I've only given a 4 star for the atmosphere because we dined at the Chandos Arms later afternoon. The hospitaly is second to none though . Matt serves us and he couldn't do enough for us Stewart the landlord is a cracking fella and our visit was very enjoyable. I had the Lasagne and side salad and my partner had the pepperoni pizza

Looked a bit grubby and clapped out inside, more like a community centre type of vibe than a relaxing pub. Staff seemed to act like they’d never had a customer before. Seems to be popular among the oldies, if you don’t mind watching granny dribbling while you eat.

I can’t comment on food or drink. We didn’t get that far, however, the customer service and accessibility was horrific, degrading and rude. The accessible door was blocked off by a table, they had to move this out the way, with all of the customers watching. Baring in mind we told them when booking that required accessibility. We went with my in-laws who required wheelchair access. The blonde woman didn’t apologise at all, she stood right in the way and didn’t even attempt to acknowledge us, she told us about the toilets “they aren’t very disabled friendly you might need to go in with someone” not apology involved. There was no reason so be so rude. She also stated to her colleague under her breath that this wasn’t disclosed in the booking, which it was. When we left, she closed the door and was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. No type of communication was attempted from either member of staff that attempted to talk to us. No one said goodbye, no one apologised. Don’t bother going here if you need accessible features.

Lovely local pub. Large beer garden to the front. Lots of indoor seating for drinks and food too. Parking too the rear is limited, but roadside parking is also available. Sunday lunch is very good, can get busy, so get there early. (Served between 12:00h - 17:00h) Good size portion too. Pork, beef or turkey with all the trimmings you'd expect. Well priced as well.

We stopped here on our way home from a dog walk and were so impressed. The key thing being how lovely all the staff were. They were so friendly, polite and patient, our dog is a little awkward and they were so good with him! The food was delicious and hot, the chips in particular were really good! We will definitely be visiting again!

Booked a table here for a 70th Birthday meal. Being on Mother’s Day weekend, my hopes were pretty low to find somewhere to accommodate a party of 14 but I called The Chandos Arms after seeing some good reviews and they were more than happy to accommodate us. I had excellent communication from start to finish with Charlotte and she helped me organise such a memorable afternoon for a special man. Nothing was too much trouble. We had our own private area which was just perfect - cosy (radiators turned on especially for us) and away from the main pub so we didn’t have to worry about being too loud and allowing the kids to be kids. The food was excellent with the usual pub favourites and we felt really well cared for. Thank you so much! We will definitely be returning to make the most of your outside space in the summer! X

Friends and I had a very nice Sunday roast today, service friendly and efficient, but, my only complaint is that the disabled access round the back where there no steps is a bit like an assault course with wooden pallets and other stuff in the way and the path is very mossy and slippery.

Fairly decent food here, 4 stars for service but only because the order was messed up. Atmosphere only 1 star because we were seated in literally the coldest pub I've ever eaten in. They tried to accommodate us by giving us an electric radiator which didn't really make any difference from the draughts coming through the doors and windows. I'd like to politely suggest a calor gas burner or electric fan heaters to keep the place warm-ish. I appreciate the weather has taken a turn but I do feel this should be a pressing issue for management. It has affected my rating on the food purely because it made the food turn very cold very quickly. The waitresses were very lovely though and polite. I'd like to come back when it's warmer!

Wow, wow, wow. We just ordered a takeaway roast dinner, YES a TAKEWAY roast dinner from Chando’s arms. We ordered for the first time and we were very sceptical at first as we were unsure how it would turn out having to be stored in containers whilst we went to collect it. Safe to say we were amazed at how tasty the food was and how much of it there was. We ordered 5 roast dinners all at £13 each which is really cheap for the shear amount of food we had, we were all suitably stuffed. We will most definitely be returning to chandos arms for a roast dinner and we will be also certain to try out other food on the menu.

Came for late lunch with family. Service was poor, staff not attentive and the best service was at the end with the gent who took our payment. Reaaaaally slow service - took an hour to get starters and another half hour after that to get mains. No one came to check if all was okay or if we needed more drinks. Food was below average and most of it seemed to be overcooked or generic freezer stuff (particularly the stuffing balls). Wouldn’t come back as no one seemed to care about service.

We ate here for lunch yesterday, I had a baguette and my husband had a beef burger. It looked great when it arrived but within 6 hours of eating the burger my husband has had severe sickness and diarrhoea. He hasn’t eaten anything else which could have caused this. I have spoken with the manager who Ofcourse says they ok the meat to the correct temperature and that he had eaten a burger yesterday too. But it had to have been the burger that has caused his illness. Such a shame as we are away this weekend so it has spoilt the whole weekend for us. Don’t risk it!

I have just tip toed through an 18 person meal for my family celebrating two 80th birthdays. The tip toe was to avoid the dire attitude of the landlady . Everything I said and did raised her hackles and got her snarling . I understand life is a task to be endured but we chose the Chandon because the food is good and Holly works hard to get a job done . Having personally spent over £400 pounds on a lunch at least a third of those present will tell their friends it was nice but the land lady was a bit harsh. We booked a month ago and the outside area was filthy . I know this as I had to set an 18 person table myself . We were treated like we should be glad to be fed . Having eaten here many times since Stuart took over from Chris. I’m now left thinking next time call the harrow. Coming from a hospitality back ground I expected to be grateful for a nice time not glad that my wife stopped me from ripping someone a new bottom . Shame as Holly worked her backside off to at least feed us . Mark Vervaet

I wouldn’t bother with this place if you want afternoon tea. We arrived and were told that we didn’t have a booking for afternoon tea and they couldn’t now put one together as they had no food to provide it. I asked to speak to a manager and suddenly they said they could do it but we would have to wait half an hour, so we waited. Well it certainly wasn’t worth the wait, probably 4 slices of bread cut in fingers, with predominantly ham & mustard, cheese with an unrecognisable red stuff inside and soft cheese and cucumber. One tiny scone each a tiny square of brownie and a ball of something that would give anyone with dentures a run for their money! Appalling and definitely not worth £14 a head! No offer of a discount after having to wait and being told that the booking didn’t exist, even when I provided email evidence that it had been booked! Also the pub was freezing cold and therefore not very welcoming, toilet seats in the ladies coming off the toilet bowl. AVOID!! Chandos arms Oakley

I organised our work Christmas dinner at the Chandos Last week and we were not disappointed! Communication on booking the dinner was good, and we even added two more on last minute which was no issue for them. The food was amazing, generous portions and good quality. I’m coeliac and they were aware in advance. The servers knew which dinner was mine and came out with the plates saying my name. This made me relax so I knew I was eating a gluten free dinner. I had soup to start with a GF roll, this was so tasty and fresh! Turkey dinner for main which was huge and absolutely gorgeous - even a GF Yorkshire pud! Thankfully we were given time before pudding arrived, which was another delightful course, apple crumble cheesecake! I couldn’t finish it all but it was so lovely! Stewart, Ash and the team served us well, very attentive and we couldn’t have ask for more, Chef Matthew cooked amazing food! If you want a great Christmas meal, please go to the Chandos Arms, you won’t be disappointed! I have also been in the summer and they do make amazing pizzas too! Never been disappointed by the food!

Recently tried the munch box 2 a couple of weeks back was my first time trying red doner very tasty, value for money is crazy staff are always pleasant and the place is always looking clean. Orderd munch box 2 again last night and did not disappoint once again huge portions 3 types of meat and good old fashioned chip shop chips, a large choice of salad and a pitta this things hard to finish and could easily feed 2 people. Couldn't say anything negative only thing I would want would be a mini version with the 3 meats as a lunchtime option.
