Excellent restaurant, food is good and nice place to be, but don’t forget, the owner lets the waiters haggle, so you can get a few pounds knocked off if you ask!

I love fine cheese as well as French food so I don't know how I missed this place at Brixton Village. Spotted it after eating nearby when the place was not too busy so made a visit a week later to try it. There were so many things I wanted to try like fondue, mac and cheese, mussels etc. The person there was really helpful and frank about the everything which helped me to decide. Ordered the open baguette and a side of mussels however when I saw how good it was from the person next to me I changed it to a full portion. The baguette was good as expected, the tomato ketchup wasn't needed because I felt mustard would be a better compliment. The mussels were the star of the show as expected because they use fresh mussels which are soft and springy. The blue cheese sauce was lush and the baguette slices were perfect for mopping it up. Will definitely be coming back to try the other dishes.

Fantastic experience, especially for someone with severe allergies - the servers were not only knowledgeable, but welcoming, and were able to advise on safe options. The cheese fondue was absolutely delicious, and the bubbles were perfect. Definitely one to return to!

We had such a good time at Cheese & Fizz. I was craving a cheese fondue, and it was delicious, it really tasted like home in the Alps, if not better! Also, we had champagne with it and this one a first but definitely not the last time! Can't wait to come back.

Fabulous service, gorgeous cheese. Really had a great experience and the tzatziki beer was certainly interesting and surprisingly nice. We were interested to try a specific cheese and they changed it on the board for us which was awesome.

Had a great couple of drinks at Cheese + Fizz. The market has a great atmosphere and there are many good options. Good drinks menu, cheapest champagne by glass is £12.00 not bad for London prices. Good selection of other wines too. The snack selection is great. Cheese is of the highest quality and there is a large variety. Our servers were great, special shout out to Samatha.

The food here is excellent. We didn't realise baked cheese could be so delicious. We ordered the special fondue for 2, escargot, and the sausage. The food portions were generous and we were pleasantly stuffed. However, the service was poor. We had a 6pm booking and were offered a table outside without heating. There were other tables outside near heating that weren't occupied but the staff were reluctant to switch our table because the tables were reserved at 7pm and 7:30pm. It was 2 degrees outside so we felt that this was a bizarre response. We ended up closer to the heater after negotiating but it left a bad impression because the other tables sat empty well past 7pm anyway and felt that we froze for no reason. Excellent food but there is room to improve.

Had the afternoon tea which was so delicious. The cheeses were absolutely delicious, baguette, macaroons were great, canelé too. Champagne was perfect. Service was great, super friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend and go back.

Went to Brixton for an "afternoon tea" of cheese and champagne. Cheese was mouldy (not the blue cheese). When we complained and pointed out the mould the staff told us "it's OK too eat", when we challenged them about it they told us that it is acceptable to have a certain amount of mould on the food. We were not happy and then they tried to bribe us with a free hot dish. I will not go there again. Appalling food standard and dismissive staff.

As a french person living in London I love coming to this place, it is very lovely and the service excellent! The Camembert fondu is amazing especially the truffle one! Everything is worth the price as it makes you feel in France and allow you to discover french cuisine and champagne. A gem in Brixton Village !

I went to Brixton last week and it was spectacular. The place has always been lovely but with the renovations it is simply another level. The murals that go around the shop and up to the ceiling transport you. The food and staff tied the whole thing together! Can’t wait to come back soon!

I was in Brixton for a meeting and a colleague suggested to meet at Cheese+Fizz. Newly renovated and colorful has a fun ambiance. We went for the fondue experience and a 5-selection cheese plate, as we both needed some comfort food. It was very tasty, just what we needed. They have a nice selection of bubbles and wine. The staff was lovely.

I have visited Cheese+Fizz for the first time yesterday. I loved the decoration and the beautiful painting across the store, I have been told the artist is a French guy call Atma studio. The have an amazing selection of still and sparkling wine at a reasonable price and I had a beautiful raclette. I will come back soon, for sure!!

Avoid! Worst place in Brixton market! Unfriendly, overpriced, totally mediocre! Go anywhere else but here. Worst experience i’ve ever had.

Nonchalant, passive aggressive staff who purposely try to rip you off. AVOID! Genuinely appalled and insulted by the "customer service" - even the word customer seems a stretch when we were treated like an inconvenience for merely showing up and politely asking for dinner in exchange for money. Subjected to a bizarre attitude as soon as we arrived, meaning we were so uncomfortable we only ordered 1 raclette plate and a glass of wine as we wanted to scarper ASAP for a real dinner - one where we could feel respected as human beings and treated like paying customers. Waiter asked if we wanted to split the bill without showing it to us to check. Being trusting we paid - to find he had charged for an extra raclette plate! £13 for something we did not order, and certainly did not receive. We really had to try to flag his attention to get him back to actually show us our bill. After we saw what he was clearly trying to hide, he tried to claim we asked for two plates. We reminded him he came back to check our order (it wasn't written down) of one plate, and that we only received one plate. Side point it was tiny (to the point we thought more was coming out) and we left starving. He then tried to claim he could only refund one of us - not sure what glitch in technology could explain that - but we were so desperate to leave we stayed polite and just went with it. Separately, we were sassily told we couldn't sit in the warm sheltered area as it was 'booked' even though no one showed up. Another sad thing is this place seems pretty famous in the market for being awful, as we spoke to other customers after escaping. The customer service being comparable to what rats in prison get was universal - but even more shockingly other customers said this place tries to rip people off by serving them whatever cheese they have leftover - not necessarily what it says on the menu. After seeing their working style and experiencing the attempted ripping off first hand, this seems very probable. Maybe one or two of these issues would have been ok, but the combination sprinkled with the horrendous attitude was really just unacceptable. Never left a 1 star review in my life but this place needs to be called out.

nice wine and nibbles! Cheese boards a bit expensive considering the portions but great selection of choice. Really friendly female server but the owner was so rude and passive aggressive because we decided not to get a raclette. We still spent £60 (1 hour) but this was not good enough for him. Put off by his lack of customer service. The heaters are broken so the venue is cold. 2 other cheese and wine options in the market that i’d recommend instead!

Came here to pick up a selection of cheeses for a dinner party. The staff were extremely helpful and picked out a fabulous selection of cheeses with accompanying chutneys for me. Our guests were raving about it all night!

fantastic food 🥺🥺🥺 first time having raclette and the service was also incredible - the waiter patiently explained to us how to do it etc. and he was so passionate about french culture/food it was great to learn. duck confit was SUPER crispy and fatty and delicious. very good quality for both food and service.

Very unprofessional staff, the restaurant wasn’t busy but it took more than 20 minutes to get our Moscow Mule cocktails. The staff was drinking spirit shots at the back of instead of preparing orders and giving full attention to customers. We’ve ordered some nibbles that took nearly 40 minutes to arrive. Very disappointing.

We finally (FINALLY) managed to secure a new flat last week!! 🎉🏠 Which meant an excuse for some bubbles and a whole load of cheese and cured meat!! We were over in Brixton for the Tom Odell gig and found the perfect little place to celebrate our move… Cheese & Fizz was brilliant, we plumped for one of the sharing boards which comes with unlimited bread, great cheese’s and a good selection of meats and others bits to try together!! The service was fantastic, the girl who served was easily one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met - a real gem!! Our fave things: I mean you can’t argue with sitting in Brixton Market quaffing Champs and Cheese, watching people go by and a DJ knocking out tunes nearby - perfect!! 📍🚇| Less than a ten minute walk from Brixton tube station

My boyfriend and I went here for a drink to celebrate our anniversary and it is such a perfect little spot for those types of occasions. I tried the gratin which was yummy, can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. I think it will be the perfect place in winter to pretend I’m in the alps eating Raclette.

The service was good I can't lie they even produce a table for me and the person who I was with..... They had no space at the time so I was greatful...... And both male and female staff members at were very pleasing to look at...... I have nothing negative to say about...... Which is kind of weird because all the times I used to walk past it, I would frown and say that this place is not for we as in the locals that live in the area...... Part of me still feels that it is not we, but when I look at it if you're bringing a certain type of clientele to the area then you're also bringing money to the area to so it is a good thing.

I placed an order from Too Good To Go and part of the package i received from this venue was a chocolate bar. When the order was being collated the chap looked at the back of the chocolate bars and I did not think anything of it at the time. When I got home I noticed the chocolate bar was nearly 2 months out of date. I went back the next day to check if there was a mistake made. The same chap was extremely rude and said that is the condition with Too Good To Go. I explained that my understanding of Too Good To Go was to save on waste and not to knowingly provide a customer with a product that is nearly 2 months out of date. I asked if it was possible to exchange it for another item and he said "no take it or leave it". I am most shocked by the fact this venue knowingly gave me a very out of date product and didn't think this was wrong. I'm sure what they did was unlawful. I have shopped at this venue several times so was surprised they took this short sighted attitude, particularly given we are local and would have been happy to shop there again (but not now!)

I have been to C+F a total of 4 times. The first 2 were great (a while ago), which made me always want to go back. Went to the one in Greenwich for Valentine’s Day earlier this year, specifically to have the hot Mont d’or. We ordered as soon as we got there, as it said on the menu that it takes 30 minutes to prepare it, something I was familiar with, having had it twice in the past. After a 40 minute wait, the waitress comes over and says they don’t have the Mont dor in stock anymore and asked if we wanted to have the baked Camembert choices and that she would arrange it as if she was serving the mont dor, with bread, charcuterie and potatoes. Another 30 minutes passed and they finally brought the Camemberts with bread only. I then asked the waiter if we were going to get the other stuff too and he seemed confused and laughed at us, saying sarcastically “you want Camembert with potatoes and charcuterie?” Needless to say we were very disappointed at what should have been a romantic evening. Anyway, as you’ve guessed I really like this mont dor and decided to give it another go. I looked their menu online and saw that they had the mont dor on offer for £25. Great, so I booked a table. We get there, we’re sat outside, we ask if the heaters they have above us can be turned on and the waitress says they are broken. We then proceed to look at the paper menu she gave us. The mont dor was not showing on the menu, so I told the waitress that was the reason we went there for and she apologised and said their online menu was not up to date. She then goes inside and talk to the rest of the staff, comes back and say actually we do have the mont dor in stock. Great! Then she says it’s going to cost £28. I asked why since the online menu was showing £25 but hey I’m not gonna make a fuss because of £3, even though it’s wrong. They then proceed to cook the mont dor. The menu says (and I’ve had it twice before) it’s cooked with champagne, garlic, served with potatoes, charcuterie, and bread and it serves 2-3 people. We wait half hour for it and it arrives cold, to the point that you can barely dip anything in it, reeking of garlic and not tasting anything like champagne or any alcohol at all (again, tasted completely different in the past). We wanted to offer a solution so we ask them to put it in the oven again. While we wait, we look at the board. This is for 2-3 people: 8 thin slices of baguette, a tiny portion of old cold tasteless potatoes, 8 thin slices of “charcuterie” which was some sort of French salami, 6 pieces of pickles. A tiny portion of salad leaves with some yellow sauce on top. We get the cheese back and it’s still cold. It’s not the usual hot runny mont dor fondue style that you would dip stuff in. My boyfriend asked for a glass of champagne that apparently they didn’t have anymore, and the waitress said we only have this one, which was showing only by the bottle, and she said it was £12 - if she had said 13, 14, we wouldn’t know and it was more expensive than the one he asked for. Now, you would think that they would try and accommodate the customer in these difficult times for them but it doesn’t look like it’s the case in this place. We paid more money for less and left frustrated again, smelling like fresh garlic. The one star is for the staff - they were attentive and helpful. Other than that, just a huge disappointment. Update: have emailed them as asked, didn’t hear back.

Good wine, nice cheese, reasonable price. Various champagne and cheese options, only one red, white and rose (the red was very nice). Inside has heating (outside can be quite cold depending on the weather). Recommend it.

We came here for some cheese and dessert wine after a big old dinner. And it was fabulous. We were given three different cheeses, each were incredible flavoursome, that we ended up buying the truffle cheese. Each cheese came with an amazing garnish that went so well with it. Dan, really helped us and described each cheese superbly. His recommendations were extremely useful and he really picked the perfect selection. If you come, definitely ask for him as he gave fantastic suggestions!

This was really awesome. We walked by, heard the music. There was this great vibe and it just pulled us back. We sat down and a really nice lady came to help us. We just decided in the afternoon to go for the champagnes tasting. The champagnes together with the fuets was great. Really loved this!

If you've visited any of the other Champagne + Fromage offerings, this one in Brixton Market is pretty similar. It's simple, tasteful and the staff are great. The Bixton market gives it a great vibe (apart from the the occasional waft from the fish market) and there are heaters + blankets for the winter. Will definitely head back!

We shared the XL platter and some house champagne. It was amazing. The guy serving took control and chose our cheeses and meats based on our likes and dislikes. Go, just go. It's great.

Really shocked by service in this place, had a really good experience before but the staff was more concerned about wrapping cheese than serving me. I said to her "since you are busy, I'll go and let you be", to which her response was nonchalant. I'm glad I didn't waster the £50 I was planning to spend there.

Rude and arrogant staff with a hint of snooty poor customer service.

It has a very nice ambient feel, and I decided to order the racelette and tartiflade. I was very disappointed when the waitress (Who we saw drinking behind the bar) presented us with a small plate of simple cut up potatoes with a stingy amount of cheese and a Sainsbury's mixed salad. On the menu this had been described as a 'hearty dish' - which it certainly wasn't. For £9, you would expect something more than a dish that looks like a starter. The only positive I can add is the red wine was fantastic and the cured sausages outside were delicious when brought home and cooked. The blankets were a nice homely touch.

Small negative first - they confused our booking of 8 people and gave us a table for 6 but it was sorted quickly with some rearrangements of the room. The chairs aren't the most comfortable especailly for our pregnant friend but anything bigger wouldnt fit in the shop! Positives - staff friendly, very knowledgeable and attentive. But the most important thing was that the food was delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed every bit and jeaslous of each others. Easily coped with special food requests for pregnant friend. Drinks are a bit expensive but the main thing is champagne! But food was good value for all the choice, options and quality.
