Chamber 36 Smithdown in Liverpool

Have wanted to try this place for a while and it didn't disappoint! Was a little worried it wouldn't be authentic but the food was some of the best Chinese I have tasted in the city. The waitress was lovely and attentive, couldn't do or explain enough for us, menu had lots of choice and probably the tastiest salt and pepper sui mai I've had! Great for dim sum and dumplings on cold days! Thanks guys 👏

Amazing vegan food and very affordable too! It was delicious and not spicy at all. It’s great since all other places always seem to add spice to their vegan dishes. Super flavourful and cheap. Definitely at least 4-5£ cheaper than Wagamama’s dishes and much tastier!!

Came in without knowing what to expect. Best service i have received so far in the last years. Jade was absolutely outstanding and well beyond the expectations. Thank you. Pad thai with chiken and prawns amazing as well, would say best in town. Defo coming back

great place to eat as a student, friendly staff and great atmosphere

Service is great and the staff friendly but the Sunday roast was very disappointing, particularly the veggie portion - just a sliver of cauliflower in place of the hunk of meat you get with the other choices (see photos). Seriously could’ve eaten it twice, I can't believe they were the same price! Sunday aside, after several excellent weeknight meals here I’ve had a few bad ones over the past month, seems like a new chef who doesn’t know how to cook tofu. The meals I've seen over the past month look and taste nothing like they did a few months back, basically just sauce and tofu. 🙁

We had tried out the city centre branch and loved it, and the Smithdown one was next on our list. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was as delicious as its counterpart in town. Will definitely visit again to try a different selection of their menu!

Food disgusting very poor quality chicken skewers were 3 tiny pieces of chicken on a small wooden straw not enough for a child (not skewers). Steak very fatty, chips warm,service terrible. Had to ask if we could have our tables cleared of plates and empty bottles so we could reach our drink. Large party not told some of us would be in 3 separate booths. More suitable for students, no atmosphere lucky we had a singer. When in booths separated from rest of our party. Not very clean. Would not recommend to any one.

Food hot and tasty, average customer service. Walk in visit - given table next to the toilets even tho multiple tables empty and were still empty on leaving. Staff made little eye contact. Had to ask where meal was after half an hour waiting for starters. Told there was a problem with the printer, but no apology nor any attempt to rectify dissatisfaction. Incorrect meal served and told we could just keep the food we hadnt wanted.

Very good vegan options. I took my wife here for her birthday, we were very happy with the many vegan options. We had dumplings, spring rolls, Thai pad noodles with veggies, and udon noodles with tofu. Food was very delicious. The staffs were very polite, fast and professional. Very happy. Definitely we will come back.

Went there with a group of girls last night. We all had different food and every meal was delicious and a good price! Great staff and service. Will definitely go back soon.

Beware of high service charge. Food was OK, small portions, overpriced. Wouldn't recommend. Didn't feel oriental at all. Bowls and plates were chipped too. Coke tasted watered down. Staff were friendly.

Most wonderful accommodating staff. Very warm and friendly . Nothing is too much trouble. We visited on 6th July with a table of 12 and were served by 2 lovely gentleman. Food was delicious have been before and would go again ! Even the food we took home ands ate cold later was just as nice ! 5 💫

Very nice setup and polite staff. Food menu is pretty vast which is good. I thought that overall the price was a little pricy, however the desert was pretty unique which was chocolate spring rolls which were delicious 🤤

Amazing food plus a vegan menu. Would definitely recommend.

Deep fried, heavily battered school carrots =\= tempura - so if you had school dinners in the 80s you know the texture. But across 7/8 dishes there was only one that was good, which was the pork belly. Service was ok but a bit twitchy and we felt watched/rushed. Atmosphere was sadly near non existent despite a good theme and potentially great soundings. We'd driven past a load of times and meant to pop in as it had the right things written in the window, looked nice enough, and the reviews were good. Our experience however was very different. Food was mediocre at best, resembling most of the things we ordered, but not really delivering. See heavily (read chip shop) battered soggy carrot, mushy battered aubergine etc for tempura, a bland nasi goreng, duck pancakes which were pre assembled sans veg, and pencil thin. Stodgy Kimchi dumplings with no Kim, you get the idea. Really disappointing overall, hopefully it's a one off as and a bad day for the restaurant, as we were also the only customers in for the whole time we were there. Onward to the next place.

Amazing food and good atmosphere. 2 adults and 2 kids who are extremely picky eaters. We all enjoyed the meal and are already planning our next visit. Also really reasonable in price. Very slow service. Slow service for drinks order even slower service for food order. Food was lovely and tasty once it arrived but meal are small so not very good value for money. The also add there own surchage on so dont tip as theyve already charged you this. Restaurant very cold, had to eat with are coats on.

Had been looking forward to trying and we were disappointed. The restaurant was so cold that we had to sit with our coats on, as did the majority of the other diners. Although the food was tasty enough, the portions were small and not worth the value. A starter of dumplings consisted of 3 small dumplings for £6. The mains were brought out separately. And i was overcharged for one of the drinks. The waitresses were pleasant enough but we won't go again. I'd rather have larger portions for cheaper cost.

Forgot our starter. Asked twice the same girl forgot twice, ordered a drink no drink arrived so we asked for the bill and took our main meal home. Town centre one is the top scorer on food service, cocktails every thing was rushed with only 2 waitresses

The vegan options are great. Fab cocktails too. I would've given 5 stars but the edamame dumplings tasted like they had mushy peas in and not edamame beans.

2nd visit to this lovely eatery. Week night treat. Doesn't disappoint. Cannot believe haven't been before. Quite local. Food fresh, tasty, quick service, attention to detail. Visually appealing. Good for vegan, vegetarian and GF options. Value for money and generous portions. Staff friendly, lovely atmosphere, music. All on same ground floor level including toilets so accessible. Spacious. Can park across road behind d Tesco so no worries and on bus route. Cocktails lovely too!

2nd visit and does not disappoint. Friendly staff, service really quick, fresh, tasty food. Very clean, nice atmosphere, music good. Really enjoyable evening. Weekday treats each time, not too busy. Well worth a visit. Great portion sizes and great value. Love the cocktails too!

Great menu with loads of vegan and veggie options. We've been 3 times now and it's always a v good experience with tasty food and v friendly service. They have a city centre restaurant too - both are equally good.

Great vibe on entrance. Staff were lovely, can’t fault them or the presentation and cleanliness of the venue. We ordered the prawn wrap and spring rolls for the starter and crispy chilli beef for mains. Unfortunately the food really did let down. The spring rolls had nearly no filling and the beef was neither crispy or spicy. Can’t fault the speed of service or presentation but we ended up sending our mains back because there was just no flavour or texture. We just paid for the starters and drinks. Can’t fault the staff who dealt with the situation either. We were offered replacement mains and apologies but with the starter being a bit of a let down too we didn’t want to risk a different main. Not sure if we’ll return!

Service was good, food was lovely but the portions were tiny. We ordered a vegan platter for two (£8.50 per person) and we got 4 small spring rolls, 2 small croquettes, 4 pieces of tofu and 4 gyoza. We had to order 2 sides and then go for pudding somewhere else. Don’t book here if you’re hungry

Service was really good, however the food left a lot to be desired. The vegetable bao was undercooked and the dough was still raw in the middle. The chicken bao was more like a sandwich than bao, and was not very appealing. Best food out in ages, really good value for the quality of food, huge drinks selection, staff all really friendly.
