Second time eating here for a works Xmas meal. Absolutely fantastic menu. Was lucky enough to try a bit of everything that was on offer. Super fresh and super tasty wil be coming back as soon as I can!

Absolutely loved Chido Wey!! The atmosphere and service were really good, but the food was FANTASTIC! Arrive hungry as the portions are very generous. You'll leave stuffed and happy. It was also refreshing to see a halal section in the menu.

As a Mexican I was impressed on the way how very authentic Mexican preparations and ingredients are assembled in a creative way to make great tacos. It's very rare to find restaurants with the right Mexican flavours!

The food was sensational. Really tasty, creative menu and great portion sizes. When my friend and I arrived the place was virtually empty but the server was clearly annoyed at how busy the evening was about to become, and perhaps even annoyed that we tried to get a table without making a reservation. I’ve seen another review that said they felt like a nuisance and that is unfortunately how I felt too. We didn’t mind being squeezed in (before a large booking), and we were very happy to have a few snacks and then move on, but we were constantly reminded we only had the table for a certain time period. It wasn’t the warmest welcome which did taint the experience sadly. It’s a cute place and I’d come again for the food. It’s very popular and there were tens of people who tried to come in and were turned away. It was a shame that the staff were getting visibly annoyed by it all.

Popped in without knowing anything about this place and Wow! wished we lived close so we could go often! Fabulous food and service. We shared two different varieties of Tacos which were fabulous, bursting with flavour. Will definitely be back!

The food was delicious but the burrito was wrapped so poorly that it just disintegrated immediately into a sloppy mess. Also, the can of Coke that I had pissed everywhere upon cracking it open - it had clearly had a recent stint in a washing machine.

Where do I start… I’ve been excited about coming here. First time turned away, second time a success. This is where the good luck ran out. We opted for the beef tacos. Amongst a noisy atmosphere we attempted to eat these potentially over filled tacos… minus a second taco shell for overspill. The beef was extremely dry not much diversity in the seasoning. The green salsa flavourless - we expected to find a selection of hot sauces on the table. Hoping we could add some spice and flavour even considering lubricant for the dehydrated cow that has sadly found it’s self in this state. However this came at a cost. I’m finding it confusing as all the reviews are in positive response. Perhaps a chef quit, or someone messed up their mise en place? All I know is that I’m in the pub desperately trying to wash that taste out my mouth. I wouldn’t recommend.

Massive portions for the price! The beef burrito tasted a lot better than the chicken chorizo (was quite salty) but both still tasted amazing

Food is great, I don't enjoy the feeling of constantly being rushed here. It's not our fault your place is too small to host the number of covers you need to turn a profit. Booked 2 weeks in advance and the waitress initially made us feel like a nuisance. Will return, but not in a hurry. Too cramped and noisy by virtue of being very popular (which is great) and small. Hope they upgrade to a bigger building soon. Plenty of empty ones nearby.

Had a fabulous meal here recently..sat in window and all staff so friendly and helpful and food was delicious! Burritos are really filling as plenty of food on the plate. The starter burrito is absolutely fantastic! So tasty. The churros are also delicious. Would highly recommend and will hopefully be going again! You do need to book as always very busy and quite a small venue. Thank you for a lovely meal which was very reasonably priced also.👍

Amazing food! Also really friendly staff. One of our friends has a spice allergy (our mistake in choosing a mexican) but the staff were friendly and tried to accommodate! Really appreciate it.

Great wee mexican. Staff friendly but I'm not a fan of service charge included aka auto added Good simple menu and staff can tweak stuff to suite those of more delicate plates. Recommend the tacos. Loved my beef ones and the vegan option went down well. Happily visit again and the sticky toffee dip and churros are sublime

Very rude and snobbish server. No smiles at all and unaccommodating. I went there with my daughter and husband and I would not say it’s a restaurant for families, more like for young adults or teenagers. The food was okay, not excellent. I like the nachos but the burritos were too big and not really authentic mexican.

We were 7 mins late due to the weather and we were told we had to rush because a table would be waiting. We felt very rushed throughout the dinner and didn’t have time to get dessert. We were even told that people were waiting as we were getting ready to leave. The food wasn’t bad but the customer service ruined the whole meal. Felt like they overbooked and they used us being late as an excuse.

Beef tacos, beef was a dry and flavourless but generous portions. Tortilla chips with pico de gallo and sour cream was a generous portion but again a bit lacking in flavour and pizzazz. Paloma faith cocktail was delicious. Food came quickly and most of the staff were friendly and nice.

Lovely interior decor made feel welcomed with a great sense of cosiness. We started with a chimichanga each ( Sam had no cheese cos he can’t eat dairy the poor boy ) Our server was lovely and helped little dairy Sam try out the vegan cheese aswell as helping him with his dairy requirements. Then for our mains we shared some chicken tacos, which were a storm of flavours on my mouth. Yum yum yum! My belly was full to the brim! So had to take the chroizo home for the flatmates to dig their teeth into. Overall yummy yummy gobble gobble spicy spicy. Would defo return, I love you Chido Wey

Wow, the food here was amazing! I didn't have high hopes for a mexican place, because they're usually bland and far from proper mexican cuisines, but I was absolutely impressed by the burritos here. The portions are very good and everything is tasty. However, I don't see myself visiting very often, and here is why: the location is tiny and cramped; they have very few option on the menu, so once you've had what you want, there aren't many alternatives; the staff doesn't seem particularly friendly. If they had a bigger, cleaner, nicer atmosphere, I'd be more tempted to come back.

Great place! Barbacoa tasted like real Mexican barbacoa. I had a chorizo burrito and it was good but not quite the Mexican taste. They have Mexican beer so that’s a plus. I recommend it, just don’t get anything with chorizo

Small but perfect menu. Consider eating one half of the burrito and taking other half away for later as they're a decent size and so filling.

We had a couple of delicious plant-based burritos here (one bean and one cauliflower based) in September 2024. Decor is simple. Service is good.

I was really looking forward to a delicious burrito, but what I got was more of a "Burr-NO!" The taste? Let’s just say, if boredom had a flavor, it would be this burrito. The meat seemed to have gone on a date with dryness, and the spices… well, they just didn’t show up. For a moment, I thought I might have accidentally eaten cardboard, but nope – it was definitely the burrito. Maybe the chef was having a bad day, or the spices went on vacation. Either way – I hope the next guest has better luck. Or more ketchup on hand.

Great cosy place to eat. Amazingly good mexican food with very good service. They made a slight error with drinks order and made amends in a very generous way. Loved the atmosphere, though the venue is small so can get noisy very quickly.

Nice little restaurant, we had burritos and some corn as starter, quite big portions which is a big bonus specially when you are hungry. I loved the corn, the sauce was nice and think and tasted quite meaty. If you can I would definitely book in advance as it’s always busy and to walk in and get a table can be challenging.

Best mexican I've had in the UK. Flavours are on point and not overbearing. Good portion size, burrito big enough for 2 people. I had chicken chorizo taco's. Absolutely recommend along with the corn side and nachos starter. Must go if you love mexican food and are in Bristol. You need to book if you want to go in the evening before 6pm.

Had a vegetarian quesadilla with cauliflowers. The food and service were great just a tad bit expensive. 13.90 for the quesadilla

Service was great, nice atmosphere but unfortunately other reviews are right, the main part of the food was average. The best part and pretty much the only thing we'd have again was the Nachos starter, nice size portion, covered in loads of different sauces, brilliant flavours. But went downhill from there, the steak burrito was mainly rice but its always in one place of the wrap, the meat on the other side, which was a bit dry, and unfortunately surrounded by over powering feta, to much feta. The whole thing was dry, please get some of those lovely sauces and flavours from the Nachos and put it in the burrito. The chicken quesadillas were the best out of the main, we'd eat them again but the pulled chicken was a bit dry again. The sift chicken tacos looked great, the taste was good but again the pulled chicken was dry, it all needed some pots of sauce to spoon on or dip. The price was reasonable, would we go again, sorry, No. Only went because the other Mexican up the road didn't open til 6pm. For a small independent place, we expected alot more, had better at Wahaca chain. If I was to base the place just on the starter, it would have been a 5* all the way.

100% recommend Chido Wey. Very tasty burrito, nice atmosphere and staff, quick service. Buckfast Negroni was delicious. Good value for money. Would come back again.

Best burrito I have ever eaten and I eat a lot of burritos, to give some quantitive measurement; it’s about 2-3 burritos each week. Okay sooo I had the chicken chorizo with a hot sauce… there was a sweet taste in the sauce as well… pineapple the lovely lady said. I’m willing to fly again from Iceland just to eat this burrito… I kid you not !

First visit here, and not disappointed! Staff were friendly and very attentive. Food was good, and the menu had plenty on it to mull over. Cocktails were a great addition too 👌

Average. Some bits were nice: chimichanga & were fab, as were the cocktails. Good service. Mains were average, chicken ones were okay, the steak tacos would have been okay without the green sauce & feta - flavour combo really didn’t work. The corn was terrible, served cold and difficult to eat without getting all over your face as it was drenched in sauce. Cost £80 for 2 people.

Fantastic evening here, top rating for food, top rating for service. Would highly recomend if your in the mood for a little taste of mex. The staff were fantastic and the cocktails were spot on. Thank you Chido Wey for a great experience.

Full disclosure. I'm Mexican American from L.A., have been living in the UK for 13 years. This is the best Mexican food I've had here. Super fun menu, flavourful and friendly atmosphere. Def recommend the salad and chimichanga! Oh, and the mezcalita!

It’s a small place, but the food is great. Just stopped for a light bite, had some awesome nachos and the quesadillas. The food was excellent, will definitely go back the next time I’m in the area.

Ordered here on a Saturday afternoon for collection. Partner has been before and said I must try the best Mexican in Bristol. My experience was a little more mixed than that. When I called to order 2 pork burritos, the waitress said they ran out. Fair enough,I thought, Saturday afternoon, busy place, so I asked what they had left. The answer came at a quite rough tone that took me back to my secondary school years when the teacher was asking about the homework: "I'm very busy now have you not looked at the menu online?" "Sorry", I said (ha, you can't catch me teacher, I DID my homework!), "I did but thought you ran out of more things. Anyway, two chicken burritos please." On a positive note it did get ready on time despite the busy Saturday, they even called to let me know it's ready. The quality of the food though must have been influenced by the timing... The burritos were extremely oily, about a cupful of oil dripped out of them while we were eating it. There was a lot of flavour but it felt like they accidentally tipped the entire contents of some of the herb jars into the mixture. No harmony of flavours, just a greasy overly coriandered, cinnamoned, anised or "I can't quite identify what brown-beige spice"-ed kick in the face. Also, one of the burritos was definitely chicken. The other, well, the first questionmark was: "Why is this one purple?" - but oh well, looks don't matter when it comes to burritos. But that chicken weirdly resembled to sweet potato / courgette / aubergine with lots of other vegetables stewed to oblivion. In fewer words: they messed up our order. Which I actually don't mind as the calorie content of the chicken burrito would have been enough for 10 people (98% of it coming from the oil inside) so 3 of us shared that and had the veggie one on the side. I can just imagine the poor -probably vegetarian- person's face when they bit into the chicken burrito that was supposed to come home with us. I probably will give it another go on a weekday, because 1000 good reviews can't be wrong, but on this occasion, sorry guys, you messed it up. My advice (if you read your reviews): when you're this overwhelmed, just stop taking orders on the phone, or take them with a longer preparation time: I wouldn't worry having to wait an hour for collecting my burrito as long as it's a nice one.

Food was mostly very nice, only a couple of mid dishes against mostly very good. Staff were very nice but let the whole thing down when I went for toilet and saw and heard the waitress go to the toilet and then leave without washing their hands then go and serve more food. Good service otherwise

Started off great, with amazing Nachos, lovely staff and good vibs, but the main course was really not for us. So rich and salty that I could barely eat a full taco. And I usually love salt and never throw any meet, but it was just too much. Staff made it up by being genuinely lovely and also taking the tacos off the bill and giving us a free drinks. Would return happily for cocktails and nachos (even though the cheese sauce for that was even a bit much in my opinion, but the rest was wonderful).

First time eating here, burrito was the best I’ve had in the UK. Friendly staff, buzzy atmosphere…I’ll definitely be back!

Incredible food, decent beer. I’m sure it’s good for your immune system as the bar maid sneezed into her hand and didn’t wash her hands, so sure that’s made me stronger. Also, the wobbly loo seat game was a wild ride, so five stars for that. Would love hand towels and a bin in the loo, but that’s just a little gripe. Would highly recommend the food.

Went here on Saturday lunch time and was able to find seating even though it is quite busy. I opted for mother choriza tacos and was blown away by just how good it is! So filling yet so delicious. Service was also excellent.

I've been a few times: some dishes are really great, some are so salty they're bordering on inedible. This doesn't seem to be a one-off thing so personally am done with this place for now. Drinks are a bit overpriced. Noisy and casual atmosphere and service is fairly quick.

Absolutely excellent food. The highlight for me was the corn which had some kind of creamy and spicy sauce and lime juice. Will definitely be coming back here.

Great little place for tasty and imaginative Mexican food, served by friendly and helpful staff. The Elote side was fabulous and my copa views quesadilla super tasty. I much prefer independently operated establishments and this place ticked all the boxes for me.

The time slots for food are very tight, we weren’t allowed to have dessert because we needed to leave the table for the next couple. Our veg meals were partially wrong and not very flavourful, unlike the last time we visited.
