I really want to love this pub, so it is a shame to give the following review. My recent experience has terrified me. Yorkshire pudding had a long brown hair wedged into the batter (yuck). I did let this one go. Shortly after I found an actual STONE in my food. Yes, I had chewed on it, and I’m scared to know what the dental bill is going to be, as I went full crunch in it. Ouch. Initially, I thought it was maybe and extremely burnt bit of potato, but having bitten down on this, and inspecting it with the waitress, this was a in fact a stone. I have eaten here before and been really happy with the food. Service was great and the staff seemed genuine when they apologised to me (not their fault), but this does give me reasonable doubt around the hygiene of the kitchen. Yuck. They will be getting the dentist bill because a filling has definitely shattered 😫

I like this pub... but it is a bit on the pricey side... £20 for a roast, the food is well cooked and tasty but the portion isnt great... one half carrot, one half turnip and a tablespoon of what i presume to be swede... hidden under the obligatory giant yorkshire pudding, meat portion was reasonable, but why not more veg? Pints are at the upper price for London which is usual for a trendy part of town. Staff are always friendly in my experience.

Asked for a Pimms drink, guy uses his dirty hands to put the orange slices in my drink, wipes his hands on his clothes and makes my drink. When I told him is this normal? He replied: do you want me to use the tongs?.... I said yes, you shouldn't be using your fingers, he got upset, dashed the drink in the sink and made a new one with an attitude as he was angry that I even asked for normal hygienic practices. He expected me to drink something he made with his dirty hands. Disgusting!

Went for Sunday Roast for Daughter In Laws 40th Birthday and all in all very good. Love the ambience. Beer was okay but wish they did Real Ale as well as keg beers. I had the Roast Beef with Horseradish but TBH the Horseradish was more like a mayo. It had zero heat to it and not much flavour. I may be wrong but the Yorkshire Puds were not homemade but bought in so lacked flavour. I love the fact the place is dog friendly although pooch was a little unsure of the spiral staircase. As I said, all in all a great couple of hours in which to eat a relaxed Sunday Dinner and BTW, the Lemoncello Trifle was Superb. Will Return

Don’t book your party here! Hugely disappointing experience at the Cat and Mutton. Me and my fiancé booked an engagement party at the venue. We had preordered buckets of drink and reserved a space upstairs. When we arrived the staff didn’t seem aware that we were coming and we were sat in an area that was way too small for our party. The staff also didn’t seem aware of the preordered drinks. Once the drinks came out it was 6 in a bucket instead of the 12 we had paid for. We assumed that the rest would be brought out soon. However, as the night went on and nothing happened, we went to talk to the staff which were completely oblivious. They informed us they would talk to their manager on duty. Time went on and nothing happened. Our guests had to start ordering their own drinks - which we wanted to avoid by providing them with the buckets. Eventually more buckets turned up without as much as an apology. Additionally, the cider we ordered was Moat, but the ones we received were Bulmer’s (which I find undrinkable). From start to finish it was a very disappointing experience. We preordered drinks and tables to relieve stress from our party - but the poor service from the staff made it more stressful than if we had just walked in and bought our drinks from the bar.

We had a very disappointing experience at this pub. Which is a real shame as it got such a good location.... but I think that's the only thing which keeps it going! The selection of wine is poor considering it is in such a foodie/drinks area. I ordered a wine, and the glass was dirty with the previous person's lipstick and food on it. Gross... I returned to the bar where the server took a new glass and proceeded to pore either water or soda from the postmix dispense gun over the glass....alarm bell 1! They wiped the rim of the glass with some blue roll and poured a new glass of wine. This glass was Unfortunately worse than the first... I went back to my table where the sun gleamed through the window and my new 'polished' glass revealing every bit of food partials on the glass. Honestly, it was comical and grimm at the same time. Ignoring the warning signs, my partner and I ordered food. Which we were told would be a minimum 30-minute wait.. The food arrived later, and it was honestly so disappointing... two roast potatoes, half a small carrot and half a small parsnip... but the meat was awful... the pork was jelly.... top crackling was soggy, and the beef was inedible and couldn't be cut with a knife. I went to the bar to ask to speak to a manager, and the staff were perched at the end of the bar on a laptop and the other eating their lunch. I asked if I could speak to the manager, and she replied ' why is it the toilets? ' Honestly, I almost laughed as it wasn't the toilets, but obviously, the toilets are also an issue... oh lordy...I have been here before and used the facilities that are in need of some TLC, to say the least... but no, I replied its not the toilets... anyway, we asked for a refund, left the drinks and food, and headed to the Virgin Queen down the road! This venue needs some serious operational input or at least a manager with their EYE on the business! Will be spending my hard earned money elsewhere!

We had a mixed experience when coming to the Cat & Mutton for our group Christmas meal last month. We each paid a £10 deposit and unfortunately one member of the group caught Covid so couldn’t come. I called ahead to make them aware but upon arrival no one seemed to know about this and we were told by the manager that we would have to cover the full cost of the meal. There is no mention anywhere in the booking policy that this will be the case (trust me I checked!) so just be aware that if you cannot attend you will be liable for the £10 deposit and the full price of the meal. The meal itself was nice and the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant area were all really polite and attentive during a busy period, but we all felt that this particular issue could have been handled a lot better.

Excellent food, nice pub. We tried the Christmas menu (3 courses at 35£) and everything was delicious. The trout starter and the turkey main were great and tasty. The location is very nice, next to the Broadway market in Hackney, so there is plenty to do in the area. The pub is very nice, but if you get seated in the ground floor, it will get very crowded and noisy. Not the best to eat with friends as it gets messy and the noise can be so high that you don't hear much of your conversations. The food was delicious, a perfect Sunday roast and the pigs and blankets were great. Despite everything being lovely with our meal, we left on a sour note. Our bill had service charge applied and when it came to paying I asked to pay the bill with no service. This was not due to anything being wrong with the service and I told the waitress that everything was fine. She questioned us about it again to which I then felt I had to express it was due financial situations. We paid the bill and the waitress walked to another colleague 5 metres away from us and we could hear them talking about how we didn’t pay the service. I felt very judge and disappointed that this had caused such a fuss to them when it is an optional payment. It was a shame this happened because the atmosphere and food was good.

Yes they did bark when we were playing but I have no idea how anyone could even hear or be offend over the loud music and chatter in the pub. It was very clear after asking people around us if they were offended that they weren't and the manager hated dogs! After being served larger like dish water and not being able to use the toilet as there is no lock or toilet paper it’s safe to say we will never return and nor will my friends. A truly beautiful period pub ruined by poor management. Whoof, whoof whoof!

Nobody likes to be followed around a store. There only so many times you can restock the same area walk away and return to it. I felt uncomfortable but had to make a purchase because of the way I was being followed around.

My second visit to Primeur recently, and the food didn’t disappoint. However I did feel let down by the service. Took about five minutes for someone to notice we had entered the restaurant (almost just went to go find a seat ourselves), and much too long to order a drink when we had been shown our table. Fortunately the food was great, otherwise I would have felt slightly betrayed as I had such a good experience first time I visited. Hope they sort the service out as it seems to be a bit of a theme; hope their success hasn’t led to reduced quality..

Love this chippy and it’s perfect if you suffer from celiacs disease, you can have delicious grilled or fried gluten free fish in batter and chips, without any worries of contamination 🥰. The grilled skate and chips is my favourite, cooked to perfection and big portions. My husband has tried most things and found them all really tasty and apparently the deserts are yummy too, although not always GF. Our friend had the Apple and cinnamon crumble today, with ice cream and said it was the best ever. Sergio is a happy, friendly guy and takes very good care of his customers, especially if you have allergies. Thanks for a lovely meal, we will be back again soon
