Cefn Tea Rooms in Merthyr Tydfil

I picked this cafe based on Trip Advisor reviews as a stop off on the way to a funeral. It was an excellent choice. Nearly missed it as we were following the sat-nav. Not sure about parking as a profusion of double lines. There is a short term parking slot big enough for 2 /3 cars in front of the café allowing for 20 minutes parking. We risked it and hope we don't get a parking ticket in the post. The place looked freshly decorated and has a pleasant ambience. Toilets were very clean. We had small cooked breakfasts which were nicely presented and went down well. Coffees were good. The prices reasonable. I would definitely drop in again if passing by.

Stopped for a quick bite to eat when passing through. We decided to sit in the back garden. Lots of on street parking outside.

Had a buffet for a work event . Nothing to much trouble . Food amazing , both taste and quality and a great selection

My wife and me spent a excellent holliday in Wales. We had twice brakfast in this Cefn Tea Rooms. Very good. We would like to recommend this place, not only for good food, but also outstanding service. As it should be everywhere, but unfortunetaly isn't, Thanks very much. Having been on a long walk, we were returning to our car along the High Street in Cefn. We were tired and came across the tea room and decided to have a drink. The interior is very pleasant, well decorated and very clean. While waiting for our drinks, we noticed some lovely looking cakes, and gave in to temptation! The cakes were delicious! My wife and I both had the jam and coconut sponge which was so light and fresh. Our friend had a mint and chocolate square, which he very much enjoyed. We shall certainly be back.

My wife and I decided to have an anniversary lunch with a cream tea, so we went to Cefn Tea Rooms which we hadn't visited before. We ordered tea and coffee which were served in proper pots. The coffee was excellent, with none of your 'Costa' rubbish. We had booked 'Afternoon Tea' - my God, you get plenty. Sandwiches, cakes and two big cream tea scones. We couldn't finish it all, but no worries, they supplied a 'doggie box'. All in all a lovely experience.

First visit had a breakfast it was very well presented and we both enjoyed will definitely return very friendly staff

We had jacket potatoes with fillings, coffee and hot chocolate, and I later had a vegan treacle cake. Food simple but tasty and well-presented. Coffee good. Staff were helpful and more facemasks and had taken care to space out tables. Hand sanitiser and clean toilets were available. One of us is coeliac. Initially we thought the tea room only did bread-based meals. We had to go inside to study the menu to discover that jacket potatoes were available.

We've been a few times now. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is fresh and beautiful. We've had afternoon tea twice and the value for money is amazing. We paid over double the price elsewhere only to be disappointed. We will be back soon and highly recommend.

Having only had a takeaway before (please see my previous review) I decided to meet a couple of friends at the tea rooms for lunch. We were greeted by Jodie, one of the friendliest staff I’ve ever come across. Throughout the afternoon she was exemplary in her service and just couldn’t do enough for us. We decided to sit outside in the lovely garden at the rear. Lunch was of the highest quality and was so reasonable too. We were having such a wonderful time, in such inviting surroundings, that we decided to stay longer and had a coffee/cuppa and a cake too - well, it would’ve been cheeky not to 🤣 What a stunning afternoon we’ve today. Such a pick up. Before we left, we spoke to Paula, the owner, and shared what a fabulous time we’d had and how highly we praised Jodie too. This was greatly appreciated and it is obvious she cares for her staff too and couldn’t speak highly enough about Jodie too. I’ve even ordered my Dad a beef Sunday lunch for next week. My Dad can’t wait. This place is a little jewel and we will DEFINITELY be back 👌 Thank you once again Cefn Tea Rooms for your exceptional service.

Popped in on the off chance for a quick bite to eat. It’s was children friendly, staff we nice and food was good so ticked all the boxes for us. Must return to try the cakes

Came across this fantastic tea room with my family - met with a lovely welcome and superb service. The food is delicious - home made and plentiful, absolutely delicious coffee as well. Even the toilet was super clean and fresh. Thank you for such a warm welcome. We will most definitely be back!

Went for lunch today, family get together. Had various items, i had the salad bowl with Tuna and mayo, salad was excellent and plenty of it, pot of tea was spot on. The three Ladies all had Panninis and really enjoyed. We all had Scones with jam and cream to finish, again excellent. Service was very good. We will be back.

My friend found this on Facebook and I rang the owner, Paula to request an Afternoon Tea to be delivered for my wonderful elderly neighbour who lives alone. As we are in lockdown, I couldn’t join her in person so the next best thing was to have Afternoon Tea delivered to her. The box included sandwiches, a small sausage roll & piece of quiche, some cakes - one of which was a “Happy Birthday” inscribed cupcake, a scone with jam & clotted cream. I requested an additional tub of strawberries too. Paula allowed me to pay so easily over the phone. I was texted when the delivery was on its way and was even texted to say what my neighbour’s reaction had been - an excellent, personal touch that was very much appreciated. I thought this was absolutely outstanding and I will definitely be using this service again. I also can’t wait to visit this lovely tea room for a spot of lunch, or afternoon tea when lockdown is lifted and it will be safe to do so. I have spoken to my neighbour who was literally in tears of joy as she said it was so special. She told me the box even contained a Happy Birthday napkin inside too. What a wonderful touch. All of this was only £10!!! (Inc delivery too!!) The strawberries were an extra £2.50. I am so impressed with the wonderful, extremely professional and very friendly service.
