Really nice food and lovely staff

Came in this afternoon, lovely food, staff are great. Found out the quiz is back on next Wednesday too!

Don’t go for a Sunday roast it’s a sprinkle of veg and taty. Wouldn’t have ordered this if I’d have seen how it looked before. Could also tell staff waited till I went for a wee to do check backs as it was written all over my face. Probs good for a burger but if it’s Sunday dinner you’re after, better off with a tv dinner

Wow what an absolute let down. Booked the private area upstairs for my grandmothers 80th birthday, spent a lot of time doing up the balloons etc. Everyone arrived and got sat down to be told that food wasn’t being served. JOKE and embarrassing. Won’t be coming again.

Called in on a Friday morning. Not too busy. Buy one get one free burger day. 4 burger, 1 chicken wings and drinks just over £30. Pleasant atmosphere. Have been before and will go again. Pleasant atmosphere. Children's area / play area. Plenty of parking.

Service team were excellent, food ok but quite bland, good family atmosphere

They claim to do gluten free but they just leave everything off the plate including dairy which doesn't contain gluten. It was more of a free from everything plate. Including taste.

Busy took a while to be served but still bot a bad place to go for a few at all

Absolute pleasure to visit. Phoebe behind the bar went above and beyond while taking my order to make sure everything I needed was catered for. Katie and Sarah endured our food came in a timely manor and at a perfect temp with nothing but professionalism and kindness. Had a slight Gravy issue, bit thick for our liking but was replaced without issue. Thank you guys. Will be back!

Fantastic morning for breakfast with Santa, what amazing staff, so warm and welcoming, kids got to make reindeer food, also activities with the staff before meeting Santa. Great breakfast, then into wacky for a play time.thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Lovely place with a varied menu. The team are lovely and the service is great. We've loved everything that we've tried from the menu.

Overpriced half measured drinks. Microwaved rock hard food. Long wait. Disinterested staff. Will never enter a Hungry Horse again.

Been here twice for Sunday lunch and both times it was cold and seemed ready made. We sent one plate back as it wasn’t hot enough to eat. When it came back, I expected a fresh meal. The same plate returned merely microwaved. Meals other than Sunday lunch are really nice. Also on both occasions, had to ask for more gravy as the little gravy boat isn’t enough.

Food was lovely fresh produce and cooked perfectly will definitely be visiting again 😋 xx

AVOID THIS PLACE, STAFF ARE ARROGANT WHEN I COMPLAINED THAT MY FOOD WAS UNDERCOOKED. SOME FOOD IS PRECOOKED THEN WARMED UP, WHICH ISNT FRESH IS IT? AVOID THIS PLACE. WEVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY FOR FOOD IN THE PAST, SENT THIS BACK AND THE GUY BEHIND THE COUNTER TRY AND TELL ME ''ITS NOT UNDERCOOKED, GO SIT AT YOUR TABLE AND SOMEONE WILL COME AND SEE YOU'' HES LUCKY HE DIDNT GET DROPPED TBH. BOGOF burger night (Friday) is a particular favourite and the lamb kofta is really nice as well (new to the menu). Haven't had a bad meal whatever I've ordered. Dog friendly in a certain area 👍

We have been coming to the Chestnut Tree for years. It never lets us down. The food is nice, the staff are friendly, they always have the football on over the weekend. There's always some great new options on the menu. I would thoroughly recommend this pub.

Come for the quiz, enjoy it every week. Staff are great can't argue with the service.

Went to the Chestnut Tree at 6.30pm tonight (Saturday) with family for a meal. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There was plenty of choice on the children's menu for our 7 year old granddaughter, as well as for us adults. We all enjoyed our meals. Couldn't fault the food or the service at all. Will definitely be going again.

Visit chestnut tree atleast 3 times a week, curry Wednesday, Saturday with children and Sunday for the roasts 😍🥰 Amazing food, friendly staff an reasonable prices. Won't eat anywhere else, myself an my dad have become part of the furniture we are there so often 😂😅 xx

Friendly staff but not enough on bar serving. Stingy food portions, waitress threw half of chips on floor and left them there.

I have updated my review from previous one as standards have really improved. The staff are now very good and the atmosphere is a lot better. The food has dramatically improved. Well done to you all

What great customer service and the food was delicious, got so full asked for the deserts to be in a takeaway boxes and enjoyed them at home. I would definitely recommend and will be going again to try more on the menu.

Ordered the quasadella but it was so small and very plain nothing to it at all and came with a very tiny salad of just lettuce i was unhappy with my meal hear as there was nothing to it and nothing exciting.

Sunday roast and a pint for £10. Will definitely be going back. Nice tasting dinner and it was hot.

Very basic minimal food.booked for 4 when we arrived one of the staff said I don't know which table to put them on when we were booked and should av had a table reserved.another staff said oh shove over there .no plush toy which was advertised very poor x

My large family has been here many times, and until today, we would have given much higher scores, but unfortunately, tonight the food was awful, one member of staff was really rude and basically through the food at us. So disappointed as a table of 15 we spent a lot of money. Won't be going back again.

My daughters meal finally arrived after all 15 of us had finished ours. Obviously, they had forgotten about her meal. The food was microwaved to the point where the chicken had the texture of rubber and the chips were terribly over cooked. My sizzler meal came out not sizzling, the sausages for the mixed grill were missed and came out separately and even then they weren't cooked through. I ordered an apple crumble for desert, it arrived with no crumble, just small pieces of apple which again were microwaved so much they were just mush. Terrible food, totally disorganised, and the staff just couldn't care less. This usually, is our go-to family place to go, I think it's time to find a better alternative.

They nail it everytime.. Great staff, good good, speedy service. Cannot recommend enough... Special mention to Ari(?) for going above and beyond but all staff are10/10

Food was awful, burnt bacon, snotty eggs/undercooked, cold mushrooms.. tvs were playing kids tv too loud.. service would of got an extra star had they of checked off everything was ok, didn’t complain as didn’t have time to.

Really nice vegan mushroom pie and vegan lasagna. The vegan gravy is the best gravy I've had in a long time and the member of staff who took the order behind the bar was lovely.

Terrible food. Dry, horrible chicken. Inedible sausage. I complained to the staff and all I was told was that they would let me kitchen know. Children's play area smelt like wee. We left after an hour and won't return.

I am a local in the Chestnut tree . Last week I had a bad week with an anniversary nof a friend's death and two friends died this week . I went for a quiet pint after work to chill out and to have moment. . 2 staff. Holly White and deveon saw that I was not my usual self. .went above and beyond to make sure I was ok through talking and just spending time with me. . these two ladies deserve recognition for how they made me feel . Thank you so much

Was here on Saturday 14th of September for a meal to celebrate mine and my son's birthday with a large group of people. Lots of our food was over cooked or under cooked. Some things still frozen. We told waiter staff items was missing and at first expected us to shear a sause even thought we paid for more. Over all very disappointed as this is totally opposite to our first experance here , definitely will not return now as it's gone down hill.

Food was nice here I had the bacon burger and my girlfriend had fish and chips all was cook to perfection and Owen was a big help to us with serving

I ordered the Full Monty Mixed Grill, then i was told they had no steak after i had paid, so i had to have extra gammon or chicken. When i received my food the chicken was dry and chewy, the sauce was very peppery more than normal. Other than that the other food was fine and the chips where nice and crispy. The trifle baked alaska was beautiful.

Ordered gravy which was basically just warmed up brown sauce. Poor service all round. Would not come again

From when I have visited the Chestnut tree the food has been ok, the staff have been great, it is a popular place for families. The down side is on a night there are too many bolshy older kids in and for this reason we don't go anymore

Came here to enjoy a lovely meal with friends. Being a Sunday, we thought it would be a good idea to order the Roast. The menu gives you an impression that you will have a decent sized meal. When receiving the meal, we were trying to work out if we somehow ordered the child’s meal. The roast potato was not much bigger than a pound coin. I could count the amount of veg I had. I did not have much good interaction with the staff, when asking about the cutlery, the staff told me to go to get it from the cutlery station which i didn’t know where it was because I had not been here before. I would not order this again or visit again, my friends were also disappointed.

There was a charity event on that I attended, the atmosphere was great, staff had a good attitude, I didn't buy any food or drink, so I couldn't tell you what it's like but, a great place for family to meet and enjoy meals together while kids can play in the play area.

We go most Wednesdays to the chestnut tree for the quiz night, we always have food before the quiz and it's always lovely, we've never had a problem , the staff are always polite , helpful , lovely people and always try to do their best to accommodate us. The quiz is brilliant and I would highly recommend it, whether we've gone as a family or just the two of us we've always thoroughly enjoyed it , plus we've won a few times and the £20 or £10 Greeneking voucher you get for winning (depending whether it's the weekly or monthly quiz) is an added bonus. If you haven't been definately try it

Sunday special, roast and a drink £10. Sounds good but the drink doesn't seem to include coffee???!!!! 😕 Neither of us drink alcohol or soft drinks so why isn't coffee included, it's a drink, it's on the menu, we feel cheated and penalised for our life style. Very disappointed 😞

We had a party of 10 diners & a baby with no reservation. We were looked after & felt very welcome. The service was quick & the food very tasty. No complaints from any of our party. This place was amazing, really happy staff especially when ordering our meals couldn't ask for a better place for a birthday meal....we were there on the 4,8 24. I recommend the seabas.

Cheap and cheerful. Good food and good service. Sometimes it does get busy so there is a longer waiting time for food but that normal anywhere.

We got told about the new menu coming today on our visit last night so thought we’d pop through for dinner and see what it was like. Some great additions! Nice to see some lamb dishes being added. cant wait to try everything. hubby said fishcakes were stunning

Always a great atmosphere and the quiz on a Wednesday is amazing, that guy pat behind the bar is a lovely bloke always happy and ready to help.

Had the Thursday night offer of curry and a drink for £8, sat outside in the sunshine. Service was a little slow as it was peak time but food was tasty, a decent portion and good value for money.

We spent a lovely afternoon with family at The Chestnut Tree. The staff were really helpful booking our table. The food came quickly and the young waitress, Leanne, who served our table was really friendly and chatty with our young grandchildren.

Food is great. Service can be slow when it's busy but that's understandable. It can be busy at weekends but the kids always enjoy the play area and the park.

Sorry to say but the food was vile, no beef, no turkey the bar lady told me they got chicken so am like ok, sounds fine, it look like a dogs dinner when they brought it out to us the mash looks horrible and the chicken breast was chewy n salty it was disgusting 🤢 and so when I went to see someone, he didn’t look bothered and he ask me if my meal was still at the table but after waiting ages to see him, the people already took our plates I was offered no money back or free desserts that I ordered, I won’t be back, lost good custom. Paid good money for Sunday dinners and my youngest said it was disgusting and she loves a roast! Very disappointing.

Called in today and I must say the food was lovely. The staff were really pleasant and they even asked about allergies when we ordered, It came in a reasonable time and presented well, thank you

The food was to be expected for a budget friendly pub. The person who served us was very polite and respectful, it’s a shame the rest of the staff were treating it as a playground, running in and out of the kitchen chasing each other. And over all being annoying. This just ruined the overall experience for our meal.

Go here quite a bit as it’s local. It can be hit and miss at times but more good than bad Went in today on Father’s Day. Weren’t booked as it was last min plans. They were super organised although very busy. Managed to squeeze us in non the less. Had a great priced Sunday lunch and some kids meals which were lovely and came in no time at all. All in all great service and nice food as you’d expect for the price.

A chain Green King Pub. It certainly meets with their ethics. The menu is varied and good value, 2 meals under £12. The duty manager was also very polite and helpful when I asked about the function room.

Now my regular place .brought my eldest son to celebrate his birthday. Great place, value and food. Staff are very welcoming.

Us to use this pub nearly everyday, and it just keeps going down hill, food cheap but it's rubbish, been in tonight at 10.15pm and told last orders been called for drinks, not happy but a pub as a right to close of its own choosing, so why advertise your open until 11pm, other pubs around you don't like the new inn

Walked in to playarea. Stood in a pile of food right in entrance. Didn't stay long. Looking around, quite dirty. *Update* I was invited to a party here and I wasn't overjoyed to go back. Complete turn around. Was clean this time. Also the party food offered was one of the best I've seen. Nice to see some fruit/veg on plates. 👍 Went back for a 3rd time as we had a free play voucher with the party pack. Sad to say it's back to dirty and cramped and staff very uninterested. Maybe on party days they take more care? I dunno. I won't be going back.
