Chapter One in Bromley

I put off coming to this restaurant for years, for some reason it's location, looking over a busy 3 way intersection seemed off putting...well, what a shame I had! We went for a meal for my wife's birthday, we sat dining room side and was served by Pablo who was attentive but not over bearing. Delicious cocktails and superb food, little disappointed with the wine but definitely not a deal breaker. The brasserie side of the restaurant looks more relaxed and cosy, and the menu caters as such. Very reasonably priced for a fine dining experience, will definitely be back again!

Fabulous Sunday roast sirloin lunch. Gorgeous beef, Yorkshire, roasties, green beans and delicious red cabbage. Could have been hotter, but I like my food steaming hot.

Couldn’t decide between the Monkfish or the Venison as a main but decided to have the Monkfish as a starter, followed by the Venison and both dishes were stunning. Been here many times and quite simply, you are greeted as a friend. Went lunchtime on Valentines Day and Emeric, Marcel and Ian were on top form in their welcome. Service from Omut was sublime. Love this place to bits

This is one of our favourite locations. The food and service are excellent. However, on Thursday 13th, roadworks outside of the restaurant spoilt our day. I think the those who have booked should receive a text message about this issue.

Outstanding traditional restaurant with great food and service. Wine list is world class with some wines from the greatest wineries in the world e.g. Gaja and good basic wines. Spacious. British food at its best.

As always the good and service was superb. One criticism was charging £3 for extra gravy. Made it the talking point and not the amazing meal. Just add a bit more to the meal, it’s good value. Come on chapter 1

Disappointed to say the least! Very rich, over priced, extra for veg. I was really looking forward to visiting Chapter One, but unfortunately I will not be back.....

Everything from being met and escorted to our table was excellent. Including having a suitable table for my disabled, wheelchair-bound wife. Service was excellent from Chris, our assigned waiter. Choice from the Sunday Lunch Menu was varied and was easy to choose from. Oysters to start were delicious with Thai dressing. My wife’s roasted skate was delicious. Wines by the glass were suitably chosen and moderately priced. All in all, a great and suitably enjoyable experience for my wife!s birthday!

Living in this area 10+ years, always wants to come here to try, but I know is a expensive restaurant. This time have chance to try it.. Food is good. Service is good. I have a lunch about £47 per head including 3 meals courses, order 2 bottles of glass waters share with 4 ppl. Overall experience is ok. Worth to try.

The food was fantastic, the service was wonderful. The tables are far enough apart so you don’t bump chairs. The staff are helpful and polite as expected. Lots of parking. Our waiter Pablo was so professional and helpful.

We sat on the terrace which was lovely and warm, I had venison Malfade which was delicious and my friend had sea bream. Both dishes were delicious.

We have visited chapter one for many years The service was excellent but unfortunately the food not at all the usual standard and extremely tiny minute portions than normal with no flavour- very disappointed

From start to finish it was a polished, professional and delicious experience and does make you wonder why you’d ever bother going into London to find fine dining again when it’s right on your doorstep. Was welcomed into the bar first where the cocktails were wonderful (and potent!) then tried the vegetarian gnocchi with sides. Although the portions look small, the food is rich and filling, and a delight to the tastebuds. Another big win for me is food served on hot plates as I eat very slowly and hate cold food. Why doesn’t every restaurant do this? Perfect service and will definitely be back.

Such a treat to have dinner at Chapter One. We were there just after Christmas and it all felt very welcoming and festive. We had a great table for seven, on the terrace. The food is exceptional. The beetroot and goats cheese salad with orange was fresh and zingy, Korean chicken bites sticky and spicy. I had venison pasta for my main course which was beautifully rich, a perfect Winter choice. Two in our party had the ribeye steak. They said it was one of the best steaks they’d tasted. Great wine and excellent desserts (crème brûlée and sticky toffee pudding) to finish. The service is knowledgeable and friendly. We have a good experience every time we eat at Chapter One, would highly recommend.

We have been coming to Chapter One since it first opened several times during the year, which speaks volumes of our love for this restaurant. The introduction of a Brasserie was a wonderful idea as is their grill. Tge staff are so well trained, they live their work snd there are sufficient members of the various teams to ensure that the service is and always has been, first class.

We received prompt and friendly service without fuss. All 3 courses of our a la carte menu choice ( as there were 2 of us, this means 6 dishes tried ) were excellent ( eg. halibut, beef tartare, pork cheek. tandoori monkfish , baked coffee tart ). We expected a high quality of food and service and we were not disappointed. Our white wine was served appropriately chilled. The restaurant was busy in this lead up to Christmas and yet our server took time to explain the menu and courses were delivered in a timely fashion. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable eating experience.

Incredible place Spot on food service and vibe from start to finish Christmas dinner insanely good - melt in the mouth turkey - exquisite trimmings They loved the snails, tartare and the hake I think you should patent the Christmas pudding - we all agreed it was the BEST we have ever tasted. Nice intermit dinning experience . First time dinning In Brasserie and found it Great . Normally have been in Main dinning room for last fifteen years when visiting Restraunt but was already booked up and Brasserie only available would definitely eat there again . One of my favourite restaurants for special occasions . Staff are always helpful and polite topping up wine etc discreetly without interrupting. The food is always very good with a good choice including a vegetarian option and fish along with an excellent wine list. The noise level is low, even with larger parties, so a party of two can chat quietly. Seating is comfortably spaced so there is a nice distance between tables.

It was our first visit and hopefully not the last. I would certainly like to try more items on the menu and different menus as well. The food was really delicious and well presented. The texture, taste and time taken for food being served was just perfect. The service was courteous and welcoming. Looking forward to our next visit.

Food was superb- as were the cocktails. Only disappointment was that they had received no steak order but that was a tiny issue. Would come again in a heartbeat.

Not been for couple of years but still impeccable in service terms and attention! Food was lovely - had tacos & chicken👍 Sorbet after as dairy intolerant - would have been nice to have presented a little better in a glass coupe with a crispy Tuille - Rather than plain white bowl! Was a reunion for a group of old friends but quite noisey to talk even having asked for a quiet table!

Food was delicious.Our waiter Pablo was efficient and charming. Had to send my soup back as not hot enough even though I’d asked for it to be hot! Quite expensive but worth it for a treat. Should offer Prosecco not just champagne.

Dining in the terrace. Very comfortable and warm. Service was attentive and pleasant. The wine list is comprehensive. The food was excellent- beautifully presented and well executed! Would definitely recommend a visit.

Amazing food. I had the Veloute of Jerusalem artichoke with a poach hen's egg and I was in heaven, mellow artichoke taste, not too over powering and the mix with the egg was perfect. The main coarse was the fillet steak and is the best fillet steak I have ever eaten. I guess the only gripe is that on some of the main coarses you will have to order extra sides so the cost increases. I had French beans with my steak and they were lovely but the potatoes were dry and some of the food was not piping hot, it came out to us warm but I would still highly recommend it to everyone. Oh yes, the service from everyone was absolutely first class and there is only a 7.5% service charge whereas other places I have been to charge 12 or 12.5%.

Not been for a while, and booked the brasserie. The staff from the moment I walked in, I could not fault - they were friendly and efficient. Starters, there was a good choice, well presented & tasty. Mains - ribeye, was well cooked. My wife had the sea bass, which was ok, but a little underwhelming. Desserts - sticky toffee pudding lived up to its name ! Again the lady waitress was excellent, friendly, chatty, and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.

Just love Chapter One. It is my go to for special occasions. There have been some changes since my last visit and the menu was just great. A wonderful lobster ravioli ( £5 supplement) starter, and then venison. Gorgeous. My husbands' main course was partridge. Again wonderful. Just nice to have some different choices. Our waiter was a gem. It makes such a difference.

Service was not up to the normal high standard. No chocolates at the end of the meal and not as attentive. Back next Sunday, hopefully back to normal standard

A beautifully appointed restaurant and overall fine dining experience. On arrival we were warmly greeted by our hosts and escorted to our table by numerous friendly and courteous staff. Service was swift, polished professional. Our waitress was a lovely lady, very patient in answering our questions and engaging in conversation about the restaurant. Starter was a lobster raviolo and was really delicious, the delicate crepe pastry went really well with the lightness of the lobster filling. Main course was venison, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection although I think the portion size should have been just a bit larger. Dessert was a lovely warm apple tart tatin, rich with cinnamon and well balanced between the sweet and the tartness. The only issue is a minor one and is largely not the fault of the restaurant. There was a party of approximately seven people in the middle of the room who started loud and made more and more noise as the night wore on until my friend and I literally couldn't hear our own conversation. The staff totally failed to address this problem so I had to take it upon myself to quieten them down in my own inimicable style. It was frustrating that a Michelin star fine dining experience was marred by the failure of the staff to deal with people who had all the grace of a hen night in Blackpool. I'm not overreacting or being a snob about this. I have no problem with people having fun and being a bit boisterous but this was just ridiculous. Other than that minor blemish I think this is a really good restaurant and well worth a visit.

The food and service were both fabulous, but I found the large room with several tables challenging as I found the chatter so loud at times that I missed some of my parties conversation.

Lovely meal but our oysters had too much chilli. Very expensive but worth it for a special occasion. The desserts are very disappointing.

Always excellent service and the menu is fantastic. Love this restaurant one of my favourites.

My husband and I have dined at Chapter One on several occasions over the the past 9 years. Each time has been very special and the food delicious. Yesterday was not one of those experiences unfortunately. I can’t tell you why specifically but our food was just lacking something special. The shared apple tarte tatin wasn’t particularly good and usually the dessert part of the meal is spectacular. Maybe we just chose wrong but i did feel underwhelmed last night

Really lovely top quality food. Interesting choices, beautifully presented. I would definitely come here again. It would be helpful to have prices per course displayed on the website, but the waiter assured us we could choose to have one, two or three courses. Impressive service too and attractive decor / good ambiance.

We have been multiple times over the years and even had our wedding breakfast here. It is still our benchmark restaurant we compare all other too for quality ( vs value) It's still the top. Staff are great and the food is always excellent. Appreciate the space around tables and attentive service.

After a lull, the establishment has really turned around to give the diners an enjoyable & satisfying experience.
