Went for the chinese food her. It was mediocre but the really annoying thing is it's CASH ONLY. There's only one reason a place would be cash only in 2023 and that's to avoid paying proper taxes. Dodgy tax avoiding people.

Food good but service slow. We ordered over the phone and was told to collect at 7:10. We arrived early and presented ourselves. Of course we had to have a drink while we waited (be rude not to). We ended up chasing the order and was nearly given the wrong order. Didn’t leave for home until 7:45 and ended up having 3 or 4 drinks. Food itself was lovely and the beer seems well kept.

Came with a friend of mine for a drink, not many people in so not much of an atmosphere, the barman was ok although not over friendly, I think the place needs sprucing up a bit. I ordered a Chinese takeaway which is on site, the service was quick and the girl friendly, and the food was good to eat back home, worth considering for the takeaway or eat in

Popped in around 9pm for drinks and takeaway meal, beer was fine and service by bar staff OK. There was a member of staff with her children one was only about 18 months or 2 years old running around and another older child rolling on the floor it was like a kindergarten. The children were clearly very tired and bored, the management deciding not to enforce there own policy on children on the premises. Can't say we will return soon.

We only live around the corner from this place, but can recommend it for food and drink. It has a Chinese on site where you can eat in or take away. The menu is extensive but if it is not on the menu, they will cook virtually what ever you want. The service is fast and very efficient. A very good and friendly place too if you just want a drink. Overall a very nice and friendly local pub.

We arrived on a narrowboat having travelled up the Ashby Canal. We were booked in elsewhere but due to the amazing sunshine today we were told it was a minimum of a 50 minute wait. So, a quick check of Trip Advisor led me to the Chetwynd Arms. Great local pub, 200m from the canal. Chinese food (and English) available inside. Really really good food, piping hot, delicious and with great service. The Doombar is well kept too! Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a pub with a lively atmosphere where you can have a Chinese meal served to your table and some good value drinks then the Chetwynd may just be it. Alternatively if a dance off to the Macarena or the Cha Cha slide is more your bag on a Saturday night, then load up the jukebox and the boys from the infamous 'middle table' will be happy to oblige.

Went with friends just 4 of us for hubbies birthday. Found a table and sat down very sticky tables and rice left on the table so we moved. The next table was very sticky but clean we got a menu and ordered drinks. Had to go to the counter to order the chinese food that is located in the Chetwynd pub, had to tell the girl that served us that we had a table and needed the place mats ect. The food took approx 20 minutes when it came it looked nice it was just sitting on the table because we had no plates, the waitress went off to get them it was a few minutes wait so a couple of us started to eat the food out the bowls, then the plates arrived they were warm that was a bonus. My house special chow mein was stodgey the chicken and beef slices on the top was like cardboard hard and dry could not eat it. Some of the others said their food was okey nothing special.you have ro pay with cash only so make sure if you go have money no card or contactless payments . It was very noisy in there loud music so making people speak louder, we had our meal and a couple of drinks we were there around 6.30 until 8.00 and was glad to go as our plates were left on the table the waitresses were walking past us taking food to other tables they had empty trays walking back to the kitchen but did not clear our tables very poor service poor food not worth the price.

Whilst the pub is friendly and the beers are good the kitchen is rented and once again our takeaway meal was missing items which has resulted in 3 stars. As the kitchen is run separately from the pub nobody takes responsibility when something goes wrong and the only way to resolve any issues is to go back and collect your items leaving your meal to go cold. Not a good experience again.

Decided to give this place a whirl as it’s the only Chinese that isn’t an ‘all you can eat’ establishment in Nuneaton. The food is fabulous and the waitress was very friendly although we had to ask for items we had paid for but not received. Paid in the region of £30 for starters, mains and sides for two so not expensive. Unfortunately there were a few badly behaved older children in at the same time. The noise coming from the pool table area was unbelievable, much like the monkey house at the zoo!! Now I’m not ‘anti children’ by any stretch of the imagination but I don’t really want to hear shouting and hollering when I’m sitting down for a meal. Nice enough place and would probably go again for food, just spoilt by the noise.

Told 3 times whilst waiting to order be with you a min whilst she appeared to be doing nothing to then be told it's going to a 1 and a half hrs wait as there has just been lots of take away orders taken over the phone to which I replied no your customers sitting in should take priority as in any business that does takeaways too, I asked to see the manager as to which this 16 year old girl said oh it's ok I'll put your order through, 45 mins later food came which for the Chetwynd is bad, there was only one other table ordering food that we could see, not bothered about waiting as we were enjoying time with friends !! Just think they need to sort there customer service skills out and employ some staff that actually know what they are doing and not young girls for cheap labour !! A large group of us visited the chetwynd for a friends birthday just before Christmas. We had booked as there was quite a few of us and separated ourselves evenly amongst the tables allocated us. Each group went up individually as they only take cash for one and so that everyone's food would come out separately rather then expecting them to be able to manage us all eating together! However I don't know what happened behind the scenes but it was a complete mess the people who ordered first didn't receive any of their food and had to reorder completely the poor waitresses were bringing food over that no one had even ordered and people were getting one of their dishes then nothing else till 5/10 minutes later! The thing is when the food arrived it was brilliant Chinese food and clearly cooked fresh just a shame the kitchen didn't organise the orders correctly. Would be willing to try again though as the food was very good.

The place has become a bit run down. The tables have lost their lustre and are now down to the bare wood. There is no separate dining area as such, but you are sat in a raised open area just off centre of the main area overlooking the rest of the pub. A bit noisy if your hoping for an intimate evening out. Was served by a young woman wearing a black leather jacket ??. Hot plates were bought to our table very quickly, but, then the food to put on them arrived 12 minutes later when the plates had gone cold. There is a huge menu to choose from, compatible to menu for most Chinese Take a way's with prices about the same. It's nicely presented and there is enough to fill you up. The thing is, nothing about our dining experience here made us say we would want to go again. The overall experience just didn't do it for us.

Heard about this place many a time but never got to visit it until recently. Taken by friends on their recommendation and it didn't disappoint! Unusual set-up of cash served chinese menu within the corner of the pub, tables laid accordingly while the rest of the pub goes about it's usual business! Comprehensive menu, the usual culprits but beautiful tastes and sumptuous dishes - definitely can't wait to return. Another boat trip up the Ashby Canal and we were looking forward to a meal at the Corner House near Marston Jabbett but found it closed for refurbishment so walked across the road to the Chetwynd. First impressions were not good. The building is very 60's/70's, lots of glass and coloured panels and inside was not particularly inviting. However the bar staff were welcoming and managed to find us a table even though most were reserved. Food orders are taken seperately at the end of the bar and obviously the kitchen staff had much of importance to discuss amongst themselves as it proved a little difficult to attract anyone's attention. Eventually managed to order set meal for two but had to pay seperately for a pint of Abbott and a glass of Chardonnay. Wife's comment was that it wasn't the best Chardonnay she'd ever tasted and I have to say the same about the Abbott which seemed to be a new barrel that hadn't been rested for sufficient time. The food arrived very quickly and the chicken and sweetcorn soup was pleasant enough but I was a little concerned about the chicken which appeared to be in reconstituted tablet form. The various dishes which made up the main course wre all tasty but also very over-salted, or was it monosodium glutmated? The salty assault on our taste buds put us in the mood for something very sweet but there was nothing so we asked for ice cream but were told there was none - on a bank holiday weekend !

Good food and good service, although waiting staff sometimes seem a little unsure of themselves if minor issues occur. Many improvements have been made since my previous visits where the quality of food was not as good as it is now. The restaurant space is a little bit cramped and the table we had was too small which made for an interesting time when we ordered a set menu meal. There was not be enough room on the table for all the plates and drinks. Overall a good experience if you take into account that this is first and foremost a public house. I would definitely go back.

What a great evening with great friends and great food to match. Would highly recommend to everyone who wants a great pub with lovely chinese food, don't forget to book a table at the weekends though as it gets packed

First time ordering and won’t be back. Sloppy portions. I ordered rice and ended up with half a portion in the plastic tray. Prawns which weren’t exactly cheap arrived cold. I feel that if you order through just eat… it isn’t as carefully prepared as it would be ordering by phone. It’s a no from me.

Feeling very much in want of some Chinese and finding the Golden Bridge open on a Monday, we gave them a try. Would rate them as cheap and cheerful, but could be better. We ordered quite a few things totalling around £45: chicken and sweetcorn soup, hot and sour soup, sweet and sour chicken, bbq ribs, special fried rice, salt and chilli chicken, char sui pork with vegetables, large meat spring rolls, and we got prawn crackers and 2 fortune cookies for free. Let's start by saying the soup was the best part of the meal and set me up for a bit of a disappointment. Mine was the hot and sour soup which was absolutely beautiful, would definitely get again and have with prawn toast by itself! The rice was delicious along with the salt and chilli chicken. The sweet and sour chicken was made separately from the sauce and was slightly dry. The spring rolls were as my partner described as ' a bean sprout sandwich'. It had no flavour or meat to be seen or tasted. Had we no sauce it would have been left. The ribs were a bit tough and the char sui pork with vegetables was ok. Had everything been flavoured and cooked accordingly then it would have been rated higher. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. It's collection and cash only which was a little inconvenient. Food was slightly late, but everything was hot! Would go back for somethings, but not a whole meal. Parking is difficult so be prepared to walk a bit.
