Chapter 12 Wine Bar in Wealden

Three of us had the lunch h time offer at £18 each. One bottle of water I lemonade and I e put it beer was charged £86 . Think I was charged individually not charged for the offer. Make sure you check your bill.

We visited B12 this evening, the ambience of the environment was superb , with a great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful, however the food was disappointing. after a long wait after our starters we had to enquire if our food was ready , I don’t know if we had been forgotten but it came out a couple of minutes later. The portions were on the small side and the mains were completely over cooked! I ordered Hake with vegetables and the carrots were completely black and the parsnips rock solid. My partner had chicken which was so dry. We won’t be returning for food which is a real shame as we were really looking forward to our meal.

We had a lovely evening at B12. We both ordered Chicken Ballotine, and we're very impressed with how tasty it was. Staff were great, very professional and friendly. The evening was topped off with some really nice singing from Debbie Perolls. Will definitely look to go again

Great service and food was lovely. Cocktails were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. It was fairly busy even for midweek and this created a good atmosphere.

Fantastic venu, characterful byilding with friendly, attentative staff. Love thst they use Poppyseed bakers ... delicioys bread. Vegetarian gnocchi dish was out of this world. Great surprise for my partner as we had booked a table for drinks too as his friends joined us afterwards. Very well organised. Will be back. Thank you team!

Fantastic venue for girls night out, or for couples - whether it’s for a catch up or for dinner! Great range of food and drinks available, including mocktails. Gluten free options are widely available. Vegan and vegetarian options on the menu and a good choice. Waitress was thorough and checked something that wasn’t marked gluten free, checked with the chef to see if it could be altered to exclude gluten- and it was a yes! No mention on the menu for dairy or soya free options, but the waitress was approachable so if we had our dairy and soya free friends with us, I feel we could have asked. Good value for money and we left with full tummies! Recommend the red mullet and chowder!

We visited B12 for our grandsons birthday as he lives in Hailsham. The place was extremely busy and it looked like the staff were on the go constantly. We ordered our starters a mains and started having a chat between us. A full half hour later, we were told they didn't have one of the starters. Which was fine but to decide a full half an hour later it was not on the menu that night was a tad much. Surely, as soon as the order hit the kitchen, staff should have been informed and a replacement sought. Anyway, an hour later, we were starting to feel hungry and I think staff noticed and were sent over to get another drinks order from us. Another full 1/2 an hour later, the food started to appear. The starters were lovely and enjoyed by all. The mains appeared a short while later but right away I noticed the burger I had ordered, looked like it could have been used to shoe a donkey. To hammer the nails in. It was so hard, it crunched when I bit into it. No way was I eating that. So it was sent back. I was asked if I would like something else but as it had already been an hour and a shelf since we ordered, I decided not to bother. By this time, everyone at the table was so hungry they just tucked in and got on with it. It was only after the mains were nearly finished that we discovered that two or three people's side orders were completely missing. The staff only asked if everything was OK during the used plate collection. When it was far too late to do anything about any issues we may have had. They were informed of the issues and apologised for all the mistakes. No offer of compensation was received. We were extremely disappointed with the food and the service. Needless to say, we have decided not to go back to B12.

Decided to visit for an early dinner last week. Welcoming, friendly, staff and nice atmosphere. It was already quite busy. We shared some nibbles (cauliflower was lovely) before having the beef stew and a chicken burger - both really tasty and decent sized portions. The house white is very drinkable. Hope to return soon.

Wanted to have special meal at lunchtime as a treat as going to be away for xmas period; both in our 80's and have lived in Hailsham close on 20 years. It was a 3 course meal advertised as "Festive Menu" which one had to order in advance. 1st course was wild mushroom & chestnut soup; which was served to us tepid. Was sent back and was piping hot-as should be always .Mine was now only 2/3rds of a bowl for whatever reason. Main course was traditional turkey with all the normal trimmings BUT chuckled when saw the sprouts had been cut up into EIGHT pieces and they were small versions in any case. Total of just 2 sprouts on plate. Turkey was dry/tough and in our mind overcooked. The whole meal was again tepid (very dangerous with poultry) Staff totally rushed off their feet and we were never asked how the meal was. Puddings were OK. Got up and paid up. Was not even asked by cashier if we had enjoyed the meal-unreal!! Place was heaving and clearly overwhelmed-BUT no excuse for tepid food anywhere.

We were a group of four…. We had a lovely evening from start to finish. The staff were all very nice and helpful, and the food was delicious. Our second visit now, and will definitely return in the future.

The staff were amazing and the food was very good maybe slightly small portions and more veg is the only reason for 4/5 other than that would recommend and will return. This was due to atmosphere and the staff being very attentive

staff friendly, cocktails and food always very enjoyable. Live music last Friday by Moss was brilliant.

If I could rate this place higher I would, we went for burger night on Thursday evening, service was quick, efficient and nothing was too much to ask for, we were served by Luke and Blossom who were so wonderful, and gave fantastic service. We both went for the “quackin good” burger and they were perfect, perfectly cooked and tasted amazing, we will be coming back with more friends in the very near future, thank you for such a wonderful evening!

Great menu of food and drinks… sadly pan puri is off the menu :( Lovely cauliflower, churro’s and salad (goats cheese with halloumi) Pork ribs were dry and overcooked in our opinion. Fabulous cocktail & peanut dessert.

This place is amazing. Food choice is excellent (if your are vegan ask for the separate menu, it has an abundance of choice), drink choice is great, setting and staff are lovely.We had our anniversary meal here this week and it was just perfect, even in these strange Covid times. (On that note it is also absolutely spotless)

Went for lunch here with a couple of friends a few weeks ago.The lunch menu had a lot of dinner menu choices by that I mean large meals.not everyone wants a big meal at lunch time, Light lunch is what we all wanted No panini's or sandwiches of any sort, no jacket potatoes , no salads ,no small pasta dishes , no pizza no deli plates to share.If you want a full meal at lunch time this is properly for you.

I had lunch with my daughter before lockdown. I chose the duck and beetroot risotto - perfectly cooked, my daughter had the cauliflower cutlet and enjoyed it too. We were so well looked after and checked up upon often, nothing was too much trouble. I can’t wait to go back once lockdown is over.

I booked a table for Saturday lunchtime which was supposed to be a birthday treat. Firstly I was asked for my card details when I booked the table which I wasn’t really happy about but hey ho! We were taken to A table upstairs where there were about 30 young women who were clearly having some sort of celebration. Not sure what Covid regs they are working under ??? It would have been sensible to sit us elsewhere where it was quieter because there were only 2 of us and clearly we would be wanting to chat. We couldn’t hear ourselves think. We ordered our drinks, a coffee and a large bottle of sparkling water and chose our meal. We ordered some nibbles. Well the nibbles arrived about 15 minutes later but no drinks. Which were being made apparently. We are our nibbles and still no drinks. Eventually the drinks came and they said that they hadn’t seen the order in the bar. My leg bottle of water was 2 small bottles because they had run out! It took ages for my meal to arrive and when it did (duck and risotto). It was luke warm at the most and the.duck which was med rare was barely even pink. My friends meal was pretty disappointing too. I sent my food back which they clearly stuck in the microwave. I refused to eat it as you do not reheat rice and the duck was soggy and overdone. I have given one star as my complaints were dealt with by the staff who were very apologetic and they only charged for the drinks. I won’t ever go back. I was so disappointed ☹️

It was a Monday night so we expected it to be quiet but were pleasantly surprised to find the place was buzzing, mostly at the front - the bar area. The Covis19 arrangements were excellent and reasonably unobtrusive when we were shown to our table by a pleasant and efficient staff member. There were three of us and we all had different main dishes but shared very good breads, olives hummous etc. It would have been better if we had been given small plates. All the main courses brought satisfying smiles from us all. The music was not to our taste and had an intrusive booming but the staff very kindly turned it off for us and we heard each other well after that - until a group of young ladies arrived at the front. One young lady, half dressed! had a hellish laugh that reverbated round the entire ground floor but I guess I can't blame the restaurant for her good mood. It actually amused us. It was a very pleasant meal with excellent service and we shall return again soon. It is one of our favourite restaurants in the wider Wealdon area. Keep it up.

We came on the last day of the eat out scheme as we were on holiday. We were served quickly and politeley . We had a lamb dish, the king prawns and the chicken supreme, all of which were lovely and very good quality food.My only fault was that the wine seemed very expensive at £28 for a bottle, tho there were afew cheaper options of around £20. I would return here again tho!

Took advantage of the last day of EOTHO and had a lovely evening there. With the COVID restrictions it does feel like more of a restaurant at the moment as the bar downstairs can only accommodate a few tables however it does have a lovely atmosphere. The menu is varied with a decent Vegan option on both the starters and mains, a more than extensive gin list and their own lager as well. The staff were all fantastic, really friendly, attentive, polite and couldn't do any more to help. The decor throughout is really nice, you've done a great job on it and the COVID precautions were reassuring as well. Really good all round, we'll definitely book again

Just had dinner there. The new decor is very nice. Spacious and socially well managed. Really lovely food served by courteous and professional staff. A decent wine list starting at £19.95 (which we drank and was very good).We'll be back soon and we will be recommending it to all of our friends.

This place is incredible! From the cocktails, the food, the service, the decor and vibe - I cannot fault a single thing. We had the best night. Cannot wait to come back!

Been camping locally had a lovely day out in the rain, wanted to eat out to help out. Had a really lovely tasty meal, staff were lovely, place was spotless.....

A few friends and I went out for the eat out to help out scheme. What a transformation this bar has undergone since new ownership!!! The drinks menu was extensive and the food delicious. Staff were extremely welcoming. Would recommend!!

Went to B12 on Wednesday night. Had an amazing meal. The place was buzzing. Clearly the ‘eat out to help out’ has been a huge success in encouraging and giving the confidence for people to go out again. The team have done an amazing job in the transformation on the place. It looks stunning. We had a super meal, the staff were so friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble. I could see that as the place was so full the staff were permanently on the go. The owner was walking around as much as he could chatting to guests. We felt so very welcomed in every aspect. The waiting staff explained that there would be a 20 minute wait for the main course as the kitchen was busy. That was fine with us and completely understood due to the place being so full. Thank you again for a wonderful evening B12. We will be back for sure

We had a fabulous time, right through from the warm welcoming to the after dinner cocktails. The service came with a smile and the food was so delicious, all 3 courses! I’d highly recommend B12, they have worked very hard to upgrade their restaurant based on the new covid regulations. The social distancing layout was really good and we all felt safe and had a great family night out!

I last reviewed shortly after the initial opening of B12 in September and feel another is deserved.B12 has been very well designed and gives a feeling of welcome from the moment you step through the door. Its offers a lounge seating area downstairs, great for meeting friends for cocktails, while upstairs offers relaxed, contemporary decor complete with the all new 'Marlow Room' gin bar for eating or drinking.The owner has done a good job ensuring social distancing measures are provided by with tables all a good distance apart and providing table service only. The staff from junior to management level are always helpful, smiley and friendly despite enormous pressures lately created by unprecedented numbers of diners enticed by 'eat out to help out'. The food; Nathan, the head chef is a huge asset to B12, he has a enormity of pride in everything he creates on the menu and I have never left disappointed. The Menu is varied and offers something for all.Keep up the great work all !

Ate here on Tuesday. They seemed busy and food took a while . We fully understand that this was due to current Covid 19 situation along with the government offer . I'd sooner the food and service took longer for a safe meal and it's delivery than not. And it was worth it ! Delicious!!!!! Keep up the good work. Will come back again. Compared to some more rushed establishments we have been to , this one was far better and staff polite .

If you are in the area give this hidden gem a visit. The food is spectacular and all the food allergies are catered for. The menu is varied, not cheap, but if you want quality it is worth a visit. The staff are great and work very hard to make sure you have everything you want. A lot of money has been spent on this establishment, it is vibrant and lively. Well attended and they have an impressive Gin Menu namely 104 to date which if you are a Gin connoisseur this place is for you a different one will be recommended for your pleasure. The owner is friendly to each of his guests and treats them all as friends.

My favourite bar & restaurant in Hailsham! Every time I visit B12 Bar & Kitchen whether it be for cocktails, dinner or business meetings, you can guarantee to be in for an excellent and enjoyable experience. Every member of staff is friendly & attentive making sure you are welcomed and looked after. The food is amazing, there really is no other establishment nearby that compares with regards to the high quality of food & drinks produced. In particular, the new renovated Gin Bar is amazing with over 100 different types of gin, you will be spoilt for choice! High recommended.

Visited B12 on Monday evening for a family birthday. What an amazing place. The decor is absolutely gorgeous, super trendy. Everything is spaced out beautifully. We were seen to a lounge area until our table was ready. We felt really safe and thought they had done really well with all the protective measures in place. We had a fabulous booth in the restaurant upstairs. The Gin bar is amazing & a sight to be seen. The staff were respectful, attentive and friendly. The food to die for. And to make things even better we got a great discount with the Government’s Eat out to Help out, although if I’m honest, I would have been happy to have paid full price as I thought the menu was reasonably priced. We will be back and highly recommend.

When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly smiley face,we were then taken to the newly designed Marlow Room, we felt very safe with the Covid practices,we were amazed by the decor and the changes they have done,they sat us in one of there booths which was comfortably and spacious and looking around we felt very safe with the measures they have put in place due to Covid staff didn't wear masks because they stood far enough away to take our order.We had Sirloin Steaks which were cooked perfectly all in all a perfect lunch thank you.Reading other peoples comments I have no issue on 10% service charge,I think it was worth it we left extra.Good Luck in these tough times and we will be back

So glad B12 has reopened the new gin bar upstairs looks amazing! We booked a booth for a girls catch up had amazing cocktails highly recommend the maverick martini. We didn’t have a full meal just tapas nibbles which were great, could not fault anything!

Arrived early on a “Rishi’s dishes” evening so was served promptly, others arriving later had a much longer wait. Had steak for two, wine included. Tasty. Ordered puds, which were ok. The bill then had tax and service charge added - why? I don’t know of any restaurant which adds on the tax to the bill, it should be included in menu price. And my bugbear is added service charge. I’ll decide what to tip. The bill was ok because of the Rishi discount but otherwise it wouldn’t have been worth it. Also, tables seemed a tad too close for social distancing.

The food was nice but not worth the wait !! We got in dead on time and it took 25 minutes for us to be seated and then our order wasn’t taken for another 20 minutes !! The food took over half an hour as well !! It is a lovely place but there are a few things I would do. I would make the waiters and waitresses wear masks and I would make them have some kind of uniform because I couldn’t tell who was staff and who were customers !! They have done a lovely renovation but I don’t think have got it quite right yet.

Firstly, the is gorgeous. Light, airy, modern, sophisticated and all round lovely.Staff were welcoming and food was great. It wasn’t overly busy but was definitely understaffed. We waited 25minutes for our first drink...30minutes for our second (so we ordered 2!). After dinner we then waited 35minutes to pay our bill... service needs to be up’ed for sure but food and drinks were great! ☺️

This is the first time I've ever written a review on Trip Advisor.I have not read any others ever.My review is;The B12 Bar is luxurious and welcoming.The staff are all very accommodating and make you feel like your important and they speak to you with grace, compassion or with a great sense of humour. They are highly skilled individuals in hospitality.The B12 Bar, Bucklers, the Delicatessen has accommodated my Father whom is disabled with his eating and dietary requirements and box up take ways and even make up a Friday night treat Cocktail for me to take home to a man whom is housebound. This service is almost impossible to find. The people are so friendly they go over and above their job remit, I found it a place of solace and santuary for a long time they spoke to me and served me, cared for me by sheer hospitality Proffessionalism.This bar is a stand out from the rest and the staff and Melvin are what makes that possible along with the exemplary food and cocktails.My experience of B12 and Bucklers and the Delicatessen is that they have provided me a beautiful place to seek solace, they greet you by name, they know your tipple and the day or night flows, they are giving a direct personal service to me and my housebound Dad as customers which I have never experienced anywhere in this area before.This place is full of warmth, care and a desire to be the best they can be for your drinking or dining experience.Thank you.

It was the first night out we tried the virus discount. The un-normal set up for the virus was well organised, the staff knew what they were doing and made it as 'normal' for us as possible. The starter fish cake was excellent and the Cauliflower was too, if a bit on the spicey side for me. The sirloin steak was tender and cooked the way I like it and the King Prawn Linguine was perfectly acceptable. The staff were attentive, efficient and smiley. I do empathise with owners and staff who have to endure the current restrictions but they managed it very well.

Popped in last minute with the family and the staff we more than accommodating with us having lunch and cocktails given they were 10 mins from stopping lunch. Food was brilliant and the cocktails were some of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend to visit

As parents to a toddler, our occasional night out need to be spent well, in a decent place. We are so lucky to have B12 on our doorstep.decor is clean, modern and stylish. As were the pre dinner cocktails. The steaks were cooked perfectly as we're the chips) important!) . Service was outstanding, our waitress was friendly and fantastic at her job, nothing was too much for her and she knew exactly what she was talking about. We had the house white wine ,which we thought was delicious and well priced, so often wine is so over priced and of rubbish quality in restaurants and bars, but this was refreshing and interesting. We left full of good food and wine and very happy. Well done to Melvin the owner. Youve been nothing but warm, welcoming and down to earth, from the moment we moved to Hailsham with a newborn a few years ago. The Bucklers family is such an assist to our town.

I have been here several times under the new ownership and whether it be for drinks, lunch or dinner, it excels expectation every time. It seems they have an experienced front of house team that even on the busiest nights are very attentive and good at ensuring your glass does not run dry!!Nathan in the kitchen ensures the menu always offers a good range of quality, locally sourced produce

The restaurant is impossible to get into if you are in a wheelchair. There have been a couple of changes of ownership in the last couple of years, each one has stated that they will be making changes to the disabled access but nothing has yet been attempted.

I'll reserve judgement on the restaurant, food, service and prices until they, finally, manage to get wheelchair access to the restaurant and have the toilets on the same floor. I appreciate with listed buildings and being three feet above the pavement there is an issue but there are options available.

This wine bar/restaurant has vastly improved under the new ownership. The decor is bright and fresh, creating a lovely ambience. To date since the re-opening we have enjoyed morning coffee, an excellent Sunday lunch and also some imaginative Sunday breakfast dishes. The staff are always very welcoming and extremely helpful. Hopefully we will be making many more visits during 2020 and wish the new owner every success in his new venture.

Visited with Eastbourne friends who said how much they wished Eastbourne had somewhere like this ! Great atmosphere.. really good service.. fabulous cocktails and yummy food . Only negative feedback is I would have liked more green vegetables with my venison? Good menu with plenty of choice .. fantastic night out .

We were looking for a light lunch and my husband had ordered a cheese & ham toasted sandwich, hoping for something akin to a croque monsieur with melted cheese. The sandwich certainly wasn’t what he had hoped for. It was toasted bread but the ham hadn’t been trimmed of fat and the cheese not properly melted. A small dressed side salad instead of a ramekin of fruit would have been more appropriate. We would have paid a little more than the £5 for a better dish. For me I ordered the catch of the day and the fish and particularly the sauce were tasty but the peas were hard. And I should have asked the price of the fish dish because £14 is too high.

We went on a Thursday night which at the moment is Steak Night. £40 sirloin steak for two with bottle of wine.Pleasantly surprised. Steak very tender, cooked to perfection(med) presentation good. Hot plates which not many places do. We also enjoyed a starter, dessert & coffee.

Thanks to a last minute cancellation we managed to get a table at b12. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble even though they were clearly very busy, and food delicious. Great decor and atmosphere, although the music may not be to everyone's taste. There are a lot of stairs, which my 88 year old Mum struggled with, but we'll make sure we book a table downstairs next time.

Went for drinks with friends at the weekend since it's changed from Chapter 12 to B12. We didn't eat there but I have in their sister restaurant and if it's anything like that, i'd imagine it's just as good. But not sure if this is a place just for drinks. We brought a couple of bottles of wine which were over £20 odd and a 3rd bottle for over £18 which we thought was expensive considering none of us thought the wines were up to much, although not terrible. Later a friend joined us just for a couple of glasses of white wine which she paid over £8.00 a glass. Which by the glass was very expensive. These prices I'd expect to pay in London not Hailsham. I think B12 need to rethink there drink prices if they want people to come in just for drinks or people will only come for special occasions rather than frequently. Which would be a shame. As it's a lovely cosy place and friendly staff. I will return but probably not for while. Until my wallet recovers.

Maybe I chose the wrong dish... oh wait there shouldn’t be a wrong dish! Three of us ate here, the venue was a welcome change, nicely furnished , bright & airy with a nice feel about it. It was a Friday night and I was surprised it wasn’t that busy.

My girlfriend and I recently went for dinner at b12, the food was lovely the staff were attentive and they have done a brilliant job in renovating the place. We would highly recommend.

Do book.......most important, do book, especially on a Saturday. This has changed for the better from Chapter 12 to B12, now they do food, bistro like but excellent. We both chose the catch of the day, yummy fish cakes, stem broccoli and saute potatoes, with a lovely sauce, so pleased we didnt have a starter, they were very tasty and filling.

It’s a most do Sunday roast the beef is out of this world the veg very well done roast potatoes what can I say not hard not soft perfect as for the gravy well the taste yummy ...... The staff are always around to help and to please .. But must book table .

No complaints about the quality or taste of the food BUT this is not really a restaurant venue. The restaurant feels like a 'side-line' as service is sporadic and the menu quite limited. As titled 'Wine bar' it is odd that there are no wines on the drinks list! What we did have was very good and very reasonably priced. They also have soem strnag takes on what are traditionally and recognised dishes ie French onion soup. Not caramalised, no crutons or topped with cheese AND no bread. What we had was VERY tasty and we had to pay extra for the bread. The atmosphere is aimed at the 25-35 year olds and quite noisy. Not a problem if you fit that demigraphic but not the place you would go for a quiet meal. It was very popular in the bar area and probably the busiest place in town but not quite what it says on the tin.

Decided to spend Friday evening in Hailsham and had some great tapas and drinks at Bucklers across the road and strolled over to Chapter 12 at 10:36 (yes, I checked the time!) to be told they had already called last orders at TEN THIRTY on a Friday night!

Visited for lunch on Saturday 9th March and it was very busy when we went in soon after noon. We were delighted that dogs are welcome so we could bring our beautiful big dog in with us.

Just walked past and liked the look of the place... so glad we went in! It was so welcoming, had an amazing singer on and the food was beyond excellent.. the sea bream, cockles and celeriac was to die for, even the garlic infused olives were absolutely delicious!

Arranged my wife’s 30th birthday here at chapter 12 and they couldn’t have been more accommodating with a delicious menu of food and excellent service throughout! Make sure you drop in and give it a go! Little gem in Hailsham!

Popped in for a quick lunch and it was delicious. Situated in the main street but very cosy and would like to return for drinks in the evening. Next time I am visiting I will do that.

Had Sea Bream with fennel. Incredible sauce and perfectly cooked. Service great and such a long way better than anything else I have had for a while.

We are just back from our 3rd visit here since Christmas. The menu is small which means it is freshly prepared. We shared short rib of beef, Peking cauliflower and the mackerel, which were all really well cooked. The desserts were fabulous too. Georgie and her staff have a passion for the food they serve and the chef is really performing well.

Recently held my 50th birthday celebration in the function room upstairs. Bar manager Georgie was extremely, friendly and helpful in helping me plan, offered good advice regarding canapes/buffet and liaised with DJ etc prior to the event, also offered to arrange for balloons if we didn't have time. The hire is very reasonable but drinks are not cheap.

If you want to add a touch of sophistication to your Wednesday night - try a wine tasting session (3rd Wednesday of the month). You get 5 generous samples of carefully selected wines, all described by the knowledgeable Giles from Southdown Cellars.

Myself and a friend deceided to try out the evening menu .We knew about the new opening times and menu.Who can blame the management and staff for wanting some evening s off, nobody really goes out for an classly meal on a tuesday evening good for them ! By having a shorter week it does give the kitchen team time to prepare all the intricate dishes on the menu.We chose the seabream and artichoke for our mains,they were cooked to prefection wonderful flavours ,textures . The chef even came down to ask how we enjoyed our meals. We shared had an apple and cinamon cake again beautifully presented and tasty.

Just left Chapter 12 after a first class anniversary meal.

Visited Friday evening having been to local theatre. Bar only half full. 3 people behind bars to include manageress. Some people came in 10.40pm and she said we close at 11 pm so you can have a quick drink. If the owner was a fly on wall he/she wouldnt be too impressed with her attitude. We waited a long time also to be served!!

Since moving to Hailsham a year ago this has always been my restaurant of choice. Very good service with a great atmosphere. This was still the case with my meal this evening, however, I was very disappointed to see the new menu. Although I appreciate it’s all locally produced, it’s a step backwards on the previous menu. Options are limited throughout and if you are vegetarian or vegan your choices are incredibly limited, as in one option. A lovely visit as ever but the reduced menu has reduced my normally 5 star review to a 4. Sort it out chapter 12, thanks.

If you are looking for somewhere self contained to hold an event, the top floor of this lovely building at Chapter 12 is perfect. Our buffet evening for 28 was great and had everything we needed - great atmosphere, own bar and facilities, music and delicious food. The staff were extremely helpful and very professional too. A great find.

Myself and my partner have eaten here a few times prior to our last visit as this is very local to us. This was our first visit since the menu change, was disappointed to see only a few options on the menu and prices increased. Asked for a Strawberry daiquiri they told me they do not do these anymore, very disappointing I know myself and a lot of my friends used to enjoy these. The prices of these cocktails are extortionate for Hailsham, you can get cheaper in Lewes/Brighton cocktail bars. Didn’t fancy anything on the menu, it being very limited. Went with the burger (as I have had that before) it came out much smaller than previously, table spoon of coleslaw and a few chips it was ok not worth the price. My partner had the seabass it came out with a slice of sweet potato and some dressing it was eaten within 1 minute and was left hungry, again for the price this was not great. Asked about the cheese bored for the dessert to see how much cheese you get for it being over £10.00 was told its worth the money, it came out with a couple of very thin slices of cheese very disappointing.

Had Sunday lunch today as we have done on several occasions In the past but I keep forgetting to leave a review! Warm & cosy atmosphere,lovely roast & a great place to eat, relax & chill ... we enjoy it so much we find ourselves there 2 or 3 times a week... :)

Lovely atmosphere and some fabulous food. Loved all three courses and the wine. Everything right down to the gin is locally sourced which we love.

Simply superb, we decided to meet up at this resturant having never visiting Hailsham high street and always just passing through. We travelled from Eastbourne, Bexhill and Lewes and we made the right decision to visit.

Went with a friend, both enjoyed. Sandwich, or shared a mixed platter in the past, but the menu has changed, although great detail to how the food sourced locally , vegan, and veg. Very small menu, little to choose from, small portions, higher prices. Sorry to see this as used to be a nice place to go to in Hailsham high street.

Always a warm welcome and great service. The food is fantastic and I really like that they use fresh local produce. I will be back!

Went with friends for a cocktail and dinner, very small menu which would have been fine except that they took 3 things off on arrival so not much choice! Live music that was so loud we could not hear our friends speak, we just looked at each other. I did comment on restaurant website but they have chosen to ignore me which I think is rude

Chapter 12 has always been one of our favourite places in Hailsham, and tonight was our first chance to try the new menu - it did not disappoint!

It is worth noting that this is a changing venue. The main emphasis seems now to be on lunch and dinner. Contrary to details above, the opening time for Chapter 12 is at 10 a.m.and not 9 a.m. as shown. Also they are closed all day Monday. Breakfast is no longer served. Morning coffee is still available.

Popped in around 3ish. Place just reopened after a revamp. Had a couple of drinks Wanted a snack/sandwich etc.. menu has changed & no longer does snack food, chips, onion rings or sandwiches so we didn’t eat, however I had 2 large Chardonnays, last in there they ranged between £5.80 -£7.00 ... didn’t think prices had changed.. what a shock... Chardonnay £10.20 per glass!!!!! What? Ok a large glass but I wouldn’t/haven’t ever paid that in central London... this is hailsham ... next time it’s coffee...

This was the only place we ate in during our short stay in Hailsham. Staff were very friendly & informative about Hailsham.. food was top quality unlike the 'Olde Forge Hotel' [not] should read B&B...; Highly reccommended

Nice place, bit busy, the food was a little sparse but good quality. Great cocktails. Was an ok place to go.

We have become regular visitors as we really love this place. Vibrant atmosphere at weekends with live music and friendly attentive staff. The food has repeatedly met our expectations, great quality and well set out. All four of us had the sea bass on a busy Friday evening yesterday and it was superb! For the level of quality on offer the prices are very reasonable.

Met some friends for drinks and bite to eat early evening . I was greeted by very friendly and welcoming staff . At several times during eve a drill was being used In the room adjacent to where we we seated or poss overhead which made conversation difficult . I ordered a salmon salad from the 'specials ' list , this consisted of an awful lot of green leaves and very little salmon which was in tiny flakes and mixed through the salad , I had to rummage through the bowl to find the salmon which in total could have fitted on a table spoon , the dressing was described as sweet chill which was less sweet but very very hot . When the bill arrived we were given 10% discount on the dish which was a nice gesture but whilst I would definitely have a drink in chapter12 sadly I would not eat there again .

Having recently visited the venue for lunch, we were given a very friendly welcome and the service staff were excellent. Restaurant area is comfortable and food was very nice and reasonably priced. Venue lends itself to parties and events upstairs and we liked it so much we returned later that day for coffee and cocktails (2 for 1 from 4.00 pm - 7.00 pm). We will be returning!

Our first visit to Chapter 12 was excellent. The service and staff were outstanding and the food was reasonably priced and extremely good. We will definitely be back and will recommend it to all our friends. Thank you!

There are three large steps to negotiate which is not going to happen with my wife's wheelchair. Didn't get any further than the front door. Shame really, looks nice.

Went here the other night with mates for the first time and was met by a really friendly set of staff that really attended to you well. Had good information from staff whilst taking orders etc. & they clearly knew the menu & food. The food came out and our table of 3 really all enjoyed it.

Amazing food great atmosphere. James who served us was brilliant friendly and helpful. Was easy to come here with good and the gluten free option is very good here too. During the wkend even live music so would definitely recommend this place

Great atmosphere and ambiance. With friends and kids. Great. Place and great massive burger! Service friendly and the waiter served us with a a great smile! Strongly recommend :)

cant fault service or food. wine list extensive but have the orgabic red wine its there house wine and very reasonable total cost very reasonable £90 plus live music. plates were all empty including the puddings.

We took old friends along this time and it was an excellent evening - great food really well presented. The staff were lovely and took a real interest in making us feel welcome and finding a table to meet our requirements. We love the atmosphere and the simple pleasure of live music. Definitely coming here again soon.

I have just had my 70th Birthday at Chapter 12. We couldn't have chosen a better place
