China Chef in Pembrokeshire

Ordered.meal for 9 people. Understand that they were busy so waiting 30 mins beyond pick up time was understandable. However, collected meal and short of 2 meals (2x chicken balls) so tried to ring as soon as we could and they hung up on us and then we couldn't get through. We understand pressures so will speak to takeaway tomorrow but logged this now in case they say we didn't contact them immediately.

Visited the area for a staycation and this was heavily recommended by some locals. Great food - really enjoyed it !

reasonably priced. good sized portions. excellent fast reliable service. clean and professional. really nicely cooked standard menu chinese takeout food, meat quality very good. eaten from here for a number of years and never disappointed. fishguard count your selves lucky this family run such a great takeout.

First time using this establishment for a takeaway whilst in the area on holiday! Highly recommend - food was full of flavour and portions were perfect too!

Chinese is never as good as the one you’re used to back home but this place was up there in taste and value. It’s located in the Main Street just across the road from the Fishguard Rugby Club which we would highly recommend for a few cheeky beers. We placed our order and came back to collect after the obligatory twenty minutes *Please note this establishment only accepts Cash* The meal was really good and we’d all recommend take away from here

The best Chinese I’ve ever had. Tastes even better knowing that the red cabbage came from the local Tesco. Delicious!

Amazing food quickly done didn't wait long.

My mum is a big fan, so treated her to a take-away. All the food was really good this time, seemed really excellent value and was ready exactly on time. My previous visit was quite disappointing, I found the dishes a bit greasy and the chicken a bit chewy. Just unlucky I guess?

Had 2 take away from here, lots of choice, good value, quick service, lovely food, would recommend if in the area.good choice for vegetarians .

Staff are very pleasant and, because I'm disabled and cannot physically enter their building, extremely attentive to my needs. Food is very good too!

Tried China Chef while on holiday in Fishguard. Food tasted ok but had food poisoning from 3am the following morning. Ruined my holiday. Be careful!

We had the takeaway tonight and we must say it was absolutely the best we have had in a long time, we had chicken chow mien , sweet and sour chicken balls, crispy beef in chilli sauce and chips , it was so tasty

Had a takeaway from here whilst recently holidaying in Pembrokeshire, 20 minutes drive but well worth the drive, everything we had was cooked nicely & tasted great, would recommend if your nearby & fancy a Chinese

The best Chinese I've had in a long time, friendly service, good value. The crispy beef was properly crispy and a good size piece of meat, the duck (we had the dish with mushrooms) looked and tasted like duck. Not too much sauce on either dish, perfect. Thank you and thanks for being open on bank holiday Monday when everywhere else seemed to be closed.

The China Chef was 10 miles from our holiday accommodation but was well worth the drive. As it is the only Chinese takeaway for miles around it is very popular so book early! Allow a good hour and a half on the weekends. The staff were friendly and helpful especially the young lady on the desk. I would definitely recommend.

Good Chinese. We travelled 15 minutes to collect, food was still hot when we got it back. All well cooked and fresh. Could have done with a few more veggies in the chow mien but other than that flavours all lovely.

this is by far the BEST Chinese I’ve had, ever. The chicken and all the meat is real and not processed, which we all appreciated so much. This will be the place to go from now on for a Chinese. Thank you very much!

Food was awful, cheap ingredients and excessive amount of old cooking oil, most of it went in the bin which as it turned out was a good thing as we all became ill, clearly caused by the dish we all shared took us a day to recover, avoid.

We love this place. I have eaten Chinese cooking all over the world, including China. I was born and raised in Chicago which is known for great food from all over the world. I now live on a working dairy farm in Fishguard Wales population about 2,500. What are the odds of having a killer Chinese take out. Well we got one. This place rocks. You don't have to go to China for awesome Chinese food. Go to the China Chef in Fishguard Wales..!

Tried for the first and last time had the set menu beef very slimy and chewy. The chicken dish large chunks and tasteless. Egg fried rice fusty taste and not much egg. best bit prawn crackers .

We order from here every week and have never received a bad order. It has taken a long time to find a good Chinese and now we have. Very nice service, friendly staff and consistently the nicest and tastiest food.

Normally I go to the Dragon and Pearl in Haverfordwest but thought I would give these a try. Should have gone to Haverfordwest..never ever again.

Only gave us half of our order, well, we ordered three mains for three people and got one main.... Really poor.

We are locals who love eating meals from this takeaway! We especially like the House chow mein which is full of tender, delicious meats and fresh vegetables. Try it....you won’t be disappointed!

Dished up most of the Chinese, once we started serving the main dishes we found a hair in the chips along with a hair in the crispy beef !!It took us 15 minutes to get through to China Chef as the phone lines were engaged, to be told from a Member of staff that the manger / owner wouldn’t speak to me? The owner passed the message on to say I need to return all the food if I wanted a refund. So I literally had to scrape what plates we had, and dishes to return the food. When I went back to the Chinese same situation, no manager or owner would come out of the kitchen to talk. The staff member bagged the food and gave my money back with an apology, very disappointing that there was nothing from management. Once I left, I could see that the owner came out of hiding!!!I will never eat there again, I understand these things happen but as a takeaway business the way they handled the situation was very disappointing.

Freshly made, really good tasting food. Veg not overcooked, meat tender and lovely flavours. Seem to have a good chef in the kitchen. 👍

I was in the area on holiday and tried a takeaway in Fishguard. It was delicious, really enjoyed every bit of it! It was all safely set up inside and very quick and easy to pick up. Much better than the Chinese takeaways in my hometown area. Highly recommended

Best vegetarian Chinese for me - ever. Ordered a vegetable Chow Mein and it had real veg in it, broccoli, cauliflower as well as the usual water chestnuts and bean sprouts. Absolutely delicious. Non veggie family and friends enjoyed all of their food too. Great food and great service.

It’s become a tradition for us to have a Chinese takeaway when we go away on our travels, so as we’re here in Fishguard my wife and I thought we would give China Chef a try... We wasn’t disappointed! Great tasting food at a reasonable price. Highly recommend to anyone in the area!Also they have taken great care with making their reception area COVID secure. Well done China Chef

A great traditional Chinese takeaway with all the trimmings. Perfect food, perfect service. The food was well presented and the salt and chilli prawns were especially good.

Have visited many times over last couple years but this visit made sure it was our last . They have always been ok but but the last two visits the food was uneatable oil dripping off everything all 3 off us failed to eat it would save your money nd go elsewhere

We got ours to eat in our campervan waiting for the night ferry. Portions are huge way too much for us to finish. Food was lovely and not greasy like some takeaway can be.

As a fan of Chinese food- I am lucky to have the China Chef as one of the Chinese takeaways in my hometown of Fishguard. Eaten chinese all over Britain including Chinatown in London- this is the best!!

Was told that this was a good Chinese y the people we rented a cottage from..We decided to try it for ourselves. Very good choice, nice food.They dont deliver, but we phoned first, then collected it ourselves. Good range of food too.Peking style chow mein was very good!

We were stopping 10 mins drive away from Fishguard, fancied a Chinese and saw the reviews. Ordered by phone and found the person a bit abrupt, however found the service face to face very friendly. The food was very good, fresh and you could actually taste the different ingredients unlike other Chinese’s we’ve had. Would recommend this takeaway to anyone.

Judging by the previous reviews we were expecting better. Ordered takeaway over the phone, called in at the allocated time and had to wait a further 20 minutes before our food was ready. Could have been a new member of staff that evening but things were not well organised. The food was ok. We ordered a selection of dishes to share between us. The portion sizes were generous, but the cooking lacked flair. I guess the lack of competition in Fishguard means they don't have to do any more.

Supongo que mucha gente que estamos acostumbrados a los sabores de nuestra comida para llevar local china en casa y tener una comida para llevar cuando en vacaciones puede ser un asunto riesgoso (hemos tenido algunos shockers a lo largo de los años). Pedí un local para una recomendación y dijo que el chef de China fue muy buena. Él era justo, el servicio era muy amable, los precios muy competitivos y la comida era muy sabrosa. Sin duda recomiendo los platos de gambas. Volveríamos? Así que ya tenemos. . . Muy recomendable.

Tenía una llevar a comer en nuestra caravana. A un precio razonable. En lugar llamado orden y fue bastante tranquilo, fuimos 20 minutos más tarde y había gente haciendo fila en la puerta. La comida era encantador, excepto la salsa - era más como salsa barbacoa crudos.

La comida era todo bien con la excepción de las costillas asadas, el estilo de cocina que no era de nuestro gusto y hubiera preferido que fueran más crujiente y más bien hecho. Aparte de eso, todo lo demás ordenados era buena, el servicio amable y profesional y la comida fue rápidamente preparado.

We holiday regularly in this area and only discovered this takeaway recently. The food is very good quality, and you can tell the ingredients are very fresh. Good sized portions too!

we ordered from here as we were in area on holiday staying in Fishguard bag resort, we placed order over phone so hadn't seen the place before going to pick up food. On the door there was a food standards agency sign saying food hygiene rating was 1!!!! In spite of this we ate the food anyway as we had paid!! The food it's self was good nice portions not an amazing Chineese but was decent enough to eat!We didn't have bad stomachs after. The prawns were nice and a good size and plenty of them!!!! Chips were okay a bit soggy, rice was average, chicken balls were nice and ribs had a nice amount of meat (bbq ribs we ordered)The man taking order on phone wasn't great and a bit short and rude when ordering. Not many other options for Chineese in Fishguard

Had a week's holiday a few miles from Fishguard and fancied a Chinese takeaway for our last evening. Not a lot of choice within easy distance of our accommodation; the reviews for this one looked good so we gave it a try. Looked a bit drab when we arrived (but I guess many Chinese takeaways do) so wondered whether we'd made the right choice - but went in and ordered anyway. Glad we did - the girl who took our order was courteous and helpful, and the meal was ready for us when we returned twenty minutes later (we had a couple of other calls to make). Smelled good, and was neatly packed in a stout box for easy transit. (It was for six of us, so a fairly big order.)So, the food. Well, it was really rather good. We'd ordered a set meal for four with quite a few extras; there was a good variety of dishes in the set meal (there were a couple to choose from). Not just a variety of dishes, either, but a variety of flavours. (I've lost count of the number of Chinese takeaways I've had where the dishes look different but all taste the same) which we all thoroughly enjoyed. A bit salty of course - every takeaway I've ever had has left me thirsty an hour later. The portion sizes were good, too - this meal was good value as well as good food. Definitely be going back next year....

During our stay on the last night, the family all voted for a Chinese which we found on internet. Food was delicious, we all enjoyed, Chicken Curry, Sweet N Sour Chicken. Food was more than substantial. Would definitely visit there again when in Fishguard.

Visited tonight following recommendations on trip advisor and we were not disappointed. We had a really tasty takeaway. Will defiantly be returning.

We went here on two occasions when we stopped in Fishguard this week.We've sampled their set menu for two and some of their other dishes. All were very tasty and good value for money.

A very good Chinese takeaway. Very good portions cooked quickly and piping hot excellent value I always phone my order in and it is ready to be picked up.
