Cedar Tree in Nuneaton and Bedworth

Went for an early dinner here this evening. Service from Mat and Kellie was friendly and attentive. Food was incredible. I had the pork and it was faultless, followed by the crumble which was divine. It was a lovely atmosphere, and, if I wasn't just visiting, would definitely become a regular place to dine!

Delicious meal. I got the Moroccan style falafel and it was delicious. Loved the spacious setting and great service!

After an absence, decided to go to the Cedar Tree for lunch, especially as they had a Wednesday offer on. Every course was delicious (unusually we had something different on each course). The service from Jody & Kellie was friendly & efficient. We shall be returning again soon. 😊😊

Came here for a family dinner, ordered the chicken and chorizo kebab which comes with a side salad. Found out there was caterpillar crawling around in my food. The waitress laughed and said “extra protein” which was not even remotely funny! No apology was given, and then when the bill came, the meal wasn’t even removed or discounted! Absolutely shocking service and cleanliness of their kitchen must be insane. Never again!

Service abysmal, apart from 1 or 2 members of staff who appeared to at least be trying. Food late coming out, waited nearly an hour for a Sunday lunch, and when the food did eventually arrive, it was cold. Eat at your peril. !

We have used this ego for 5 years and for all celebrations and unfortunately yesterday we had a bad experience. Firstly the place was freezing cold we couldn't get warm till we got home. Our starters, tbf, were all good and was asked if your food was alright, but the way he asked, it was different to is your food ok more like IS your food ok? When the mains came out, this is when that question was answered. The meats on my wife's plate were over cooked my father in law said his wasn't the best either. My wife did say, and they did take it away and brought her a new piece. The vegetables were undercooked we said a few times about different one's and eventually got a plate full of parsnips put on the table and still they weren't cooked right at that point the place was that cold our food was going cold also. The staff were friendly and did everything they could to help out.. please get it right, ego. Otherwise, you will lose a loyal following.

This restaurant is not as good as it use to be which is why I hardly visit anymore. I attended a birthday meal recently and the food was ok but I think I could have made a better pizza at home myself if I’m being honest. However, I did try the lemon tart for dessert and it was lovely. The service was good at the start but then kind of fizzled out towards the end of the night.

Just wanted to leave a review to say how nice and polite the lad who served me and my girlfriend was. Ben was very friendly and gave great service, during a busy Valentine’s Day. Even noticed how well he dealt with other customers too.

First time giving the steak night a go and I could absolutely recommend. I ordered the ribeye steak and it was cooked perfectly. We were taken care of by Sim who was very welcoming and attentive. 10/10 evening.

Food is amazing also good customer Service

It's been a while since my family last visited Ego. The food has always been amazing, but the service requires attention. The first to go wrong was getting the food out in the requested order. They got this back to front! We waited for our food for more than one hour. During this time, one of the waiters asked us twice if we wanted more drinks - not at the prices charged (£4 for a glass of Pepsi coke!) Then, as food was delivered to the table the server was seen touching the food and pushing it round the plate. When a complaint was made the server said his hands were clean. He took the food back to the kitchen and returned immediately - we were suspicious that the plate was the same so refused it again and the manager replaced it with another plate. We then saw another table make a complaint and the conversation with the manager was quite heated. The manager took that plate of food away and throw a cloth at the kitchen hatch and appeared to be fuming.

The positive thing is we were seated right away. Afterwards summary: Menus are dirty, staff is miserable and make the experience awful, not attentive, avoiding eye contact and only looking at you when voice prompted. Once the order was placed it took 50 minutes for the food to arrive. Child portion not worth the money, had to order extra chips...these arrived after plates were being cleared from the mains...because we asked again. Dessert menus were provided but the wait of 15 further minutes just to get a passing waiters attention was too much for us. Left the restaurant with a conviction of not bothering with EGO ever again despite the good offers. Staff is crucial for the experience, not just the place and the food. Very disappointed

45 minute wait for dinner to be served - restaurant was not busy - when it arrived it was not hot in fact the vegetables were cold. Taken away to reheat plates came back hot but the food did not. Disappointing very disappointing.

I have eaten there on many occasions with friends making use of the lovely discounts and event menus such as steak night and the January promotional offers. Lovely place for a 3 course meal, the food always standing out and making me come back to try more. The desserts are too good to miss. Very hardworking staff even on a busy day, who will always help sort any confusion over menu offers. Will definitely go again.

Wow your management are a grumpy lot! Arrived a little early for our table so waiting in the bar, took over 10 minutes to be served and get drinks. Male manager came to us and said table is ready and started walking off before we even collected our belongings. When arrived at the tablet we mentioned we had booked 2 high chairs, which had not been supplied. He came back moments later with 3 high chairs stacked on top of eachother and walked away. Didn’t remove any of the extra seats or put the high chairs out. Waitress was lovely but only had her serving until our food came out. No complaints on the food it was delicious. When desserts came I asked the manager for a fruit bowl for the babies to share. In the time it took them to make the simplest of a fruit plate everyone on the table had eaten their desserts, finished their drinks and was ready to leave. It had been that long ( I’d say 20-25 minutes) by the time the fruit plate came out that we were putting our coats on. The manger never apologised for the wait or even seemed to acknowledge we were leaving, he just dumped the fruit plate down and walked off. Didn’t leave a tip cause frankly staff didn’t deserve it. I worked in hospitality for 10 years and know it can be difficult, but there is honestly no excuse to behave the way he did. Don’t like your job ( which from his attitude he obviously doesn’t) then leave. I would have a few more choice words for that manager but dont think Google review would allow it. To the manger- do better or leave hospitality cause you aren’t right for the job.

Mya was our server tonight and honestly she was amazing! You could tell they was busy that that night but Mya was going above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and relaxed not rushed at all. Dealt with our requirements quickly and professionally, thank you Mya your a true asset to Ego at Nuneaton.

Visited Saturday 11th. Person who booked us in and took us to our tablr very quick and efficient. Pity the rest of the evening wasn't as pleasant. Only warm thing on my plate were the fries. Greasy onion rings, couldn't eat. Absolutely freezing cold in there. Two of us kept our coats on and had to fetch our 18months old coat and hat from the car she was shivering and had turned blue. One of us asked for a radiator to be put on but didn't really do much to keep us warm. Disappointing had no dessert just wanted to pay and get the he'll out of there. Don't you have any form.of heating?

Excellent meal, lots of options for a mid-week treat. Very reasonably priced. Catered for our daughter's nut allergy excellently throughout. Our server, Ben, was great. Just the right amount of attention to make sure we were looked after but didn't feel instrusive.

The food is always good here, but I wish the chefs would properly cook the parsnips. They were too firm with the usual earthy taste. As every grandma will tell you, the best way to cook parsnips is to roast in the oven with a little drizzle of olive oil. That leaves them soft and sweet. It’s the same effect as roasting garlic! Give it a try please: it transforms a Sunday roast! BTW, great service from Ben!

Customer service was poor had a call the waitress over to take our order, very slow then sat for 15mins waiting for our plates to be cleared, rude staff

This place is by far one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten, especially given the value for money. The staff also went above and beyond to make for a nice birthday. Thank you Ego!

Chicken was burnt, forgot a food item and the place smelt. Wouldn’t recommend it on a Friday evening at least.

From starters to desert so many issues. Hardly no staff, had to keep getting out my seat to flag staff down. Starters burnt bread turned upside down to hide it. Mains cold and had to be reheated. Service was just so slow, desert well a stone cold brownie with ice cream which had to be done again. Raw pizza for kids main. I don’t think we will book again. 2nd we been and both times very disappointed.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience today celebrating New Years Eve dinner with family and friend, waited for nearly an hour for our order, food are cold and hard as its been cooekd 40mins before serving, salad are wilted, tomatoes and onions seems been cut days ago. Rely bad experience

The food was great, and the servers were good at first, but later, they took the order for dessert but did not bring the food until we chased it up. I think they were too busy and forgot to take the order in the system.

We 13 in a group had Afternoon Teas last week. The waitress Jody was ever so nice and very helpful. We have booked a table for Xmas meal so hopefully to have Jody again! Thank you x

All style over substance, overpriced, small portion sizes & zero evidence of any love or passion for what they produce in the kitchen. I had the Morrican Lamb, it literally had 5 small bite size pieces of lamb, which I wouldn't of minded so much if the rest was plentiful & tasty but the portions were very stingy & lack lustre in flavour, very underwhelming. This is your typical UK chain restaurant, a lot spent on decor & aesthetics but the food is very average...the prices would have you think otherwise though. Another example of why the rest of world is bemused at the UK's general standard of food & restaurants that we find acceptable. If Ego was actually operating in any country in the Med, they would be shut within a month.

Had a lovely meal here for my birthday. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was wonderful! Had a birthday voucher for a free 3 course meal so made it fantastic value for money too!

We went to try afternoon tea before making a booking fir a group of 18. Afternoon tea must be booked so we booked several days in advance. 2pm is the earliest time and we booked it because we had to do school run some miles away. Arriving just before 2pm we were served a small pot of tea quite quickly. At 2.30 I asked how much longer we would be waiting for food as we had to leave at 2.55. The maitre d' said it was bring plated at that moment. At 2.45 I asked for it to be boxed as a takeaway. We finally left, very stressed, at 2.55 with a collection of boxes. The price was reasonable but the food was very ordinary. Two small, nasty fried ball, one fish, one of dubious content, 3 soggy sandwiches, 3 tiny bits of strange cakes and a reasonable scone with quality cream and jam. We won't be making the party booking.

Had to change from a 5* review, I ate here again for the second time and the food was bordering inedible.

I know it’s the Christmas season but do not take so many bookings that you can’t give a reasonable service. Table was booked for 7pm for 4 people. Ordered food at 7.15 still no food at 8.40! We left without eating. Completely ruined our Christmas night out.

We spent here an evening with some work colleagues and had a really wonderful night. As we had ordered the courses upfront everything was sorted out and we could enjoy the meals and ourselves. There was only one issue with one ordered lamb Dinner which turned out to be a vegetarian meal instead and even after he returned it, my colleague again received a vegetarian version of it... The food was very good and the portions had exactly the right size for us - nobody was hungry anymore nor "overfilled". As we sat in front of the partly open kitchen we could also enjoy the action going on in there. Happy to go there again when I am around the area next time. One last Advice: Do not miss out on the Crumble - it was so delicious! 😋

We had lunch on a busy Friday afternoon and There were only 2 servers, Adriane & Jody. They were rushed off their feet but were brilliant. The girl behind the bar was very busy as well and did brilliant too. Why was there only two people serving? The food was lovely and the chefs should be commended. We love Ego’s.

Pretentious but basically a pub that's trying to be gastro ,I asked for rump steak medium to well and received a rare steak ,a few chips in a bucket and a 🍅, tbh the staff were very attentive but I've had better food in a witherspoon

I received a birthday email, offering me a free meal to celebrate. We decided to visit on Sunday 27th October, a couple of days after my birthday. On checking the website, we could see availability every 15 minutes throughout the afternoon so decided to drive over as walk ins. When we (table of 2) advised we didn't have a booking, the guy on the front desk advised us he was very busy. He advised us that we would need to turn the table around pretty fast. He repeated he was busy and we would need to leave by 14:30. Not a problem for us as it was 12:30, but the greeting was not what we expected. I told him that I had a birthday voucher, as the email advised to do so. This received no reaction. The guy grabbed 2 menus and ushered us to follow him to a table. We were not asked about menu or dietary requirements. We were not advised on any offers or deals or restrictions regarding the voucher we had. The bar tender placed a jug of water on our table as soon as we sat down. I again advised that we had the birthday voucher and enquired about how to use it. He went away and spoke to the guy that would serve us. The bar tender confirmed we couldn't have the Sunday lunch on offer and needed to order from the a la carte menu. I checked the menu and couldn't see any allergy advice on the main menu, so made my way to the bar for a NGCI menu as gluten makes me ill. We both ordered from the NGCI menu, so I can share my wife's food (she is not gf) the guy that the bar tender checked our birthday voucher restrictions with, came over and took our drink order. Then he took our food order. A different guy served our food. No reference to allergy requirements was made up to this point. We ate and our plates were cleared by a lady, training another lady. She asked if we wanted dessert, we said yes and my wife confirmed the need for a NGCI menu for me. We ordered dessert with the food server and as he was prepping to bring it over, came to check the order as my wife's order was gluten containing. At this point I confirmed this was correct, as I was the only one with the allergy issue and the starter and main were ordered that way in order to share food. Once we finished our dessert, I asked for the bill from the lady who cleared our main plates but our dessert plates were not cleared at this point. It took 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared by our food server. Still no bill. Once the bill was presented, no birthday discount was showing, so I showed the voucher again. The lady seemed a little bemused by this, took the voucher code and went back to the till. She presented a new bill and advised how much had been taken off with the voucher. We paid and left. We interacted with 5 members of staff (not including the trainee) 4 of which were aware of our voucher. At no point was my birthday referenced. This was our 6th visit to Ego, 5th to this venue. We are unlikely to visit again due to the poor customer service outlined.

Adriane was the most amazing host for the evening. Food was lovely and so was the drinks. Perfect for a large booking, very well organised.

Took ages for the food to come out after the starter, wasn't that good when it did drinks are very expensive.

Place and service have alway been good. Recently we’ve experienced hit and miss food quality. Also to note is the mini pudding was embarrassingly small and we’ve heard the same from others.

Service was slow but the food was nice

Had a great date night with my wife, the atmosphere was really good and the service was friendly. The food was exceptional! A pizza that is up there with the Italians! Lamb koftas were delicious, and my wife loved her lamb dish. Well worth the money. Will be back again.

Have dined at Ego many many times but at our latest visit the food was absolutely perfect. (Duo of Pork and Lamb steak) Absolutely delicious 😋 and the service was brilliant as always.

Monday evening 19.30 Left to stand for 10 minutes to be told sorry we don’t accept walk-ins…. That’s the first time I’ve heard that considering we did it last month. wouldn’t mind but he place was half empty… we won’t be back…
