Couldn't think of anything bad generally for our first visit...

Great evening and atmosphere. We all enjoyed our meals. The staff were so helpful and attentive. We had the sharing board to start with and the waiter explained all the different dishes and dips. Food was so good 😊

We visited on the 6th October for my Step Mum’s birthday and for our first visit we were blown away! The customer care was exceptional, we had two young children with us and the staff we so engaging and attentive with them. The food was incredible, so fresh and absolutely delicious! The restaurant itself was clean and beautifully decorated! It was a really special dinner and we will absolutely be back! Thank you to you all!

4 of us came to enjoy the Bottomless brunch. The food was fresh and really tasty. Everything arrived beautifully hot and we all enjoyed our chosen dishes. The staff are really friendly but also very attentive, our prosecco glasses were always topped up, without ever needing to ask at all! All in all a lovely brunch for the beginning of a friends 40th Birthday Celebrations.

One of my worst experience in a turkish restaurant,very expensive for what you get. The food is very bland and didn’t taste fresh,service didn’t impressed me. They could see we didn’t have bread for houmus,no eye contact at all. I don’t mind paying for what you asking but at least I expect a good meal and a friendly service. Unfortunately not any chance for me to return here.

Very average food. Managed to finish my main due to waiting so long for it. The younger staff members were however very polite and friendly. Management wasn’t very attentive, asked him to bring a cake/dessert out for my sisters’ birthday, which I would have been (as expected) very happy to pay for. He said he’ll sort something but never did. Sisters’ steak was stringy and bland. She left most of it, nothing was done about this. An apology would have been enough. They didn’t even ask us once if our food was okay throughout the meal? Just terrible, won’t be back.

We had a wonderful meal and experience at this little gem of a restaurant yesterday. As always the owner and his staff went above and beyond for us and treated us like royalty. The food was fresh and delicious, couldn’t fault it at all. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

I was part of a large group attending Chanak for an early evening dinner on Sunday which was very enjoyable. I found the service to be very attentive and the spicy chicken saute was delicious.

There was a strange disconnect all night between members of our group getting their food and drinks and the staff and manager providing them. Several customers asked for a sauce to go with their main course and were asked if they would like the sauce that came with their bread and when the reply was no, the staff said this was the only sauce and seemed puzzled this wasn't a satisfactory response. My main course never arrived despite me discussing it with three members of staff and the manager whilst others in our group tucked into their main courses without sauces. A member of our group pointed out to a waitress that I didn't have a meal in front of me which again didn't seem to register any response so I moved my cutlery and glass out of the way to show a clear space on the table in front of me. Customers commented their rice appeared as a side dish after they had started their mains and a bowl of tasty chips later arrived on the table that the staff had no idea who it belonged to. When my main course did eventually arrive without any apology, I pointed out it was too late as the rest of the group had finished their meals, so I rejected it and it was immediately taken back to the Kitchen without comment. The desserts did look to be very generous portions. A very strange evening out.

We visited a couple of times in the past years. And both occasions we couldn’t fault this restaurant. To give Chanak their due the food is still good. More pricey to what it was previously, I would say almost on the verge of central London prices now. Perhaps this change since Covid and perhaps for their extension of the restaurant. There were some new faces serving us which we didn’t see before. And unfortunately this really let down the service. They were not rude but clearly shows one young waiter didn’t want to engage much. There was a mature gentleman and lady which were better I think part of the owners. But overall the service was not as good as before. It seems that more attention was given to regular local customers, and when we left some of the staff were near the main exit door not one said thank you hope to see you again, nothing. It doesn’t take much for being a bit more attentive to everyone rather to a select few. We recently returned from the Mediterranean and everyone was so pleased happy and willing to serve. Which made us return to some of the same restaurants again. This is what really let this down considering we paid over £100. Also as Chanak from what I gather is an independent restaurant when my daughter wanted to ask for less than what was on the desert menu we were told they can only give what’s stated on the menu. Many other local restaurants in the area have always been accommodated and taken less of a charge for this situation. That’s a real shame especially if they are a family run restaurant they could not accommodate this considering we were happy to pay overall bill. Perhaps the break they take from 5th to 21st August might help some re generate their customer service. Unfortunately we will give some thoughts about returning now in the future.

I dropped in for a snack so can not comment on the experience of a complete meal. I was really impressed by the quality and freshness of the cuisine. The two starters I chose were the tabbouleh and the Cypriot halloumi plus some wine. It was delicious but such generous servings I could not finish them. Personally I thought the food was great value for money. The service provided by the young waitress was spot on. If I was living locally this would be a regular place for me to eat. I liked the Turkish Sauvignon blanc too. Pleasant environment amenities spotlessly clean with beautiful washbasins. Thank you

We used to order a food very often during pandemic and then started coming in person. Most recently we have been after refurbishment but I was genuinely shocked at the prices and portions. We ordered Mixed Kebab which is £28 on menu and moussaka which is nearly £20. I was shocked how little meat was in 28 pound dish and there was no garnisb salad. I enquired with waiter and he said they changed it and it doesn't come with it.the salads on menu are 11 pounds? We ordered two starters hummus and baba ganoush which is another 16 pounds.Woth soft drinks the bill came to £80 pounds for 2 people . The portions were small and I make better moussaka which lacked the flavour.The grilled meat was good but not enough for 28 pounds dish. We do not mind paying for sufficient food and quality and we feel Chanak is increasing prices and decreasing portions every time we come and is not a good value.Sorry but we won't come back unless you have special set menus or improve the portions.

Used to be called Little Istanbul but changed it to Chanak Restaurant. The food portions a very high cost and nothing. They charge for sauces which is usually free in a Turkish Restaurant. It seems like they are trying to match some lavish cuisine up in central london. I recommend going not coming here if you want to end up leaving rather hungry.

Nice atmosphere and decor. Food was amazingly nice. Prices not so, they seemed to be much higher than when I last went a few months ago. Table was small and cramped in, although I'm sure I could have been relocated if I had asked. The service was generally good although at one stage three charming waitresses were chatting away in the centre of the room and failing to cast their eyes over the room, so was unable to get their attention. Would probably come again but at those prices will not be a regular.

This is a good place for friends' weekend lunch. The lamb shank and lamb chops are very delicious. I like the interior design of this restaurant. The restaurant owner passionately asked if we needed anything. Overall 5 star.

Went with a large family group on a Sunday afternoon. Without doubt one of the best lunches ive ever had. Food was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back soon.

I've always thought the food quality here was good, in or takeaway. Tonight we had a takeaway. There was note on website to say not taking internet orders, please ring. I rang. Lady explained one or two things had been taken off menu. So we ordered squid - website price £9.45 - and got 6 rings. Spicy falafel with hummus was not spicy, 5 small roundels, with a veneer of hummus smeared in one corner. Loads of bread - it's cheap. Mixed kebab £25 web price but loads of meat. Kofta and lamb v good, chicken tasteless. Spinach with pinenuts (soarse) ok. Charge when I picked up £6 more than I expected from web - but had not been told this. £8 discount for collecting. So, food is still good, and I'd you have money to burn, great - portions generous but not cheap (ok) or niggardly and expensive (not ok). Come on Chanak - you can do better.

Chanak has quickly become one of our top places to eat. Everyone there is great and the food is absolutely to die for, ive never had meat so tender! Chanak has a great menu with lots of choice and every visit has left us wanting more. We will be back soon!

Compliments to the chef! Please try the lamb Kavurma. It was one of the most delicious lamb dishes I’ve ever had! Highly recommend

Restaurant has reopened after being closed for refurbishment. New look is very nice. Food is still lovely but why oh why has the little salad disappeared with the kebabs/rice? It was a perfect accompaniment. Lovely food, fantastic service. If it's your birthday, you'll definitely be centre of attention! Very highly recommended 👌 Definitely try the Backlava!

Average restaurant, high prices! No worth it!

We went here last night for a 12 person family dinner and it was just as lovely as every other time i have been here (maybe 5 or 6 times). Every time we receive the same service, you are treated as a regular even if you are not, the kids are made welcome, and last night they even got one of the kids up on the chair whilst we and the staff sang happy birthday! Food is always lovely, for me its the best restaurant of any kind both in terms of service and food. Thanks again and see you in February

I really enjoyed everything about this place, the waiters were exceptional in their friendliness and service, they offered extra veg for my baby, a high chair and were always talking to him whenever passing by. The food was extremely tasty and I cannot fault them at all. I can't wait to go again and take more friends and family to experience it!

Just been for a Christmas eve meal with friends. The food and service was fantastic, staff all friendly and willing to answer any questions we had. Highly recommended. Will be going back.

Super menu - salad & meat / seafood very good quality - everything so fresh - vibrant flavours. The staff were very attentive to my nut allergy. For wine selection - the Majestic, Aegeon Sauvignon was a particular favourite!

I recently dined at Chanak Turkish restaurant and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The meat dishes were impressively tender, showcasing the chef's skill. While the portions were about average, the flavors were rich and authentic, making it a delightful culinary experience.

EDIT: Lowered the score to a single star, because I find the restaurant's response pathetic and they are just trying to (partially) invalidate my actual experience there. When we were asked about the extra bread, we were very clearly told we would be charged for it. We specifically checked, because the manner in which we were offered more bread sounded very much like an upsell. They can charge whatever they like, but having their bread/dip proportions so off and then pushing extras on you, or else you can't really finish your meal, is SLY, it is NOT Turkish hospitality. I was pretty chill about everything at the time, but my partner (who's travelled extensively in Turkey) was not. So much so, he (a man I have never heard complain in a restaurant) told the waiter, when he came back to check if we were happy with our mains, that he finds his experience there very poor and it's no reflection of true Turkish hospitality. Bourne End is in a wealthy area, they'll have plenty of customers who won't care or pay any attention to their sly upselling techniques, so clearly neither will they. (Why be sly tho, there is no need!!) After my partner spoke his mind, we were offered more bread without charge, but it was a little too late then, we had nearly finished our mains by then, so we declined. We had pointed out how the bread/dips amounts were totally off/disproportionate earlier, when they could have fixed it, but at that point they cared more about an upsell worth a few quid, than us enjoying our meal there. ORIGINAL: The food tasted nice, but the portions were small and we (2 ppl) left hungry having spent over £70 at the restaurant. Their meze platter was lush, but it came with a measly amount of bread that was not enough for all the dips; you were expected to order (and pay for) additional bread and it felt like the proportion of bread/dips was purposefully designed to be off to increase side orders. We'd barely started eating when the waiter came to ask if we'd like some more bread! Sure, soon after we had no bread left, with nearly half the dips still to eat. We didn't get any more bread, out of principle, as the menu stated the platter included 'warm bread', so surely it wasn't too much to expect the amount of bread matched the amount of dips. The portion of rice that came with the main was also offensively small, like an eggcup and you could pretty much count the number of grains on your plate. Bottom line: food nice enough, but don't go there if you're hungry.

Took my wife to Chanak for her birthday last night. The food was exceptional, service excellent and wine first class. All in all a lovely experience. Not cheap but top top class.

My first time on my friend Birthday and they make a lovely surprise to her and basically all people at restaurant dancing and singing to her. Awesome. Thank you so much at all staff.

Very good it's turkish restaurant .food was great Very healthy 👍 and service was faster than uther restaurant and very important things the car parking is very cheap compared with London you can't even imagine 80p for 1 hour.

Nice place very reasonably priced and the food served was pretty good. We sat outside on a warm evening which was pleasant, but you are next to quite a busy area for cars coming to pick up takeaways etc from the other food shops close by.

Drove through Bourne End on Monday, and found this restaurant, just intending to have a drink on a hot day, decided to eat as well, glad we did, food very tasty, chips beautifully cooked and hot. Service friendly, would certainly visit again.

Very good quality food cooked whenever I've been. Service is nice and friendly. Very spacious interior and it's lovely sitting in the outer area during good weather when they open up the windows and roof. Prices are decent.

Impromptu dinner option for us after a day out. Don't know the area but saw the restaurant on the high street. Lovely and friendly service, delicious food and reasonably priced, especially with the portion size! Would definitely recommend and if we're back in the area again will pay another visit.

was born in Flackwell Heath so know the area. I passed by Chanak so many times on the way to somewhere else and kept thinking I must try it. Due to a change in plans my friend, who lives in Pinkneys Green, and I though let’s do it That was in July and it was so good we came back in August and will be pretty regular moving in. The staff are just lovely. Helpful and cheery. The restaurant itself with the open air section is welcoming and relaxed BUT the food is exquisite in every way. I eat a lot in London and surrounds and the food is 5* standard and probably Michelin too. The choice, quality and price is fantastic. Keep up the excellent work. Pauline

Top notch! Large portions and bread/dip included. I had rib eye shish and it was cooked to perfection, I was too full to finish the chips which is very unusual!

My husband and I went for a date night, our first visit!! The hummus was authentically delicious, our mains were lovely, especially my halibut steak, the portions were so generous I couldn’t finish!! Cocktails were brilliant, great atmosphere, staff made us so welcome especially the young girl who gave us a taster of Turkish delight(gorgeous by the way) she joked with us and we giggled, they were patient and we weren’t rushed out so just sat and enjoyed ourselves in a calm and enjoyable atmosphere, loved the music, it was someone’s birthday and they turned the music up and everyone clapped whilst the staff sang happy birthday it was wonderful. Brilliant food, brilliant staff brilliant setting thank you!! We can’t wait to return!! P.s Baklava was delicious!!

Average food with terrible service Ordered bread basket with starter, finally came half way through main after 4th time of asking (less of a basket, more of a single bit cut into quarters, I dont understand bread being an issue in a Turkish restaurant) I had lamb shish for main, no sauce offered, not even a drizzle of Cacik, I didn't ask as we were still trying to get the bread basket End of the meal plates weren't cleared for 20 mins, husband had to get up to ask for bill, paid whilst dirty plates were still on the table, didn't ask how the meal was etc... £75 for average food and miserable, unmotivated staff. If you want a good Turkish restaurant we had a much better experience at Sheesh in maidenhead or Meze Grill Kitchen in Windsor

My huband and recently had an amazing experience at this restaurant. I have to say that it exceeded my expectations. The food was truly delicious and the portions were grnerous. The staff was courteus and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. The appetizers and bread were extremely fresh and the meat was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend giving it a try. You won't regret it!

Visited for date night with my wife on Saturday, food was very good atmosphere was good but spoiled slightly by some smaller children but that can't be helped and is expected from a family restaurant

Called in after being recommended. As I was a lone customer I might as well have had a " leper keep clear " sign around my neck. Despite it being a lovely evening I was shown to a un laid table as far away from the entrance as possible. Decided to take my custom elsewhere.

Booked here for lunch on Sunday and so glad we did! Had a lovely warm welcome and chose our table (in the outside section with the curtain windows open) Ordered the house wine, which was good, and a soft drink and the hot mezze to share followed by the Anatolia kebab, chicken for me and lamb for BFF Everything was delicious, portions were substantial and as good as I've had in Turkey! Our waitress was attentive, friendly and professional and with all of the other staff created a lovely atmosphere - so we stayed for more drinks and coffee! Will definitely return would not hesitate to recommend

We enjoyed Chanak Restaurant so much the other day. We were welcomed in by really friendly staff and I was recommended a great alcohol free mocktail which is one of the best mocktails I’ve enjoyed since being pregnant! Their hot mezze platter was divine. We shared it and because of being pregnant there were a few bits I couldn’t try but what I could try was absolutely divine. We had a great experience and will definitely go back! Highly recommend a stroll along the river before or after!!
