Chennai Dosa in Croydon

Online order for home delivery. Very disappointed. Ordered at 8-30 with 30 minute delivery stated but food didn't turn up till just before 10 pm. Was cold - we had to heat up in the microwave ( not ideal for a crispy dosa, though it certainly wasn't crispy!) - and the yoghurt sauce had exploded in the bag. Tasted good but as we were only about 2 miles away 90 minutes wait was not good- nor cold food - and we won't repeat or recommend for home delivery. (BTW we did phone and report immediately)

In Croydon town, a gem does stand, "Chennai Dosa," oh, it's quite grand! Traditional dosas, crisp and neat, A taste so authentic, truly a treat. The waiter's smile, as wide as the sea, Made us feel welcome, as welcome could be. Mushroom 65, a spicy delight, Each bite was perfection, oh, what a sight! For South Indian flavors, rich and true, This spot in Croydon is the place for you. A jewel indeed, in the curry game's fame, Chennai Dosa, you've won our acclaim!

Dosa chuttny was superb .. lunch .. South Indian thali was also good .. fitter coffee was awesome.. owner Ravi has done well .. good service

We ate there recently the service was terrible..the food took long to come. All dishes came separately. Two of the six dishes taste decent. The rest was so bad..wen bringing up with the waiter he was rude ans ignorant. We where hungry after we left. So disappointed and upset with the while experience..

Very poor service, food was mediocre, the dhosa came warm and not hot as it should be. There was just another table with customers, so they were not busy,

A total nightmare which started badly and went downhill. Seven of us went for Sunday lunch, the place was dead which should have been a warning. The lighting was unpleasant and the gents toilet grubby and smelly. The staff took ages to come to our table and even longer before they came back for an order. One of the party has a nut allergy and as instructed on the several signs around the restaurant we told the staff about this every time we interacted with them. We ordered a selection of starters, which we were assured were nut free. When they arrived, they were bland and greasy and the masala Poppadom was soggy. After we'd eaten these the allergic member of our party began to react to the nut traces that had been in her food despite us telling them about her allergy and being assured that none of it contained nuts. At this point the main courses started to arrive including her paneer dish which we had checked at least twice didn't contain nuts, we checked again the waiter went to the kitchen and came back and assured us that there were no nuts in it. Fortunately, she waited for the other people to be served because another waiter came back five minutes later and told us that it contained cashew nuts. At this point we all left having totally lost confidence in the ability of the restaurant to provide safe food. In summary: the food we had was mediocre and the restaurant is so poorly managed that it is dangerous. Avoid.

We wanted to try something different but ended up being a bit lost with the menu. We ordered a few bits and some missed the mark others were tasty. I think this was more down to us not really knowing what we were ordering than the food itself as most of what we ate was tasty. The waitress was very friendly and patient with us and the prices are quite reasonable. They do not serve alcohol but there were plenty of non alcoholic drinks available so this wasn’t an issue. Keep an eye out for the restaurant rules list… it kept us entertained!

Delicious and excellent value. We ordered a delivery and all the food was beautifully flavoured. The Masala Dosa’s were amazing with a selection of coconut chutneys. The tarka daal and aloo ghobi were really tasty and it was all very reasonably priced.

Honestly disgusting. I love Indian food and was so excited for this order but it just tasted stale and smelt odd. Had to throw it away and have some toast. Very sad :(

We love eating in here, but takeaway was terrible. We called to give our feedback and the person hung up. Not nice as we spend money you dont want our review? The tikka main was full of paste and the chicken was rubbery. The dosa was smashed and we had crumbs in our bag. Sad because we were so excited.

This was our first trip since they moved to the old Fushia site. Some of the staff are new and still getting the hang of things, especially drinks orders, but all were friendly and helpful. One dish was a little disappointing, our other dishes were all superb. I'm looking forward to trying a thali next time.

Visited Today to eat masala dosa with my wife , they’ve doubled prices on their menu and then on top given 50% discount for eat out scheme and would reclaim 50% from govt . Doesn’t make sense , we would have actually paid the amount which we have paid without 50% discount

This was our most recent of several happy visits. The staff are friendly and the food (especially the dosas) absolutely delicious.

Do you make vada with flour or something else. The worse thing is it was sambar vada, which was being soaked in sambar. Even the soaked vada was hard as a stone. No apologies, or even any comments from the waiter when we told the waiter. And... They still charged for it. Won't go back.

Place is really good with lot of interesting walls with stories of india. I have tried parrota with paneer butter masala. Which is really soft and hygienic.

I realled loved their chicken briyani and chicken 65 channa bhattura and chilli paneer.with friendly service

Terrible customer service. We weren’t provided the table which we requested for. While other white customers were given preference and priorities. Asians are treated soo badly here. Please avoid !!! Taste of the food is soo bad. Quanity is soo less. Such racial discrimination act by the workers. They dont trear asians well.

Last Friday we have been to the restaurant with my family. The restaurant was completely packed up. But still waiters received us with warm welcome and even though they were very so busy, the food was served on reasonable time.I really appreciate this restaurant that is has huge menu on dosa as no other restaurant has.Must try falooda and sugarcane fresh juice.Finally overall everything is good with decent price.

My two boys and I walked in through the doors at 19:01, and walked out at 19:22, without anyone asking for our order. That's how bad the service here is. No manager to talk to, waitresses do not speak English and then you have this experience of walking out still hungry.

Avoid at any cost. food wasnt a good taste. Puri was uncooked, potato veg was tasteless, biryani was not hot. was served late even when no crowd. very rude waitress, asked for room temperature water, waitress said no and when asked if i can get it from out she said its not allowed. i said i need bottled water from room temperature for my children she still kept saying no as it is restaurant policy - no understanding for kids. when i asked for manager she said there is no manager. how can you not have a manager in a restaurant. after all this happened she said she will check if she has any bottle at room temperature inside and came back with two. why didnt she think of it earlier maybe she didnt want to be bothered.

Horrible place - don’t waste your time. Went in the morning; curry and chutney are all from the leftovers of the previous day.

I wish I’d seen the majority of negative reviews before my relatives (fairly local) took myself and my parents here.

The taste was not good so does the quantity of the food. Had to leave the place as we did not want to waste the money on the food which doesn't taste good. Very disappointed. Poor customer service.

Customer service is very bad no hospitality at all. After ordering we needed to wait for more than 25min,still nothing despite us asking so many times half cooked vada came with sparingly served chutney when asked for sambar said they will charge us. We are permanent customers to this restaurant many times since it was opened but after the management changed the quality of both the food and customer service is very poorly.. very upset because my little son who is only 7 yrs old waited so long .we had to cancel the order and leave.bad experience..

It was great find in Croydon . I never done dosa before so me and my friend decided to visit there while it was quiet . It was not ideal time to be there still we got very good service and food was absolutely spot on. I’m definitely going back again . Highly recommended .

Well it was another hot day and I had three of the mango lassis to wash down my meal. I worked in Croydon for a while and wasn't keen to return but these things have yo be borne. I'd remembered a former colleague recommending this place so decided it would be a good bet for lunch. Wasn't disappointed, had a nice dosa with a good mutton curry an potatoes. Very good value too.

I have been going to this restaurant regularly since it opened many years ago. The food was excellent and it was very popular often having to queue to get in.

Southern India cuisine lovers its a definite stop. Good food and helpful staff. I went there multiple times. I feel the menu can have some more variety. The decor or change in the sitting can twist the mood of the customers. Traditional south Indian costume also can add up to its attraction.

I ended up in here because we didn't realise Taste of Kerala is closed on a Wednesday. It was quite busy even at 9pm. Clean but basic environment, and the waiter was helpful and friendly. The menu is long and varied, although unfortunately there was a lack of lamb by the time we were ordering. But what we did have was excellent, just the right side of spicy. Shame we can't BYOB (at least that's what we understood), but it won't necessarily stop us coming back.

If you are looking for authentic south Indian food with no frill option then this is the place to be. They have great selection of food items and also do buffet at a fantastic price.

Nice place to get some cheap eats. As the name suggests, the restaurant serves south Indian food. There's a huge selection of vegetarian options, which is great.

Old food was served and it had hair in it so this restaurant is unhygienic. There was terrible customer service. The food had a horrible taste so we couldn't eat it and it made us feel sick. I wouldn't recommend people to come to this shop.

I usually visit the New Malden branch, Food quality is well-kept as good as it was and recently receiving better services with new amazing staffs. I suggest you to try their over-standing starters whilst you are visiting the restaurant.

I like place and I visit few times before.But I had diner for two last Sunday. Masala Dosa and Masala panner. Probably dosa witch cheese make me feel sick next day morning. I had serious food poison, I was at home for next 3 day because of that. Was my last time. Shame.

I am a regular here and I visited around a week back. Food quality has gone down a little bit but the staff behavior has improved. I say food quality is down because prices have been increased but the quantity and overall quality has come down. Staff have changed and are more responsive. Previously staff would respond to you when you ask them something as if they were doing a favour. If you ask them to refill some buffet item they would look at you as if you have asked them to commit a crime!

This is a cheap and cheerful eatery for those wanting a South Indian food fix. I went around 13-20pm and got served my idlis pretty quickly but as for the other stuff I wanted, including my bill, seemed to take a long time, even after a number of reminders. In the end, I had to go up the desk and pay as I was getting late. The idlis and rasam were good but the chutneys and sambhar were a bit lack lustre. The coffee did not have the strength and aroma that is expected of South Indian coffee- wasn't sure what coffee it was but it was drinkable.

My friend and I wanted something veggie for lunch and we decided to visit CD. Place has been done up, clean and friendly staff. Menu is very extensive with veg And non-veg food. We had masala dosa each and Vadaa to share. Food was very nice, pipping hot and spicy enough for my palate followed by nice coffee. Prices are very reasonable and I'll definitely visit the place again.

Yesterday, Monday at 1:45pm, an Indian friend treated me to a delicious spread of delicately spiced food at this cheap and cheerful restaurant. With only four other occupied tables, the friendly waitress looked after us as expected.I'd eaten food never before tried and relished every sensation experienced with my eyes, nose, hand and mouth.I'll definitely be back.

Took a while to take our order and then serve our drinks. Tried ordering at least a couple of starter dishes on the menu but was simply told they can't make them. Ordered Paneer 65 instead and was really dissapointed. No taste and definitely not what Paneer 65 is. Ordered Special Masala Dosa for main and they forgot to add the other masala mentioned in the menu. Waitress (who was very polite) then bought it out in a separate bowl (was cold though) as i didnt want to send it back. The dosas were average. Been to the Wembley branch and really enjoyed my meals there. The Croydon branch definitely needs to take lessons.

Out of the multiple south Indian places in the area, a much higher quality And service was expected, they have so much competition around, nit sure how they get away with such low quality. we arrived at 9:10pm husband ,wife and two small kids.Waited more then 20 minutes for menu after that we got the menu waited another 20 minutes the finally we place order i wanted to order chicken lollipop waiter told me order something else because it takes long to cook chicken lollipop and that was it called the manager over he was bigger idiot then the waiter he had a cheek to told me its because we are closing but what about my 45 minutes to an hour wasted for you to take order. Spoke to another table next to me thy were angry as well they had been there over two hours so my friends save your self embarrassment and do not go here at all.

This is a restaurant you should avoid. In their internet sight it shows a bar menu with alcohol, But guess what they do not serve alcohol, only found out when we went there for a meal. The service was really bad, I ordered some soft drinks from the menu which they had run out so I had water instead. I got my meal first, when I finished my meal, my son got his meal, when he finished his meal, my wife and my two smaller children received their meal. Potions were very small, the food was not so nice, the coconut chutney smelt stale. It was a very bad experience. Never ever we will go there again. what a waste of money.

I used to be a regular at this place however stopped going to the restaurant about 6 months ago due to the lack of cleanliness.I went back for lunch with friends and I was taken back with the new décor, food choice and cleanliness. Selection of food is still good, more variety, tasty and still reasonably priced.Definitely worth a visit!

We went here a lot when we lived round the corner & often took the kids who always found something they liked. The food is lovely & unlike anything I've had anywhere since. My parents, who've travelled a lot in Asia tell me it's pretty authentic as South India/ Sri Lankan cuisine. Nice anyway, I would recommend it. We miss it now we don't live nearby.

Yes great food but my only disappointment was ringing up for a takeaway order which was accepted only to get there and be told they didn't have the main dishes I ordered so had to choose differently....I have eaten there several times but that was my only disappointment so far....

The buffet has become weekends only. Its £7 for meat eaters and £6 for vegetarians. There are mutton and chicken on bone curries. Vegan options very tasty. Rice, veg biryani type and plain, uttaapams, little pancakes, and sambar, parippu, rasams etc.Sometimes pots are not refilled for ages, so do tell the staff. Otherwise fine.Have yet to make it to the a la carte options.

Love this place for cheap, authentic, spicy south indian food. Will cook food that's not on the menu, just tell them what you like and if they have the ingredients they always aim to please. Great buffet at lunchtime. Friendly staff.

I have eaten in this place previously but this time was not the greatest experience. The food was not as how it used to be. The quality and taste has changed. The desert came in a beautiful clay pot but can't say the same about the taste not for the price. I used the ladies room to wash my hands the soap was not there. The doors were all dusty and the place seemed a bit run down. But the good thing was the people serving the food were attentive and friendly and gave very good service.

Worst South Indian food. very unhygienic. Was sick for 2 days after eating here. Won't recommend anybody to visit this place.

Visited here couple of times. It was dosas both time. While I don't have any complaints with the food, the waitress scrwed up my second visit by giving me a non veg dosa to me when I ordered a veg dosa..

We have visited here a few times but not been that impressed. We were in the area this morning and thought we would drop in for breakfast.Pleasantly surprised. My Idlys were delicious. Really soft and tasty. The best i have eaten in a restaurant. Chutneys and sambhar were great.My husband enjoyed the breakfast buffet a lot.Service could be improved. Whenever we travel we always look for somewhere Asian to eat, the Chennai Dosa in Croydon was no exception. We had come down from Worcestershire so I could compete in a competition at Crystal Palace (couldn't get any closer), but what a stroke of luck. We walked down London Rd Croydon and came across CD, walked in and the rest is history. The staff showed to a table and left us with a menu, the setting was quite modern, we looked at the menu and tried to identify anything dish on it we actually knew! No chance, when the waiter came back we told him the kind of food we like and asked him to order a meal for us; what an experience, meat on the bone and various other dishes with a Dosa the size of a table cloth! We couldn't have wanted for more and at the end of the night it cost just £30. This place is somewhere we have always mentioned to our friends, they come from the "Black Country" and Birmingham which they feel is the home of the authentic curry, have they got a lot to learn!?Surprise, surprise a Chennai Dosa has opened in the suburbs of Birmingham, we have got the menu and can't wait to repeat the experience.

Chennai Dosa have several branches all over London, and I've visited the one in Croydon several times over the years. I could not believe the prices the first time I visited. The food is very very yummy (most dishes). Its a "quick eat" kind of place, so don't expect candles and liveried staff. The restaurant does a buffet as well, but it didn't look very good any time I checked it out. When ordering a la carte, I've always found the food to be freshly prepared and tasty.

If you're looking for a quick and satisfying meal for two people at under £20 this is your place.There's no dressing up the slightly grubby feel of the place, and the service is hit and miss however, I suppose that's reflected in the pricing. The menu has changed since I last came here, so I think it may be under new management; I notice that all of the tandoori items have been removed.We visited here on a Tuesday evening and had a starter, a meat dish, two dosas, two porathas and two drinks for about £19; we left feeling satisfied and without a hole in our pockets! This place is certainly good value for money.One major gripe I do have about the place is that, despite having a proper till and EPOS system, they don't accept card payments. Even though it's relatively cheap, I see no reason for a restaurant to not take cards and, as we move to a cashless society these guys will have to adapt.

Dont try it from here!! I believe it starts with the service...a friendly greeting including eye contact and a smile, attention to your customer waiting for a menu, offering a table while you browse the menu and maybe a offering to help your customer choose what they would like as in some cases that would be nice. Service here is awful, staff could not understand my English acccent and appeared to busy to even serve me. Waited for 5 mins at the counter while staff hurried back and forth for maybe 10 seated people that where all served and eating before I entered, eye contact with me was avoided .....I just wanted a menu. I did not go near the buffet area, it seemed pointless and not tended too....bits of random food was all around it and i just did not wish to be put off by anything strange I may have found at the bottom of one of those containers. May I add I have been here twice just to make sure im not being judemental...but the food is poor, greasy and half full containers, the Dosa iI was looking forward too having and was a bit disappointed in the taste and quality considering how long it took them to serve me...15 mins in all on the second visit, 10 in the first and the restaurant was really not full at all, so no excuse. I was not made to feel welcome, not help or even the offering to help me with the menu....iI should have just carried on walking past this establishment and had some home cooked food.

We are one of the very regulars who dine in and take away each week After there is a management change I feel the quality of food is much better than. Every before Service bit slow still since there is a lot of new staff but am sure it will get better with time Kudos and all the best

Came here on the recommendation of my son's friend. Can only think this branch was not the same one he had visited. It was AWFUL. Can't imagine why anyone is giving this place good reviews! The service was not great - very slow. Many items on the menu were unavailable (including Biryani!!). When our order eventually came it was not impressive. Three of us ordered starters - only two of us got them and they were on the same plate that we had to share! The third starter never arrived. One of the main courses was brought out at same time as starters. Very odd! And it was wrong! It was meant to be chicken and it was mutton!! Eventually other main courses began to dribble out ....... one ... then five mins later another would arrive. My rice appeared and then about ten mins later the curry (or gravy as they prefer to call it!) the very last to appear! . And the food was very hot and spicy. I left most of mine and that is almost unheard of! If you like very hot curries then perhaps you might like this place! Even our drinks order (which took ages to come) was incorrect! Turns out the order slip was "lost" or "thrown away" and the waiter had to recall our order for six people!! Why not come back and ask us? I . see this happened to another contributor? Wonder how often they can use this excuse? The ambiance was terrible. The music was far too loud, so people were having to talk louder to be heard. No alcohol is served ( although the soft drinks were nice, apart from the coke which was warm. So was the water provided on the table.) The decor and furniture were like a "greasy spoon cafe". Do not go near this place - it's awful!! And we won't be back.

In the past Chennai Dosa has been one of if not The Best South Indian restaurants in Croydon....but I CANNOT say the same about it now. I ordered a chillie masala dosa as a take away It was filled with unwashed coriander leaves and big pieces of green chillies.I had to get rid of it as eating grit would have been easier on the teeth... No potato filling in it at all...so so disappointing. I am so disappointed with the food. Was so hungry when I sat down to eat it. Glass fronted restaurant looks empty. Then you discover its on two levels and all the customers, food and staff are upstairs. Its very Sri Lankan/South Indian and all the better for it. There was too much that sounded good and looked good, especially the masala (and other) Dosas, a crab curry, and varied Ceylonese dishes. I couldn't decide and went buffet to taste a selection, only £6.99.Buffet featured about ten options including lovely little pancake/yeasty breads called uttappams, varied vegetarian options, which were tasty - sambar, a kind of tamarindy rasam, avial, some kind of mixed veg in a tasty sauce, veg biryani, and mild and flavourful chicken and lamb curries, both on the bone.I went here because the excellent Dosa Lounge is closed on Mondays, and would recommend to adventurous diners or those who are hungry. Its a half km walk to the right out of W Croydon station, or about 2 stops along to "Sumner Road" stop on the 250 and 109 buses on the opposite pavement facing West Croydon BR exit.

Agree with a lot of current reviews. This place used to be buzzing earlier, but with lot of other South Indian food restaurants opening nearby + ignoring the customers has led to this place losing its charm.Note that Chennai Dosa has come out poor on previous food inspection and hygiene. You can get a sense of this in this outlet.However, its still a decent eatery, the buffet is value for money (though the items are not replenished quick enough). Service was quick.Dont expect a lot and you wont be disappointed.

There was a time when I use to go to this place regularly. Two things have changed - this place has gone seriously down hill and secondly, I can get dosa batter and make dosas at home. Food hygiene standards seem to be majorly lacking here. The place continues to sell on the basis of cheap food. Please Chennai dosa, get your act together, clean the place up, and improve food quality.

I have been trying Chennai Dosa for quite some time now and in different branches. Couple of years ago, there were really good.BUT in this branch, I felt, their curry looks and tastes different everytime we visit, even when you order the same dish. Most of items in the menu were unavailable when we went and staff mentioned that we arrived late and almost closing time. I think you should close the restaurant much early when you don't have much dishes to serve, instead of upsetting hungry customers or don't allow to customers.Staffs needs training on how to promptly engage with customers rather than expecting customers to call them everytime.Also, still expecting customers to pay by cash! Really?Overall, very disappointed, no tasty food, low quality service. May not visit again.

We have been to this eatery a few times in the last few years, most recently about a month ago. Quick service, no fuss, simple, functional and usually fairly clean.South Indian fare- reasonably authentic- they can stint on accompaniments such as the wet and dry chutnies, but they will refill it for you if asked politely!Recommended stuff- chicken 65, onion uthappam, mysore masala dosa. Their Thalis are not my cup of tea.Reasonably priced.Can get quite busy on weekends.Service can be a bit iffy and the quality can be a bit hit & miss. We have had some very good food on occasions as well as terrible service and cold food on other days.It is the luck of the draw- I wish they could be consistent all the time- this will ensure better ratings.

They serve decent food - not doubt. But food is never same standard - sometimes hot, sometimes cold - so it is more of a lottery if your experience is good. Surprising for a chain restaurant not to accept debit/credit cards in this day and age. We have stopped going to this restaurant 4-5 months back - just got around to writing about it

A good palace for South Indian cuisine, period. All the South Indian delicacies are very well done and as authentic as authentic could be but that's just about it. Avoid the Indo-Chinese and the Mughlai. The staff are friendly and efficient. Overall a pleasant experience.

I went for an early mid week dinner at the West Croydon branch.My experience of West Croydon south Indian restaurant has been quite good so I thought to give Chennai Dosa a go.The restaurant itself is simply decorated with well worn seats and tables.On entering the Restaurant I was welcomed by a waitress who showed me to my chosen table.I ordered a Salty Lassi drink and for my starter I ordered Gobi 65 and Masala Dosa for main course.It took a long time for the drink to arrive, that is after prompting the waitress who was new to the job and did not know too much about the menu.As for the food, the Gobi (Cauliflower), it tasted fresh and crisp not too spicy to my liking.The Masala Dosa with its usual assortment of dips was nicely presented on a special metal dish and tasted pretty good, the best I have had in West Croydon so far.The service,again was not as good as it should be, I had to ask for part of missing cutlery. On the whole, very good food but where is the service.Ron Ben-Zvi.

Went there with friends for Dosa, sambar was ice cold and Dosa arrived late after 2 reminders, we have been to the Croydon Chennai Dosa before also and immediately realized the food taste is different, sambar, chutneys, chilli paneer, everything we ordered was different. Cold and bland lacking taste and spices.The final grand touch from staff was when we paid bill and realized that they had added items twice to increase the bill! When pointed out, the staff member at counter looked really sheepish!! No more visits to this place in future.

went there with my family to have a nice dinner only to be welcomed by a rude waitress, after waiting for 30 minutes, asking us to order quick as the store is busy. nevertheless we ordered parathas , 2 currys few currys and dosa for my dad. seeing as the parathas were for £1.10 each we expected t to be store made, only to find out that it was store bought frozen shaana paratha (you get 5 for £1). we asked the waitress if it was store made and she lied to our faces and said that we are imagining things. after this she avoided our table and didnt come close to us. went to another waiter and he offered to swap for store made chappathi after accepting the lie. informing us that it would take 10 minutes. we waited for 30 more minutes, no sign of chappathi or my dad's dosa, orders about 1.5 hours ago. seeing as we didnt have any bread we couldnt eat our currys as well. so we decided to leave by paying for what was taken a bite out of. the waitress who served us first was at the till and even though we were waiting at the till she ignored us and stared into empty space. when we then called her she said that the other orders were forgotten but we still have to pay for it. After we explained everything to her she refused to then take our payment by saying that the store does not want our payment. would not call the manager even after requesting. horrible service and horrible food. I wonder why the restaurant is even allowed to run. never going back to the croydon branch especially and will suggest all my friends to avoid the place. staff should be sacked and people who are good at basic serving skills should be employed.

wost experience, poor service, waited for 1 hr for foodordered food initially and after 30 mts they come back and said that the order is lost re odered, brought 2/3rd of foofd amd missed my daughters order.finally as my daughter left most of the food asked them to pack and they said they will give a box for us to pack.hotel saravana bhavan and taste of india are the best.will never go to any chennai dosa againshame on youvery poor

Southern Indian buffet, a very good selection )2-3 veg styles, 1 lamb 1 chicken casserole style 2 rice 1 flat bread 1 raita 1 ?rempa/tempeh?, 1 rice pudding/rice noodle dessert always lovely complex flavours with some whole spices.All like, total loveliness.

I visited the restaurant on 24/01/15. We decided to go here because we had someone who wanted to try it. I ate the Chicken 65. It was decent, but the atmosphere of the restaurant just makes it worse. It looks very dated inside and the toilets are terrible!! Its like nobody bothers to clean them. I then decided to try the chicken noodles. That was absolutely terrible!! It tasted nothing like noodles. It was way too spicy. This place needs improvement desperately. I recommend not visiting this place

We went here for breakfast buffet this morning.Good selection of items, dosa, oothampam, idli, pongal, vada etc.Idli disappointing. Cold and HardTasty masala dosaNice atmosphere.Good value for 4.99 each.Prefer the other Chennai dosa branches though (Manchester branch buffet lunch is the best)

I had dinner two nights in a row at the Croydon restaurant. Food was fantastic (though the night I had idli and dosa I had too much). Service both times was friendly and helpful. Given the number of Asian families there, the food must be authentic!

Never been here before so went in for lunch. Sat down, waiters one short, one tall buzzing around. Waited, people near me got menu's. Waited, other party paid and left. Waited, after half an hour I got up and left.Never been here before. Can't imagine I'll ever want to go again.

The price of the entire menu is comparatively less. Though it cant be treated as a restaurant based on its looks, it is a good place to stop by and eat any day/time. The morning breakfast is good and is just 4£. The Biriyani that comes with the Lunch and dinner buffet is awesome.

Went for breakfast buffet, ho my god lovely food home away from home, staff are nice it's improved in food taste recent days, less staffed but they are nice, and clean too....! Always prefer to go to Chennai Dosa rather than going to dosa n chatty. The service is much quicker then the other dosa places on the same road......!

It's cheap, great tasting vegetarian Indian food. Go for the Dosa. Not the service. Or decor for that matter.

I clearly stated I have a severe nut allergy and the waiter advised me on which dishes are 'nut free'. I double-checked on all my orders, to ensure he understood me, and it still had nuts in. I was violently sick in the toilets and, without meaning to be too dramatic, I could have died. I told the staff I should not have to pay and the man insisted it was nut free (it definitely wasn't). Additionally, the whole time, he had a massive smirk on his face, refused to call the manager, as I had requested, and was not sorry for the incident at all.Terrible.Don't go back here!!!!!Service is very slow as per other reviews. Food is quite nice though, although it concerns me as to what they put in it as it's so cheap, especially the meat.Never go here!

We had dinner here.....Food was tasty...Dosa, biriyani and mutton fry was delicious but something was missing in their service....But in Croydon I would prefer only Chennai dosa....

We stopped there for a quick bite on our way back from Ikea. I was surprised by the taste and the prices. I'd rate it even higher than nearby Dosa n Chutney where its like hit and miss kind of experience. Would love to try their lunch buffet for £4.99. Only tip-plz do check your bill in the end or make the waiter repeat your order as they tend to forget sometimes. Will go again
