Came for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant environment is very good and the seats are spacious, suitable for families and gatherings.

As a native of Henan, I am so happy to be able to taste the delicacies of my hometown in London. This time I am having a dinner with friends from my hometown to reminisce about nostalgia over delicious food. Laochangjia Noodle House is definitely the best choice for friends in London to have dinner together!

The price is affordable among Chinese restaurants in London, the taste is authentic, and the dishes are large. The boss is so down-to-earth, I must give it a thumbs up. In addition, there is Heytea right across the door, which is so convenient.

I had a disappointing first-time experience at this Chinese restaurant, which will unfortunately be my last. I ordered four dishes, but the Spicy Sour Soup and Ma Po Tofu exceeded my expectations in a negative way. The excessive salt and chili oil levels (around 80%) made them inedible. When I brought this to the service staff's attention, they returned the soup to the kitchen but failed to address the issue, instead adding even more chili oil. The staff made no apology and implied that I was not accustomed to authentic Chinese cuisine, which was insulting as I am Asian and familiar with such dishes. The poor food quality and service left me disappointed.

Authentic northern Chinese noodles!

I ate a bowl of noodles with soybean paste on a hot day and the air-conditioned service was considerate. It was so satisfying.

Came for noodles at noon. The room was full of student groups, but the food was served very quickly. The service from the lady was also very good.

There are no frills, bells or whistles in Chang's Noodle, which might be off-putting for some. If you want that sort of thing, there are fancier restaurants like Din Tai Fung close by. However, if you want a genuinely authentic culinary experience, it would be hard to top Chang's Noodle. I had several dishes here that I'd never seen anywhere else outside of China (Thousand Year Old Eggs, Paomo) and they all tasted fresh and delicious. Really reasonable prices as well.

The environment is okay, and the dishes are served very quickly, but some of them seem to be pre-prepared dishes, which I am not very satisfied with. Of course, you can also choose some dishes that do not look like pre-prepared dishes.

I have eaten there with my family and we have chosen a dish that had dates and pork but in the food there were no dates, and none of the meat was fatty, we told the girl who served us and they did nothing.

If I could give this place 0 I would. Service was awful. Food was just about edible. Woman came over to make us pay as we got our food and asked us to go up to the bar to pay while we were eating. Do not come here!

I don’t often leave negative reviews, most restaurants have redeeming qualities. This has none! The longer we spent the worst it got. As soon as we sat we were rushed to order (thought this was fair enough as they were closing soon) but while ordering we asked if we could cancel something and the lady said this was not possible. She hadn’t even finished taking all of our orders yet. When the food arrived it was bland and lacking in flavour, I could cook better Chinese at home. Whilst eating we were told to go and pay at the counter, while our hot food was on the table?!? We then split the bill and they overcharged us. My friend paid £14 for one beer. The cherry on top? One of the toilets in the basement was covered in explosive and I mean explosive diarrhoea. The staff refused to acknowledge this and there was no sign of anyone cleaning it. I honestly would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Awful service, awful food, borderline dangerous cleanliness and we overpaid? DO NOT GO!

I was on the bus home from Chelsea Flower Show after a busy day of seeing the gardens and networking and didn’t eat all day so saw this place from the bus, got off and decided to have dinner. Took a picture halfway in as I was so hungry. 😅 Wow, I did not expect the food to be as good as it was! The beans and aubergine plate was incredible and I could eat that every day! The lamb chow mein was as lovely and soooooo filling! The perfect amount of spices. You can definitely share those two plates. I couldn’t finish it all. Was so filling! Definitely recommend for a lovely quick dinner or a group eating together. The lady that served me was so lovely! Thank you 💚🙏🌸

It’s the first time I’ve eaten hand-made noodles in London. It’s very chewy. The pork dumplings are also very authentic. The pickled beans go very well with rice. The food is served quickly. Recommended~

Horrible experience inside the restaurant

The service attitude is so bad. What kind of service fee should I pay? People from Xi'an, run away. There is green pepper in their Roujiamo. It's a cult! Liberate the Roujiamo! The noodles themselves are so unpalatable. It’s not as good as one-tenth of the strength of the noodle guy I went to Haidilao to catch.

Very delicious food, good service and environment. We walked through this restaurant by coincidence and without reservation, we ordered 2 noodles and they are served in 3 minutes. Nowadays it is hard to find some good Chinese restaurants in London where you can be full with only 12 pounds. Not to mention that they even let me pack up my tea, so I get hot tea to drink on the way back to my hotel. Strongly recommended! Just come without thinking!

The fried noodles are very authentic, and the shredded pork noodles with spicy pepper have a homey taste. They taste good, the meal is served very quickly, and the experience is good.

I am a lover of lamb cumin skewers and these are the best and cheapest I’ve found in London. They load ALOT of meat and flavour and only 1.80. (There’s a place charging 4.50 per skewer around the corner) I didn’t check the reviews before I came and I’m so glad I didn’t. People on here are so petty and must have no tastebuds, or no idea what Chinese food is . They are probably just used to their local ‘Chinese’ aka English Chinese food. THIS IS AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD. I’ve been to china and this is excellent, real Chinese food. The lamb soup with pitta was so incredibly fragrant. The portion size nearly killed me and my boyfriend (stomach expansion) The ma po tofu with pork was so tasty. Way better than anywhere in china town in my opinion and I’m a born Londoner. Similar dishes to Silk Road in Camberwell too but without the journey so perfect for me!

Recommend lamp soup related such as noodles or just soup, meat in baked bun. Not sure I would recommend other dishes.

This is a review of a dish delivered, so no complaints from service. 武汉热干面。 The eater, a Chinese person thought it was too salty and not authentic. She ended up vomiting in the public transport. It was probably the case of food poisoning. I highly recommend beware this particular restaurant.

My partner and I were looking forward to visiting again. We had been talking about revisiting Chang's Noodle for years. We had previously been served excellent food on one of our first dates in Nov 2021 and especially enjoyed the garlic ribs. So much so that we had our own inside jokes and had mentioned these ribs frequently since! However this time the ribs we were served were just bones and seasoning - nowhere near as big, meaty, garlicky or crunchy. They were essentially scraps. This experience really ruined what my partner and I considered a special place so we decided against ordering a full meal. Top picture Nov 2021. Bottom picture Feb 2024.

Great place and good food. Only place I’ve found that serves Wuhan’s 热干面 hot dry noodles. Staff were nice and reasonable prices I think

Yum meal and good price!! We came late in the evening maybe 40 minutes before closing. The cumin lamb skewers were the standout dish. I would had given 5 stars but there was a hair in my noodle, but they were kind enough to immediately replace the meal.

The worst service ever! our waiter was the guy with silver hair and had glasses on, he literally THROW the forks and knifes in the table and the menu were flying up to us! The place is nice and the food is good.

Had a bowl of hand made chilly noodles. There was too much MSG in it and it disgusted me so much that as soon as I got home I vomitted. Never want to return again.

I stopped in for a take-away. Ants Climbing a Tree glass noodles, Szechuan dish. They had it done in maybe four minutes. Perfect texture and flavour. Not too spicy or oily. They obviously specialise in large groups but I was impressed with just the one dish.

The seats in the store are spacious and the tables are far apart. I have been there several times and I can get a seat without waiting. I read other reviews and it seems that I encountered dishing errors, but maybe because I went there alone and have never encountered a similar situation. The attitude of the store clerk is not particularly positive but it is not bad either. Overall, there is nothing wrong with it. A satisfying place for a slow meal alone. I really like the texture and flavor of the steamed buns in the meal, but the seasoning of the noodles is a little salty, and the noodles themselves have a soft texture. The soup base seems to always contain angelica and wolfberry. It was my first time to eat beef noodles with angelica...!

They leave chicken skin on chicken in the chicken chow mein. I hate chicken skin. Slimy

点了一碗羊肉泡馍和一份羊肉烩面，每一份上来只有三小块肉。在饥肠辘辘的时候吃到这样的食物真的很失望，我在欧洲旅游一圈，从来没有吃过肉这么少的面，比国内兰州牛肉拉面的牛肉还少。加上服务费一人13，商家怒赚10磅吧？果然在伦敦的中餐馆不会在乎客人的感受，因为会有一茬一茬的韭菜割，永不停息。 Ordered 2 portions of noodles. Each portion only came with three small pieces of meat. It's really disappointing to eat such food when I’m hungry and having some reasonable expectations. I've traveled around Europe and I've never had noodles with such little meat, or even such little portion. It's even less beef than the ones we had in china (meat is expensive and food is so cheap in china so we understand it). Including the service fee, it’s 13 pounds per person, I guess the profit of each portion is almost 10 pounds, right? Sure enough, Chinese restaurants in London just don't care about their customers, because they will always have new customers and never stop.

If you take reservations you should be open for the time you take the reservation. Simple as.

The rule of thumb is : if there are too many non-Chinese in a Chinese restaurant then the dishes are not local enough. In this restaurant, 90% customers are Chinese!

Honestly, this was the worst Rou jia mo I've ever had. The meat was mixed with green onions, which really didn't suit my taste at all. However, their noodle soup was decent. So, if you're quite hungry after visiting the British Museum, you might consider this place. Just be aware that the prices are not low. 老實說，這是我吃過最難吃的肉夾饃，沒有之一。。。它肉還參雜著一些蔥菜，真的不是我吃的慣的口味。 但是它的羊肉麵還ok，從大英博物館出來後，如果真的很餓，可以到這家看看。

Went there to get a late lunch before going to explore the British museum. Wanted to taste a few things and ended up with too much food for too people. Still, flavors and all was very good. There were many other interesting items there. Pricewise was okay as well.

After eating it, I got gastroenteritis. I won't say more about the ingredients. Henan people's pasta is so delicious, why is it so bad to death here? Bullying international students, right? Really, I have a bubble in my mind to eat this bowl of noodles. It's better than this when I knead noodles with my feet at home... People who see this comment must not come. If you come, you will regret it for the rest of your life. If it tastes bad, it will make people sick. Don't be afraid of death!

We ordered BBQ lamb skewers and lamb chow main. The BBQ skewers were crispy and flavourful, a bit fatty though still it was nice. (In the photo it looks dry and doesn't look yummy, I thought so too but when eat, it was nice🙂) Lamb chow main, we ordered one not spicy, one spicy as the staff recommended. But another staff brought it and we asked which one was the spicy one but she couldn't understand English and pointed to chilli oil and said "Put it!!" Eventually both were not spicy. One chow main contained lamb but the other didn't have meat at all. We mentioned it to the staff then she brought pieces of lamb on a plate 💦 I give 3 stars because the skewers and these pieces of lamb on the plate were both tender and nice. Usually in Chinese restaurants meats are chewy and hard but it was nice here.

Food standard is getting worse unfortunately since last time I visited them. I went there a few months ago and I can tell all those dishes have gone down sides for some reasons. Especially those two noodles we ordered the taste just not quite right. I don't think they get a pass for authentic north-eatern China cuisines.

Ordered Mapo Tofu lunch set and it didnt look like the picture. Mostly rice rather than tofu or meat. Understandable that food may not 100% like ads but to this extent is simply wrong.

Terrible customer service, the guy that was our server extremely rude I was looking at my menu to tell what I would like to order this guy just took the menu from my hand without asking if was done. Also with my partner she was looking at the drinks menu and without warning he grabbed the menu. I didn't stand up and left in consideration of my mother in law her knee was injured. The food swimming in oil and disgusting costumer service. DONT WAIST your MONEY and energy in this bad place you can get lots of nice options in that address.

Food is really authentic and yummy. My favorite is the lamb skewers.

Really great noodle quality, range of options. Many spices dishes as well. Service was okay, not the most welcoming but agreeable. Overall pretty good if you come just for the good food.

你去吃的时候要问问有没有团餐，本人体验非常不好。进去后不到三分钟，马上要求点餐，因为有团餐，等一下厨房很忙。刚上餐后马上要求结账，因为团餐人多，没空来结账。点了个3份汤面一份炒面。只上了汤面，等汤面吃完了，炒面还没来。服务员很不开心的说：因为团餐，忙. 之后一直要求服务员提供饮用水，到我吃完了才给我拿来。要求加点香菜放汤面，说厨房有团餐，不可能给加香菜。之后看看账单，原来是直接加了10%服务费。可以说是我在伦敦体验到最差服务的中餐厅。
