Catch 32 in Derbyshire Dales

2nd visit to Bakewell and 2nd visit to Catch32, absolutely delicious quality fish n chips. Nice guy who owns it and nice staff. Beats the chippy near the river hands down. Travel from Shaw/Oldham to Bakewell and this chippy is very much part of the trip.

Fantastic. Good old fashioned fish & chips, cooked in beef dripping. Absolutely gorgeous. If your a veggie, go to a salad bar.... and don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Need to advertise that the chips are cooked in beef dripping. I’m vegetarian and had to throw two portions in the bin and go elsewhere. Another family member enjoyed their fish chips and peas which is why I have given 3 stars overall.

I came to Bakewell with my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago and we popped in here for some chips. I decided to order some fish and it ended up being some of the best fish and chips we’ve both ever had. The name of the owner has slipped my mind but he was lovely and treated us very well. I can’t recommend this place enough you can tell that they take pride in what they do whilst producing fresh food.

It was the Christmas market weekend, which was packed with visitors, we came across this place and saw someone sat outside eating their meal, which looked good. We ordered 2 specials £6.75 Fish, chips, peas It was cooked fresh and served in a box Excellent service, very friendly and efficient Amazing quality well cooked brown chips and batter with excellent peas Plenty for biggest appetite Absolutely superb and such good value👍👍👍

Had dinner from this chip shop this evening having read the amazing reviews on here. Im afraid I have to disagree with the glowing reviews. The person taking the orders seemed to have lost any customer service skills she may have possessed, the chef seemed stressed with all the orders & it felt a little like we were an inconvenience. Firstly they need to change the cooking oil in the fryers..food was oozing dark brown cooking fat & you could taste the old oil in the food. Chips were just warm as was the battered sausage, fish was very over cooked with dark brown hard batter, potato scallops were pretty much cold & oozed the old brown cooking fat. With a cost of living crisis on, people want good food when they decide to spend their hard earned cash & treat themselves to a take away meal, this wasn’t worth the money. We won’t be returning.

Best fish and chips we have had in along time. The batter was crisp the fish was beautiful and fresh. The chips were cooked to perfection. They had a crisp outer and a fluffy inside. 10 out of 10 definitely going back for more. Its well worth the drive.

Travelled from Tamworth especially to eat the fish and chips. These are without doubt the best ive ever eaten. If I could give more than 5/5 I would. What a fantastic family who own this too. This place is a must visit

The most amazing fish and chips we have had in over a decade. Proper traditional fish and chips in dripping as they should be. My husband and I had the haddock which is our favourite and seems to no longer be readily available. The fish was flaky and fabulous with the best batter and the chips were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. You can tell the provenance and quality is brilliant. And the Irish curry sauce was fabulous the best we have ever had even better than in Dublin. If you come to Bakewell make sure you come here. It’s beyond yummy

This is the second time since the new owners took over, fabulous chips as ever and good curry sauce, HOWEVER the fish quality has changed. On our first visit, it appeared the fish had been cooked from frozen, second visit the fish had skin on, never had skin on with Darren. The fish portion had also shrunk.

Until these guys opened Bakewell was served with two chip shops, one of which gets business because of it's price location. Take my advice and walk 500 yards to Catch 32 and you will be well pleased. The batter on the fish is top notch

A traditional chippy, if you want fried chicken or a kebeb, this isn't for you, however if you want a fantastic piece of Cod or Haddock this is most definitely the chippy for you. The cod we had was huge and cooked to perfection. 5*
