Charcoal Grill in Birmingham

Been ordering for awhile. Very disappointed today! First of all missing sheesh kebab with platter, secondly dry chicken and last the wings were bloody awful, literally burnt couldn’t even find a piece of chicken to chew, ate the lamb chop, and had to eat naan with fries and salad. Ordered bang on 12pm so would have thought it would be fresh but definitely wasn’t fresh! Definitely something wrong in the kitchen either new chef or you just don’t care. Won’t be ordering again!

Food is good, I’ve been several times and find that sometimes they don’t charcoal the chicken they just cook it on the grill. Also you have to eat this fresh, if you cannot finish it and try to eat the next day, it’ll become dry and hard to eat. Service is pretty speedy, they are abit tight on the sauces, I last ordered a 2 person platter, they only gave a single sauce of each type, you have to ask for more to accommodate 2 people.

Disappointing when they send a over cooked tough naan bread that is visibly burned and very tough to the touch!

Asked for grilled chicken not burnt.....over cooked to the point of been burnt. Hardly anything came of it as it was way over cooked partly burnt. Not very happy as last time it was cooked perfect. No 👎

4* becuz when its fresh its 10/10 when it isnt avoid it other then that highly recommend for those seeking an old school charga cant go wrong with a mini platter

Food arrived with drinks we paid for completely missing from order and no apology or explanation why from the place. Had to submit a refund and go through the hassle of re-ordering from a different place & waiting again for that to arrive. Just so we could have drinks with our meal - which somewhat spoiled the day. I don’t recommend & we won’t be ordering from here again.

The food is actually nice and chicken is grilled freshly in front of you. The portions of fries however are small and should have more provided. No drinks, even when ordering a meal and when I asked, the guy sounded like he was doing me a favour by giving me my food. Parking outside and room to eat inside but very few do. They take card payments which is good to know.

The food was extremely tasty. We ordered the full chicken meal and found it very fresh and succulent. The service was good too. We will definitely visit again and will highly recommend it to others.

Chicken was overcooked/dry. Seemed old. Missing 1x naan, no salad, no sauces. Not to standard, sorry.

A long running place. They used to have a branch by Reginald road in mid 2000s. Always went for the full chicken meal (shown below is the leg and fries, naan is in foil). I feel the recipe has changed since the 2000s and not for the better unfortunately. Chicken is average, fries are surprisingly good, naan is a bit dry. One of those places you have neutral feelings about. Nothing to complain about but also nothing to rave about. No harm trying it if you find yourself nearby.

Absolutely horrible food I am never coming back after my last experience. The old charcoal chicken was must better. Such a shame they closed down.

The food didn’t taste fresh. It was ready in less than 5 minutes, probably just been reheated. The toilets were disgusting so I would advise not to use them. The place was empty, no other customers. I won’t be returning here.

I was blatantly overcharged by one of the staff members. Even tough the food was ok (no complaints), I won't be returning again due to this reason.

This shop is a part of Pelham roundabout history since mid 2000s, almost everyone local and in the surrounding areas has been to this place and had its grilled food, the food here is excellent ma sha Allah, one of the healthiest places you can eat from in and around that area, the brothers working at the shop are very down to earth hardworking people, you also have the option to pay by cash or card. Would definitely recommend to everyone I know, I’ve been eating from this grill house since it was actually called charcoal chicken! And almost everyone still remembers it as that.

Good grilled type food such as lamb chops, full chickens, jerk, kebabs etc. Nice and flavourful, mini platter is a good choice as you get abit of everything & is at a decent price in this day and age @ £12, staff are friendly and the wait isn’t long at all

Manager got no manner. I fell through seat he shouted you got no eyes. Food is very bad aswell my chicken was rotten AVOID THIS PLACE VERY BAD FOOD. Reheated stale food there is plenty of option around the area guys Google it. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Newly opened, succeeding the Original Charcoal Chicken. I've ordered the Cod Fish Tikka, Cod Masala Fish and Chicken Jerk as a meal with Naan and Chips with a drink. The best meal is their Cod Masala Fish. The newly refurbished place is spacious, super clean with new dining chairs and tables. It now has a restaurant feel with countless families and groups dining inside the establishment. The customer service is excellent and they provide table service. The kitchen has been revamped with new machinery and much more staff. It's always busy with takeout orders as their packaging is robust, wrapped in foil, encased in cardboard and all meals are provided with a freshly prepared side salad. It has rest room facilities and card payments are accepted.

Take out without any cuttlery no tissues given. Food was small portion for the price paid and could have more flavours.

Charcoal chicken had a nice flavour with decent spices. The size however was very small, looked like a baby chicken. Was it worth the £8…. No. The Seekh kebab were chicken instead of lamb and the flavour was ok however they were pretty dry. Overall I would say place is serviceable so may try again. Some reviews mention similar places down the road so will give them a try and compare.

The food was delicious but it was terrible service as they delayed my collection time despite the app telling me to collect my order! I was not happy at all and they didn’t do anything to make up for it, we had guests waiting on us and this was an absolute shambles!!

A great place for locals like me. Delicious food which even the whole family love. Quality service whenever I go in and a lovely place to eat in too. Grilled chicken is absolute fire 👌🏻. Quickly turned into a regular too. Brilliant place 👍🏻

i went to this place people say very professional and food great .. let me tell you they are like jakel and hyde my chop i order arrived burnt and they tell me they are fine .. knowing that i’ve run takeaway for over 25 years and never have i had a customer walk out on me …. the owner thinks he knows well i’ll be involving the trading standards and the immigration… in cooked chops and he tells me they are fine .. what a tawt and he tried to physically assault me thanks to some random guy i was saved otherwise all there staff come out the store to attack me which can be seen on cctv at

Nice seating, food like maroosh/rock grill down the road..tastes the same. Has it down as a meal but cheeky uncle goes £1 more expensive because a drink does not come with the meal 🤣. But the people they let in.. dealers and junkies and their "ladies" i swear almost made me vomit. Not the best but not the worst. Better for a takeaway or phone delivery.

Delicious food... I wud say above average, We ordered Jerk chicken it was OK... meat portion was bit smaller... wings were ok... tried cod fish tikka... that was OK.... food was delivered quickly... staff was helpful... deducted 1 star for value for money...

Jerk chicken is good but the portions are very small , you defo wont be full after the munch , very stingy shop, you can probably count the number of fries they give you

Food is below average, price is high. I bought platter for 2, it had one full chicken 4 wings. Chichen and wings not cooked properly. It also came with small fries and 2 tiny pieces of lamb chop, it also comes with 2 drinks total £19.95. So instead of one can I took a bottle of oases, he charged me £21 something on top and never gave deducted price of the can I never took. The old charcoal shop was much better, but this one under new management by desi dera. If you do want to spend your hard earn cash go to Kohinoor opposite the Capital Mosque a min away from this nasty Charcoal shop. Large mix grill cost £18 you would not regret it plenty of food for 3 or more people Quality is Mashallah 10/10.
