Love this restaurant, we go there quite often. Would recommend the Taiwanese sausage or the Dolsot Bibimbap.

The dim sum tasted very average. Like store bought and over steamed so the har gow was a bit mushy. The siew mai was alright but nothing to rave about.

Been here twice and always had a good experience. The place might be tiny, but it gives it a cozy feel. The food is good but overpriced in my opinion. The only food that's worth the price is the bibimbap. I would definitely recommend the Hong Kong milk tea.

Thought I'd treat myself to a Chi Meal but was very disappointed. The chicken was so dry and rubbery. There was no sauce and the meal bland and dry, Not worth the £6.30 that I paid for it. Will not be going back :(

Lots of unique dishes not really available in similar style restaurants. The HK French toast was AMAZING. I had the food delivered and it took a bit of time but it was well worth the wait. Well worth a visit if the food was this good delivered!!

The best bit of the food here is that it’s not greasy and the white rice was perfect. Otherwise it was all unremarkable in that everything we tried (dumplings, congee, tofu katsu curry, beef curry, beef noodle soup, and milk tea) lacked flavor. It wasn’t inedible but it wasn’t enjoyable. The curries came with some sad seasoned chips and a tasteless boiled cabbage salad, the soup was lukewarm, and the Hong Kong milk tea was nothing like Hong Kong milk tea ( I lived in HK for 7 years and drank milk tea most days of the week.)

Menu had a large selection however reasoning for four stars is due to the small portions given. Price was fair however a larger portion would've been a 5/5. Bubble tea was great and cannot fault. Cosy and nice atmosphere.

This food bar is unique in Coventry, not expensive, and the food is good standar. I first tried Chi baR when I arrived to work in Coventry four years ago, and have kept coming back from time to time or when passing by. I always have it as a maybe. The people running it have changed over time, but it remains as Chinese or Japanese food on the go. You can also try eating in if there is a spare seat which gives you time to appreciate your needles for rice meal hot with some tea, bubble tea, or can of drink.

Went for dinner on my own here. Was surprised to learn they shut at 8 but they were happy for me to order to eat in when I arrived at 7.30. Great value and loved the food. Tiny place with only a handful of seats but no-one else there so plenty of space (but no customer toilet!). Had chicken katsu with rice, chips and prawn and pork dumplings, with a drink and it was less than £10, even with the card charge.

Always excellent for some authentic dishes from Japan and Korea. Great place for quick lunch. A real gem for Coventry. They will cook anything fresh, or you can grab a selection of ready prepared takeout dishes. Not much seating so more of a place to grab something quick to eat. Reminds me of time spent travelling in Korea and the Asian restaurants in Melbourne. They also do specials to keep things fresh. Recently had a Beef Bibimbap and it really hit the spot. Matched dishes I'd had in Korea. Good for a bubble tea as well. love it.

The food is decent and portions just right. The Hong Style French toast was delicious and so was the korean spicy rice cakes. The menu boosts real homely foods that usually students eat like the noodles with ham, sausages and egg. The price is pretty good too for the food you get. The place looks new and is very small. There is a bar area with coat hooks underneath and a small table for 4 people so it's not for large gatherings. The only issue I had was the bubble tea pearls weren't sweet or done very well. The tea itself was great. But having recently been to Malaysia and having drank real pearl tea, it wasn't quite right. We would definitely come back again for food.

Coventry is home to 4500 Chinese Students studying at the University. Several small cafe type eateries have sprung up to cater for them. They serve hong-style street food. The other day, I passed by " Chi Bar" - and was surprised to learn that its a Taiwanese/Korean/Chinese fusion bar.I settled for Chicken Bento box - £6.50, comes with aromatic rice, Chicken in hot sauce, Korean Kimchee ( pickles) and steamed but cold vegetables. Quite filling and nice though I would have prefered hot steamed vegetables. All fare was topped with perfect sunny side up fried egg - how an earth does one eat egg yolk with chopstick. I noticed Chinese customers used yolk as a dip. When in Chinese cafe eat as chinese eat!The staff were very young, cheerful and helpful. I had gone in late night and was only one left in the restaurant. All around the staff were clearing up but they did not rush me. It is small in size and probably best for take away as there is not much seating space. Food I ordered was good and will go in again to try some of other items on the menu. First visit did give me good impression.

We really enjoy the food from the Chi Bar. My partner and I feel that this is more of a treat for a special occasion. The food is expensive but to a reasonable quality. It is a small venue so we after one experience of eating in, we now have learnt to take away. This deducts from the quality of the experience. The service here is ok. There is better I would consider, however it is a place I would return to.

I've been going for the last few months, sometimes a couple of times a week.I watched them turn down two couples one night claiming they shut at 7 - indeed their times were advertised until 8 so i was surprised. Particularly given others had ordered just a few minutes previous.Anyway tonight i went with my OH at 6.22. The door was open, there were two groups waiting for food. I browsed the menu - which has changed and doesn't look like for the better - when a rude young woman came up and snapped at us "we're closed - shut at 6".I said but your times say 8. "We change" was her reply.Downright rude and i can only imagine the real purpose of a food business that closes before 6 particularly on a Friday.I won't be back. I think considering the only white people I've seen in there have been turned away while asian people get to order and wait (seriously how come other customers were waiting for their order at 6.22 if you shut at 6?) that this is simply a racist and rude establishment.

After walking past this place quite a bit I thought I'd treat myself. The place is a little 'compact' so getting to the counter was not the easiest.I ordered from the specials board next to the counter, and ordered the Teriyaki Duck with Egg Fried Rice with a bottle of Fanta, all came to just under £10.When I tried to pay by card, I was informed there was a 3% charge for all debit/credit cards under £10. Normally in any restaurant, if they indeed have a charge its usually set to come to the same price as a main and a drink, £10 seems very high, and a 3% charge is very steep especially for debit cards! To knock it over the £10 I ordered the Salt & Pepper wings.Sitting down at the high tables was an interesting experience, especially as they use plastic-form high chairs. The food arrived within a reasonable time, the food wasn't as great as I would have expected for the price. The duck was a bit too dry that it was chewy, the egg fried rice wasn't anything to write home about, though the presentation was very good.As for the wings, again dry, I could taste the salt and the peppers, however the taste of the actual chicken was gone and replaced with something that would have been bland in flavour if it wasn't for the salt & peppers.Sadly, this is probably the best you'll get in Coventry, so for me, I'll stick with travelling to Birmingham or London for a decent Fusion bar.Date of visit: 10th October (approx. 2pm)

The little pictures sold me and I told my friend, she was excited too so I took her there for her BirthdayWhen we went at 18:00 on Saturday it was quite quiet and we easily found a table to ourselves. The staff were very friendly and helpful in letting us know how to order and what certain parts of the meal were. The surroundings were clean, bright, modern and comfortable with plenty of chopsticks, knives and forks, napkins, soy sauce and chilli sauce. Our food came quickly, was piping hot and looked lovely, well presented in modern fun pastel coloured bowls. My Pepper and Salt wings were very tender, the skin was well cooked and the flavouring was spicy and very yummy. My Chicken Katsu Curry was nicely cooked, the bread-crumbed chicken was tender, the sauce was sweet and tangy and the sushi rice was very moreish! My friend had Pan Fried Dumplings and 8 Treasures in Black Bean Sauce with a Strawberry Bubble Tea. We kept saying that we would have lunch in here before our trip to Japan & China and today was a free day. Very small dining area but food was quick, large portions, well priced and excellent to taste.I think it as a compliment to the place that there seemed to be a lot of young Chinese people eating, here which can only be a good sign at how authentic the food is. There seemed to be the standard drinks such as Coke, but I had a rice and Almond juice drink which was amazing and like nothing I had ever drunk before. We will definitely make this an in town location when we fancy a quick bite to eat.

I had the treasure in black bean sauce which I thoroughly enjoyed I even asked for a take out box to enjoy the left over at home. This place is very small but if you want a quick bite then it is great. You need a full hour's lunch break as food does take quite a long time to come out.Great range of dim sum and rice/noodles. I would go as far to say that it is nicer and fresher than a lot of restaurants I've been to.The dim sum in particular was piping hot and tasty. Like I said earlier, the main downside is that the place is so small and if you are not chinese you may feel a little out of place in here...bit dont let that put you off. Went to Chi Bar based on other reviews. We were surprised at exactly how small the restaurant was - practically a wide corridor with one wall lined with 9(?) stools along a counter opposite two very small (no more than three seats with one plate or bowl each). Regardless, the small space doesn't seem to hinder their success as there was a steady flow through the door. Reminiscent of a very clean Asian food stall - and well patronised by the Asian community (which speaks volumes about how good it is!)There was a good selection of food at good value. Children enjoyed fried dumplings, the pork burger, and of course the bubble tea (mango w juice balls). The chicken dom was good and the wanton soup was very mild, but easily spiced up w condiments. We did find it difficult to choose what to have as it all looked tasty!I would like to go again and sample more of the menu, but do to Chi Bars space issue I would reconsider going in again with more than two (young) children. As it was we had to sit at a table as well as along the wall counter.
