What a toilet rudest woman in the world works there food so bad it has deteriorated beyond belief and now I noticed hygiene rating has dropped as well DO NOT GO

Ordered a takeaway and was by far the worst chinese we have eaten. Avoid this and avoid disappointment . I should have asked for a refund.

We intended to go on boxing day as we have used the restaurant several times. We always inform them that my wife has a nut allergy. So we booked online. Then we were called by the restaurant informing me that they could not accommodate us therefore the booking was cancelled. Due to my wife's condition, this is outrageous it is a restaurant that chooses its customers, and we feel that we have been treated so badly by this restaurant because of my wife's allergy

We ordered the Peking set menu @ £54.00. The only good thing about it was that it arrived on time! The starters were cold and the prawn toast tasted and looked as if it had been reheated more than once. The dry shredded beef was one humongous pile, all stick together and far from fresh- it tasted like leather. The ‘stir fried Chinese vegetables’ consisted of Pak Choi floating in water - no other veg at all. I called to complain and was told ‘contact Deliveroo - the Restaurant wanted nothing to do with it - presumably because they feared I was seeking a refund - which I wasn’t . We used to eat in the restaurant when it was in Hatch End - based on this experience we won’t bother again !

Terrible staff, food not great. They tried to charge us for take away containers, extra sauce for the duck wraps and we queried this only to receive a very angry response from the staff. This was my father's birthday- but through the dinner, staff were constantly rude, they stare, and despite it being empty at the beginning of our meal.. they kept asking us to tell our young baby to keep the noise down. It was unreal. Later on during our exit, we refused service charge , and the staff member with shorter hair actually swore at us and made a scene infront of other diners. She told us we don't need to come back or order from them and it's fine. Best part is they posted a flyer through our door last week! AVOID THIS CIRCUS of a resturant. It's ruined by its 1 star chef the clowns pretending to be staff.

Horrible. We had a take away, we live 5 min drive away. Food was cold when we unpacked. Smoked chicken was burn (and cold), rice was cold damp and pudding like. Never again.

We ordered online/home delivery. The food when it arrived was only lukewarm. We paid £84 for 4 adults. If the quality had been good this would not have been an issue but it was not. The food itself was only mediocre. The yellow stain on anything that was touched has been incredibly difficult to shift. I would not use or recommend this restaurant for take away/home delivery.

AVOID. Very bad food. Tastes like they use old burnt oil. I specifically requested to put less oil in our chow meins. It was so oily and very tasteless. It was our first order. I rang the restaurant to give them a chance to find a solution, but the last said you ordered from under, talk to them. She said we have to put oil. I explained I understand they do to ensure it doesn't stick to the pan but this much oil is enough to make another 5-6 servings ! Very rude , not helpful. We now wasted money on food we will not eat. AVOID

Used to love this place for family and friends catch up. The food used to be spot on and staff friendly. Sadly this is no longer the case. Was there for a small birthday gathering and staff literally had frowns on and miserable. Crispy chilli beef used to be a highlight but this is bad now. Such a shame.

This was the worst Chinese meal I have ever had. I took my grandchildren there as a treat. There are so many other restaurants in Bushey. I really chose the wrong one. The food and the service were disgusting not to mention expensive.

After leaving a justifiably bad review a year ago, having visited many times before, we decided to give this restaurant another chance and we were glad we did. It’s safe to say the food is back to it’s previous best, indeed this was probably the best meal we have had here, visiting many times over the last ten years. Well done to the management and staff, keep it up as we will be returning.

This place has changed hands.. Staff are now rude and unfriendly. Very poor, sloppy service. Food mediocre and overpriced.

Chikayan was very good pre Covid but it seems management and chef has changed. It was very disappointed. Someone wrote the staff stared, yes so true, And one was very defensive when I complained about the chilli oil. The food was a let down. I certainly wont be revisiting except someone confirms food is good. Some of the food tasted like plastic. If only they could change their chef, the place would be more appealing. Ambiance of place was good though. Table for 4 was also cramped, no space to spread out the starters

Terrible, just terrible. They think, just because of the area they can charge extortionate prices for set meals. That would be fine if the quality was up to scratch but the food has gone way down hill since "back in the day". And the staff constantly hover and stare. Very off putting. All in all after years of going (since it was The Lantin House) I will never be retuning.

I really dont know where all the negtive reviews are coming from, but they dont look too recent either. I came here a few years ago, and again this month, and the food was great. It's a set price, all you can eat, and it's good value if you ask me, unless you're only eating a small plate, in which case better paying a la carte somewhere else. I would recommend the wings, they're really nice, the soup, crispy duck and seaweed. Those are my favourites to have here. Remember you can have as much as you like, provided you finish each portion first, which is fair enough because we can all eat with our eyes sometimes right? I think that it's not common for people to leave reviews of places they like, we all love to slate a place we hate by the looks of it, but I'm trying to document a balanced list of places I would revisit, and those I wouldnt, so I'm hopefully giving balanced contributions. I'd question if the other reviewers are doing the same, or are just moaning myrtles, because I'll be honest, I really did enjoy my visit, and I'll be revisiting again soon. Give it a go.

We used to visit their Hatch End branch and when it closed down we started visting their Bushey restaurant. It was allways good ,but not cheap, but we did not mind because the food was cooked well and always flavorsome.I relized something had changed when we ordered a takeaway and told the 20% on takeaway was only if we paid cash on not card ,I told them this was 'nt printed on their menu or on their website. I was informed they were the new owners and these are the rules, but the food which I took home tasted cheap & nasty.The food tasted completely different to the way it used to be ,chill beef was all stuck together and tastless as was the sweet & sour chicken.These were classic chinese dishes which we have always ordered & loved NOT ANY MORE ! It is such a shame when a good restaurant starts using cheaper ingredients and inferior sauces. The search continues for a good local chinese restaurant

Had excellent meals at their Hatch End branch, which has now closed. First time at the Bushey restaurant and totally unimpressed by the experience The mixed starters were nothing special, some dry and some greasy, duck pancakes fine, tasteless rice and crispy beef, like chewing rubber bands Worst aspect was the waiter who was the most miserable unfriendly server imaginable who made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable The experience was not worth the money and we will not return

Fairly quiet as just after New Year. Food was good and portions fair as well. Staff very welcoming. Not cheap though.

Very nice Chinese restaurant, especially fried noodle and fried rice. We have ordered take away 3 times during our 2 weeks stay in England.

Very very disappointed made a very simple takeaway order - which I also went to collect - but wrong dish was given - no explanation offered other then to come back to the restaurant to swap the dish as drivers to busy to deliver for up to an hour and wouldn’t agree to put in a taxi … Chikiyan Team- perhaps its Time to review how you deal with customers and appoint a manager so that you don’t all stand around looking at each other with blank expressions - You could have changed the outcome with some communication, sense and curtesy - Maybe requesting cash from customers in return for offering them a discount - allows you to make more for doing less business as likely untaxed- but we would prefer to pay full price and simply receive what we ordered Remember you are a local restaurant and should make a better effort to avoid locals considering to go to alternative chinese - of which there are plenty ..

What has happened to this place!? Came for my Birthday as i live locally and this has always been a fave place to come but perhaps it has changed hands? Watered down hoisin sauce, sloppy squishy chicken and worse than the food was the service. I was wondering why it was so empty on a december evening and now i know why. Very sad indeed, will be so sorry if it closes down.

I have been coming to this restaurant regularly for over ten years and always found the food to be excellent. However, the venue is now under new management and the standard of food has noticeable dropped in quality and flavour. Such a shame.

Family birthday with 3 kids &7 adults so we opted for à la carte. Crispy duck, mixed meat crispy noodles, egg fried rice, chi yum prawns and smoked chicken generous portions and delicious. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Our new go to Chinese!

i ordered takeaway from this chinese and it was lush 👍 the food was more authentic tasting, decent portion sizes and free prawn crackers... i had enough for leftovers the following day 😊

This place will scam you. Paid on their online system. 2 hours in and still waiting for food. Taken line off the hook so can’t call. Had to drive to understand what is going on and said food is out on the road and nothing they can do. Been going to this place for years but never again! Terrible money grabbing people. Simply Awful - wanted to support a local business by eating out however I was so disappointed with the price Increase, just under £30 for a supposed all you can eat. Extremely disappointed with the quality of food - pre COVID I was a regular and I’m sadden by the state of the menu ( we weren’t even offered the all you can eat menu to begin with).The manager was friendly but the rest of the staff lacked any form of customer service and I was forced into paying the service and food bill before I had eaten. Sadly I won’t be returning and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone, the price doesn’t match the poor quality of the food!

Terrible - food prices have gone up and food standards have gone done. Most was uneatable. Ripping of the customers and the tax payer. Service charge taken at full price and not at the reduced government price. They didn’t care.Will never go back which is a shame as it used to be really good.

Normally this Restaurant charge around £20 for their eat as much as you like menu and slightly more on the weekend.Was shocked when I went in on Wednesday and was told by server are now charging £28 per person, therefore with the government scheme you still have to pay £18 plus service at the full priceThe food portions are much smaller and the Food quality has gone right down most food was tasteless When I challenged the Manager he said normally its £28 on the weekend and £23 on weekdays yet the cost was £28 week days and this changed before August... What rubbish. Considering food has a 15% vat decrease too this is a disgrace when people are coming out choosing to support their business. I understand in the future a marginal price rise to make up for lost sales during lockdown but this took it to a new level.I told Manager will never visit this this establishment again he could not care less paid my bill and left

Beware you will be ripped off. So the restaurant had firstly not taken off the prices the new Vat allowance 20%-5%, then have also put up their prices.... they then add the service charge to the total amount before taking off the Government discount off... so ripped off throughout the bill!Profiteering!Not only this they have reduced the menu choices, reduced The portion sizes and filled out all the dishes with onions rather than the meet or fish!Avoid at all costs!

I really enjoyed the food compared to other buffets I've visited. We went there as a family for a birthday celebration and they were very hospitable, the food was freshly cooked and not too salty. The manager was very welcoming and I like that the table service is quite swift, they don't keep you waiting too long. To add to the benefits we were given a discount thanks to the eat out to help out scheme. Though the buffet is a bit pricey it's definitely worth it especially for celebratory events. Will definitely be coming back again.

What a shame . Greed has taken over with prices hiked up to £30 “per person before they discount the taxpayer eat out to help out scheme, then add 12.5% service etc - complete rip off ! Other Chinese restaurants have maintained their all you can eat for £17/18 per head - hiking it up £10 is exploitation of taxpayers money. It has now become overly expensive and way above what you would expect to pay for ok food and basic ambience . No more visits from me - I don’t get ripped off twice .Sharp practise will put them out of business as customers are more savvy than they think and have long memories

They put their prices up ! They didn’t take the 15% vat deduction off ! Before applying the way out discount - which they get back from the Gov anyhow. Food was poor padded out with vegetables and service terrible.

I went there with cousins for dinner. We selected the all you can eat option. This was well organised by the restaurant. We had good food, plenty of choice, the option to order more if desired, lots to eat before the smaller main courses-but enough. Good service too. A very nice evening.

Went there as a small group for the all you can eat option. Starters were very good and decent portions. Main courses were poorly cooked. Green curry was grey and watery and instead of prawns we had ordered, probably contained chicken. It was replaced without question, but the replacement was also grey and watery. Rice was cold and mains arrived piecemeal. Staff were pleasant. Will stick to starters next time.

Good Chinese food. All you can eat is great, albeit a little expensive. Best to go in a larger group where you can share lots of different food and try everything. Service has improved recently.

The food was amazing, cooked to perfection. It is one of my favourite places to eat, it is suitable for veggies aswell.

Oh how pleased we were that Chikayan has reverted to their All you can Eat format. Paying a couple of extra pounds is so worthwhile when we could enjoy as many starters as we could manage! Service was so friendly and the food was as good as it has ever been with piping hot appetizers and really delicious salt n pepper prawns, asparagus and chicken wings. The prawn toasts were moist and the chicken sates generous with a sauce redolent of peanuts and chilli. Can't wait to go back!Our group of three had a lovely time and enjoyed all the dishes with very little going to waste! Welcome back Chikayan!

Eat as much as you like menu was great. Every time we visit the food and service is great. Exceptional value for money.

We popped in after being badly let down at Olivios. Was my daughter’s birthday and they made us so welcome. Food was brilliant as was the service. My daughter even got a birthday candle in her dessert and happy birthday was playing loudly. Great night had by us all.

This was our favourite Chinese 'Eat As Much AsYou LIke For .....' for many years: Last year this changed and it became predominently 'a la carte' with one 'set' option and we looked again at the revised costs: We returned by chance very recently - and the Eat As Much ................. IS BACK!! A slight uplift in price (I guess this should be expected) but JOY, we can now munch on our favourite Chim Y. items, Smoked Chicken etc. etc. This, in my opinion, is one of the best, if not the best Chinese Restaurant in this area- their staff do not pester you, they can discuss sensibly the whole of the menu, what is used in the preparation of menu items, whether they are suitable for certain conditions i.e. diabetes etc. and the quality of the dishes is always exceptional.We will now be returning regularly again - looking forward to that!!

Used to be five star hygiene rating with great food, now down to two star, I have only visited the Hatch end branch. Such a shame, this used to be a wonderful Chinese restaurant. They need to get back to their old high standards.

We visited this restaurant tonight to celebrate my husbands birthday, I wasn't sure what to expect as it has some bad reviews on TripAdvisor but I can truthfully say the food is amazing, service brilliant and its value for money when you choose the All you can eat option. Would definitely visit again.

we loved going to Chikayan in Hatchend. since the change in Menu in Jan 2019, there are very Limited vegetarian options. historically the menu had money bag springroll, veg fried rice or black bean mock duck options. In the new menu options have been very limited indirectly encouraging vegetarians to not visit. I also noticed they are always in a rush to change the table cover while you are sat at the table- very rude. wouldn't recommend anymore mainly cause of the limited veg menu options.

Staff were very friendly and food ok. The annoying thing was that our food didn’t arrive at the same time and we had to wait for several dishes to be served sporadically and without any explanation of which dish was what, which was confusing. Portion sizes were good and some of the food tasty. But I don’t think we will be back.

Ordered a takeaway inc Thai cakes frozen not freshly cooked, satay chicken skewers rubbery as hell, and Katsu chicken that was not fresh. Avoid at all costs VILE

This is a restaurant we used to visit on a regular basis and enjoyed the bustling nature of the restaurant. It used to have a single all you can eat menu at a reasonable price. You had two hours but rarely needed it but you never felt rushed.

We were a party of 7, and so qualified for the £25 /head unlimited buffet. I’ve always been sniffy about a Chinese buffet, but I have completely changed my view after tonight. The food at Chikayan was hot, freshly cooked and delicious. Outstanding dishes were the ribs, the wonton, the smoked chicken and the prawns. The service was impeccable and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening.

Have been coming here for years now with my Mum and other half. Went just over a week ago and was told that unless you were a table of 6 or more you can no longer opt for the All you Can Eat option and are therefore restricted to their a la carte or set menu. The set menu is still relatively good value but it was odd to be so limited to the starters which is what we enjoy the most- we rarely order much of the mains at all. Friendly service as always and the food was good, even with a supplement for the crispy duck, but I will say I am disappointed as we will never be a party of 6- its only the 3 of us and so what we used to really enjoy has been changed. As a result I don't think we will be back as often.

The staff couldn’t have been more polite and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Even our 6 yr old commented on how nice the man was. Praise indeed!

10 mins into dinner and could not believe about how rude Bill was. He got confused with our order and decided to raise his voice and become incredibly snappy and ended up reducing me to tears saying how I looked blank. I am disgusted with how he spoke to me, all because he could not but more importantly would not try to understand our order. It is a real shame as we have come to chikayan a few times and everything has been fine but I was so disappointed with how abrupt Bill was. Connie then came out and was greatly sympathetic. She was a great comfort and her and Amy were the only reason we stayed. Needless to say I didn't see Bill for the rest of the night. I am honestly extremely shocked and saddened that people talk to others like that especially when I was nothing but courteous. The food is decent but let's be honest when you've had Bill shout at you and embarrass you in front of another table it's hard to concentrate on the food.

Chikayan is one of the rare few Chinese buffets that still offers table service, freshly made buffet food. Overall the food is very good and is worth the price. The staff are very friendly and attentive and I would recommend visiting here.

We've eaten here/had take away a few times, and always enjoyed our food, but then we saw the food hygiene rating - yikes! It does put us off going there, but that choice is yours. The food is tasty!

I like this place. Found it after a recent England match at Wembley, so went for the first time. Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, quick service, great prices. This is an "eat as much as you like" experience with a difference. It's not a buffet, food is ordered from a menu but you can order as much, or as little, as you like. The food comes freshly cooked to order, piping hot and boy, it was good. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit and I will be back!

I have been eating in this restaurant almost from the day it opened. Had a lovely meal last Saturday and cannot understand what some past negative reviews are referring to. The service was good and the food was excellent - couldn't fault it. The presentation was fine and the staff were very friendly. Special mention for Connie, Amy, Bill and Vivian. I'll be back real soon!

Great restaurant has been one of our favourite places 4 many years the clientele can be a little bit noisy especially when there is a big table party with mixed ages.

I received exceptional service at Chikayan - the waiter and waitress were incredibly polite and accommodating. The food was lovely too.

Great tasting chinese that is cooked to your order - even though there is a menu to choose from, the food is served hot and freshly prepared to your table as opposed to other Chinese buffets where you help yourself. In all my visits so far, the staff have been receptive and friendly. The food is quick to arrive and the portions are just right - the restaurant doesn't encourage wastage and you can always order more of the same! The crispy duck here is a treat. Excellent veg options too. Can't go wrong for £20pp.

We have eaten at Chikayan many times and also had take-away. Food always good and tasty - very generous portions on the take-away side and lovely place to eat in. Their "one price"menu gives you the opportunity of trying new dishes and we have never been disappointed.

Bad service.....nothing special food...only plus is there is a lot of it....if you like quantity not quality book now...

The food looked unappetising, dried out and was not as tasteful as previous visits. Also the female staff person was slightly abrupt and abrasive (I think this may be a cultural thing), they seemed to be constantly pushing you to choose your dishes leaving you feeling rather rushed. They also kept refilling your wine glasses and asking if you wanted more drinks/bottles of wine probably in an attempt to make more money out of you. The male staff was, very pleasant with better mannerisms and went out of his way to serve a dessert dish for the birthday guest with candles and the Happy birthday song. £17.50 meal cost £35 per head for 6 persons in the end. I won't rush back...

Waitress knocked my glass of wine all over me she said sorry and handed me a napkin. I said I was soaked and all was said was sorry from another waitress and walked off leaving me to clear myself up . Then my menu was snatched from me while i was still reading it,

Have visited here quite often this is about one of the best places around for a all u can eat buffet that is cooked fresh when ordered most of the dishes was good apart from the duck which was mostly fatty and too crispy the staff on this occasion was very friendly and helpful but sometimes they do try and hurry you if it is busy to get more people in we will be returning again

The waitress rushes you they constantly come to your table rushing you to eat also my 8 year old child was charged as an adult so instead of £9 they charged £21 when I argued it thy said they go by highly DISGUSTING my 8 year old certainly didn’t eat £21 worth of food she had a few scewers and some rice !!! Won’t go again

All you like off a decent standard Chine restaurant menu for a set price. Some of the starter items sampled were a bit cheap and cheerful (in the sense, you wouldn't pay good money for them if they were a separate item) and some portions were a bit on the small size. However, in return, the starters were still pretty good, the Crispy Duck and main courses we tried were excellent. Food and drinks service was attentive to excellent so we ended up pleased that we had found this place(our regular was closed) and quite happy with the bill. Will be back for sure. Only observation was not much pork on the menu, especially char sui, but I guess that's due to the area.

Having both eaten here and had take away I think one is better off phoning an order and taking the food home as at least you will be able to heat it up.

Not the most welcoming Chinese restaurant especially at busy times.The waiters appear to be indifferent and the service is very slow.Most of the starters arrived luke warm and th ingredients not the best quality.The crispy duck is overcooked and it took a while before the waiter arrived to shred it.I would not recommend this restaurant to those wanting authentic chinese cuisine.

Although the restaurant has not got the best reviews we decided to visit, as it is local to us . 10 mins drive and opens at 530 pm . It was a Friday Easter Bank Holiday and we didn’t book .
