Best chinese restaurant in SE London. Beats Xi'an in Orpington. Sizzling Kind Prawns with Black Pepper sauce are 15/10.

Every item was bland and greasy. The beef and ribs were chewy and the spring rolls and prawn crackers stale. This a very steep a surprising drop in quality.

Very disappointing. Egg fried rice was so burnt - almost black !. Chow mein had a weird bleach like taste to it and the hong kong style pork had no flavour . Only edible items were the chicken dumplings and salt and chilli prawns. Massive disappointment as we had ordered from this restaurant quite some time ago and it was wonderful. Would definitely not order again . Very over priced and poor quality meal

I must say this restaurant was excellent … I ordered through Deliveroo and there were no drivers. They stayed open 30 mins past their closing time to ensure I received my food and kept me updated by phone throughout Excellent customer service

Yet again, items are missing from our order, and there is no way of getting a refund! Chi Oriental doesn't answer the phone on the day of the order and pleads ignorance thereafter. There is no way to report missing items via the Just-Eat app because, after going through the process for reporting missing items, they just advise you to call the restaurant. Please don't use Just-Eat or Chi Oriental because you will inevitably receive orders with missing items, and you will have to accept that you won't be able to do anything about it. Alternatively, opt to pay cash and check all items in your order before paying.

This place has gone seriously downhill. Both soups that I ordered were very poor quality. Ingredients that are hardly expensive anyway were just absent. This used to be a good place. Worth zero stars.

Awful restaurant and terrible customer service! I placed an order and specified no shrimp only for them to add shrimp! When I called the restaurant to exchange my order the woman on the phone was disgustingly rude! I had to drive to the restaurant to prove they got my order wrong and even then she REFUSED to exchange my order. After 20 minutes of arguing with staff the lovely chef at the back apologised and made me a new order. Absolutely appalled with the service!

Everything was lovely and hot and fresh,best takeaway we have had from here,as our favourite Chinese ,it always good.

Despite the price ( due to inflation) the amount of food is a very generous amount and was delicious. The food arrived hot, all the meat was tender and cooked perfectly. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and will order from them again. Well worth the money I spent.

The lady from Chi Oriental contacted me and ask wld I like my food earlier and if not then I can receive it on the time specified when ordered. I asked for it to be delivered earlier, the food was delicious, hot, well packed for delivery . The lady was polite and patient. Would definitely order from there again

Food was packed really well! Arrived really fast, smelled amazing, piping hot and was delicious. Definitely recommend, will order again.

Food was good and warm but arrived more than an hour after order was placed. Restaurant claimed they received a different ticket time 🤷‍♀️ or perhaps driver was lost. Not a usual occurrence. It’s always on time which is why we order frequently.

Always our go to for Chinese takeaway. The food arrives very quickly, is always hot and delicious. Also the most reasonably priced

The mixed chocked with vegetables were meh. The spicy shredded chicken, chow mien and starters was perfection though.

Food was good, delivery was 20m late but it was still hot.

The quality here has really dropped. There is no consistency in the quality as there used to be. Looks like they just serve you whatever they have instead of what you ordered.

Very little flavour, which is a shame, since two years ago ( when it first opened, I thought it was as the best Chinese restaurant in the golden triangle.

Good delivery time. 2nd time now restaurant has not sent a sauce that comes with a dish and what happened to the Prawn Crackers they always used to send !. Otherwise food hot and good.

Always sceptical about ordering Chinese take away as I don’t think it travels well. This place always delivers. My new favourite!

Decided to order a meal in for a change on Mother's Day. I can honestly say this was one of the best if not the best Chinese meal I've eaten. Everthing cooked to perfection. Delicious and hot. The starter with the chicken and satay sauce just yum. Thankyou.

I usually love Chi. But food was delivered super quick and my order was not to normal standard! Prawns undercooked and noodles went great! Such a shame as I order here often!

I was extremely disappointed with my previous order not because of the food, but because of how long it took and stupid me, I didn't take into consideration that it was New Year's Eve! I was tired and hungry after a long day at work and just wanted to enjoy the rest of the evening quietly with my favourite meal. I knew it was just a one-off so I thought I'd order from them again this evening and I am delighted that I did! Thank you, Chi Oriental! You will always remain my first port of call for Chinese food in my neighbourhood! 😊

Always great food and friendly service.

This is the restaurant I favour for Chinese and is always fantastic. I always request that no onions are added to the dishes, which is noted and the food is fantastic. This order was ruined as full of onions in each dish despite my calling the establishment to check my request on the order re onions was received and noted. We were advised someone would call back. They did and we were told all was in order. The vast majority of the food was discarded - circa £50 wasted! So disappointing!!

The ETA of my food was between 20:00 - 20:20. It is now 21:12 and it has not arrived. I have tried calling the restaurant all this time and when it's not engaged, no one is picking up the phone. I received a text message saying it was being delayed and I can expect my food at around 20:45...the text message arrived after that time. What is going on? Extremely disappointing. I would like a refund as I don't have my order up to now.

We had to wait over an hour and a half for our food, despite being quoted a time of between 25-40 mins. The app said that the food had arrived on two different occasions. We phoned the restaurant after an hour and they said it would be a further 10 - 15 mins. The food arrived 30 mins later.

Food OK, order due at 8.20-8.40pm,hadn't arrived by 9pm so called restaurant, told driver was stuck in traffic, would be 20-25 minutes, 9.40pm still nothing so reported late on app, still nothing by 10pm, called again, told driver on way and would be 10 minutes, arrived just before 10.20pm, 2 hours late! Requested money back, restaurant said no, they were "sorry for being busy than usual"... In short decent food, awful service...

The order was late and there was no apology from the delivery driver. As well as that, my order was wrong as I ordered quarter duck vermeilli and got pancakes. I was also missing, chilli oil from my order. I couldn't get through to the restaurant to let them know about the mistake.

It never turned up. I had to go to the restaurant . Appalling service from just eat and the restaurant. The number you put down does not go through to the restaurant. I want a full refund and an explanation of what went wrong and how the ordering process can be rectified so it doesn’t happen in future.

I have used Chi Oriental for many years and was always happy with the food..until my last visit, the food was terrible, no flavour to the chow mein, Kung po chicken was NOT Kung po chicken and the shredded chilli chicken was batter only no chicken in it, i complained the next day as i ordered my food pretty late and was entertaining guests and didn't want to call whilst i was with them.. The response from Chi oriental was i should of save the food so they could see what it taste like and they refused to give me even a part refund. CUSTOMER LOYALTY CLEARLY MEANS NOTHING TO THIS RESTURANT. EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

Amazing food best Chinese in south London

The app told us it was delivered I called to find out what was happening as we hadn’t received-they then told us an item on our order was not available. Total waiting time 1 1/2 hours from ordering. Always the same when you don’t order directly with the restaurant.

The food did not come there number is always busy I was finally able to give them my card details in order for them to refund the money

Over 1.5 hours late. Ordered at 5pm - delivered at 7.30pm. 2nd time ordered and 2nd time late. Will not order again. Refused to give money back even though I requested it

The curry sauce is on point! I’ve tasted many and always go back to this. Yes it’s pricey but so worth it. Chilli king prawns with curry sauce is delicious. Had to order two pots this time. Lovely workers too.

We all had upset stomachs after this Chinese. A real shame.

My advice is don’t use just eat for this restaurant. 90 minutes later, no food. It’s a great restaurant but the just eat experience is terrible and when it goes wrong, they won’t refund you.

We were visiting family and had planned on going to another restaurant nearby but when I read the bad reviews I suggested the Chi Oriental. Well I made the right choice!! We had Duck in plum sauce, sizzling chicken and black pepper and chicken with green pepper. These were served piping hot to the table by the chef and served on hot plates ( a must according to my husband). The food was fresh and delicious, my only wish is that they could move to the south coast where I live!!

amazing food and customer service. the manager maximus was very pleasant however, the driver scott was very rude towards the staff, such as insulting the staff in a loud voice.

Second time we've ordered and second time they've messed it up. The guy on the phone has no idea and waited over half an hour to get the right food, by which point the rest of the order is ruined. No apology, no acknowledgement. No order from us again.

Chow mein was noticeably over salty, the king prawn balls were really fresh, salt & chilli chicken wings didn't have the authentic flavour you get from many other Chinese restaurants. I'm not sure about this one.

I ordered two ‘special fried rice’ meals and received a rice dish without the additional meat that was meant to be in it. Instead we got rice with chunks of meat we were totally unaware of!

Delicious, fresh and tasty. Szechuan Aubergines were a fantastic veggie course, as was the vegetable Singapore noodles. Chi never disappoints

Will never order from here again! Ordered vegetarian food and found prawns in it. Obviously put us off. Phoned to complain and got accused of trying to scam them and get my money back. I hadn’t even asked for a refund. I was just telling them as it is a serious mistake. Manager was incredibly rude to me.

Took 2 hours to come! When we contacted them them said its normal for a friday and saturday with no apology. We only live down the road so good luck if you order from far.

We ended up waiting 2 hours for our food to be delivered and when it arrived they had got the order wrong!

I have been a customer of Chi Oriental for many years and as usual ordered again. I received the order confirmation at 18.17 saying the estimated delivery time was 19.07. It wasn’t until the order was late that I went back onto the just eat app and it updated to 19.48. That time passed so I called the restaurant directly to complain. The woman that I spoke to was really quite rude and blamed just eat for not updating their app. She took no responsibility for the delay in the delivery and offered no partial refund. The food finally arrived at 19.55 only to find there was an item missing. I called again and they said they would send it as soon as the driver arrived back. 25 minutes later, it had still not arrived so I called and cancelled the item. The original woman that I spoke to was again quite rude in offering a refund for the item and taking the card details. I have no problem with the food, but the service and delivery were absolutely appalling. Will I order from them again...I think I’ll try elsewhere. 1 hour 45 minutes late...VERY disappointed

After 1,5 hour of waiting, we received a message saying that our order was cancelled, when i called them an operator said that the restaurant had to close, and then hanged up. Worst service ever, do not order from them!!!

I recommend this restaurant, but be careful on a weekend they are very busy. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Tasted good, but if you like sweet and sour sauce which if I wanted that sauce I would have ordered sweet and sour. Kung PO prawn was not kung po sauce. Food was slightly cold but probably sat around waiting for a driver. 6/10. Duck, seaweed was nice.... probably better than most Chinese round here

I have used this restaurant many times so believe this was just a New Year’s Eve blip. However the duck was tough and the rice was luke warm

2 hours 10 minutes late, took an hour to get the restaurant on the phone and they made no effort to apologize or do anything to compensate.

We ordered from them online, after an hour I was told the food would arrive within 30 minutes. It did not, it never came and then they said it had been delivered. Then another drama to get a refund. I like the food but we will not order from here again!

Food delivered very, very late. Restaurant was not answering its telephone. My toddler was very hungry, and very late to bed. I was refused a refund despite all these factors.

When I’ve called to give them another chance, they refused any discount and in fact suggested that should have never been offered to me and that I must be calling the wrong place. This is the second time we have ordered from Chi and I have to say, we were not disappointed. From getting help on the phone re allergies, to the perfect handover from the driver (no spillage). The food was freshly cooked, piping hot, generous portions and so, so tasty. Would 100% order from Chi again. M.

The service is normally decent but on this occasion i ordered half a crispy Duck and I received a quarter crispy duck which meant not enough to go round; and the meal was significantly delayed by up to an hour. The food standard is very good only to be spoilt by poor service

Food was supposed to be delivered at 7.30 but was delivered at 8.50 and cold.

Food is usually good, but not so this time, sesame toast was too hard to bite through and prawns in batter were all shell. Was like no effort was made. Not usual for this restaurant, so 1 more try maybe 🤔

Hi there, I was missing a spring roll in my order last night. I didn't call as I had a guest here.

We ordered the food at 6.26 and it still hasn’t been delivered at 8.00. This is unacceptable. The app showed it was delivered which it hasn’t been and we’ve had to call the restaurant. we won’t be using the app or ordering from this restaurant again. We still don’t have the food.

Clean, light, flavourful and just the right amount. Really excellent.

Probably the best Chinese takeaway locally. The chow mein noodles are particularly good quality, not and the mixed starters were really good too. Highly recommended.

Great food, generous portions and the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful when we called re allergy information. My only negative was the delivery, hence 5 rather than 6 stars. Unfortunately, all of the Items we ordered, which contained sauce, all spilt into the bag, soiling all of the containers packed inside. This is an obvious driver issue - maybe the restaurant could 'advise' their drivers' to take a bit more care when delivering orders. I would still definitely order from Chi Oriental again though, simply because the quality of their food is excellent.

Delivery was very late, and we initially received the wrong order. Situation was rectified, and the food was good when we received it.
