome. Their service is brilliant too, but you must take a note that don't go there in the rush hour as it will be very busy. We usually go there when they're just open like midday (12 o'clock to be precise).Every time we go there, we try to see other dishes that we haven't tried but in the end we always came back to our usual menu. And we recommend our favourite dishes for you to try when you go there! The list is incredible but you won't be disappointed!Starter:Wonton soup, Squid chilli salt pepper and Ribs chilli salt pepperMain course:Mixed meat with boiled rice, Roast duck with egg noodles in soup or just simply with boiled rice, stir-fry Ho fun with seafood, Singapore rice noodles, Porridge with shredded duck and Duck with ginger with boiled rice! Yuuuummm!!!Now and again we go there for dimsum but very often we ordered some of our favourite dishes above instead!Aaah... For our drinks, we stick to Chinese tea either hot or cold (depend on the weather at the time)! You know when lunch time coming and sometimes you feel like eating comfort food where you know exactly what to expect (taste wise)!!Well, for us China-China is the place to go!

Muy buen lugar para entrar cuando estoy en mi camino al trabajo. Siempre me gusta el cangrejo sopa ? Así como elegí un poco de carne con salsa de frijol negro.

We had an early dinner and we were the only diners so the restaurant lacked atmosphere. They were however a stream of deliveries going out so it looked good We have a very tasty meal with all the dishes of good quality

We had a lovely take away from this restaurant last night, this is the 3rd time we've used them and the food has been consistently good. It's also so nice that they have their own delivery driver, so you don't have to faff around on an annoying 3rd party app to get your food (normally cold!).- our food was delivered hot and on time, by an extremely well mannered driver. The prices are also very good- well done Li's Sizzling House, keep up serving us all lovely food with great service.
