Chin Chin Chinese Takeaway in Newcastle upon Tyne

Service was fine delivered on time, but the food is not good. I am not fussy by any means but I couldn't eat it, and it went in the bin. Even my cat who is a food thief, grabbed a bit, then left it on the floor. It tastes like everything has been left sitting in stale grease, for days. I have ordered from here twice forgetting about the first time, so not a one off both times in the bin.

My order arrived 45 minutes late. I rang the shop after it was 30 minutes late and he assured me it was only 2-3 minutes away. 15 minutes AFTER that, it arrived. The driver handed me the food then just walked away without saying a word! The chicken balls were WAY overcooked and hard, whereas the rice was luke warm. I’ve tried it but I won’t be back. Bad food and bad customer service.

Firstly I ordered a chicken tikka masala but they said that it was unavailable but then my friend called and ordered a chicken tikka masala and he got one so that was racism and then it was late delivery and cold also my stomach was hurting after this meal the rice was also burnt

Had worse food but nothing special here. Average/below average for what's in the area but then again no one else is serving food as late as these guys so what you gunna do? But saying delivery will be 35 mins and then taking 1hour 45 minutes is shocking, shows how little you care just lying on the phone too. It's just left the shop. Hour late no food. Won't be back. Unless it's midnight again haha

I ordered for the very first time, food was soo good. The flavours were amazing had good Chinese food after long time. Will recommend their salt and pepper dishes and peri peri chow mein. They also customise spice accordingly to our need. Will try again and again here. Delivery guy was on time.

I was going to order from here, until I saw how rude the restaurant is to other customers that left reviews they don't agree with. I'd rather have an inferior meal and order elsewhere.

1 and half hour for delivery. The shop told me to ring the driver to save him self do it. Then the driver refused Scottish notes. So I shut the door. Noodle dry. Curry like piss. Two bits of chicken in a £25 munch box

The hour and a half wait was bad enough but when it arrived....it was by FAR the worst chinese food ever. We couldn't really tell which dish was which as they were completely indistinguishable. Basically there was red sweet food and grey vegetable slop. I ordered "thai red curry" which strangely fell into the grey slop category and tasted no different to the other grey slop dishes. The best part was the noodle special which were literally egg noodles deep fried until crispy and crunchy with no noodles or other vegetables or anything else to make them special other than the grade 10 hardness level. Delivery driver was helpful and not really to blame in all this. I would recommend eating out of bins over this supposed "food". -100 out of 10

Ordered a delivery and waited an hour and rang back he asked what's my postcode I said it then he sed you didn't order a delivery then hung up horrible person on the phone

I recently ordered from this restaurant via Uber Eats, and I must say, the food was absolutely amazing! Every dish was flavorful and fresh, and the portions were generous. The delivery was prompt, and the packaging ensured everything arrived hot and intact. I highly recommend this place for anyone craving delicious Chinese cuisine. I'll definitely be ordering again soon!

Food was fairly nice, kung pao chicken was the dish i was looking forward to most but chicken was chewy and not appetising. King prawn/chicken chow mein was nice, and girl at counter gave me 2 extra sauces for the price of 1 and if not for that, i would’ve rated it a 3. Not rushing to try again but will do in future.

People have their own opinions but Wow placed an order tonight and it was amazing, really enjoyed the food and first time I’ve tried the soup which I am absolutely amazed by it was lovely! Don’t usually have high hopes for some takeaways but I’ve got to say this is my new favourite takeaway, ordered from Gateshead and probably arrived within about 25 minutes. Prawns are amazing too Only downfall was probably the onions but o don’t like onions anyway 😂, I will 100% order again thank you 😁

Avoid. Waited 2 and a half hours for my delivery. Phoned the shop numerous times looking for an update on my order to be told “20 minutes” each time. Eventually requested to speak with the manager who spat his dummy out and put the phone down on me when I requested a refund. When the food eventually arrived it was pretty average but edible (and cold). Can’t fault the deliver driver. He’s clearly overworked.

Horrible rude staff!! The owner needs serious help!! They basically scammed me £27 and gave me the wrong food order which was also late. I called up and asked if he could make a new one and they hung up!! I called again and again and I got no answer from them!!

Tough one for me, you can’t be critical of the food in any way it’s lovely, but they religiously forget parts of your order everytime, I mean they owe me like 3 bags of prawn crackers and a portion of chicken balls… and there’s nothing worse then eating a chow mein without absolutely loading it onto your prawn cracker just ends up being a big plate of disappointment, 6/10

The person who answers the phone is outrageously rude and unpleasant!! Especially on Christmas day he should at least have some positive feeling towards customers and not demand gratitude and humility of a customer who called to ask of their order is on its way ONE HOUR after we placed the order (via Just Eat). Where to start, I tried this out of curiosity after browsing the menu online. Not one of my better decisions. Food took an age deliver albeit I do live 3 mile away. Food arrived stone cold probably due to the fact it was packaged in cheap cardboard boxes? Not sure what that was about. chicken was awful, the rice appeared to be just reused and hard and the chips...how can you do chips wrong? Absaloutly hanging, avoid at all costs.

Ordered food from here advertised as Moon Moon but its actually Chin Chin. Tuesday 20% off. When food turned up it was half portion sizes. Phoned up to ask why and got told you got a discount what do you expect. Won't ever use these arrogant people again . lost regular customer.

I ordered via Uber eats and it has failed to show up , I rang the restaurant and they answered but then within 20 seconds they then ended the phone on me.

I ordered for the first time from this restaurant on Uber eats (restaurant name under China boy) and was disappoint. The portion sizes are extremely small, especially for the price and it was lacking flavour. On top of this my delivery was late and the food was cold when it arrived.

Ordered gravy and chips cost £8 just gravy and chips and obviously plus delivery I don’t know what I was given but it was not gravy and chips it had chicken rice and all sorts I’m allergic to rice so I couldn’t even eat it never ordering again ringing up tomorrow to either get a refund or something done about it cause that is vile

Foods okay when you actually get it. None of the drivers know their area, or speak English…. After a couple of orders and every single one going wrong some how - missing food, taking over an hour past the delivery time, the takeaway putting the phone down on us, delivering our paid food to a different house allegedly we won’t be ordering any more from here.

Been 4 times now, only coz it's open late, but everytime they have forgotten something on my order. Wouldnt mind if the food was nice but its average compared to other chinese takeaways around it. Also price is too high. Ordered 25 quids worth of stuff and still didnt get free prawn crackers. If your a night owl and eat late then yeah but otherwise it's a big NO from me. I wont be returning after the last experience and wont be recommending.

My New Favourite place to go get food. They have been there for over 40yrs but i was living away for several years & came back to find they are still there. Bob is no longer there though but the food brings back all the great memory's of Benwell & Scotswood where I grew up. I highly recommend this place & the Ribs are to die for i swear it. I love the Cantonese or Salt & Pepper style myself but they do several others to suit your taste & tons of other fantastic quality for & i promise i do not work for them its just the food is really that good. Think I'm lying? Crack on & try some then tell me I am lying lol. ENJOY...

Order was 20 minutes late with Missing rice, rang up and was told it will be delivered in another 30 mins, but never actually arrived. Ate my green Thai curry on its own. Won't be using again.

Ordered via Uber eats, ETA 20:55-21:15pm. Called at 21:30 after requesting update to be told ‘2 more minutes the driver is late’ then called again 22:00 to be told the driver was outside. Finally got the delivery at 22:15. The lady on the phone was very helpful and food was still nice just cold. Probably won’t be my first choice of order late at night again.

Ordered via Uber Eats. ETA 21:25-21:45 Called the restaurant at 21:55, they told me it'd be a few more minutes. Called them again at 22:10, and they told me it'd be another half hour. I said I want to cancel the order - they told me to do it through the website. That didn't work. I tried Uber Eats support, but they wouldn't cancel the order or refund my money, saying I had to do that through the restaurant. The driver then turned up at 22:30, with all the wrong food. I still can't get a refund.

I ordered and when it arrived the order was cold, soup had spilt and there was no chicken in our noodles. The cost should have been £18.50 and I was charged £22.50. I have called the manager who says it wasn’t cold and we asked for no chicken. He says all calls are recorded but as yet he has not sent me this. I have just seen the other reviews and cannot believe it puts on its website a five star rating from tripadvisor. Overall poor experience and wouldn’t use again.

Ordered food through JustEat. I’d say to anyone please avoid this takeaway, I ordered food and requested delivery as close to 17:30. Fast forward to 18:30 when the food arrived cold. I’m sorry but I tried to call the takeaway and they said they were sorry and that it was really busy with the World Cup Final. Fair enough, said food would be with me soon and that was at 18:00. Called again at 18:25 and was told it had only just left the takeaway and would be with us in 5 minutes. Overall poor experience and wouldn’t use again.

Ordered egg fried rice and prawn crackers, which is a small order. Order took 1hr 30 mins, which was 1hr 10 mins longer than the quoted delivery time. When I rang the store, the store could not estimate where driver would be, other than ‘on his way’ and asked if I’d like his number to contact him myself? Food arrived lukewarm. Disappointed in the portion size. Rice was mushy

Didn't get the food after several delays. Was meant to arrive at 9.30. By 10.30pm I asked for a refund. At 11.10 the driver could not find my address. AVOID!

I ordered from them via Deliveroo while I was in Newcastle and it’s sad to say that I was not very happy with the service. To start with the order was 15 mins late and was delivered with missing items! One whole item I ordered was missing. I only realised when I received a random sauce pot and not the actual dish. Food was average and good size portions, but service needs to improve big time!

First time trying and it was delicious! So glad to have found a halal Chinese takeaway! We ordered the spicy chicken and beef chow mein and the Thai green curry with steamed rice. Everything was Devine but rice was just a bit mehhh.. nothing special. Can’t wait to order again!

We have had food from here before and had no problems but tonight was a joke we got all of the order apart from the chips witch is half of one of the meals we ordered so rang up and asked them about it and after sorting it I was told that there will be a fresh meal sent out with in 20 minutes ( as the other half would be cold ) then after about 45ish minutes the driver is back at the door with just chips and went on the phone to sort out getting my money back as I have paid for a hot meal and in stead gotten a cold one and was in a sense told I should just heat it up in the microwave.

Brilliant takeaway. Tasty food, friendly staff, cheap prices. If they did dim sum they'd be the only place I'd get Chinese takeaway from. Had house special chow mein, chicken egg fried rice, salt and pepper chicken with rice, prawn crackers and they were all hot, fresh and tasty.Would recommend.

They always forget something off the order. First time it was chips, second time it was rice. So your food sits there getting freezing cold while they come and deliver a carton of rice. Terrible.

Food not nice. Crispy beef had an unpleasant sour flavour. The crispy noodle dish looked unappetising and tasted of old oil. Boiled rice was OK

Terrible customer service. Ordered for collection, they provided me with a set time of 8pm, I was then stood for 20 minutes waiting after this time to receive my order which had 2 items missing. When driving away I noticed chips where missing so I drove all the way back to get them. Then when arriving home my parter found there was also no spring rolls. We rang to have this resolved and we’re told we could have 10% off our next order - this doesn’t even cover the cost of the spring rolls. By the time we finally managed to sit down and eat our food it was cold. Been here before and had no issues but last-nights service was terrible.

Ordered yesterday and food was a lot better than expected! Got the hot and spicy chow mein which was perfect and the garlic chilli beef - only downside was that we didn't know the beef would be crispy beef in the chilli garlic and would have preferred normal beef. Other than that, we were really happy; everything was flavourful and will order again!
