Had the worst diarrhoea of my life after eating their escargot (snails). I’m just glad I was close to home by the time the pain kicked in, and now that I’ve read some of the reviews it looks like I’m not the only one. Wish I didn’t go honestly.

Loved it. Had the snails followed by duck and steak tartare. Service was lovely, ambience was great. Hope to come back soon!

Great food with lovely relaxed atmosphere

This place is a small gem in East London. The ambiance and deco is amazing and it’s a very romantic spot. The food was great and super authentic ( being french). The service is very attentive and friendly. All in all definitely recommend for a date night!! Personal rating : 8.9/10

Small but intimate gem. Food ordered were: Starters - Cheese souffle - hit! - Frog legs - hit! Mains - steak onglet with fries and a vinaigrette salad - hit! - special of the day was ox cheek with mash potatoes - hit! Dessert - Crème brulee - hit! - Apple tatin - hit! Service was excellent and not over the top. Will definitely be back.

Enjoyed an excellent meal with 3 others. Not a huge menu but everything ordered was absolutely delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

Good but pricey, overall. The cheese souffle is excellent, as is the onion soup; the rest is merely the kind of competent standard you'd expect at any bistro in France. Maybe it's felt that that plain competence justifies these prices? 23 for steak tartare and frites! 25 for duck confit! Felt very punchy. And 14 for a kir royale is extraordinary. Pleasant enough atmosphere though. Service was - that word again - competent. Not sure I'd go back.

The food, service, wine, and atmosphere were all good, but the exuberant prices ruined the experience. Over £10 for 6 snails and £25 for a leg of duck with mash taytos! Samwise Gamgee was beside himself.

Has to be one of my favourite restaurants in London. Atmosphere great, food amazing. We always do family style here as it’s all good. Recommend the snails, beef tartare, duck, steak. Fries are amazing, as is the wine and cocktails.

This is my favorite restaurant in London. Amazing and very tasty food (which is not always easy to find in London) ! Rillettes de canards, soufflé au Comté, confit de canard and creme brûlée are a must. Went there again for my birthday and we had the most lovely serveur! Atmosphere is very French eclectic and cool. Definitely recommend !

Truly excellent bistro. Simple, elegant French food, done to perfection. Not the first time I've visited, and certainly not the last. They don't update their menu very often, but it's all good. The French Onion Soup is like a hug in a bowl.

An address not to be missed if you come to London! Great service, the waiter (Breton 😉) and the manager are really adorable and helpful! As for the menu, it was excellent, we went there twice in quick succession because we were so delighted! You can go there with your eyes closed! As soon as I come back to London I will definitely go back! See you soon!!

The fooooood is sooo good. So many flavors complimenting one another. The ambience very warm and cosy and the staff is nice, welcoming and super cute.

Very cozy French restaurant on legendary brick lane. I believe run by two French ladies. It’s best do a reservation. The entire place has a very mainland European vibe. Music and food were amazing. It’s set in a very trendy area, right behind Spittalfield market as well as right below Shoreditch. So plenty of places for a drink afterwards. I’ll definitely be back.

Not sure where these great reviews are coming from, this place is mediocre at best. The snails themselves were nicely cooked but the parsley sauce was very bitter, probably due to burned garlic. My steak onglet was overcooked and tasted more like liver, my partners moules mariner were overcooked as well (come on.. how can you fail on the easiest dish), the fries and tarte tatin were nice, the sugar crust on the creme brulé was not properly caramelised/scorched so it was way too sweet, overall it was a huge disappointment and most of the food was amateurish considering the price and reviews

What a gem of a restaurant this is! The authentic French food is out of this world, the French onion soup is the best I’ve ever had by far. The restaurant itself has a beautiful ambience and is very romantic and makes the perfect date night! I visited with my boyfriend and my mum though and it was a lovely setting regardless. The staff were lovely and Lili the owner especially was very welcoming! Thanks, very much looking forward to returning!

French vintage, cool, atmosphere restaurant. The dishes have nothing to envy to a high level restaurant, we tasted practically the whole menu and tasty excellent French wine. In the dishes you can see the chef's passion and the study of the products for a fusion style. Well done guys!

Seriously the best French restaurant I have been in a long long time. The tartare is incredible (and I am fussy as hell!) and… I felt just like in a bistro at home.

French place in Brick lane. Decorations was inviting with Christmas lights around the place. Food and wine choices are limited but delicious. I had their Charcuterie for starters to share followed by Beef Onglet served with fries and salad accompanied with great red wine. All very tasty!!

Incredible food, cozy atmosphere

Hidden gallic gem amid the festive light, curry slots & vape shops. An unexpected delight. French speaking staff (& customers) make for an immersive experience, we played things save steak chips & redwine followed by a creme brulee. First rate, we'll definitely return and expand into more adventurous terrain... Cheese soflee looks like a winner. Well done you lot, thank you!

The atmosphere and deco is great but I was disappointed with the food, it wasn’t fresh or full of flavour. The French fries were cold and almost could say double fried. I hope they can improve this amazing venue.

House red great , onion soup great .. but the mussels were not great … too small , 30% were empty and the white wine sauce was poor ! Good service but they didn’t handle my grievance well . Shame as a nice little restaurant .

A real pleasure to find this restaurant open after covid. The steak tartar is always good and the staff are extremely welcoming.

Nice little bistro. Sweetbreads were very small and overcooked but souffle was good. Steak main was delicious but the fish was very small and incredibly overpriced for the tiny portion

Amazing food in a cosy rustic setting! One of my favourite French restaurants in London, have been a few times and have always enjoyed my time here. Prices are really reasonable too.

I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately the food was just not good. French onion soup was bland and the Mussels were very small and did not taste fresh - they didn't taste of anything at all actually. The cream sauce they were in was overpowered with spring onion, overall not a great meal. Service and ambience were nice at least.

My boyfriend and I celebrated my birthday at this venue. It had a wonderful atmosphere, lovely staff and interesting menu. We tried out their frog legs, snails, beef onglet and mussels paired with a great white wine recommendation. All but the legs tasted amazing (the legs had a bit of a unpleasant smell which I attributed to the unusual meal). I would have given it 5 stars but I felt super sick a few hours later.

The snail taste awful and the mussels is tasteless. Update: all of us got diarrhea of various severely the evening after the visit. Avoid this dodgy place!!!

Had dinner there at the end of March, 2022. Like being transported to a Paris Bistro. Had the French onion soup and the Escargot, Canard, classic steak frites and the sea bream. All wonderful and paired with appropriate wines. Chocolate Moelleux and Crème Brûlée for dessert. Staff was great. Absolutely wonderful evening

Simple in this case is very, very good! I have eaten here twice in the past two weeks. It’s a refreshing option to all the Indian restaurants on Brick Lane. For my review I am using the word ‘simple’ in the most positive way. This is a small restaurant with a well thought out simple menu. Many classics: steak and frites; mussels and frites; and Onion soup. Service is quick and attentive but not rushed. The food is on point - proper portions and on point. No Paul Bocuse complexity here. I will return - like next week 😉👍

Found this cosy restaurant by chance and my wife and I both felt that it was genuinely French cooking; lovely staff, excellent food (especially recommend the Onion Soup), good and intimate atmosphere and very affordable. Nestling amongst the numerous Asian restaurants in Brick lane, a lively street in the evening we would have no hesitation on endorsing this delightful haven.

I really loved the food! It tasted super authentic and homemade, especially the fries and the mayo DELICIOUS! The only reason I didn’t give five stars is because we didn’t get any bread which usually comes for free in French restaurants and the duck confit lacked a bit of side dishes… I thought it came with gratin dauphinois but it was more a spoon of mash potato. Besides that the cheese soufflé was DIVINE, I absolutely recommend it! The beef was cooked to perfection and came with the delicious fries! And finally, the crème brûlée with a hint of pistachio was creamy and light, don’t forget to order that one!

Nice interior. I ordered duck for the main which looked a bit dry to me. The wine selection was good and they had champagne on the menu which wasn't expensive and it became our choice. Mixed staff team, while the first lady serving us was good, the other was too pretentious and impolite.

I would recommend a table at the back, just so you have less traffic, but it's not that much of an issue. --- Amazing place and food. Can't wait to go back! Update: on my second visit it was just as fantastic. Every bit as special as my fist visit.

Very nice French cuisine restaurant. Both the steak tartare and the beef steak seemed excellent to us. All accompanied by homemade fries. The icing on the cake for some who feel uncomfortable with languages: the waitress, otherwise friendly and efficient, is French-speaking. An excellent plan!

Chez Elle is easily my favourite place to eat. It has easy charm and a really cool atmosphere. The food is authentic and very very good. It never disappoints and always leaves me with a feeling that an evening here is money well spent.

On a recent visit, staying near Brick Lane, i wasn’t in the mood for curry and came upon this little Bistro which is absolutely delightful. Perfect bistro interior and a small bistro menu. Food and service were very good. I was a lone diner and made to feel welcome. Thank you.

Best french onion soup ever!! Worth coming here just for that alone. Service is great and also recommend the coffee. Prices are slightly on the high side for that area but nothing abnormal for London (it is more like central London prices). They do a dinner deal of 50cl of wine and one charcuterie selection for £14 which is a bargain and the wine was great. Much of the music in the background is from the film Amelie so you will definitely feel like you are in Paris here. Overall great experience.

Fabulous find on Brick Lane - a lovely authentic French bistro. Busy so glad we booked in advance. Cheese soufflé was amazing. My husband enjoyed the sweetbreads and confit duck leg. The cheese course was fab. Lovely service within a cosy restaurant and French music playing in the background - what's not to like.

This has been my favourite French restaurant since I first tried it in 2014 (I’m French, in case you are not and wondering where to get food French food… search no more, this is it). It’s always been amazing, but I was there again tonight and I can safely say it’s the best it’s ever been. The cheese soufflé is to die for, and the onglet is just out of this world. For dessert, the pistachio crème brûlée has been my strong favourite for a few years now. I think it’s safe to say Lili and her team have done a fantastic job, and every time my partner and I come, we remember Nadia’s incredible customer service and her unique presence, and I’m sure she would be proud to see how well the team is doing now. We already can’t wait to come back.
