The only detail here is why are you not dinning here? Chief really knows what he is doing, basic ingredients eg onions.. so well cooked and prepared. Hot plates! Seafood starters fab. Steak? We were a table of 8 and everyone was as ordered, and my mine was frankly the best in a long while xx

Lovely meal with my fiancé. I had the chicken patê for a starter and my fiancée had the garlic bread with cheese, both beautiful. Then for main I had the prawn in garlic and spaghetti and my fiancée had the lasagna. We got some chips and garlic chips on the side. We had appletizers for refreshments and there was a bottle of chilled water on arrival and through the meal. Service was prefect and attentive.

We were staying for a week in the area and ate out quite a bit... and this restaurant was far and away the best! We were visiting nearby Mount Stewart and the lady in the gift shop recommended Chef & Manager and she was SO right! Food, service, surroundings... all excellent... especially the duck which was delicious! Highly recommend!

Ordered a medium fillet steak, it was cooked to perfection, melt in mouth, best most tasty fillet I've had for a long time. Came with mushrooms, also very delicious, & little basket of chips which were so good I finished the lot! Our waitress was super efficient, polite & friendly, a perfect evening rounded off with an Irish Coffee, so exquisite I was tempted to have another! We will definitely be back. What a great place, excellent food, and the service is very good.

The service was very on point, no waiting or asking for anything. The food was something else altogether. We ordered the garlic mushrooms as a starter and they where delicious. We then got the fillet as a main and asked for it med to rare and it just melted in your mouth it was that perfect. The desert was amazing the raspberry and chocolate cake. The atmosphere was so relaxing and enjoyable it was honestly then best Saturday night as a couple. Then again anytime I have been there it has been great.

Had to send my food back twice as I had asked for medium to well done, and it came out rare on both occasions. The staff were lovely and they took the price of my meal off the bill. I came away hungry as I was put off my food. I was so disappointed as my daughter bought me a voucher for Christmas and I might as well threw it in the bin.

Great venue, ambiance and staff. Had the soup, sirloin steak and Vanilla desert. Steak was a bit over cooked and not a great cut (hence 4 and not 5 stars) but the rest were great. Service was brilliant.

We made an impromptu visit to this restaurant. Was pleased to see they have a licence and it’s also BYO wine too. I had the fish special which was the Monk Fish. It was amazing. The food was fresh, tasty and well presented. The staff were very attentive but allowed us space to enjoy our evening. We will definitely be back.

Went for a Valentine's Night Meal. It was the normal A La Carte Menu, and we loved the food. Salt and Chilli Squid and Meatballs for starters. A Mediterranean salmon fillet and spicey prawn spagetti as mains. All full of flavour. Service was also excellent. Thank you Veronica

We live locally and Chef and Manager is one of our favourites. I have some dietary requirements and it is never too much trouble to check the ingredients with the chefs or make adjustments to a dish. And BYO is a huge bonus! One of our favourites for a night out as a couple or with friends.

Food is good but one thing that’s a big no no in my books is that every time you drive back near the rear door staff are smoking, it makes it a very dirty looking restaurant unfortunately, as they are standing right in the doorway so I’m guessing the smoke goes directly into the kitchen. A real put off!

Visited the restaurant today with my partner, I have special dietary requirements and have a serious stomach condition which I know can be a handful for restaurants. The options for vegan were extremely limited and the salad was covered in a sea of balsamic vinegar with 4 falafel. One of which tasted like chicken. This was earlier today and since I have been violently sick. Even puked up in the restaurant. The staff assured us this was all prepped correctly, however I beg to differ If you are vegan or have dietary requirements please be careful in the place . I didn't want to cause a scene in the restaurant as I was nervous and in a state of shock I wanted out of there without causing a scene as there were only 2 elderly couples in the restaurant. This was a lunch time that was a nightmare and I don't think I will be going back. On the positive side my partner said her food was good. Which is why it gets 1 star from me.

We came for lunch on Father’s Day, two adults and two children. As before we received an excellent welcome by the hostess and shown to a table downstairs. The menu is lovely, A La Carte and also a separate one for the little people. Specials were explained and we ordered starters of prawns and my favourite salt and chilli squid. Mains were rib eye steak and a special of mixed grill. The children ordered chicken strips. Food was excellent, fresh, great quality and very well presented, this restaurant doesn’t falter and food is consistently good. There’s a reason it’s no. 1 in Ards. Rib eye steak was really big and cooked to perfection, mixed grill was very nice, lots of meat and perfectly cooked chips. Childrens chicken strips were home made and throughly enjoyed. The bill was fairly reasonable considering currant rises, BYO helps however the wine list was also good value. Would have loved a few cocktails, definitely next time. Finally the serving staff were very friendly and courteous, they made the children welcome and that means a lot to us. Looking forward to returning. Thank you.

I have found myself in Chef and Manager a few times and each time I wonder why I cannot say I eat here all the time. It's easy to be seduced by the bigger restaurants in the locale that shout for your attention but I find this eatery to have a warmth and ambiance most lack and this is certainly created by Veronika and the staff and their calm, welcoming disposition. The ever amiable chef almost always pops his head out with genuine smiles and nods and you simply do not get that very often. Relaxing and simply a pleasure to sit in, the food is always flavourful, the menus well thought out and creative and the presentation delectably inviting. Ideal for business, family or intimate meals, I recommend that you make the effort or journey and sink into a lovely dining experience.

This was my fourth time to Chef and Manager, as other reviews mention it is consistently good, that’s what makes it great and now my go to place for excellent food and service.

This was my third visit since re-opening and probably my last review. My problem is finding something new to say. There were 5 in our party for Sunday lunch but we were delayed by about an hour because one of the party was committed to an on-line interview. We kept the restaurant informed and they couldn't have been more empathetic. Warm welcome as ever and delicious food for all. Most took the two course special but one opted for the a la carte. I made the mistake of being unable to resist the baklava so waddled very contentedly from the restaurant. Great food, great staff and very pleasant ambiance plus staff diligent in Covid-19 protection measures.

My family are frequent diners at the Chef & Manager and we have never been disappointed with the consistently high standard of food available, together with the professional, efficient and genuinely welcoming attitude of the staff led by Veronica the manager and Blend the head waiter. The menu has an extensive number of dishes of mainly Mediterranean cuisine, many of which we as a family have tasted over time and thoroughly enjoyed and last night was no exception. I had the Turkish fish soup for starters, followed by Monkfish with spicy potatoes and sauce, chic peas and vegetables, both of which are the best I’ve ever had. My wife and daughter had the excellent succulent beef burgers (accompanied by hand cut chips and vegetables) which are huge and the best you will taste anywhere. The Chef does a fantastic job in the preparation of each dish and the flavours are superb. He certainly deserves credit for churning out so many wonderful dishes. The Chef & Manager continues to be a consistent, value for money, top notch dining experience and Newtownards is lucky to have such a first class restaurant!Looking forward to our next visit already. :)

Called in here for early dinner and was very pleasantly surprised. There is normal a la carte menu and a special one course for 11.95 or two courses for 14.95... I had goats cheese fritter for starter...it was delicious then we had chicken breast with mash and chicken goujons with chips...the creamy mustard sauce was gorgeous and veg were beautifully fresh and cooked perfectly.. Staff were friendly and knowlegeable and very attentive. I would definitely go back as it was a perfect meal at a reasonable price.

Last night was the first time I visited this restaurant. I turned forty and my friend took me here for dinner. I was very impressed. We went in and was approached a woman who was most welcoming. The interior was fantastic and the lighting was excellent. I do have to mention that this is one of the most spotlessly clean restaurants I have ever seen. I work in the trade myself and was highly impressed by the level of cleanliness. Tables, cutlery, crockery and glassware were spotless. We ordered wine and steaks. I'm not a wine drinker, nor a wine critic, but it was very nice. Steak was massive and was cooked to perfection. The side of chips that came with the steak were delicious. I will be back very soon. And my actual rating is a six.

Called and booked a table for 2 at short notice on a Friday night before Christmas. Accommodated with no issues despite being busy. Great waiting staff who were very polite, knowledgeable and not in the least intrusive. One excellent sirloin steak and surprisingly good turkey dinner later and we left extremely pleased with the food, service and comfort. Being thanked for being customers was a nice touch at the end and I'd heartily recommend this place for an evening meal.

Out for an early evening birthday celebration. It had been a while since the last visit. Good to see standards have not dropped. Warm welcome and seated promptly. Restaurant was busy, but the service was excellent. Decent menu for an early bird. Food was delivered promptly and it was excellent. We booked on a Friday for our wedding anniversary and had a really delicious meal. All meals are cooked to order so you may have to wait a bit, but its well worth the wait.
