We booked a table for 7, showed up and no one’s at the restaurant, it’s closed? no one answering the phone and paid £15 for a taxi.

The best Persian dish I’ve ever had; aromatic and delicious. My new favourite. The gentleman who served me rounded my bill down because neither of us had change. I’m definitely going back. Fabulous food and warm, friendly service. I can’t recommend Chai Shai highly enough. 10/10!!!

Waited 30 mins from collection time. Got hoe with order (mixed grill) and no nan bread. Nice food but the whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Tried contacting restaurant but wouldn't answer phone

delicious. fresh naan, aloo paratha and four seasons cooked to perfection. the hummus was also beautiful ❤️😍

The main meal was missing from my order. I rang up and they said they would deliver it in 25 minutes. It was another hour. So after one hour I had part of my meal, the rest turned up after 2 hours from when I ordered. Wasn't even given anything extra such as free dessert to compensate for a terrible service.

1st time visiting this restaurant and it definitely won’t be our last visit , we went for a family meal after a recommendation and the food was so fresh and delicious with a great choice and portion size and the service was 1st class , as we were leaving the owner even gave our grandson a gift for xmas which was a fantastic gesture that he didn’t need to do ❤️❤️ , great restaurant and staff , would highly recommend !!

Karahi was really good. Naan was big. The serving size was good as well as the complimentary soup.

Absolutely outstanding from start to finish. We couldn't have been made more welcome. From the great service to the stunning food which speaks for itself. We were given complementary authentic Persian soup for starter and was recommended the Chicken dish which was delicious and so moist and juicy. The owner Frankie brought us a complementary bottle of wine because we had told him it was the start of our Honeymoon. If that wasn't enough we were even given complementary Persian tea and Cheesecake. We were made to feel extremely special and nothing was over looked. If your in the area do call in you will not be disappointed. Thank you Frankie & your amazing team for making us feel very welcome.

We had a lovely lunch here. The place is very aesthetically pleasing. The host was very sweet and the service was excellent. We had the Gheimeh which really was a delicious comfort meal and the chicken biriyani which lacked a bit of salt. We loved the overall experience here.

Best Karahi in the town, if you want to experience the best quality food with authentic taste then this is the place to visit. Visited twice this place and found their Karahi dishes taste the best in the Newcastle.

Me and my husband went there today we had a very bad experience. Food was terrible no salt and spice.. Service was so poor. We waited more than an hour for food but when food came it was so disappointing no taste at all.. Highly not recommended at all..Chai bye🤨

I went along with my family. My experience was really pathetic. Service was really poor. We got our order after 2 hours. After waiting for so long when we were served with our order the food was uncooked, cutlery was incomplete. They were unable to manage things. Altogether I'm really disappointed and wasted money. As it was not busy enough and they didn't managed well at all. Will never go to chai shai to have any dish over there.

Had amazing meal tonight at Chai Shai Newcastle everything was spot on soup and Crispy rice, sharing platter for two ended up taking some home with how much their was and churros for desert. highly recommend going to chai shai.

I went here with my friend for the first time ever on Saturday 28th October. At first we were not even welcomed. We asked for a table, got told to sit on different table then got moved to a different one and were not even given any menus. We had to request the menus ourselves. We then were waiting a long time for a waiter to come over to take our order, when he finally came, most of the things on the menu were not available. The waiter forgot to bring out my bottle of Coca Cola, my friends karak chai came out and I had to request my Coca Cola again. The food came but was so bland no salt or spice. A variety of choice on dessert menu but only 4 were available. They had only 1 main vegetarian dish on the menu. When we asked for the bill at the end, we had to request that again as they forgot about this too. No complementary mints/chocs with bill. They did not ask if I wanted any ice or lemon with my glass of water. They did not offer me a glass with my bottle of Coca Cola or any Ice. The deco was the best and only good thing about this place. They do not even have a proper car park, you have to park at the car wash behind the restaurant where it’s just a yard with no parking bays. We will not be visiting this place again.

Chicken was moist and tasty, but no salad or grilled pepper as per description. Chips were cold and soggy. Naan ok

The look of the dish was great. The atmosphere was good, too. The "Shirazian Ash" and "Naan" were really good. It was the first week of the waiter working there, and there was some mix-up. But overall, it was good. The price was a little high, though.

Done my daughters birthday here for 23 guests, management were very attentive to our needs, we agreed on our menu and portion sizes. We turned up and everything from start to finish was exemplary, the food everyone commented was delicious, portion sizes were very generous. The service was attentive and efficient, making sure guests had everything that they required. The Karak chai is highly recommended along with the mango lassi is a must try. The starters of samosa chaat, masala chips, Gol Cuppeh were all delicious. The mains of saag, dhal makhni, chilli paneer were just as delicious. Highly recommended to try this place as the ambience decorations and food are all of a very high standard. Nothing is too much trouble for the management who go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect.

Worst experience with the family probably the worst chai place

The food was delicious but service was very poor . I told waiter I want my starter first then my main meal but he served all meal together. I ask him he said kitchen is busy that’s why make all together !!!!! When we start eating starter mean time our other food getting cold !!!nan became hard

Can’t fault the inside decorations, Its amazing however the service I received was not the best at all. When walked in got welcomed by lady who was sitting down with one customer who was probably her friend as well. I was given a choice where to sit then the waitress given us menu and then sat back with the lady and talking. The talking was so loud you could hear every single word of it and made it worse as there was no music for first 20 minutes. When I wanted to order I looked over and had to shout to get her attention. She did came over after few minutes conversation with the person she was talking to. When asked for Nihari they did not have it neither the birany. Asked for recommendations but told she usually has recommendation but the birany is not ready and it will take a while so she does not have any recommendations at the moment. In the end we ordered chicken wings and chicken karai. The food took almost an hour but it was only 2 people inside the restaurant and the other one customer she already had her food. Did not understand why it took that long. However thought it will make it up if the food does taste good but it was so bad I had to ask salt to add on my food to make it little better. Asked for spicy but it was not spicy at all and tasteless. Also was given free popadom but the pickle was used by previous customers. I did not appreciate given me someone els used pickle-tray even though it was complementary. It was trial to see how good it as. As we where planning to book the whole place for a birthday party. Not sure if I will ever return or recommend to any friends or family.

Beautiful food proper authentic curry Nihari lamb shank, and has to be the most authentic Persian tea I have had, these guys know what they are doing and lovely service to top it off. Keep it up guys well done!

Definitely the best Persian food in Newcastle! Prices are very reasonable compared to the quality of food, everything is prepared with great care. The Fit-out of the restaurant is second to none. A great place to take your loved one or family.

Good food but no excuse for missing the Naan bread!

Great little place for some persian/ pakistani fusion dishes. Unfortunatley many of the dishes we wanted were not available, including some tea options. We were recommended alternative dishes, including the Masala fish which was full of flavour. Pricing was fair in relation to portion size, decor was very nice, although the place itself was a lot smaller than I had imagined. Worth popping by if in the area.

Ordered food from them and delivered 40 minutes late . When we checked the delivery some food were missing then went to the restaurant to have those. That experience was not good at all.

We got less food than we ordered and we had to go to them again. Mutton curry not really mutton and it was full of beans . Service was also really bad when we go there.

Really disappointed about this place - looks amazing inside, but that’s about it. The service was terrible. The food was mid, poppadoms were stale. We were waiting around for our food even though we were the only ones inside. Also no parking. The waiter was rude throughout the entire night which was probably the worst part. Such a shame - ChaiBye.

We went there last night with a party of 38. On arrival we were all pleasantly surprised with the decor. We had pre- ordered our food. We had a mixture of side dishes lamb chops and other delicious kebabs with rice. The service was excellent. The price is reasonable and we all loved the whole night. We will definitely go back. Thank you to the owners.

Visited this morning and ordered the Karak chai, paratha and saag to takeaway. Had to wait 15 minutes as it was busy but was well worth it. Tea was nice better than chaiwala as its not overly sweet and food was delicious just the right amount of spice. Lovely staff.

I’ve been there a few times, and the food was so delicious staff so friendly. I recommend everybody to go there even once you try you will go back there again.

Tried this restaurant because it is close to home and the reviews were OK.But this is most probably the worst food ihave ever eaten. I ordered the korma, thinking it would be like a korma that you get in an Indians It was absolutely swimming in Grease and oil and the chicken was scraggy bits of thigh. It contained more bones than meat itself.the nan bread was to thin and crispy. The poppadoms were not very fresh and they jave no drinks licence. We waited over 45 mins just to tecieve the drinks Yes the venue is very pretty but it should all be covered with plastic percpecs. As we noticed several flys jumping in and out of the flowers Pleased I tried but would definitely not go hear again

My daughters were in today got takeaway and honestly I would recommend this place 100% gorgeous food very large portions best restaurant iv tried in a very long time and the manager is a absolute credit to her job lovely polite and very helpful lady and the deco is just WOW

I've been to ChaiShai twice now and both times the food has been divine! The waitress has always been friendly and helpful and the decor is beautiful! They've catered for my family of 13 with minimal disruption the first time and then my screaming kids the second time I went. Would definitely recommend as the food is cooked to perfection!

It was my second visit today at Chai shai. Both times the customer service was excellent. The owner and staff are all so very helpful. The food was amazing and we all had an amazing time. Definitely will be visiting again soon .

Chai shai is one of its own kind. Scrumptious food, great ambiance. Love their mixed platter and chicken karahi and nihari. Most reasonable place for dine in. Honestly very light on pocket with the amount of food they serve. Definitely recommend of you want to experience best persian and desi cuisine.

Great experience, went for son's 16th birthday. The service was lovely and the older gentleman really made our experience extra special :)) The mango Lassi was off the chain until we tried the Chai... wow! you have to try it to believe it. Next time i wont; be ordering starter as the portions are very generous and the pricing is very reasonable. Well done guys :))

Food was terrible,lovely place done well with decor but that was it sharing platter for 2 had one chop,how do you share one chop,! Service was slow and brought things out in drips and drabs ,charged for chips when was mentioned to be in with meal ,the nann was more like cracker bread never had anythingso bad in my life ,had to pay extra for sauces ,every place I've had a meal you get sauces ,who eats dry meat and I mean dry ,with no sauce ,lacked flavour lacKed salt staff where quite ignorant, my partner payed for the meal and I wish I had of got a refund,wouldn't recommend to anyone,...on the plus side if you want to see a nice phone box it's the only decent thing in there and the beday in the toilets you will need that after eating here ,STAY AWAY ....
