3 Courses for £10 on a Sunday, wow what an incredible offer, recommend booking, very busy, wide range of starters, mains and desserts, supplements for lamb shanks and upgrades on steaks. Josie the Manager and her team looked after everyone superbly, the chefs food is amazing. Starters, we had tomato and roasted red pepper soup with basil and cream, chicken liver parfait infused with smoked bacon on a rosemary crouton, dehydrated Parma ham, truffle and plum chutney. The main course we both had Rosemary and thyme infused beef slow roasted for 24 hours, Yorkshire pudding, creamed mash, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbage green Beans and gravy. Desserts sticky toffee pudding and custard, honeycomb cheesecake, meringue, salted caramel sauce. Went on Saturday evening, there was three of us and all our meals were delicious. We had the char burger, which is one of the best burgers I,ve had and the sirloin steak which was cooked perfect. The triple cooked chips are amazing too. The young girl that served us was lovely too. I will definitely be going back and recommend.

One of the best restaurants we have been to in along time. We have been before about 2years ago, and it was very good, that's why we came back after we heard it was back open. But this time really was the bees knees. All 3 courses were beautiful. There were 3 of us and we all had steak 😋 all done in different ways. And everyone was beautiful. Well done to the chef and to the young girl serving 👏 we will definitely be back.

Food was really nice, was greeted with Prosecco on arrival for bottomless brunch, cocktails where really nice but not a wide variety, was pretty busy for just 1 waitress, would 100% come back if amaretto sours made an appearance x

Absolutely shocking, booked in for a Father’s Day meal only to turn up and be told we never confirmed our table even though we booked via the booking site and was sent an email confirmation, one particular member of staff who we were greeted by was quite rude and had no customer service skills, should definitely not work in a place like this 👍🏻

Had the steak sharing platter, sirloin, ribeye and rump. Comes with 2 sauces of your choice and 2 portions of chips or fries. We had starter's and desserts....... a bargain £55. This is on their menu special Weds and Thursdays. We had sides of mushrooms and onion. The meal was divine. Steak cooked to perfection. Service was brilliant,nice and friendly. 2 negatives. 1, the serving plates which are brought out were cold. 2. Parking is a nightmare 😫 I would definitely recommend it, and I will definitely be returning. I'm going to try the TBone next time. You will need to book, small and cosy place. 😊

Our go to Steakhouse and it should be yours as well! The food gets better and better every time we go. We had the sharing steak and it was absolutely amazing. I forgot I added a note to my booking about my wife’s birthday, but out they came with a candle in her dessert, which was a lovely touch. We’ll definitely be back time and time again. Staff are also amazing, nothing is ever too much, if you have any questions they go above and beyond with everything.

Well I wasn't a fan of this place about 6 months ago, but we returned to try it again and to say the least the steak is amazing. That good we came 2 nights in a row. The food has changed a lot and this is now one of our local favourites for a steak night. Highly recommended.

I visited this restaurant earlier last night with my family and am highly dissatisfied with this place. The chicken gave us food poisoning and we all felt sick for days. I am extremely disappointed

Beautiful food, a great selection on the menu, nice atmosphere, good value for money, great staff and we would definitely visit here again. The only negative things to say would be that the draft lager was warm and quite flat and the skin on fries were too salty.

Nice steak but massively overpriced at £27 and an extra £3 for a thimble full of cheese sauce, 8* chips and a few tomatoes on the vine. **Other local establishments offer more on your plate than 8 chips and 6 vine tomatoes. I found it disappointing.

Average. It's just plain average. 18oz t bone steak, £28. An honest and frank review. The staff were all very friendly. The place is a strange shape. Horse shoe like. It's dated and tired with plastic flowers randomly placed everywhere. They need cleaning.. the whole place does. It seems like blokes have been told to dress the place and not done a very good job. It needs a deep clean by a professional, and it needs a womans decorative touch. The coffee machine needs to have a good clean and the bar area. Let's not mention the toilet. For god's sake, mop the floor, clean the toilet bowl, and get some bleach down! It's these things that put you off. If everywhere else is dirty, god only knows what the kitchen is like. The food is ok, my steak was perfect and my wife liked her lemon chicken. Its just the cleanliness that lets it down. Misty glasses, dirty fridge doors, empty juice bottles just left out after mixing cocktails, dirty expreso nozzles, filthy toilet.. all adds up. What is the army camouflage wall about?

The staff were brilliant, very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food itself was sooo good and definitely well worth it, we had the Sunday menu with 3 courses each, definitely value for money and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. Our compliments to the chef and our thanks to the staff. Brilliant and it made my birthday treat that much more enjoyable.

Lovely little place, we went for afternoon bottomless brunch, cocktails were lovely, food was OK, nothing special and very small portions. Staff were great though and we got given a 2 for 1 drinks voucher to use in their bar a few doors down.

Great joint! I'd be back if I was closer, but this was just a one-off passing by trip. 1st of all the waiting staff are top notch. Didn't interfere with my dining at all but right there when you wanted them. Wednesday Steak night menu, 3 course (£24) was to die for. Starters Pork Belly, which was very scrummy in its sauce & chillies. The Sirloin Steak was cooked to perfection, with chunky potato wedge fries & grilled tomatoes on the vine. Creme brulee to top it all off. I haven't had a steak cooked to perfection like that for quite some time. Hat's off to the chef.

Had a fantastic meal.. I had tempura prawns then fillet steak chips skin on … … the steak was brilliant and the chips were gorgeous.… husband had risotto starter then fillet steak also. The staff were friendly and cannot fault anything. Will definitely go back.

First time here. Its very small and drafty I found. The staff were nice. I can't remember if music was playing.... If it was then it wasn't loud enough. The food was really nice! But really expensive which made it hard to stomach. As we was going we were getting ready to go, we noticed the chef seated making up cigarettes which ruined the whole experience. As I work full time I can't go on the cheaper days.. So unfortunately won't be returning again. Just too expensive

Waited nearly an hour for meals not busy Food was warm not hot got our steak orders mixed up was really loud playing background music so everyone had to shout over it plus anoying man sat on his own with his mobile blaring his own music out Plus one of the bar/ waitress had waist lengj hair and it kept swinging in the glasses work tops etc very un hygienic was so disapointed wont be returning

In a picture food looks gd but first time going and will be last food was bland asked for steak medium done didn't get it medium friend asked for well done still had pink in hers the crunchie cheese cake was more like a mouse. Skirting boards where shocking they where filthy . Was uncomfortable warm in there

I love this place. Amazing food. Amazing service. Lovely atmosphere. The only reason they don't get a 5 star is due to skirtins in restaurant, bar and toilet. They need a really good clean. But apart from that no complaints. Thanks for a great service x

Half price Wednesday was an amazing meal for a real bargain price.

Food was delicious, cocktails were beautiful and the service was spot on. Even though it became rather busy the 2 ladies always noticed when drinks were empty and timing between meals was perfect. Definitely got yourself new regulars.

Usually love it here its one of my fav places however this time wasnt great . We were the first to arrive and it was really cold , i sat with my coat on the whole time . The food was not great from the Festive menu and i really wish now i had ordered a burger. The turkey sandwich was really dry . No butter on the bread and the bread was cold , i expected it to be warm . There was no stuffing on ours, the gravy helped it go down but it was too dry to finish .chips also cold and arrived in a big bowl , usually in a metalbucket that keeps them warm. This place is in desperate need of a make over. Even a lick of paint would help. The staff are lovely though and very attentive.

I was treated exceptionally well at char. I have a mouth condition that cannot tolerate spices even pepper. After a mix up with a new member of staff, my meal was replaced and even further it was discounted too. Lovely place, lovely staff.

Went there last night with my family for my wife's birthday, excellent service and staff, nothing to much trouble. The food was amazing and the fillet steaks all perfect, would definitely go again.

On first impressions when we entered, we thought it didn't look like a nice restaurant, very small and in need of a refurb. However when our food came we were shocked at how abselutely perfect the steak was cooked! Perfection! I it was beautiful and we will deffinatly go again

One of my favourite places to eat. The food is excellent, the cocktails are amazing, the music and atmosphere is always spot on and the staff/owners, well, where do I start? They are one of the highlights, friendly, professional, efficient, welcoming, just lovely lovely people. I can't recommend the place enough. It's fantastic and they also have some amazing deals too, half price steak Wednesday & Thursday, bottomless brunches, great specials, chefs who really know how to cook and combine flavours. It's a great place, it's not a huge restaurant, it's intimate, cosy and filled with nice people.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Brilliant steak cooked perfectly,so many places struggle with what medium rare means and either burn it or have it to red,Char did it to perfection last night. Wait staff were spot on and made sure we had drinks but let you just get on and eat without always coming over. First time there but definitely not the last.

We have been coming here for years when it was the Italian Job. However we have to say the standards have dropped in our opinion. The menu is very select and children's menu isn't suitable, with no real choice for a child. The increased prices of the steak shocked us, as its still the same size and the accompaniments that come with the steak are poor/none existent. The salad wasn't a salad, its just rocket. £24 for a fillet steak.... The staff were not to welcoming and rushed us to move once we had finished. I am upset to say we will not be coming back. We love supporting local and we tend to only dine in local places, but we feel the Char isn't to the same quality of the former restaurant it once was. Disappointed and let down

Been here a few times and never fails to impress. Great service throughout with good menu options supplemented by their specials board. Have a good selection of cocktails also. The mid week half price steak and weekend bottomless specials are next on list to try also.

Just had the Valentines take out burger and small plates meal deal from here! Wow! Really well cooked, great packaging. Looked and tasted great. Fantastic price too. Must be difficult going from dine in to takeaway but these guys have smashed it!

Only been since changed to takeaway during lock down, but is now a weekly event!

Quick response to order request in night. Able to collect at chosen time. All Food chosen available and exceeded expectations. Had a fabulous “restaurant meal” indoors, with a delish red wine! Thank you Char!

What is not to love, it's a steak house!! In all seriousness, I love coming here. It's small but perfectly formed! The menu just changed when we went this time, still all fabulous choices. Lots of options, not just steak but I had a fabulously cooked t-bone steak never disappointed! Will be back very soon!

Char is a small, friendly restaurant, that serves excellent food. We've visited on a few occasions before and after lockdown, and it's always been a pleasant experience. The food is good, the service is excellent, and the staff are always smiling. On the last visit, the disposable menus and other precautions were explained as we sat down, and we had complete confidence about the meal. During the lockdown, Char operated as a takeaway with a limited menu, and this was all well done. Specific 10 minute pickup times were I in operation, food was cooked and bagged to order, and collecting was contact free with plenty of sanitiser on hand.

The starters were lovely but none of us enjoyed our mains unfortunately. None of the steaks were cooked how we asked and we had to send 3 meals back.
