Chez Jerome Restaurant in Central Bedfordshire

Went for a valentines dinner and had a lovely time, we both could not believe we had not thought to go sooner, and as soon as we left said we would definitely be back again soon. The interior of the restaurant is very pretty, and was decorated very nicely for valentines. We had the 3 course set menu, which was reasonably priced and tasted lovely. The service was also fantastic, being very attentive. Would highly recommend a visit.

It's been a fair few years since we last visited Chez Jerome. It used to be one of our favourite haunts. Sadly, it should have remained a fond memory. The food was truly dreadful. The French onion soup was just tepid boiled onions, the snails were over cooked and chewy, and the mains consisted of a reheated lamb shank, poorly cooked fish and barely cooked vegetables. The restaurant used to be with filled with diners at candle-lit tables. It was warm, busy and welcoming. Now it's brightly lit and mostly empty. The staff were nice, though they failed to notice that we barely touched our food. We won't be going back.

We used to come around 1-2 times a year before Covid and suddenly remembered it. Sadly, it's nowhere near as good as it used to be. Vegetables hard and undercooked, snails overcooked and therefore super-chewy. Bland food that (apart from the fish) was clearly reheated. We suggest that they get in earlier and actually cook the food from fresh.

Always great to eat here. Warm and family friendly. A fantastic restaurant for Dunstable and well worth a visit. We always like to support Chez Jerome, another business hit hard by covid.

Lovely intimate hotel with even lovelier food. I had the festive set menu and each course was really good, especially the duck leg in orange sauce.

This was my very first visit to Chez Jerome, I visited with a friend and we were made very welcome. We sat at table no 1 in the window, which looked very Christmasy. We had a extensive menu to choose from. We both chose the festive 3 course menu. I had smoked kipper for starter, my friend chose melon and prawn cocktail. Both were absolutely delicious. We were also served fresh baked small baguette type slices So tasty we finished the lot off! For our mains I chose salmon with seasonal vegetables, my friend chose duck also with seasonal vegetables. The size of the meal was deceiving, there was plenty and we both struggled to get through it, again both were cooked to perfection. Dessert was an amaretto espresso coffee dessert followed by a lovely liquor coffee,I had TIA Maria and my friends had baileys. We also had a glass of water and I had a glass of rosé wine and my friend had a soft drink. The price of the whole meal was very reasonable for what we had. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. My experience here for the first time was really good, I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and we were made very welcomed. Visited Chez Jerome for a birthday celebration meal. The food, service and ambience were first class. I liked the fact that the food was served absolutely piping hot and on a plate or dish that again was very hot. The whole experience was excellent. I will be visiting again most definitely.

We met for a celebratory Family lunch and chose to eat from the seasonal menu. It was superb. We had 3 courses taking advantage of the range of dishes. All were beautifully presented with generous portions, flavoursome and hot. The latter is not always the case with a large group having different dishes. The service was attentive but not intrusive and the whole experience could not be faulted. All this at a very reasonable price. Very highly recommended. We will certainly return.

Beautiful food, have visited a couple of times and both visits the food was fantastic. Beef fillet cooked to perfection. Roast duckling also, and big portions. Excellent starters and the crepe suzette oh yeah. Highly recommend probably the best restaurant around the area.

Fabulous dinner and with pianist too

Beautiful food. Served how I liked it. I’m new to French cuisine, have been twice before. And I asked for the peppercorn sauce to be separate. I wanted to see if I would like it. I loved it. The family who owns this restaurant, and waitress make you feel warm and welcoming. I cannot wait to come back again, and try something else. I definitely recommend coming here.

I went to Chez Jerome this evening with 5 colleagues. We all ordered different things for starter, main and dessert and there was not a single complaint for any dish. My meal was one of the best I have eaten in a long time. Great service and fantastic food - highly recommended! Thank you 😊

Decor is gorgeous and the atmosphere was lovely and really beautiful set up, but food was really disappointing, bland and tasteless. The staff was lovely it was a full house with only 2 people on the floor and they did amazing. Unfortunately I won't be going again unless they change the food.

We always visit Chez Jerome on birthdays and our anniversary. The food is incredible and the service excellent. If you want a really special meal, you cannot go wrong. The crepes Suzette flamed at your table are amazing.

Searched for fine dining and Chez Jerome came up. I interacted with the proprietor via messenger and WhatsApp (they answered both timeously) We were delighted with the reception we received. The table was set to celebrate husband’s birthday. I loved the touch. Service was excellent. The ambience was good. The food was good. All in all it was memorable and the restaurant deserves the praise.

We went here for a golden wedding anniversary. The food and portions were very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We held a lunchtime celebration for our Golden Wedding at Chez Jerome yesterday. Everything was wonderful. The decorations were beautiful and the food and service really good. There were 47 of us and everyone had a great time. Chez Jerome worked so hard to ensure that we had a special celebration. I recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a small to medium size venue for a special event. Thank you Chez Jerome!

My wife and I had a two course dinner at the Chez Jerome on a Wednesday. Although my wife and don't like crowded restaurants, there were only two other tables occupied on this evening and some might find it a little too quiet. This is the fewest covers we've encountered here over the years, and the first time we've been on a Wednesday, so I can't say whether the two things are related. Both a set and an a la carte menu are available - copies of their menus can be found online. The quality, portion size, and presentation are very good. I think the price of the meal represents excellent value for money - and have no qualms recommending it.

Loved the place! Amazing atmosphere very classy! Very friendly and helpful staff. We’ve had a onion soup, halloumi with beetroot salad and venison steak, everything was very tasty & perfectly cooked! I’m definitely coming back there to try more dishes and would highly recommend for everyone looking for French cuisine

We had a lovely meal for Mothers Day at Chez Jerome. All 7 of us thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course meal. We received excellent attentive and friendly service from all of the front of house staff. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the theme and there were chocolate gifts and lovely balloons for the mums. Thank you, we will definitely visit again!

There are such a lot of very good points about this little restaurant. It was spotlessly clean, well laid out and the staff were really polite and attentive. I was very happy with my meal. I had the Pate, lamb filets, and the crepe Suzette which I would highly recommend. The waitress flambéed it at our table which I thought was a nice touch. My husband wasn’t so happy with his starter of salmon and prawn roulade. It was a strange sort of miniature prawn cocktail with lots of chopped up lettuce inside and wrapped in a slice of smoked salmon. He enjoyed his sirloin steak main but his pudding was a real let down. He ordered raspberry jelly and instead of the lemon sorbet he had chocolate ice cream. What we didn’t expect was a tub of long life jelly the sort you put in a kids packed lunch upturned onto a plate with a scoop of ice cream and a sliced strawberry. But saying that it did give us a good laugh. We also had a nice full basket of bread and were offered a complementary liquor after our meal which was I thought another rather nice touch. As it is marketed as a French restaurant it would have been nice to have a bit of French ambiance with softer lighting and maybe some French background music. I would definitely go back but my husband wouldn’t.

My husband and I celebrated my 60th birthday with friends. We all thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meal. Even though the restaurant was busy our meal arrived on time and staff were friendly. Lovely local restaurant in Dunstable.

My partner and I attended Valentine’s Day the first time we have been. First off every table apart from us received bread . Starter where ok but my main fillet of beef asked medium served well done . But second time was cooked as asked . After finished main waited 25 minuets till asked if we would like desert. Cheese board came as cheese cake but when cheese board arrived was very cold and when I remarked I was told it’s cold outside .. the French should know how a cheese board is served .. also complemented with a dessert wine which in my opinion was off .. my partners meal was much better than my own but the restaurant did remove the 10% service charge removed & dessert wine off the final bill but we had to go back after 10 minuets as we realised they also forgot to take the £20 deposit to reserve the table for Valentine’s Day ??? Anyone who dined Valentine’s Day I would check your bill too as I presume you also paid £20 to reserve your table … I can only say my experience of this restaurant was bloody awful

I really enjoyed my meal here. The food was very good and so was the service. What I can't understand is why they, and to be fair many other places, don't spend a few pounds on some decent light bulbs. A mix of nasty blue LEDs and various others around the place make it look cold and not very welcoming when it actually is quite the opposite. I still recommend it and I'll be going again myself so being what some may call picky but these things matter to me.

Visited Dunstable today and had lunch at Chez Jerome. Lovely atmosphere, even with the 80s throwback music! Nice to sway to a bit of Duran Duran! Great wine, and the food was delicious. Staff were friendly and the service was great. Food arrived in a timely manner. Venison was delicious and the steak too. Loved the french onion soup amd the pear starter. Would definitely come again!

Great French food with a seasonal menu

Food here is always amazing - perfectly cooked, interesting flavours and beautifully presented. And Lina and the staff are all absolutely lovely. Great French food with warm Portuguese hospitality! It's the ideal place for anything from a special family meal to a midweek treat for two. Can't recommend it enough!!

The delicious food and warm welcome are enough to make you want to revisit and try everything on the menu. The ambience for a Sunday was perfect with live entertainment. Eating at this restaurant is perfect every day, such wonderful food.

What a find!!! (My 12yo picky eater says “mum, write that the food was outstanding”as I am typing this). Our starters, mains and dessert was great. Scallops - cooked perfectly with amazing flavour combination (salty bacon and sweet pea purée). Absolutely amazing, tender and succulent meat with perfect sauces - we tried fillet, ribeye and chicken. All places I go I have a few signatory baseline tests to check quality. Pavlova is one of them. Hard to get wrong… but sometimes some food places surprise you with silly things. Not here. Test passed with flying colours: flavours, texture - well done. In addition to that - very friendly, simple and attentive hosts. We used to go to Dunstable for football fixtures and karting racing. Now we will be come here also for food.

First time back since the pandemic and it was as good as I remembered. The food was served very promptly and as always delicious and perfectly cooked. We had a Vegetarian in our party and they happily adapted a couple of the starters to make a beautiful main. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive, not to mention very patient with our party of ladies that hadn't met up in person for a long time and had a lot to talk about! We could have stayed all night and they didn't even remind us of the time!! The Crepe Flambee is a must have experience that you probably won't find elsewhere. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back

Went for lunch on Friday. Food was wonderful, especially the crepe suzette (the theatre!) We had the pork loin and the fish platter. Everything was cooked to perfection and the flavours were sublime. The chef obviously knows how to combine flavours. Cannot wait to return.

This quaint french eatery has some good reviews so I was expecting good things having never been B4. However, it's only fair that I caveat this by saying it was a Mother's Day set menu. The staff friendly in extending warm welcomes on arrival. I highly recommend sitting near to the front for a window view with good natural light or further back on the left (as you enter) for a more intimate setting. The venue is quite small and that is immediately noticeable by the very limited bathroom facilities (1 male and 1 female WC) that isn't exactly easily accessible but what about the food? Well, the set menu was a disappointment. French onion soup was ok but lacked a depth of flavour associated with this classic French dish. The smoked duck & chicken with orange was bland. No hint of smokiness and no citrus zing from the orange beside the bitterness from the unrefined zest slices. The gateaux of smoked salmon with prawns was the winner but lacked a little flavour and bizzarly had the smallest cocktail prawns, which was very disappointing. Mains continued in the same vein as the starters with the fish course of Seabass and Salmon fillet winning out. The medallion of beef fillet, lamb shank and the grilled sirlion were all slightly disappointing as lacked seasoning. The shining light in the fog of averageness was dessert. Chocolate trilogies and the Lemon & limoncello sorbet were delightful. The trilogy had excellent consistency, combined with the marinated berries and the fresh sweet strawberry pieces and chocolate decoration on the plate. I'm not a dessert fan usually but I was impressed. The sorbet had a wonderful balance with the limoncello at the bottom. When they came together it was a blissful harmony. I'll give this place another go at some point, so that I can experience the full classical French Cuisine that this establishment is famed for and not the occasion menu we had this time around

We arrived on time with our 2 friends that we had not seen for 2 years 😀. A really great evening, starters and main meal and a sweet, 2 bottles of wine, plus alcohol coffee, everything was wonderful.
