Came with friends for my birthday meal and cannot fault anything, service was amazing, atmosphere was great, everyone is so friendly, thank you to Hayley and Lisa for making the night so special! Had the New York chicken burger, wouldn’t order a burger from anywhere else, food is always amazing, thanks to Tom, Rich, Josh and Finley everyone’s food was spot on!

I was skeptical as there were several reviews that weren't favourable BUT it was dog friendly and nearby to our accommodation! Me and my husband ate here during peak times on a Saturday so it was quite busy. We sat in the bar area with our 2 dogs. I love the decor, the atmosphere and the staff all seemed quite happy and polite. I ordered the lamb, which was absolutely divine, it fell off the bone. My husband had a triple stack burger and he said it was really nice, even though he struggled to eat it all! Prices seem fair for the portions and location. We are keen to return with our kids!

We were a family of 5, with young kids plus 1 grandparent. We were seated very quickly, kids menus had colouring in the back and we also got crayons too which kept them busy and entertained. Helen was our waitress and she was amazing! Brilliant with the kids and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was average and was very overpriced as were the drinks, we only had soft drinks and a tea.

It was the first time we had tried Charnallies, the service was fantastic and the food was unbelievable. The only downside, during the winter months, it is extremely cold inside. They have booths with rads, and portable heaters, but it's a massive place, with a huge window front

Overall a lovely meal out with husband just before Christmas. There was a lovely atmosphere we lots of family's and gatherings happening and the restaurant did not appear stressed it was managing very big orders and everyone appeared to enjoying their meals and time together.

Very loud as the tables are closed together. But the waiting staff are friendly and inclusive. Food is okay for the price it is.

Haven't been here for a while but have always had a good meal this time not so impressed. There was no heating and it was a very cold evening I ordered a pizza which was nice with lots of toppings but my partner had the pulled pork wrap, She said the meat was very chewy and had difficulty in eating it She gave me a piece and it was definitely rubbery never had pulled pork like this normally it's very tender. The drinks especially the cocktails were nice and reasonably priced. Would come here again but in summer and avoid the pulled pork.

It’s always our go-to place ! Every time me and my partner go on a date night we come here. Every bit of food I’ve had whether that’s pizzas, pasta, steak has always been beautifully cooked and full of flavour! The service is brilliant here and they always pride themselves on customers being a priority, the restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has such a nice vibe ! My other half and my best friend had their 18th birthday meal (both now 23) there and they were so accommodating and made sure everything was ready for their special birthday and we still go on about it 5 years later. Been a customer for around 6/7 years now and it hasn’t changed one bit and I’m so glad for that, I have never had a bad experience in this whole time and I would recommend it !!

Very impressive! Six of us went and mostly had something different to eat but all enjoyed our food . It was very tasty , reasonably priced and a great choice on the menu . The decor and pictures on the walls make it very atmospheric and cosy yet plenty of room inside ie not all on top of each other ! Special mention to our waitress, Sophie , who was very friendly and helpful without being ‘over the top ‘ ! She really was the perfect waitress and a credit to the restaurant. As a veggie I’m usually limited on what to have but could had chosen a number of things ! Really pleased we stopped in there . Will deffo go again when in clacton . Thank you .

Had the the pleasure of eating here on the 6h Dec we were in Clacton for our anniversary was indecisive of where to eat and took a leap of faith.we were so glad we ate here ,food was amazing, service was fantastic atmosphere was really pleasant and pricing fair. not sure if there is more under a chain if not there should be.thankyou Hayley for the great service at the table and also the other lady who gave us a voucher the following day as it was a no brainer to go back there again! thank you refreshing level of service and qaulity

Had a fabulous few weeks eating everyday breakfast and evening meal in charnallies. Could not fault what we eat it was all very good tried many meals lamb shank just fell of the bone I would highly recommend eating there staff very polite and hard working and take care of you always asking is everything alright brilliant customer service skills.Compliments to the chefs also.

My sister booked for her birthday as she had never been. We were a table of 13 an the table had been set with a happy birthday banner which was a nice touch. Took a while for us all to arrive however equally it took as long to have our drinks order taken. Cocktails although well priced they were lacking the taste of a nice cocktail. The server had spilt the table up into five different tables which meant the ordering cod be paid for individually which along with the banners is why I gave it a 3 star. The food however was lacking in care and attention. My surf and turf priced at 27.50 was a let down for the price. My very small prawns were undercooked when it arrived so sent both sets back to be rectified. My steak was cooked OK but the fat on the sirloin had not been rendered down, and along with the minimal amount of chips was very sad on such a large oval plate. The two very dismal looking deep fried button mushrooms were just greasy and the half grilled tomato was still hard and not cooked out, the instant pepper corn sauce was very over powerdery and was the last and only thing I could taste for many hours after. My partners chicken burger looked equally sad on portion size of chips etc. All in all for the price and the oddly lack laster atmosphere I would not return in a hurry. I do believe the breakfast is good, so I may review that in the distant future. The server was great but in general the speed of drinks dispensed was very slow.

Visited here as we are on holiday and honestly can say it was the nicest meal we have had while being here. The atmosphere was great, a nice restaurant & the staff are so helpful & kind especially Helen. The food was lovely, I really enjoyed the pepperoni pizza. My partner rated the inferno burger (I believe it was called) and our Son ate all of his which was great. Overall a great experience and I would so come back here if in the area again.

What a wonderfully doggy friendly establishment to find on a wet and windy day! Doggies and their families are welcome in the bar side with around 8 booths and 5 to 6 small tables. We had the all you can eat breakfast platters, one veg and one non veg. Helen our waitress was friendly and made our doggy welcome too, listening to the banter from other diners they clearly had regulars as well as the late season holiday crowd. I wish I had enough room to try their amazing array of cakes and desserts to. A gem of an American themed Diner.

Was my husbands birthday, we went as a group. It was a party minute booking, but they were incredibly flexible. The food was amazing! My husband had his favourite - swordfish, he says it was cooked perfectly, as often previously, he would find it dry. All our party were happy with their meals. This was enhanced by our waitress- Helen, she was amazing! Fun, bubbly, helpful, engaging. Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Came here for an 18th Birthday meal the food was good as always and the service was great and being tended to making sure we had enough drinks. Sophie was a great host and we will happily be returning.

Sophie our waitress was attentive, friendly and efficient. Charnallies is the best restaurant anywhere for gluten and dairy free meals. The gf pizza was perfect and the best I`d ever had. My husband says it was the best chicken burger he`d ever had. Coffee was good and hot. Honeycomb cheesecake was delicious. And the gf blueberry muffin sundae best desert ever! Relaxing atmosphere. Clean tables. And, most importantly, very clean loos! Great lunch experience and we`ll be returning soon. No complaints and that`s unusual in itself! Highly recommend.

Not a bad place, brilliant location, friendly staff and excellent service. It feels more like a seafront cafe than a restaurant and the prices can be a bit steep. But you're guaranteed a great meal as the food's excellent.

We were in clacton for the week and popped down to the pier . We saw the restaurant on way down ( right near pier) and decided to treat ourselves. The waitress Amie was so lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The food was absolutely amazing very tasty, well presented and was reasonably priced . Will definitely go back when we in area again .

Celebrated husbands 60th birthday on Sunday. The communication has been fantastic in arranging decorations as a surprise for Adie. The whole family (22 of us) had a wonderful time. Weird review... the food was amazing! No problems there at all! The problem we had was with a member of staff and how the management handled the situation. Such a shame as it ruined such a nice meal. Would of recommended to anyone to go for sure but now I'm thinking otherwise...

Really nice atmosphere, incredibly friendly staff, swift service, excellent menu choices, delicious food and really good value for money. If I lived nearby I'd probably go every week for breakfast. Genuinely one of the best diners I've been to in the UK. Excellent options for those with dietary requirements too.

Whilst visiting Clacton I tried this restaurant and really enjoyed my meal. The Inferno burger is really good, heat but nothing too bad, and they cooked the burgers perfectly, so often I find restaurants overcook them now. The chips and salad were very good too. And.the homemade coleslaw was one of the best I have had, actually wish there had been more as it was a very small amount. It's a nice setting to eat in, with good music and plenty of tables. And our server Sophie was excellent. Would definitely eat here again.

Absolutely fantastic place nice food staff amazing worth every penny

We came here following advice that it had been updated and had improved. I wish I had taken pictures to upload as I do with all my other reviews. I had the spinach and mushroom pasta which was ok, not the worst meal I've had, my brother had the rib & steak meal for £28 which was not worth even half the price. The ribs were from a packet, the steak was miniscule and the coleslaw did not taste homemade either. My mum had the American hotdog meal which consisted of a hotdog from a supermarket on a bun with red onions (why red?), frozen chips, ans a McDonalds sauce pot of Coleslaw. We will not be returning here as our meal came to £75 and we could have gotten far better food at the McDonalds on the high street for a fraction of the price.

The staff are so lovely and welcoming, food exceeds expectations and is super satisfying, the vibes are immaculate and the place is gorgeous. Very deserving of 5 stars.

We had the weekend breakfast platter a few times now and handsdown this is one of the best breakfast in town! It’s very reasonable and super tasty and you can order as many additional things as you like throughout. Even for plant-based customers this is a great option! The staff are always super helpful and friendly too. They really look after you. We were served by Naomi a couple of times and had superb service. We’ve also been in the afternoon for 2-for-1 cocktails and that was also great. A big thank you to the Charnallies team!

This quality of food shouldn't be given even for free. Kids pasta inedible. Salad dressing awfully. Totally not recommending this place. Waste of money!!!! I am.so upset I have paid £35 for food served from tins that you get in Aldi or Lidl. No taste at all.

Saturday/sunday buffet breakfast £6 each. Yummmm Music a little too loud today. Customers had to shout to be heard over it. Today big group already seated and a visit by nigel farage and a load of reporters. Didnt stop long and didnt disturb our lovely brekkie.
