Rude service. Requested sweet and sour sauce for spring rolls and aggressively responded to say they don’t give sauce with spring rolls. Anyway, I ate half a spring roll on their premises…. which tasted absolutely awful… of OLD OIL, COMPLETELY saturated in oil that’s been over-used!!! I didn’t even know if I was meant to chew or swallow … as in swallowing a DRINK!! maybe a good thing I didn’t get the sauce to disguise the FOOD POISONING I was gifted with!! No point in explaining to people who are highly defensive on such a small level about providing condiments (hey I was ok to pay for it as an “extra”.)… if you can’t even get the basics right on customer service.. there’s no point in even having a conversation on food poisoning that took me out of work for 2 days!!!

Food extremely mediocre and bland. Mini spring rolls tasted horrible. Prawns smelled. Unacceptable quality. Never ordering from there again unfortunately.

This was a great place at the beginning, every Friday guaranteed to be spending £40-£45 in this place well not anymore 🤬 then is starting too go down hill very quickly for me, the salt & pepper crispy chicken was nice cut cubs of chicken breast before, then all of a sudden they started too use chicken nuggets like you get from McDonald’s, did taste disgusting like it’s from Lids 🤢🤮 the satay sauce was like tap water, fried rice taste like uncle bens rice, on the hunt for a Chinese takeaway.

Amazing! Food has good quantity and quality.

This place is not the same! Payed £35.40 for 2 what looked omelettes... aparent foo young! Chicken stripes.... pffffft cut up birds eye crispy burger.... and not forgetting salt and chilli chicken! Basically, Burnt onions with chilli flakes and birds eye chicken nuggets.... no thanks!!! I took the food back and got a refund

What’s happening at Chims? A disappointing experience all round.. especially the attitude of the staff. Food was bland.. but the main issue was that the main dish was lukewarm (uncooked?) ..and the rice was cold.. so all in the bin (and I turned up for my food well before the time slot they quoted me when I ordered – and live just a few feet away so no excuses). Having been going to Chims for 18 years I felt the need to let them know.. and the bottom line is - they are not interested in genuine customer concerns. Only suggestion they had was to take the food back.. why? – would you warm it up to serve someone else? I have been a loyal customer for 18 years and always given positive comments to them and family/friends (and even left some good tips in the jar/tray over the years!). So what do you now expect Chims? It’s not just me who you’ve let down and disappointed.. your response to my genuine feedback is concerning - and your reputation is now tarnished. And i'm left thinking, if you're not concerned about the quality of you food, then I ponder what's going on in the kitchen side of the business? My experience will be passed on to others - family/ friends/ colleagues/ acquaintances/ strangers in the pub/ passers by, etc - you get the jist! . and I start with trip advisor.

Great Chinese takeaway, short waiting time, nice service and food was delicious.

Ordered peking style spare ribs, wok fried vegetables in sweet and sour sauce and plain chow mein. Peking sauce is meant to be sweet and sticky but it was watery, not sweet and not much flavour at all, the same for the sweet and sour sauce and the vegetables were mostly onions with some cabbage and water chestnuts. Disappointing and does not deserve the google review score it has. Other people may have had a good experience from the review I read but I will never be ordering from here again!

Usual Chinese closed, so thought we'd give it a try. Boiled rice stodgy & sticky. Chicken/ bamboo shoots tasteless, chicken curry bland. All 3 meals unfinished - a first in our house. Even allowing for individual tastes, very disappointing.

It's OK most of the time but we certainly stopped using them for a while. Go there now from time to time but usually because it's convenient and acceptable. OK, it's a takeaway and you don't expect restaurant standards and as I say it's usually OK. I wish they would take cards though, strictly cash only.

This really is one of the best takeaways I have visited. Good quality food served with a smile. Very friendly and helpful service and it's clear they use high quality ingredients, cooked well.

Really delicious Chinese food!! Good portion sizes also. We ordered sweet and sour Hong style chicken, special mixed chow mein, egg fried rice and a mixed appetizer. Everything was so delicious and hot when we picked it up. Will definitely be coming here again!

I came here 4 years ago and was amazing , can never complain about portion sizes or waiting time ,however I visited on Monday this week ,ordered multiple things and all was VILE🤢 ,curry sauce bland , sweet and sour Hong Kong style chewy ,pork chow mein just generic , crispy seaweed wasn't crispy ,and the special fried rice had what seemed like any old iceland meat chucked in all just tasted watered down no flavour atall ,REALLY DISAPPOINTED, I won't be going back 😕

The worst Chinese takeaway I've ever had. Spent £40 and it was that bad everyone left most of the food on their plates. The sweet and sour chicken balls were still pink inside and chewy and I asked for no sauce on my special fried rice but when we got home it had sauce all over it. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Great little takeaway. Good selection of food and reasonably sized portions and alway piping hot. It is cash only (no cards). Parking is usually easy.

Missing item (rice). Chips are/like frozen ones - not the best.

No matter where I have moved I will always travel a little bit extra and come to this takeaway. The food, portions and service was really good. Would highly recommend this takeaway and wouldn’t go anywhere else. 10/10 every time.

Chims used to be amazing a couple of years ago, and I even reviewed it on google very favourably, but I got a takeaway from there a while back and it was atrocious........the crispy beef was flavourless and served with completely raw carrot, the sweet and sour pork balls was soooh chewy, and the meat had definately been cooked a few days prior and the Singapore noodle dish was lacklustre at best. The lemon chicken, however was enjoyed though..............I phoned the owner and she said that nobody ever complained but that she would ask the chef and get back to me..That was ages ago and no courtesy call back.................

After reading through a few comments doesn’t seem it’s just me that have had the pleasure of the rude staff. Have been using chims for years, and have recommended a lot of people!!! Ordered what I usually order ‘salt and pepper shredded chicken’ have ordered this I’d say around 20times. When I got home to find out they had given me sweet and sour pepper chicken I rung them to notify them that there order was incorrect and they swore blind that they don’t do salt and pepper shredded chicken. So 1 they should have said this on the phone when we ordered (which they didn’t) and 2 instead of admitting fault and being polite, they accused me of threatening them because I said I was going to send them a picture of one of my previous orders, the salt and pepper shredded chicken that I’ve always ordered. Complete disregard for customer satisfaction, and will not be using Chims any more and will make sure I don’t advertise their food any more. Disgusting customer service. I’ll attach a photo of what I got ( ordered two of them) and one of what I usually order (and get) from the same Chinese. Rude staff and for the sake of refunding £9 something for your error, which wasn’t even offered you have lost numerous customers. Hopefully you’ll reevaluate your employment process if your staff are unable to take a simple order, and then not be capable of dealing with a complaint.

Best Chinese takeaway that we have been too in a long while, although you will pay for it as prices are a bit higher than average. Nonetheless a worthy experience.

Great takeaway with friendly service and tasty food. Very much enjoyed the Wallace and Gromit statue photos on the wall.

Best Chinese in Bristol! Been a customer a long time and never fails to hit the spot. Family all love it and many of my friends have been converted from there original Chinese takeaways to chims. Definitely number 1 in Bristol.

Excellent food, could improve their online booking to give realistic times. When busy can be very long wait but online states 20mins still. That's the problem with being popular I guess!

We have had a takeaway from here twice now and found the food to be good. There seem to be more fresh vegetables in the dishes and the sweet and sour is not 'gloopy' as it is in some other Chinese takeaways.

We bought a selection of dishes for a group of six. The meal was really excellent - the best Chinese takeaway according to our guests. Our selection included Pancake Rolls, half a Peking duck, sweet and sour chicken, prawn chow mein, spare ribs and egg fried rice. All absolutely delicious.

Regular customer for many years, I love their food, top quality and generous portions, staff is super friendly and place very clean. I always place my order by phone in advanced and pick my food hot in 10 minutes.

Went their a few days ago to get food .all other take away were closed .so this pkace was the last one .i went to as it was abit late .so i got their and they were still open so i irder my and my husband food and food was great .staff are friendly and helpful .so yes i will go their again

I have often bought food here and have never failed to enjoy it. The service is always friendly and helpful and it's a pleasure to be a customer. Recent bad reviews have in my mind been badly judged and Chims is as good as ever.

Chrispy lamb need more than just your teeth so tough unable to eat

The most expensive and dryist Chinese I have ever eaten.. I know we're in lock down but 2 and 1/2 hour wait outside the shop is really not exceptable. Very disappointing.

We've been using Chims for over 5 years, driving 10 miles each way as we always loved the food. We've been there twice recently and the food is definitely not as good as it used to be. Less tasty and just not as fresh tasting as it was. All the faces behind the counter have changed and just wondered if the kitchen staff and /or ownership have changed as well. Currently looking for a new Chinese takeaway

Recently this year I posted a review about this establishment, being fantastic. But the last few takeaways were really underpar and I left a constructive review on how I felt. Now im being accused of being a liar because I thought the food and gone down hill and this is the response I had from this establishment and this never happened. The response that I had on google reviews was defensive and obstructive and full of lies, making out this I had free food which I never had. I hope that they see this and get something sorted. CHIMS YOUR FOOD IS AWFULL STOP LIEING AND GET IT SORTED. Please take constructive criticism when you see it and take it on board. People don't want to be ripped off for crap food.

I’ve been a fan for years, Disappointing last supper, I don’t know what you use as chicken but tofu ? Rubbish response when I called to complain too

For years myself and family where coming to this establishment for fantastic food. At one point I would say it would be the best in Bristol, FANTASTIC. But ever since it had changed hands a couple of years ago its become an utter disapointment. It's gone down hill, like a land slide. I ordered a chicken curry with boiled rice, and the taste was bland, and the chicken was this water pumped synthetic chicken which was awful, it was second rate cheap off cuts of meat. Im really disappointed. The end result was me throwing half of it in the food recycling bin. I really don't like to moan, but when you go out to buy food you want value for money, but in this case there was no value or quality to it at all. I really do hope that this will be read, and some action will be took upon, as I really do appreciate small local businesses doing well.

Special fried rice is excellent

The best Chinese in Bristol. I’ve tried and few and had given up and then was Reccomend by a family friend and haven’t turn back. You will not be disappointed. This Chinese restaurant is the only one I go to in Bristol. :)

Good prices. Good food. Very tasty and the chow main was amazing, not too salty, like some chow meins are. Portion sizes were very good. The take-away was clean. Good social distancing measures in place. Can ring for collection.

Amazing... the chicken balls are in a league of there own. Staff very friendly and polite. Highly recommend. Cheated on our regular Chinese in shirehampton. And safe to say this is now our regular. 5 star from me.

Incomplete menu with no website link

So Chims is back to top flight. Beautiful food. We won't go anywhere else. Recommend all aspects of the menu meaties and veggie. We all love the food here. I'm very difficult to please in terms of use Ake away food but I am currently saying yayys.

Nice local chinese takeaway. Not too greasy and I like the crispy seaweed :-) Don't always take card though so worth phoning up to find out.

Excellent food and excellent service. I would’t go anywhere else for my Chinese food as Chims is the best! Everytime we go the food is on point, hot, freshly made and tastes fantastic. Mines a sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, what’s yours? I’m not sharing :)

We’ve had takeaway from here a few times since we moved and have been pleased. The food is a decent quality and they have a big menu with a good range of options. We like the satay chicken and I really enjoy the foo yung, Hubby’s favourite is the seaspice. Weirdly, they only take cash but there’s a cash point nearby.

Definitely one of the better Chinese Takeaways around. Cash only, though.

Comida asquerosa calentada. Las patatas fritas ordenadas que eran viles, sabían que tenían varias visitas en freidora o microondas. Se pidieron bolas de pollo agridulces y la masa no estaba cocida y bastante pastosa. ¿Pollo cortado en cubos? envuelto en masa pastosa. Salsa de curry bien. Salsa agridulce solo para ayudarlo a tragar alimentos terribles. ¡Lo mejor de toda la comida fue el contenedor en el que vino!

An excellent meal with fresh ingredients full of taste, on time and at a very reasonable price. Thoroughly recommended!

Pedimos que nos quitaran de aquí solo para llegar a recogerlo y descubrir que solo era efectivo. Pedimos una variedad de comidas, la carne en salsa de frijoles negros era muy buena, las frijoles fritos también estaban bien. Todo fue bastante decente de una comida para llevar, así que volveremos.

Sadly since Mr Chim retired, the new management has not kept up his excellent legacy. Prices have increased by about 30%, and the previously excellent friendly service has taken a turn for the worse.

Amy confirmó que ahora pueden tomar pre-pedidos de almuerzo cualquier día, excepto los domingos. ¡Las leyes estaban muy llenas y felices! ¡Muy recomendado! Un viejo amigo de la familia (cliente) me vio venir una vez y estaba desconcertado. ¡Solo me encogí de hombros y sonreí, "todavía necesito comer"! : -)

I have eaten at chims for years but moved to Aus 10years ago and only recently had it when I came back for a visit! Still tasty, still good value and I now crave it being back in Aus!

Have ordered several times from Chim's and have always been pleased with the food and service. Food is always great and portions are big. My only problem with this takeaway is they don't deliver, but you can pre-order via telephone and go to the takeaway when your food is ready. Would definitely recommend.

He estado yendo aquí por mucho tiempo, está dirigido por gente amable y auténtica. La niña china que toma los pedidos es extremadamente educada y está realmente interesada en sus clientes. Me encanta la comida, siempre fresca, increíblemente sabrosa y las porciones son enormes. Nada más que puro amor por esta comida para llevar, no puedo criticar este lugar, lo recomendaría a todos.

Very friendly takeaway. Good food.

I have been a customer of Chims for 15 years but will now be looking for alternatives .... We bought a large order, we got home and found that 2 items were missing . we called Chims to inform them what had happened and the response from them was they were not going to cook replacement food . I then got quite angry and asked to speak to the person in charge and I was told by the chap on the phone that she refused to talk to me . I then drove back down to Chims and had an argument with the staff where they said it wasn't on the order but 6 items amounting to £45 doesn't add up 🤔. In the end they replaced the food under protest . I hope it was worth the argument for Chims as they have lost £140 of our business a month and I would seriously not consider using this take away they have a reall bad attitude to customers and since Mr Chim sold the business the food and customer service is awful.

Best Chinese in Bristol picked up exactly where mr chim left off! A real old school Chinese takeaway , All dishes consistent and fresh and the service is great ! Wish they delivered tho !

My local Chinese and probably use it 8-9 times a year. Whilst we don’t vary our order much or go for the most adventurous dishes, what we have is consistently good. I’ve not noticed any particular difference in the food since Mr Chim moved on. Mr Chim was a lovely man, but the two new young ladies front of house are an absolute joy to deal with.

Absolutly amazing place, always very fresh. I have my special food made here so extremly happy with them. Tried more takeaway around but this is by far best! I am not living close but 30min away and I will come gladly!

Solíamos disfrutar de la comida de aquí, pero teníamos algunos meses de comida china. No estoy seguro si es mi imaginación, pero la comida parece mejor que nunca ahora. Las costillas estaban deliciosas como aperitivos y los platos principales de pollo limón y especial mejillones eran abundantes y sabrosos.

Fast, friendly service. Also possible to pre-order on phone. Front of house is clean. Sadly, food still dispensed in single use plastic. No website presence either even for a menu. Nor is there any home delivery service. Open lunch times as well as every evening though. On street parking but as it's a shopping area at busy times you may need to walk a few yards. Good choice of dishes on the menu. The quality of food tried was high with good flavour. Very, very generous portions. Egg fried rice not overly fatty/oily.

We was recommended this place by friends and we are very impressed!!!We even go out of our way to get Chinese from here. The prices are good too. We live around 15min drive and our food is still pipping hot when we get home. All is cooked to order and tastes amazing. We always get greated with a smile and a really friendly service, so good at interacting with the kids too

I love visiting this place. It's run by warm and friendly people. The young lady who serves me is extremely polite and seemed genuinely interested in her customers. You can actually have a conversation! Someone obviously went to the trouble to do some Gromit and Shaun the Sheep hunting( Wallace and Gromit character) as they have photographs of them all over the wall. 😀😀😀

Overall an enjoyable meal which is always good value for money. Customer service first class. One criticism though, and I know this may sound trivial, but please sort out your chips! They are awful. They are insipid and totally tasteless. Please go back to the original supplier Chims used prior to your takeover last year!

Have ordered multiple times from Chims and it has never disappointed me. Food is outstanding compared to most Chinese places I have ordered from. The staff are very friendly and has helped me choose meals since their menu had such a large range of dishes.

Fui a verlo un sábado a última hora de la tarde y el amable miembro del personal de recepción me saludó alegremente. Elegimos un menú fijo para dos personas, y aunque era sábado y estaban bastante ocupados, no tuvimos una espera demasiado larga. La comida era excelente, muy sabrosa y suficiente para tres personas y mucho menos dos. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo!
