Chilton Chippy in County Durham

Haven't been for a while,fancied a bag of chips,not a full bag and all chip ends,absolutely disgusting,disgraceful and not worth the hiked prices,won't be returning

Have you changed hands not as usual and chips need to improve.

Just had a portion of chips from here. Absolutely horrible, dry mainly scrappy chips not fresh possibly re heated from the night before. Had a funny taste to them, Ended up throwing them in the bin. Won't be coming back. Waste of money.

Our lass loves the kebabs the chips always are a bit crunchy though like they’ve been sat too long

Food was on time… however the kebab was like leather so didn’t eat it also ordered a kebab wrap and it came in a tray with chips and a hard nan bread

Received a notification at 9.05pm to say food was on way, food delivered 40 minutes later and food was cold. As I’m a 10 minute drive from the takeaway (I was a delivery driver myself) I can only assume my food was driven around local to the shop for 30 minutes before heading over to me.

I ordered 500ml bottle of diet coke but just sent a 330ml can.

Cheese & mushroom garlic bread was nice. Not keen on the battered pineapple rings as it wasn't what I was expecting.

Lush chippy. I got jumbo sausage with large chips and garlic sauce. Service was great with very polite staff.

I ordered the mixed kebab and thought I'll order the chilli with it thinking it would arrive in a tub and give my lad it for his portion of kebab but noooo it was splashed inside of it. You see I am quite boring when it comes to sauces I like things plain but give me vinegar any day and I'll use the whole bottle. I'm not complaining though at least my lad had a great mixed kebab that was meant to be half mine. The fish and chips portions was huge so shared with my daughter which was lovely

yummie Golden crispy batter white fish perfectly cooked with homecut chips and a very tasty curry sauce (+a bag of crispy scraps) delivered on time with a smile _ excellent service and perfectly cooked food 5 stars all the way

just moved to the area and put a large order in, it was ready to collect at exactly the stated time and the food was amazing, I would usually try a few places after moving but no need to after finding this little gem. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great food, came when they said it would, friendly delivery guy to. Were even able to help with my request I left in the notes for them, something other places don't even seem to look at.

Called in today, just before afternoon closing. Fish and chips three times ordered. Beautifully cooked, crispy batter, monster fish. All three of us were highly delighted. It's not often we're down this way. We'll be back!

Food was cold when arrived. Took 2 hours to arrive. I rang up 10 minutes after it was due to ask how long was told it was on its way. It then took another 50 minutes to arrive from that point.

Found some sort of flying creature in my food, rang up and complained they then made the same food for me, to deliver it, I was completely put off by my food now and couldn’t eat, chicken nuggets were a soggy mess and the chips looked anaemic. Pizza was dry and tasted and looked like it had been made yesterday, overall not happy

Delivery took over 2 hours. Food was alright but won’t be rushing back!

order was meant to be with me at 19:15, bit was very late, received at 20:17. Had to reheat my fish n chips, and curry sauce... you don't expect an order to late by an hour or so.

Got delivered the wrong order, rang up and the didn't seem interested till the partner rang up, said order would be 5 mins, half an hour later got delivered. Ordered a mince pie not a chicken and mushroom. 100% NOT RECOMMEND TO ANY ONE. Will not order from here again

Had my delivery turn up an hour after ordering and had items missing. Rang them and spoke to 3 different people. Still waiting over an hour for the missing items and they still aren't here! Won't be ordering from these again and definitely won't recommend them

both pizza's burnt again, very disappointed they would still serve it after seeing how burnt they were, its sad as they are really nice pizzas usually, and putting up the price of the 12" pizza deal an extra £1.60 to cover the free garlic ( garlic sauce is £1.60 ), find that really greedy and shocking

Kebab wrap had donner meat hard and tasted bad, wrap was more like a pitta bread and was rubbery not eatable, fish and chips for kids but fish was cold. Definitely a big let down for Christmas Eve tea

Food is usually good but I ordered my food over 2 hours ago and it still hasn't arrived, the Just Eat app said it's been delivered and when I try to call I receive the 'this persons mailbox is full, you cannot leave a message, bye' message. Now apparently the restaurant is closed! Terrible service, terrible at communication, do not bother as they will take your money and not give you anything in return!

My food still hasn't arrived! It's an hour late, I keep trying to call to hear that the owners mailbox if full and I can't leave a message and now the restaurant is closed?!

Over an hour late, freezing cold food finally delivered and when I tried to call the number listed on the website, I was met with 'this persons mail box is full, goodbye'. I can only assume it was full of complaints from late and cold orders!

Not sure if there’s enough space to describe what just happened.. food delivered, part missing, burger looked as if it had been flashed on the sun. Called to complain. Woman laughed at me repeatedly and said she made it herself so was obviously okay. I thought strange behaviour. Told me delivery driver was elsewhere. So. Needing some snacks seeing as I was starving thought I’d drop her meat discs off on way to shop. After handing her the burger.. she proceeded to RIP IT APART on the counter until she found a bit that was “edible”. I was stunned. I said your fingers look sore from tearing that concrete to pieces and it’s not nice to laugh at people. Her husband (lovely man) appeared and apologised. Offered me a replacement but at this point I needed vodka instead.

Always order from these but this time I was very disappointed, the chips was over done, kebab came without chilli sauce and my little boys order didn't have a drink even though it stated it came with one.

Food was nice when it was finally delivered 2.5 hours later and after we received the complete wrong order would not order again!

Waited for a long time for food only to have it be cold when it came, estimated time was 35 to 50 mins and it took closer to 2 hours. Normally love there food but this has really hurt my opinion of them.

pizza base half cooked, kebab meat cold and chilled and unedible, sausage and chips arrived no sausage just more kebab meat and half cooked frozen chips. whole meal £19 binned. will never use again

Just wanted to say we have always got from you always satisfied , the fish and cheese patty was beautiful but the chips were very disappointed we didn’t eat them very hard as if they had been re heated

Rang 5 minutes after the latest time to say 1 of the items was unavailable. 1 and half hours after order was placed.

Both meals were cold and had very little flavour. At least the can of pop was cold 🤣

Always love the wraps from here, not the best I've had but still was enjoyable.

Foods always decent but they need to double-check the orders for missing items before sending.

Chips weren't the best, the beans were lacking the bean sauce. As for the battered Mars bar the one I got was pathetic, treat size Mars bar for £1.40 could have gone to my local chippy for a better battered Mars bar that's full sized.

We travel 10 miles to visit best chippy in the north east big portions. clean premises and pleasant staff.

In a fish and chip shop, down the lane, I once dined, but won't do it again. The fish they served, oh, what a crime, Soggy and rotten, a taste like grime. I ordered a portion, eager and keen, But what they brought, it was quite obscene. The chips were floppy, as soggy as rain, And the fish was so old, it caused me pain. I took a bite, my face turned green, I swear that fish had seen a submarine. It was rubbery, slimy, and smelled like a shoe, I thought, "Is this fish from the ocean blue?" The chips, oh dear, they were a sight, Soggier than a waterlogged kite. I couldn't tell if they were potato or sponge, Eating them felt like a culinary plunge. I asked the server, with a hint of despair, "Is this food fit for a grizzly bear?" She just chuckled and said with a grin, "It's our specialty, sir, a win-win!" But I knew better, this was no treat, It was time to make my hasty retreat. From that fish and chip shop, I quickly fled, Never again to dine there, I said. So if you seek fish that's fresh and divine, And chips that aren't soggy, like rain-soaked twine, Avoid that shop, it's a culinary crime, For I've learned my lesson, one bite at a time!
