Food was mostly very nice, only a couple of mid dishes against mostly very good. Staff were very nice but let the whole thing down when I went for toilet and saw and heard the waitress go to the toilet and then leave without washing their hands then go and serve more food. Good service otherwise

Started off great, with amazing Nachos, lovely staff and good vibs, but the main course was really not for us. So rich and salty that I could barely eat a full taco. And I usually love salt and never throw any meet, but it was just too much. Staff made it up by being genuinely lovely and also taking the tacos off the bill and giving us a free drinks. Would return happily for cocktails and nachos (even though the cheese sauce for that was even a bit much in my opinion, but the rest was wonderful).

First time eating here, burrito was the best I’ve had in the UK. Friendly staff, buzzy atmosphere…I’ll definitely be back!

Incredible food, decent beer. I’m sure it’s good for your immune system as the bar maid sneezed into her hand and didn’t wash her hands, so sure that’s made me stronger. Also, the wobbly loo seat game was a wild ride, so five stars for that. Would love hand towels and a bin in the loo, but that’s just a little gripe. Would highly recommend the food.

Went here on Saturday lunch time and was able to find seating even though it is quite busy. I opted for mother choriza tacos and was blown away by just how good it is! So filling yet so delicious. Service was also excellent.

I've been a few times: some dishes are really great, some are so salty they're bordering on inedible. This doesn't seem to be a one-off thing so personally am done with this place for now. Drinks are a bit overpriced. Noisy and casual atmosphere and service is fairly quick.

Absolutely excellent food. The highlight for me was the corn which had some kind of creamy and spicy sauce and lime juice. Will definitely be coming back here.

Great little place for tasty and imaginative Mexican food, served by friendly and helpful staff. The Elote side was fabulous and my copa views quesadilla super tasty. I much prefer independently operated establishments and this place ticked all the boxes for me.

The time slots for food are very tight, we weren’t allowed to have dessert because we needed to leave the table for the next couple. Our veg meals were partially wrong and not very flavourful, unlike the last time we visited.

Two hungry kids, one wanting tacos, the other a subway. Tossed a coin and Mexican won. Satnav said go to some generic chain, but I prefer to go to an independent. Was not disappointed. Tacos weren’t available to takeaway, so we ordered a couple of burritos and some nachos. They were tremendous. The chicken burrito was as thick as a baby’s arm and full of flavour, whilst the nachos were beyond delicious. However, the shining glory was the deep fried chimichanga burrito. It was so good I could’ve eaten two of them. Well worth the effort.

10/10 best burrito (both normal and deep fried) I’ve ever had and the nachos were loaded absolutely perfectly!! Portion sizes were amazing, could eat this everyday. Banging, highly recommend

Went here on a Sunny Friday afternoon, and was a nice atmosphere in there, would recommend booking, some people were just having a cocktail outside, and others eating. The “Paloma Faith” is a fantastic cocktail, and the chimichanga and senor bean burritos were the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Wonderful service and was so friendly, all very reasonably priced for Bristol. 5/5

Even extremely accommodating when I was that difficult customer today with constantly fluctuating numbers of people dining. Could not recommend more! If you're in Bristol for any reason, just go here for your meal(s). You won't regret it. Be forewarned: the portions are plentiful!

Maybe I went on a bad night, but between them not having half the things I wanted to order, the pazolé being essentially a bowl of molé, and it just not being the best quality, I don't thing Chido Wey deserves the hype that everyone in Bristol gives it. I did, however, give an extra star from my original score of 2* in food for their house made pineapple and habanero hot sauce, I'd go back to buy that stuff bottled.

Staff accommodated our private event with grace and ease and made us feel very welcome. We couldn’t have asked for better. Food is great for price, massive portions! The tacos are a bit too much mushy components in my opinion, could do with some good crunch but the overall experience were absolutely brilliant.

The food is excellent, i recommend the mezcalita. I am not exaggerating when i say we were waiting with an empty table for at least 40 minutes to pay.

It’s noted that your stated operating hours are from 12:30-10 pm. However, upon our arrival at 3 pm, whoever it was guarding the door while chatting away tells us it’s closed and will open at 4pm instead - no reason given whatsoever as the conversation with the other person seems to be more important. Please update your operating hours. There wasn’t anything on your socials about this change of hours, even your website allows reservations before 4 pm. What a joke

Great atmosphere, good food and great selection of cocktails

Absolutely loved this place and food. I would recommend to everyone to get Eloitè which is a side but you can ask for it as a starter. It is a half of cob corn covered in some amazing sauce. I also tried quesadilas, nachos, tacos and loved everything. It is a small place inside but very cozy. Staff were great and friendly too. Plenty of parking on the street outside. Book in advance!

Been wanting to eat here for ages and was not disappointed! Mexican isn’t my favourite cuisine but the offering here was enough to change my mind… The chimichanga was great and the seasonal offerings went down well with my friend too. The prices are so reasonable for such generous portions. The vibe inside is intimate but not stuffy and staff are friendly! Divine!

A mixed review! Had been excited to go for such a long time but the experience wasn't exactly as expected. We were asked to wait 5mins for our table to be ready which was absolutely fine by us but then when some of our friends were 10 or so mins late we were really made known about it!! Everyone really enjoyed the food 😊 but one of our waitresses was so sassy and rude.. She even eyerolled one of our friends when we called her back to ask for a water jug refill and were reminded we couldn't have starters cos we were late. Would go back for the food but would hope we wouldnt get the same waitress 🙄

The food was great, but the portion sizes for a main are really small. Definitely factor in paying for two mains if you want to feel as though you've had more than a starter. Also, what's going on with the lighting? The most amount of lighting fixtures I've seen in a restaurant, none of them switched on and table only lit with a tealight. Couldn't actually see what we were eating.

If you like Mexican this is your place. Spectacular

Tacos and Burritos are excellent. I would say its all a bit pricy for what you're getting, but everything is now. Flavours were lovely and smoky for both thr pulled pork and Senor Bean vegetarian option. Service and atmosphere are both great.

It didn't taste like the Megushico style burrito I was expecting, it tasted more like Indian curry, and there was no choice of burrito type. There are three types of vegan burritos to choose from, but there are two types of meat on the menu, and they are forced to offer only the chicken burrito. Furthermore, more than half of it was filled with rice and black beans. I had high expectations as I was told that this is the most popular burrito restaurant in Bristol, but personally I was disappointed. The restaurant's interior and service may be good, but if the food is bad, you're out. The price is relatively high for a burrito, and there is a service charge, and even if it is below my impression, it is not delicious and I am not satisfied. I won't go there again.

It’s alright. Nachos were lovely and the chainsmoker cocktail nice. However, the main part of the meal we were most looking forward to, the burritos, were a let down and lacked flavour. Maybe we went on an off-day? Not on par with the reviews and how much we paid. The burritos from Mission Burrito, now closed on park street (but still deliver), were much better, albeit from a fast food place too..

Checked out this incredibly popular Mexican restaurant in Bristol, and it was truly worth the visit. Went for dinner around the Date of the Dead, and the vibe was spot on with all the cool decor and candles. Tacos were decent, though I'm more of a crispy tortilla fan. The standout dish was undoubtedly the pork shoulder quesadillas. The cheese and pork combo was mouthwatering, and that hummus dip on the side is also absolutely banging. Had the mezcal cocktail too – not as smoky as usual, but still a well-balanced drink. Overall, a fab dining experience.

I'd been wanting to go to Chido Wey for ages after being recommended it by so many friends and wow I was not disappointed! Really authentic atmosphere, staff were super friendly and the food was absolute delicious - some of the best Mexican I've ever had. Portion sizes were big enough I had to take some home for lunch the next day. Sadly didn't get to try the cocktails as I was doing sober October but my partner said his was one of the best he'd had

Im really sad to be having to edit my original 5* review, but this place has really gone downhill in my last few visits. Not in the quality of food, but the prices are just ridiculous. I understand everything is going up in cost, but they’ve now removed tortilla chips from the side included in the main price. The person who served me told me they’d brought the main costs down as the sides were going to waste, however a year ago a main with tortilla cost £10.90. This visit was £12.90 for the main plus £3.90, YES 3.90 FOR TORTILLA AND DIP….. Meaning a main is now running you £16.80. I’m sorry but that is ridiculous! We’re not even in town centre and that is way more than good quality food you can get elsewhere. The flavours are still great but not worth over £15 for a dish. They’ve also added a mandatory tip to the bill. I would always tip here as the service was great but things like this annoy me when the food costs are already extortionate. Unfortunately i now have to pull this to a 4* and I won’t be visiting again. (original review still below - I hope they can sort this out) Quite honestly the best tacos I’ve had in my life. Lovely service too. Definitely coming back!

Everything about this place is amazing! Customer service was great, they recommended the best dishes for us to try as we haven't had much experience in mexican food. And when the food came... Wow! It had sooo much flavour and fresh ingredience. My mouth is watering already after thinking about the food there... I will be back for sure!

The dishes here are both generous and delicious, satisfying my cravings for spice and citrus! The cocktails are dangerously good and goes down too well. I wish I had a better photo to show how big the burrito was and the sauces are a must!!!

Easily the best burrito I've ever had. I had the señor bean. The depth of flavour was unbelievable. Smokey, spicy, tomato, creamy, garlicky, the occasional hint of coriander. Spectacular. Came with a serving of tortilla chips with the deepest smokiest chipotle. Good addition to the burgeoning Old Market area, which these days is becoming almost like the Gloucester Road. Beautiful old buildings and indie shops. Chido Wey also has a great cocktail selection plus local and Mexican beers. Will definitely be back.

A favourite lunch spot for my work team(s); truly exceptional burritos, loads of great cocktails, fun decor/vibe, great service. Quite small - so either call ahead if you have a large party or plan on waiting - and most tables sit two or four. Very busy almost all times I've been there so plan ahead! Have had both meat and vegetarian dishes here - both excellent - so no matter your dietary preferences you should find something delightful at Chido Wey.

Had large nachos to share, which are probably the best nachos we've ever had, a Carne-val and Mother Chorizo Buritto, which were both too filling so end up taking 2 halves back to the hotel (great post-drink snack later on). The Margaritas were delicious as well. A lovely meal, would rush back next time we're in Bristol.

Chido Wey has a friendly staff and their food is delicious. If you enjoy this kind of food then you really need to check it.

Impressively rude service. Walked in and was told they were fully booked. When i suggested to take away and sit down while i wait for the food the lady said that was impossible - with 5 empty tables surrounding us. I ordered anyway and sat at the bar next door. When i collected my food 3 tables in the place were still empty. Hospitality is kind of important in a restaurant. Almost comedic.
