Charlie's Bistro & Lounge in Belfast

A fairly expensive menu included decent quality food. Service was laughably terrible - not enough staff, none seemed to know what they were doing, useless customer service. For example brought us creme caramel desdrts but no cutlery to eat it even after we specifically asked. At these prices they must be better than this Used to be a quality restaurant but increasingly fun down. Will avoid.

Called in for lunch without a reservation and were seated in a large dining area which was almost deserted. It filled up later with funeral guests. The food was good and well presented but the service was truly horrible. Long wait and even when we wanted to pay I had to go and search for staff to take our money. Don't go if you are in a rush!

Pre-booked a meal for 3 in Charlie’s Bistro on Sunday for 6pm. Upon arrival at the Bistro we waited at the door to be be seated as normal. For some time we were totally ignored by staff - two of which even turned their backs on us and continued talking regarding work related matters. Eventually a member of staff approached us asking us to follow her to the empty Mill Restaurant were we placed at a table for 2 with an extra place added which meant one of us was looking into a wall literally 2 feet away. (The restaurant was completely empty at the time). There were numerous empty reserved tables in Charlie’s Grill which was were we had originally booked. We made our concerns known to the staff member only to be informed that they were overbooked. However at the time of booking there did not seem to be a problem nor were there any other customers waiting for tables upon our arrival at Charlie’s Grill. As a result we had to take our custom elsewhere. Based on this experience we will unlikely be returning.

Me encontré un asiento y de nuevo, esperé ahora 10 minutos para que alguien me reconociera. En lugar de una bienvenida, me saludaron con la frase, '¿Debes estar esperando a alguien? ? ¿Nunca antes habían visto a una joven cenar sola en un viaje de trabajo? Mi respuesta fue obviamente 'no' y me dieron el menú. Anoche me pareció una mala experiencia y decidí cenar allí de nuevo esta noche debido a que no quería salir del hotel después de un largo día de trabajo. Fue llevado a una mesa y ordenó comida. Quería pedir una salsa para acompañar las papas fritas que había ordenado, y nuevamente me senté por 10 minutos antes de que alguien reconociera que estaba esperando. Mientras esperaban, los 4 empleados estaban en la oficina conversando. Al terminar mi comida, nuevamente esperé 10 minutos para que alguien notara que había terminado. De nuevo siendo ingenuo, pensé que tal vez no se dieron cuenta de que había terminado y empujé ambos platos al otro lado de mi mesa. De nuevo, no hay respuesta. Lo más decepcionante fue que cuando fui reconocido, el joven camarero se acercó y sin decir una palabra, recogió mis platos y se fue sin preguntar si la comida estaba bien, preguntando si necesitaba algo más, pidiendo la factura, etc. . He sido camarera en el pasado y nunca me veo mejor que nadie. Siempre trata al personal con respeto pero me sentí muy insultado en el restaurante esta noche. No volveré a cenar allí y quejarse en la mañana.

Visited Charlie's Bistro for the first time. The food was very nice and decent prices. The only thing is staff were busy talking instead of serving customers.

I have one other review of this hotel and county establishment but I was in the bistro and the manager was in so without be crushing and cruel when the sugar hit the fan this manager collapsed under the pressure and blamed everyone but themselves Niall and Georgia as colleagues went through and survived so pleased so professional well done and just to prove a point to superior supervisors where way above this cheeky arrogant woman because the supervisors respected there colleagues and showed true leadership don’t me wrong I will always go there for the future but the manager needs to go a course respect for the individual and how to handle the pressure but overall everything was amazing apart from that manager who thought to much of herself

Ate in here 3 nights. Menu has a good number of choices with offers such as £19.50 for 2 courses. Food was good across the board, tasted fresh and not mass produced. Staff were absolutely excellent. Very friendly bar and table staff happy to chat and advise on menu selection. Good food for a hotel better than many others I have eaten in.

I visited the restaurant with friends for their Steak night January offer. This is very good value; a three course steak meal for two for £30. There is a choice to three starters, the steak and chips main course and a choice of three deserts. We booked in advance for a 6pm meal. The restaurant was pleasantly busy and was very welcoming with a large log fire and friendly staff. Service was very good and we were served promptly We were disappointed with the onion soup starter which was salty and not to our taste, however when we spoke to the waiting staff, it was quickly replaced one of the other starter options of our choice. The main course was excellent as was the desert and despite the problem with the starter, I would recommend this offer,

Food was good. We had a really nice table right next to the window and there were a few seats outside if it's a nice day. Typical kids menu. Service was ok - got our order wrong a few times and a little slow but we enjoyed the meal once it all came out.

Tried the curry, soup and vegetable terrine, all were good. Nice place to sit outside if the weather is good. They have a kids menu.

My daughter suggested we try Charlies Bistro at La Mon Hotel.We had never eaten there before. It was lovely sunny Sunday afternoon. Outside was busy with people having drink and soaking up the rays. It was quiet in Bistro and we had pick of seats. Our order was taken by waitress quickly, the menus are varied with taking 1/2/3 courses which was good. I had ordered 2 course main & dessert with my hubby opting for main course only. It came out very quickly with piping hot plates. Food was lovely. Waiter took our plates and I ordered desert of Eton Mess. It started to become very busy at the bar and I noticed that the waitress had gone behind the bar to help serve (the man with white shirt was very laid back) after 15mins I looked for young guy who had taken my order but could not see him so I went up to bar to ask. I eventually got to ask bout dessert and girl said she would check. It came out 5 mins later. It was delicious. I went to pay bill and girl apologised for long delay. I have nothing but praise for this young girl she single handedly served the bar. Apart from long delay with dessert we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Charlies Bistro!

I was in here a couple of weeks ago and had an absolutely wonderful lunch. The prices were reasonable, plenty of variety in the lunchtime menu and the staff were also great, very helpful and friendly.

I had an amazing lunch here last week. The food was lovely, the staff were all amazing and the atmosphere was great due to the roaring fire going too!! I'd highly recommend this place for lunch and dinner!

The food here used to be very good but we haven't been impressed the last few times. We did give it a break and then went back recently to give it another chance but were disappointed and wont be back. I had Turkey and ham - it was bland- a thin slice of tasteless turkey over a half slice of plastic tasting ham sandwiched in between was what tasted like Paxo stuffing. Served with a dollop of mash, a small roast potato ,2 small spears of broccoli and 1 baby carrot . It was barely warm as opposed to hot. If they cant get a roast dinner right there's not much hope for the rest of the menu. Staff seemed to have to make a great effort to serve us - shame really as we always enjoyed the atmosphere and the ease of parking at the hotel.

I booked the La Mon for afternoon tea for my parents 50th wedding anniversary as it came recommended however, I was greatly disappointed. The sandwiches were tasteless and the bread hard - smoked salmon and cream cheese, ham and egg - not particularly exciting. The...

We had a nice meal here, service was excellent and the cocktails were nice. The food was good, not great though. The beef was quite dry which was a shame. Definitely worth a look though.

I am rating this excellent as the food was perfect...Stayed at the La Mon where this hotel is based and the food as 10 out of 10. Got seated with a menu and ordered drinks but then alot of time past before getting to order...

A passing visit to enjoy some food after a busy day. The whole complex in simply class so we decided to try Charlie's bistro for a chicken supreme. So dissapointed with the dried out chicken we were served. It was 8pm and just resembled something...
